    The Ford Escort RS Cosworth is a rally version homologation special of the fifth generation European Ford Escort. It was designed to qualify as a Group A car for the World Rally Championship, in which it competed between 1993 and 1998. It was available as a road car from 1992 until 1996. The powertrain was only fitted to this version of the Escort, a longitudinally mounted Cosworth YBT, a highly tunable turbocharged 2.0 L (1,993 cc) with a bore x stroke of 90.8 mm × 77 mm (3.57 in × 3.03 in) Inline-four engine[1][2] which had an output of 227 PS (167 kW; 224 bhp) in standard trim. Tuning companies have achieved power outputs in excess of 1,000 bhp (746 kW; 1,014 PS)

    Try changing your temp sensor, the ecu reads from the temp sensor and adjusts fueling to suit temp.

    • @alancobbin
      @alancobbin ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Exactly,I did put this in the first video,when the ECU coolant temp sensor completely fails it will show up as an ECU failure fault code,makes the car run like a turd and will cut out and won’t restart until it’s cooled down ,I’m surprised Adam hasn’t scanned this as the OBD port is on the N/S/F suspension turret near the battery.

  • @TechnoFeather
    @TechnoFeather ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Adam! I would install a A/F gauge and maybe check some volts on the ecu very carefully.
    I would be careful with the breakcleaner around plastic, especially the Plugs/wires. Can do more harm than good. For this you can get special contact cleaner spray.
    Also note: open your garage door if you leave the cossie idling! 💀 Better safe than sorry.
    Next time a bolt is round, try cuting a line into the head so you can get it loose with lots of rust remover and a flathead screwdriver. Or you could also get yourself a small torch like for cooking and heat the bolt right up until it glows. I know, that also wouldn't be ideal next to the fuelfilter.😅
    If you remove anything sticky the next time heat it up with a hairdryer. Just not too much or else you'll damage the paint. I would've rather closed the holes from the rear number plates and just to minor paint adjustments since its behind the number plate. With this now it could start to rust.
    You can also write the current milage on the fuel filter with a water resistant marker.
    Just some small tips from one DIY-fella to another one. ✌️💪

    Id try and get the injectors on a flow bench, see if they are all still working ok, one not actioning properly could cause issues like lumpy idle. Great video, shows how many problems an old performance ford can get, they cost that much to insure, the maintenance was just about enough to keep them going, looked like a very old fuel filter, not something commonly changed on petrol cars, but it was good to change it!!

  • @LeeTillbury

    Have a look at the Mass Air Flow Sensor it gets dirty from oils coming from the cone air filter which get into the air intake and MAF sensor, try cleaning it / replacing, Standard air box is way better, Cone air filters take in heat from the engine bay and can rob you of power as well causing other issues.

    Hi Adam enjoying the content with the new project, when i fit new plates i measure the plate, then i place masking tape on the bumper top and the 2 sides
    make sure the tape looks and is level, then fit the double sided tape and the place the number plate under the masking tape and inside the 2 tapes on the sides.
    Another tip, when removing glue residue from vehicles body panels i use mineral turps to clean the glue residue, let it soak on the glue, then rub with a soft rag.
    Plus the mineral turps will not damage the paint.

    Just a suggestion, if there was fuel in the tank when you bought it, even if you have added some fresh fuel, flush out the tank put in some new fuel and some injector cleaner, ( don’t know how effective injector cleaner is ) run the car and see if it makes a difference.
    On small engines fuel that is between 6 months and 12 months gum up the fuel system and even after a carb overhaul the fuel is less combustible and the engine will not start.
    During COVID lockdown I only used one tank of fuel in approx 2years, my car ran like as you say a box of spanner’s , however I had to do a long journey as lockdown was relaxed, I topped up and set off , I did 1200 miles so all the old fuel was either burnt of well diluted car has ran sweet as a nut since. I didn’t use the injector cleaner but have it for the future. My car is 7 years old and hasn’t done 30,000 miles yet.

    funnily enough had all these bothers with my st170. was on and of with us replacing ancillaries and coil pack over 6 months. ended up having a bent exhaust valve seating like a bag of shit. ended up replacing a few valves and doing a cylinder head jobby on it. after sitting for so long with dirty oil was causing friction on the valves and guides. loving the escort though dude shes looking sweet.

    Adam for doing lots of paint on parts like your fuel filter cradle wiper arms other bits n pieces I swear by applying a few coats of Hycote Gloss Black Engine Enamel.......lovely finish and it'll far outlast your satin black.
