@yanboa Yeah, obviously there were dark green cars before the 90s. I'm not trying to say that Kurt Cobain invented the pine tree. But, it was the 90s when dark green was the most popular on the road in the US. Every truck and SUV had it as an option, and in some cases, it was more popular than red. Somehow, I don't think Dodge was trying to get in on vintage Lotus nostalgia with the paint on dad's 1998 Ram 2500. Then suddenly it went away.
Not sure if you remember, but saw you guys out filming this video at the country club while I was there with a colleague for the 2024 Lexus GX event. Had such a great conversation with you and love your guys’ content! Keep it up!!🔥

Toyota is the largest single shareholder of Subaru. I think it's fair to consider a GR86 as much a Toyota product as a Subaru product when you consider how much influence Toyota has on the company. I'll 100% give you the Supra, that thing drives like a BMW to me. For good and for bad.
@@hamsterbrigade Being a large shareholder does not mean you control a company. It's a Subaru based chassis, a Subaru engine, Subaru interior, it's produced at the Subaru Gunma plant, and essentially every part on the car is stamped Subaru. Toyota had input on development and provided direct injection tech. The Supra is practically more Toyota than the 86 because at least Toyota fully designed the exterior and it has a lot more bespoke parts. If you ever work on a BRZ/86 and have experience working on Subaru and Toyota, you'll instantly know it's about 95% Subaru.
@@802Garagethe Supra is definitely not “more” Toyota you’re the only person I’ve seen say that. Lmao. With the cars themselves you can argue that the Supra is more of a Supra then the 86 is a Corolla though.
@@MaddNomad1015 Because most people have never touched an 86 or done any research before expressing an opinion. Neither the 86 nor the Supra are made by Toyota. One is made in a Subaru plant and one is made in Austria. In terms of actual parts shared with other cars in the corporate lineup, the 86 probably wins by a handful. All I was saying is at least Toyota fully did the body design of the Supra and it is bespoke to that car. That's not even the case with the 86. They made four wheel drive Corollas before with the All-Trac models, so it's still within heritage really.
I own a core with all of the packages and I live in the mountains. I drive it daily. It's an absolute riot on all surfaces. Don't waste money with mods/wraps. It's a corolla.
Exactly! I bought a Circuit, like the look, will never track the car, happy with the interior quality, could give a rip about an armrest, being a hooligan on backroads only, love the overall joyous nature of this little car.
For anyone who might read this and are using the Tuxmats, they’re great but I would try and avoid using the mounting clips they come with. I’ve noticed they scuff up the plastic trim you mount the clips to over time since the mats tend to slide back and forth when someone’s feet are on them.
Interesting, I just installed a set and because I didn't have access to a smart phone/instructions, I just skipped the clips. Mats seem to be fitting/holding just fine without them.
Last weekend I instructed a toyota GR experience student in his GR Corolla at Ozark International raceway and I have to say the car is pretty fantastic. Completely stock brakes are phenomenal. The suspension is damn good for a street car and handle a lot like a stock E46 M3 competition coupe. In track mode the AWD allowed the car to rotate in high speed corners. We didnt run into any heat related issues but air temps were 70's. As an occasional track day and street car the GR corolla is pretty fantastic. Looking forward to the aftermarket solving the heat related issues for dedicated tracking.
That auto emergency call service is hilarious and infuriating at the same time. I'd throw the infotainment out of the window if it did that to me at the track.
Happened to me first track day in my Morizo...it is absolutely ridiculous. The second call that was made I was put on hold and couldn't end the call. Even turned the car off, disconnected the battery..still couldn't cancel the call. unbelievable. The SOS service has its own Sim car and reserve power supply? Will be complaining to Toyota Australia on Monday.
Midnight in Adelaide, South Australia. Time to watch some SavageGeese. Best car videos around. I have also learnt so much from you guys. Keep up the good work guys!
I love the hot hatch segment of the car world. I own a Focus RS. My interest in this series comes from my love of my car and the WRX, amongst all the other hot hatches. I would love to hear more comparisons to those (and the veloster N) in the series.
Not surprised the corolla suffers from the same problem as the focus rs with the overheating rear clutch pack. Many people just move on to a new platform because there is no way to fix it on the RS. Even with a color, the tempnis just inferred so the ecu will always disconnect it, regardless of actual heat. Hopefully the gr is actually monitoring temp with a sensor. Also that emergency services shit must be annoying af
Its a shame that these cars get such a fragile system that is meant mostly to add a bit of traction to commuter cars. Back in the day we made fun of Haldex systems for being “fake” but this is way worse.
@@kenim yeah, just goes to show how great the Evo and sti were. They don't have these sort of overheating issues, theirs are mostly motor overheat problems which are more easily remedy. These clutch type AWD systems are just no good for performance cars. They are cheap substitutes. Looks good on a spec sheet but doesn't work in the real world.
@@MSportsEngineering I know the Focus RS uses the GKN system which I believe the GR Corolla is also using, either way they are both clutch pack based designs
Came for the car review, but stayed because of the matching Patagonia fleece and vinyl wrap. Fascinating to learn about the various heat issues and possible fixes. Going to be very interesting to see where this goes -- maybe some anodized green interior accents for the car and a leprechaun outfit for Mark?
Such auto emergency call should be introduced in F1: if a driver is complaining too much, the car shuts down communication to the team and calls local dealership instead. Amazing and very detailed content with brilliant cinematography, thank you for your hard work! A rare gem with consumer oriented approach!
Disappointing to hear that the clutch pack, oil, and IATs are getting too hot after just a very short time on the track for a HPDE. That seems crazy to me given how Toyota positions this car.
The Gr overheats meanwhile Hyundai ran the Veloster N and Elantra N for 24 hours straight on track, no issues. And they’re not even dedicated track cars!
Great video as always! I also ran into the issue of my GRC calling the emergency call center multiple times when I was tracking at Laguna Seca. I'm surprised none of three people that I was connected with mentioned about disabling the feature as it was super annoying. Now I know I can disable it but apparently, disabling it will also disable all the related features to the subscription service, which includes Toyota app and I kind of want to keep it... As for the rear diff (clutch pack) overheating issue, I titanium wrapped and added a heatshield on my exhaust near the unit and I even added a furnace shield on the temp sensor and the issue seems to be fixed so far. When ran stock, my GRC went into FWD only mode after three laps in 73f weather, but after adding those heat shields, I never had any overheating issues completing a full session even in 77+f weather. It can still happen in hotter weather but for now that's all I can do. I love my GRC but it definitely needs some mods to be driven hard and reliably on the track whereas my Elantra N has been great without any issues even after 10+ track days.
If you have them disable it, can it be done permanently, or is it something that has to be done any time you plan to drive the car as it is meant to be driven?
So which do you prefer for DD use? EN or GRC? It kinda seems like either of these would be my next car. Very likely will never step foot on a track, just spirited road driving.
i am still driving my s2000 , and it breathes and even runs better at this cool moment. what i have done only is the SPoon intake extension. i believe it really helps in summer too.
Rear clutch heat issues are a known issue from GR Yarris. Header wrap or heat shield on the exhaust from resonator to muffer resolves most of the Yarris. Seems like alot of the issues are due to the position of the clutch temp sensor being close to the exhaust so gives false readings. If you need to go further than than Cusco has a clutch cover with expanded capacity too.
As a Spruce Mica Green (6V4) owner.. I was having heart murmurs about the likelihood of getting a green GR Corolla.. But knowing it is wrapped alleviates some anxieties. Beautiful colour choice!
I always hated the tasteless visual of rims wider than tires. Perfectly vertical shoulder is my preference, but I'd rather tolerate a bit of ballooning over stretch tires.
I shortlisted this car because it seems to perfect but after seeing all of the struggles just to use the performance of this car for more than 3 laps, I am very glad i bought a vb WRX. It’s perfect for this use case and has a very established and demonstrated aftermarket to support it. 340AWHP with an intake and tune, no cooling issues, FA500 coils and it’s loads better than a GR Corolla.
Great video as always! To my knowledge there are 3 ways to deal with the clutch pack problem that have been tested on the GR Yaris. The first one is to cover the rear exhaust with some insulating material, reason being that the exhaust goes pretty close to the clutch pack and heats it. The second way is to put a diffuser to direct air on the clutch pack (is on sale at TEGIWA Europe I believe).
And the third one is to put an oil cooler for the rear differential (sold by HEL performance), which does not share the same oil of the clutch pack but since it is close to it transfer a lot of heat to the clutch pack.
Been enjoying my 23’ loaded Core. It was definitely worth waiting for my MSRP allocation at an upstate NY MSRP only dealership. I feel like at $37,500-$40,000 the car’s outstanding powertrain, transmission and chassis more than makes up for the Corolla interior parts.
Waiting is definitely the way to go, especially since Toyota already updated the car for the 24' model years. Paying markup for the worst version of the car is nonsense.
Glad you're enjoying it! To the other upstate New Yorkers if you want to drive Watkins Glen reach out to me. My GR Corolla probably won't be tracked there (I have an older BMW for that) but it's nice to meet the GR family and get some people charging hard on track. I've also been to Pineview Run and I wanted to do New York Safety Track but ran out of funds :(
I would like to see a long term test of the Elantra N. This is an excellent video beautifully edited! The wrap is beautiful. Truly a shame that heat management makes this not a complete track car stock.
Honestly as much as look into offerings in this class the EN rises to the top every time. FWD only is a disappointment in basically anything other than clear weather, but the EN is extremely impressive overall.
The over heating rear diff is something Toyota needs to fix, 10-15 mins before the rear diff over heats and switches to fwd mode. I saw you guys on Autobahn on Sept 30th, I had the same issue in my GR Corolla with my sessions.
This video is incredible. Really appreciate all the information. Wrap and wheel education was actually helpful. Even if some things are sponsored you guys do a really good job making it useful and entertaining. Ends was amazing of course.
Re: the crash detection system. I tracked my V60 recharge over the summer, and when the crash detection system freaked out over excessive braking round a sharp corner, it reacted by tightening and locking down my seat belt to an extremely uncomfy degree. Like, shallow breaths only. And it wouldnt let up until i got off track and unbuckled. I drove to have fun, not set lap times, so i only triggered the crash detection once... But once was enough for me to take it a lil easier the rest of the day
The wrap with the Apex wheels came out looking amazing. Saddened to find out the issues with overheating, but I always saw this car as a back road car and not as a track weapon.
I have a white CE. The sheer amount of information packed into this video is amazing. Thank you! I don’t know if I’ll ever track it like you guys do but it’s good to know what it’s limitations are.
I hate commercials/advertisements, but I literally laugh out loud at your ads but more importantly - trust your recommendations that I’ll get something quality. Definitely going to grab me some tux mats!
I think you guys nailed what the GRC is all about in the end. Its not gonna be a darling in the track but it will give you a fun driving experience in the street in all seasons. I don’t care about taking my car to the track so these issues do not apply to me. I am looking forward to what Limit +1 can do in these cars especially their oem plus line.
Congratulations on getting MSRP. I will continue fighting my local dealers who are trying to automatically add 3 - 5K at the start of our conversation. You know it's bad when the sales-guy stops responding.
The stupid fucking Toyota by me is selling a USED one (base model) with 3000KM on it for 25% more (10K on top) here in Canada. Which is about $7000 USD. It’s kinda insane.
Got mine coming in either the 20th or 21st, used Toyota Naperville as well. Apparently Illinois is spoiled by MSRP only dealers? St Charles also is MSRP only
I've got a Type R and Yaris. Type R is stock, the Yaris has some mods - Exhaust, downpipe, springs. Type R is pretty much one league above when talking about how much car you get, but the gr is no less fun. In rain and slippery conditions in general the Yaris is more fun, much faster too. Type R is more mature, much better interior, ergonomics, electronics, more space. Yaris has a bigger punch from below, Type R pulls more like an NA engine and is more fun to rev out. Yaris feels lighter, Type R handles better, has better steering too. Seating position, ergonomics, adjustability, trunk space all go to the Honda. Overall VERY different feeling cars both fun in their own right. Altho the Corolla seems like a fusion of both, combining the Type R's practicality with the Yaris' drivetrain I don't think I could swap my Type R for a Corolla. These are my first japanese sportscars btw I always owned german cars, still have a GT4 to compliment the Yaris and Type R. Type R feels/drives like a budget FWD GT3, great to have fun, drive fast/hard but also lots of creature comforts for daily driving and travelling with the family and very light for a modern car of that size. More of a general impression than purely track related like you asked but hopefully still gives you some insight from someone who owns (and likes) both. Purely track related, the Type R gives more fun at the limit than the GR IMO, making the GR more fun when not pushing too hard.
This color combo is nearly identical to my deep green metallic '95 Talon TSI AWD with gold/bronze evo 8 enkeis. Such a understated and tasteful combination.
your review is always so honest. when this car is out, everyone is bragging about the performance but nobody is talking about the cooling issue. the similar mechanical awd structure is in focus rs as well and that car producted 2016-2017 had this problem already knew to the community.
That green looks almost identical to my Dark Highland Green on my Bullitt. Love that color, it looks like it pops in the sun and is deep and rich in the shade. Aside that, it's pretty crazy that Toyota built a track/sports car (albeit out of the Corolla) and it is having so many performance issues when driven hard.
I already wanted a GR Corolla for a daily driver way too much. Wrapping a circuit edition in green just made me incredibly jealous. As a Canadian dealing with winter roads 5 months a year, this car makes SO much sense. My S2000 is great, but I can only access the fun it delivers 6 months a year
Also Canadian and I have the same thoughts. In Canada especially the mountains this would be the best daily driver. Now I just need to win the lottery to afford it and the gas prices
Yah, it's really hard for me to justify $65k for what is still a Corolla in every non-performance metric. There are a lot of amazing lightly used cars for that money
Love the wrap color, especially in combination with the wheels ❤ I hope you'll have a lot of fun with the car. I'm looking forward to this series. It's a shame we don't get them here in Europe.
I wonder if some of the aftermarket stuff that is already built for the GR Yaris can be used for the GR Corolla as well since they both have the same underpinnings underneath. I figured stuff like engine & clutch pack options are interchangeable between the two (That Eventuri intake was firstly designed for the Yaris). Motive Video i think also has some videos detailing what to expect when you are tuning the engine (they were one of the first shops to push the G16E 3cyl to its limits)
I recently picked up a 2023 Core with all options (performance, cold climate, and JBL speakers) with a slight mark-up; I paid slightly more than $42k. In my opinion, the Circuit Edition wasn’t worth the extra $5k-ish compared with a maxed out Core at MSRP. I prefer the matte plastic over the glossy exterior trim pieces and was indifferent to the hood and roof that the CE offered. Unfortunately, in SoCal where I live, it was very difficult to get a Core at or near MSRP. There were very few Circuit Editions available but those models were pushing $50k+ with markups. I was cross shopping with a new Type R but, unfortunately, I was not able to find any that were under $50k. Also, I'm not a fan of red interior though it's not really a deal breaker. Some dealerships were sneaky because they would tell me “we only sell at MSRP” but then charge $5k - $8k in “dealer-installed equipment”. The other dealers I dealt with would just have a flat “market-adjustment” of usually the same amount. I don’t regret my purchase because I’ll never track my GR Corolla and I think the GR Corolla is a better street car, considering the overheating issues with the oil and rear transmission portion of the car in track conditions. So far, I haven’t experienced any overheating issues. I’m getting old now, being in my mid 30s, but I still find myself enjoying the drive in my GR Corolla. It really reminds me of my previous 2019 Subaru STI in regards to interior and driving experience although the STI had more soft touch areas. It’s odd because I’ve come full circle…after I sold the STI, I got a 2021 BMW M2C and now I’m back in a JDM car. I think at MSRP, and for a strictly street car, I think the Core model is a great value to those that want the JDM experience.
@@dielaughing73 You’re right, I should rephrase that as I’m getting older, I thought my tastes would change, but at the moment, it hasn’t. As much as I liked my M2C, the general maintenance costs of a BMW M are just crazy. I did the brakes myself and just for OEM pads and rotors, it was $2.5k. The other reason is being a coupe and limited space.
@@TigerClaw03 holy crap, I just yesterday bought track pads and cheap rotors for my Miata at about 600USD all up, front and rear. OEM would have been more, to be fair
@@bextar6365 Gray and silver are the same colour as paint primer. I can scratch my Apex Silver Mitsubishi and it still looks fine. I can scratch my green motorcycle and notice it from 30 feet away.
This is one hot hatch I was genuinely disappointed with. I drove one after finding a dealer within reasonable distance of me that wanted sticker price for a loaded core edition, and when I tell you that was the shortest test drive of my life. It was the most boring 300 hp/273 tq I've ever experienced. But that wasn't even the bad part. What really disappointed me about this car was how planted yet rubbery it was. There wasn't enough character or drama because of the lack of thrill and feedback. I cannot imagine anyone wasting money on a marked up one. There are better options for less money.
With the economy uncertain, not buying a car right now makes sense for a few reasons. Firstly, cars are costly, and in uncertain times, it's crucial to save money and keep your finances stable. Using public transport or rideshares can save you money. Secondly, technology and car-sharing options offer convenient transport without the expenses of owning a car, like maintenance and insurance. Moreover, fewer cars mean lower emissions, contributing to a greener planet. Choosing eco-friendly options supports global efforts to fight climate change. Lastly, waiting lets you assess your finances when things stabilize. You can focus on saving, investing, or other essential needs like education or debts. Being patient and evaluating your needs can lead to a wise and financially responsible decision about getting a car.
My financial advisor advises buying cars when interest rates and prices are low. However, he also cautions against it right now due to the hidden costs of car ownership, like insurance and maintenance. He helps me plan for these expenses and manages my portfolio to ensure financial stability. It's all about making strategic decisions and having a well-rounded financial plan.
Thank you for the valuable insights. I appreciate your detailed explanation, which helps me understand the reasoning behind the decision. It's clear that being mindful of financial stability, exploring alternative transportation options, and considering the environmental impact are crucial factors in making a well-informed choice about purchasing a car. Your perspective, coupled with the guidance of a knowledgeable financial advisor, would undoubtedly ensure a well-thought-out and financially responsible decision. Your approach highlights the importance of expert advice in navigating these financial considerations thoughtfully.
Your financial journey is truly inspiring, and I'm currently striving to achieve the goals you've reached. Could you please share some tips to help others learn and navigate their own paths to financial success? Your insights would be invaluable.
I believe everyone could benefit from having a personal financial advisor. They can assist you in reaching your customized financial objectives at any point, ensuring you remain profitable.
This is a "don't meet your heroes" car. $50k for a Corolla, plus it's running a ton of boost to get the 300hp out of a 3 cylinder. As mentioned, a thermal nightmare. Curious how durable these engines will be long term.
As a GR Yaris owner (and big fan of SG) I found the deficiencies real but overblown! Clearly when you run 265 width tires in car with stock 225 you will significantly accelerate the rise of clutch pack temps. I run 245 Cup2’s and by adding a 70euro 3D printed device directing air flow to the clutch pack allows me 15-20min sessions in Hockenheim w/o issues during summer (and even it overheats a couple of cool down laps are enough to bring temps down). Try heat wrapping the exhaust and it’s even better. If not enough there is a differential cooler as well. Stock GRY pads are 60 euros and while they don’t last long (3-4 hard track days max) they are soft to the expensive brake rotors. With just tires and brake fluid change I could outlast many cars in Salzburgring. Oil temps rise but anyone who goes tracking often will have the oil cooler on top of the list. So I still believe it’s one of the best options out of the box for tracking (clearly at double the price of the GRY in Germany not a bargain). Try taking a stock Cayman S, M3 or RS3 to a trackday and see what happens to oil temps and brake pads/fluids. Would also expect a big aftermarket coming to US soon building on Asian/European parts for the GR Yaris (where some of them should fit straightaway)
Interesting color choice. Reminds me of the green Eddie Bauer edition Ford Explorers from the late 90's... Looks good on it! Especially with those bronze wheels.
yeesss...i love those so much, ive only ever seen two. and I hope to one day see a dark green town car with a brown cloth top. i love those weird old person styles
I would love to own one, coming from a current gen WRX Limited. But I kind of find the low tech features here and interior to be a downer when compared to a WRX limited. That plus a higher MSRP, markups and super low availability for a slight increase in hp and avoiding being seen in a sedan with cladding lol. Still, being a 3 cylinder awd hatchback Toyota with a manual makes it SO tempting to buy!
the video exposes the fact that the GR C is not a very good track car--the rear diff overheats, the oil overheats, it cuts timing, good god it's terrible. You would be way better off building a dedicated track car from a kitcor something
The big wig says "you have 2 weeks to figure it out, I already told the world that the car will be ready by then. Otherwise you're fired" Engineer does whatever they can and hopes it doesn't surface, and tells their boss it's all done 2 weeks later.
Every Corvette ever made has cooling issues from the factory. It's just that the boomer-buying demographic never drives past 4/10ths, so it wasn't widely reported.
the car has no temp problems for the majority of people. those pushing very hard on track are the only ones who see it, guess what 90% of owners dont do, take the car out on track.
Almost every car made has problems running hard at the track, performance model or not. The closest comparison to this is probably the STi and it eats motors, so not so bad.
Crazy how much work you need to do to a "Circuit" edition to actually get it ready for the track. Considering how much money they cost, you'd think they would come ready out of the box for the customer
So simple, just a few more thousands dollars of mods and potentially losing the engine warrranty if shits break cause you installed a oil cooler. @@BCNeil
Regarding the rear diff - Cusco make a billet rear clutch pack cover that will increase the amount of fluid in the pack by 50%, as well as act as a heatsink.

Idk why "1990s green" fell out of fashion. It looks so good on so many cars, especially hatches, trucks and SUVs.
not really
@nooooooooooo6uoki67 Oh sorry, my bad.
That’s from WAY before the 90s, dude. “British Racing Green”.

Kinda hilarious that Limit +1 specializes in 3 Toyota GR cars, but they're actually dealing with a Toyota, a BMW, and a Subaru.
GR venza ftw
That’s how you do the product placement like a boss
I have NEVER been more HONORED to watch an ad in my life lmao. That was pure cinematic genius.
I appreciate the balance of technical information and quality of production along with humor that is right up my alley. Thanks guys!

Big fan of videos off track and seeing how it drives on real roads. Awesome and honest video!
In two years into tuxmats in two of my cars and I’ve had 0 scratching issues. Must me specific to your make/model.

I used no clips on my Tuxmats, fit and stayed fit
No clips used in my Outback & Niro = no problems
Last weekend I instructed a toyota GR experience student in his GR Corolla at Ozark International raceway and I have to say the car is pretty fantastic. Completely stock brakes are phenomenal. The suspension is damn good for a street car and handle a lot like a stock E46 M3 competition coupe. In track mode the AWD allowed the car to rotate in high speed corners. We didnt run into any heat related issues but air temps were 70's. As an occasional track day and street car the GR corolla is pretty fantastic. Looking forward to the aftermarket solving the heat related issues for dedicated tracking.
Imagine the work and skill needed to put Saran wrap on an entire car. Bravo! Most of us struggle with plates and jars.
That auto emergency call service is hilarious and infuriating at the same time. I'd throw the infotainment out of the window if it did that to me at the track.
[proceeds to end the video in a collision]
I honestly would lose my mind. "Circuit" edition my ass!
What's weird is that I did an entire day of rallycross abuse in my GRC and that feature never activated. Wonder what the parameters for it are.
Then you would experience a very vindictive car and manufacturer. The automotive experience is already a creepy nightmare.
Is it the same unit? GKN I think. There's about a thimble of fluid in the unit so it's not surprising it overheats.
@@MSportsEngineering I know the Focus RS uses the GKN system which I believe the GR Corolla is also using, either way they are both clutch pack based designs
Yeah, dumped the RS for the overheating issues. Looks like this car is also a no-go for track days. Shame.

That dream sequence and ending are f-ing hilarious, original, old Top Gear hilarious, I was spitting my Sake out. 🤜🏽❤️
The green wrap and bronze wheels look amazing!
Disappointing to hear that the clutch pack, oil, and IATs are getting too hot after just a very short time on the track for a HPDE. That seems crazy to me given how Toyota positions this car.
What's more upsetting is Toyota didn't design a fix Or even plan on or for a future fix
The Gr overheats meanwhile Hyundai ran the Veloster N and Elantra N for 24 hours straight on track, no issues. And they’re not even dedicated track cars!
@@revmatchproductionsTrue, but the GR Corolla isn’t a dedicated track car, either.
@@neurokinetik It's permanent. I don't know if you can revert it tho.
@@elantran That's good, because that's actually what I would want.
Air conditioning re-route?
So which do you prefer for DD use? EN or GRC? It kinda seems like either of these would be my next car. Very likely will never step foot on a track, just spirited road driving.
i am still driving my s2000 , and it breathes and even runs better at this cool moment. what i have done only is the SPoon intake extension. i believe it really helps in summer too.
That color combo is perfection. Perfect fitment too.
That tuxmat commercial might be the best ad ever made. I was genuinely scared & titillated simultaneously. Well done lads. Well done.
As a Spruce Mica Green (6V4) owner.. I was having heart murmurs about the likelihood of getting a green GR Corolla.. But knowing it is wrapped alleviates some anxieties. Beautiful colour choice!
Literally my fav color/rim combo, reminds me of the 86 Hakone edition 👌
mine to!
The car looks really good! Perfect color with those wheels. Great fitment and its nice to see the tires sticking out a little bit past the rim
I recommend the TH-cam channel Rötheli Racing to see the rear differential oil cooler and the exhaust insulation
Yeah, I'd read about these solutions too. I'm surprised they weren't mentioned in the video.
Rötheli Racing
I figured the air dam would do a lot of it. Didn't know the exhaust was right there. Makes a lot of sense why it does overheat.
The car wrapped in green looks incredible! It looks like an absolute blast to daily👍🏻
Which dealership?
Wait, I’m in upstate, which dealership?
Glad you're enjoying it! To the other upstate New Yorkers if you want to drive Watkins Glen reach out to me. My GR Corolla probably won't be tracked there (I have an older BMW for that) but it's nice to meet the GR family and get some people charging hard on track. I've also been to Pineview Run and I wanted to do New York Safety Track but ran out of funds :(
Is it possible to update the exterior from aftermarket.
I would like to see a long term test of the Elantra N. This is an excellent video beautifully edited! The wrap is beautiful. Truly a shame that heat management makes this not a complete track car stock.
That would be an awesome series to watch
Honestly as much as look into offerings in this class the EN rises to the top every time. FWD only is a disappointment in basically anything other than clear weather, but the EN is extremely impressive overall.
After the heat issues I had with my 2019 type R. The Elantra N had been a wonderful experience.
@@Lost_investor888 is that what you have now? EN?
@@MeltingRubberZ28 yes
People have been putting a heat shield between the diff clutch pack and the exhaust and also wrapping the exhaust to cut down overheating.
That's got to help, at least for a while
Love how the wrap is so close to the Toyota Black Forest metallic from the 2010s era
The over heating rear diff is something Toyota needs to fix, 10-15 mins before the rear diff over heats and switches to fwd mode. I saw you guys on Autobahn on Sept 30th, I had the same issue in my GR Corolla with my sessions.
This has been my favorite tux mat ad.
I would love to see Mark in the backseat as Jack rips it around.

The cinematography the end with the floor mats was pure gold . Super funny , I love it
The Lycos Web Search query alone made the product placement segment classic.
Thanks for shilling the tuxmats mark, they were a blessing to have on my s2000. They survived a leaking oil bottle and it cleaned up so easily.

Many Type R owners cross shop the GR Rolla with the intent to track. Would be interested to have direct comparison of the deficiencies of each.
Another masterpiece car video… I love the film noir ad for Tux Mats as well!
Don't talk yourself into "getting old" just yet mate. Plenty of time for that in a couple of decades (if ever)!
@@dielaughing73
You’re right, I should rephrase that as I’m getting older, I thought my tastes would change, but at the moment, it hasn’t.

I love that Wrap. Almost British Racing.

This is a "don't meet your heroes" car. $50k for a Corolla, plus it's running a ton of boost to get the 300hp out of a 3 cylinder. As mentioned, a thermal nightmare. Curious how durable these engines will be long term.
I’d rather just get a 2015+ Mini JCW to 300hp with a tune on a turbo 4cyl… I understand it’s FWD but they have a racing team.
36k and it only has issues with track use. If you're only using it on the street with spirited driving you'll never have an issue.
Great ending.
These videos are simply unrivaled
Just a heads up we had this problem with the car stock and on our press car in previous video with car and driver.
Wow the dark green with bronze wheels looks absolutely stunning!
31:02 segment is hilarious. Jack "piano" Black bringing that Johnny Business attitude.
didn’t know you guys were doing this can’t wait to see how it goes i’ve been debating purchasing one HEAVILY
Outstanding summary of ownership thus far, masterpiece of an add in the middle, and cliffhanger ending. This one had it all!
Wish I had an extra $75k laying around to spend on a cool car, mods, and track days. Looks like fun.
the video exposes the fact that the GR C is not a very good track car--the rear diff overheats, the oil overheats, it cuts timing, good god it's terrible. You would be way better off building a dedicated track car from a kitcor something
That old adage "follow the money" still applies.
Drop 30k instead with a Gr86
I need to get a truck first.

Loved the twist at the ending!
How do presumably competent engineers sign off on a performance model that has all of these temperature problems?
The big wig says "you have 2 weeks to figure it out, I already told the world that the car will be ready by then. Otherwise you're fired"
Engineer does whatever they can and hopes it doesn't surface, and tells their boss it's all done 2 weeks later.
@@jc151racingsomething something motors are fixed in later gens, etc etc no motor problems in 30k miles
PPF the floor mats!!!! Brilliant. Who thinks of that! A detailed fella that’s for sure
The clear and simple solution to the emergency detection problem is just to have it automatically disable when you put it in a certain driving mode.
LAWYERS
Just see if there is a fuse for the modem
Or pull the sim card.
Hyundai has a small battery for sos, you could unplug it and it will stop working, but it is hidden behind all kind of plastics in the interior
Well this was the most creative video I ever saw on TH-cam! I hope Mark gets all the Tuxmats he needs to make his dreams come true!
I’ll be keeping my ‘18 Focus RS, Mark & Jack. 😂
What a shitbox! as comfortable as falling down a flight of stairs.
Would love to see you all talk through the Limit +1 development for the GR Supra and 86!
Crazy how much work you need to do to a "Circuit" edition to actually get it ready for the track. Considering how much money they cost, you'd think they would come ready out of the box for the customer
Naw its simple. New airbox, some sort of oil cooler. Then you just need to design from scratch a rear clutch pack. You can do that in a weekend ;)
So simple, just a few more thousands dollars of mods and potentially losing the engine warrranty if shits break cause you installed a oil cooler. @@BCNeil
I agree man but anyone buying one of these over msrp isnt working on the car themselves anyways the average joe would see this being more of an issue.
Did multiple track days with a stock GRC CE with 0 issues. You don't need to do anything to make it track ready.
Regarding the rear diff - Cusco make a billet rear clutch pack cover that will increase the amount of fluid in the pack by 50%, as well as act as a heatsink.
its funny....i just rattle can painted my car a year ago and it was super easy and the results ended up being VERY good...i then wrapped the hood black and i gotta say....ID RATHER PAINT A CARE ANY DAY OF THE WEEK than wrap.....wrapping is such a pain in the ass....alot harder and in my opinion isnt lasting very long i already have a few chips in it where as my painted still looks like new....wrap dosnt do well in extream temps also i would like to point out....here in canada it gets down to -35 to -40c all winter long and the wrap is supper riddget and is very prone to chipping during this time.....
End results i would never suggest wrapping a vehicle to anyone....just keep the factory paint in good shape that you paid for
Holy moly, the tuxmat dream was the next level. Best thing on this channel since the toto review and the Arby's offroading in the 4runner. Better than the lfa and Buick cross sabre.
Those detailer guys are artists! Deep respect.
