Adam, don't be scared of the lift I install these as my full time job, they are really safe and would be so much easier to work on the car if you use it as intended. This car is being given the love it should always have had, can't wait to see the progress over the winter, I'm guessing now you'll do more than you bargained for😊
Twin busch is a quality lift a lot of professionals use them. The concrete underneath might not be up to it so better to do it on the floor if it's going to be there for a while. Consider getting a rottisserie spit adam👍🏻
The connectors on the fuel lines and if you push the small tabs at the side and the push towards you then pull they come off I think and I wouldn't have just cut the good ridge hose mate
That ramp is safer than axle stands btw mate, if the ramp was ever to fail it would drop about 2 inch on to safety locks/nuts and no more. It's scary at first being under them but you get used to it, definitely utilise it as much as you can, your body will thank you later
I think he is more worried about it yanking itself out of the thin garage slab and falling on him than the lift actually failing. Would have been better off with a 4 poster.

I am sure you will do the car proud Adam, I remember when I had such enthusiasm for them, getting covered in shite on my back for hours pulling them apart in a cold garage, with grazed bloody knuckles from cruddy, rusty rounded off nuts and bolts.

Hi Adam Are you going to build a little 'booth' around the car so you don't get Shultz splattering your garage and your lovely white 3 door? I've done similar before with plastic sheeting, kind of like a mini paint booth, but I've also bought a cheapo gazebo and used that, then slung it when I was finished. Great videos mate, absolutely love them.
Watching this reminded me of when we stripped the cossie estate down ,if its worth doing its worth doing well ,full strip ,powder coat everything, rebuild the diff ,uprate all the bushes replace all the brake and fuel lines ,fit a brand new exhaust, refit then attack the front end. It's a cossie after all, it's worth doing and it's worth doing well.
A mate of mine has a two post lift at home. I've used it a few times. They should have a mechanical ratchet safety spall (like on a car handbrake). The lift will make clicking noises as it goes up as it passes the teeth on the ratchet. Once you've got the lift as high as you want, you let the lift drop until it catches on the spall. It won't fall on you once it's locked mechanically.
On those aluminium heat shields, they suffer from electrolytic corrosion between the ally and the steel fixings, so they rot out around all the mounting points. They're compressed aluminium foil. I've repaired them before by using bits of beer cans and aluminium tape to remake the sections that have corroded. Once you get a few layers of tape on you can use a hammer & dolly to compress it and it looks OEM. I repaired ones on my daily BMW 2 years ago and they are still holding up.
great car, someones done some real bodge jobs on car all the under spray sealer and that messy grease around tank connections, good to see you doing the jobs properly and saving a great car.
I had to go bed for a hour after watching that it made me knackered just watching how much work that is .. . Wow I take my hat of to you what a job to take on fair play
Have a 2 post lift myself, takes time to build confidence working underneath. Suggest you buy some of those 2 ton tall axle stands. They from 900mm upwards. For me i have made some 500mmx500mmx500mm alignment tables which i can use if need be.

Told you this before always always remove the negative 1st. Then if your spanner touches any body work it won’t short out and risk setting fire to the hydrogen gas from the battery
I have done almost exactly same job to mine. Fuel tank hose connection part was so rusty that i have to make new one from stainles steel. I seal it whit large o-ring. There was lot of engineering.
The heatshield has those penny washers for a reason. Over time the steel fixings holding it up react with the alloy heatshield and the holes dissolve. The washers effectively plug the holes and stop it dropping. When you put it back, coat the penny washers and the hidden side of the heatshield with Bilt Hamber Dynax UB. The aerosol is good for spraying over the surface areas, and they also do a tub for brushing onto small stuff like washers or grease nipples (you will wonder why you never bought the brush-on tub earlier, it's brilliant). Water spray etc won't shift it, and as it is inert it will prevent the corroded holes in the heatshield from getting worse. It can feel a thankless task getting the underside done, but when sorted properly it's one of the best things you can do to have confidence the car will last for years to come.

always disconnect the negative first, because your ratchet is live and can short against the body doing the positive first.
Fair point 👍🏼

Re-connect the negative last too Adam.
