Do you still plan on doing a video on the main plastic door panel refurbishment?

What a Beautiful Job ? Can you say around how much a job like this would cost ?

      Hi,
      Thank you.
For all cost enquiries please email sales@bespokeleathering.com
Not putting costs up keeps the thread clean so that people do not get misslead if reading months from now as costs change.
      Kind regards...BL

This is a great video, thank you for sharing! I have one question about removing the leather panel though. Under where the armrest is located, there are several elongated "welds" that are different from the ones you showed being drilled out. Do you just drill those out too? They are stumping me, I have everything else loose. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have. :)

      Hi,
I know the ones you are on about. Yes, you can drill those out as well. Again, just take the heads off them.
If you have a heat gun with a directional nozzle you can even slowly heat them up to soften the plastic and manipulate it with a flat head screwdriver.
Because they are larger, and after putting screws in ( if the drill them off) get some black hotmelt glue stitcks and use them. You dont need a glue gun, just heat the stick up.
      Good luck!....BL

Great video, Bespoke…! Superb work and great execution. Kudos on the result! Truly helpful to a lot of us E46 M3 owners out there.
Can I ask…have you ever refinished the non-leather, black parts of the door cards. The black lower parts of the door cards can get pretty beat up on these M3s. Would love to hear your ideas and/or see a video if you have a method that works best.
Thanks again for a great video!

Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated 🙏
The door cards suffer from two things that can be address.
      1. As you have pointed out, the bottom of the door card which recieves and few kicks overs the years making it looks a little aged.
      2. The speaker surround which gets scratched and marked.
The lower section as you know is the main outer part of the doocards. This can 100% be renovated so that it looks like you had just purahsed it new from BMW. Yes, there are the small marks to the surface ( usualy on the edges) and a little work can help to better these.
The speaker housing again, can be renovated so that it looks brand new which is something we have done quite a few times..
I do have some spare door cards so what i will do is plan in the next few months another "Classroom" video to show how both can be restored.😎

Hi mate, cracking video! How do you go about re attaching the leather panels? To the door cards after drilling the heads off? Thank you!

      Hi,
      Thank you!
When the insert is removed you will see small tubes, and this is what’s left when removing the heads. You can use small 4mmx20mm wood screws to reattach. You may need some 13mm washers as well. Hot melt glue (I use Black) is put over the heads of the screws once they are all tight to prevent them from vibrating loose.
*Please do not drill all the way through the main door card (seen in the video when the insert is removed) as you will be using some of that material to put the washer on which the screw will go through to help pull it tight.*
There will be a couple of places where you cannot use the screws as it's too shallow. For these areas a few drops of hot melt will be fine. The main “grab” is with the screws.
I would not advise using hot melt glue only or any other bonding agent because if you want to remove and colour change them again or if your first attempt of refitting doesn’t not work then it can get very messy.

      Hi,
Minor repairs are carried out but never charged as the results are never perfect ( seamless, lasts/ages well & look like its never had an issue)
Im yet to do a video showing a full door card recover as well as the speaker housing but will put it on the list...BL

How did you go about reinstalling the insert? What type of screw and such did you end up using to make it as secure as it was while it was welded together?

    • @bespokeleathering
      @bespokeleathering  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi,
When you cut the head off the top of the welds, on most there is still the remainder of the tube thats part of the insert. You use short fat wood screws with a washer and screw into them. You can first drop a bit of black hotmelt into the hole then screw the screw-with wash in. There will be enough to hold the insert insecurely. You can then apply addtional Black ( dont use clear) hotmelt glue to make the fix stronger. When you attached the arm pad/pull this will also add to it being secure...BL
