Hi, thank you for the comment, the O2 sensor is the main component used for monitoring the engine's air fuel ratio and running conditions, if the ecu tells you the A/F ratio is to lean, it is getting that information from the pre cat o2 sensor, it might be a faulty sensor but it could also mean you have an issue with the injection system, a vacuum leak... Causing the engine to run lean.
Hello friend, I have the n42 engine 318i e46 2002 my car drives me crazy for a misfire in cyl 3 but when I get some rpms and speed and get low the car don’t show the misfire, I checked with inpa las time and get the 2823 error oxygen sensor heater before cat but the car have 4 sensors and I can’t realize which sensor I have to replace, because this sensor may be it’s the reason of the misfire cyl 3 . Can you tell me witch sensor it’s? Thank you
Well if you do have 4 oxygen sensors, there are probably 2 sensors before the the catalytic converters and 2 after, the ones after are only there to tell if the catalytic converters are doing there job. The ones before comunicate with the ecu so if you have misfires, those could be the faulty ones I would try replacing both of the front ones🙂
@@_Project46_ thank you for the reply? You tell me that the after cat don’t cause misfire correct? That’s important, becouse 2 sensors are from the exhaust so the engine immediately cyl 1 and 4 and 2 and 3, then other sensor before cat and one after cat . In the real oem page the diagram name ones as lamba probe and other monitor oxygen so, what’s the difference and which one is the faulty? Thank you
Well sometimes, I had random fault codes popping up saying there was an issue with the pre cat 0² sensor, and on top of that, a rough running engine with unstable rpm's after starting can indicate that the sensor preheater is bad. I hope this helps and I wish you good luck🙂
hy dude 😊 1 questions witch e46 you own, and if its 316i. when yes online says me i have 4 to remove but cant see it . however in 4 days i will replace it , mb you answer . peace
I have the pre facelift version of the 316i so it has the m43b19 engine wich has 2 O² sensors, the facelift variants so the ones after 2001 have the n42 engine if i'm not mistaken wich have 4 sensors, hope this helps🙂
Hi, i have problem "lean to rich sensor threshold" is it related to the oxygen sensor ?

I hv 320D 2004 mdl. Where s my car Ox censor?
Diesel variants do not have O2 sensors so no worries in your case😉
@_Project46_ great... süper:-)

hi dude, how u diagnose?
