Do what I do, buy last years medium to top spec model used for almost 1/2 price. I just got an i5 ThinkPad X1 for £900, it was double that a year ago and more than good enough. Very versatile, slot in Wacom pen, fingerprint reader, twin TB3 ports etc. My main is a 2019 8 Core MacBook Pro for video editing and where most dosh went, the ThinkPad my to go biz machine. Would happily go Dell, but the Wacom pen made me go Lenovo. Anyway, here in UK, keep an eye on what CEX have in their window. Always a few business laptops in once in a while. Often old stock from retailers or dumped by rich students, so in pretty good condition.
The best thing about these kinds of laptops is that in a year's time you can usually nab them on eBay from hardware refurbishers for a third of the price. Recently picked up a mint Latitude 7390 2-in-1 with an 8250U and 4G for $700AUD...

Windows Hello on my Surface Pro 4 has no problem recognizing my face. My main PC, which uses a Logitech Brio camera, frequently has problems recognizing my face. It's as if it's got to find my face right away or else forget it. It just doesn't work.
It still needs the brick tho, as that brick is converting your home electrical current to be used to charge your laptop as the brick current suggests. Imagine you're plugging your laptop without charging brick directly to a 110V/220V 800W home electricity.
It doesn't work without a brick. Actually, all devices that don't have a brick on their power cables have it hidden somewhere inside them, and you wouldn't want it inside a portable device. It's for AC to DC conversion.
@@agantrenown3959 yes, but not what I meant, I want to plug directly to the wall and inside the computer a super cool set of small, efficient, cheat chipset turn AC to DC and that's it
My old laptop had this alien technology back in 2014. The laptop would turn its screen on whenever I walked up on it. It creeped me out at first, I even thought that the guys from NSA were being nice to me lol Then I realized why all of that would happen. The wireless mouse I bought with my laptop was a little bit too sensitive. So whenever I pulled my chair or bumped to my desk a little bit, the sudden movement would be recognized by the mouse and the mouse would wake the laptop up. All of that, without FBI's help :')
I still have my 9 year old Dell Latitude E6400 ATG (at launch it was $3,000) after 4 years. Got it for free from my college due to my Surface RT not being able to handle my schoolwork.
Dell l'attitude is the best lineup of a laptop there is, I've been using latitude since I discovered this line from a laptop discount on eBay like ten years ago, and I've been switching but always and only on the latitude line... Great quality and performance, I know this sounds like a fake review but it isn't just really satisfied with the quality
When he plugged in the charge port into the laptop my iPhone SE screen lit up showing "80% fully charged" perfect timing. Love your videos by the way MrMobile! 😉👌
That's the one I'm looking at buying. I'd expect it to be like last year's model, but with a proper webcam, more performance, and perhaps less battery life because of that performance. Otherwise, it's the same laptop.
@@blotter-water All I wanted was for them to fix the webcam's location, and perhaps the DPC issues some people had. However, I suppose I'll keep my eye out for cheap, second hand 7580s since they're not the newest anymore. Either way, I'm strapped for cash, so I've got time to make a decision.
Windows Hello works for me 100% of the time on my Surface Book 2. It has not once failed - and it's fast. Perhaps it's more down to the hardware or calibration? Just a thought.
Great review. Windows Hello working only 70% of the time? I'm up to probably 98-99% now (Surface Pro 5), but the first couple weeks on a new or recently wiped device can give you lower numbers. That's because Hello improves on its facial recognition, but only slowly.
i think the tech to for windows hello facial recognition is already available for a few years (examples : my ol lenovo y700 with windows hello ir camera) but this is the first time i see OEM implement it like this.
@MrMobile... Could you please look into the Lenovo S340. They have launched a laptop with Ryzen 5 3500 and Vega 8 integrated graphics and some fairly decent specs. Would love to see the review for that.
Is this feature could be made available on all windows hallo laptops, that would be awesome. What I hate is that windows won't do it until apple does it. Why? Why?
Nice review. The market for PCs is hard for me to get a handle on. I buy a pc each 4-5 years now, an my use is business. Software and potential software bloat is my biggest issue.
The infra red scanners were making my eye strain more and wear out faster ... It heats up the retina ... So i stopped using that stupid eye tracking thing
