Ariana told him multiple times what she needed for intimacy. While she was defending him all season long, he was setting up the narrative that she was neglectful and he was increasingly unhappy. Ariana’s dog and grandmother died and he was not interested.
Also, James is immature, but he and Raquel were engaged. He brought her into the group.

@@msjulsfl Yeah - Bravo overall (well, most trash TV shows) is one big pile of mental health issues, unresolved traumas and personality disorders. t makes for good TV, but as a whole, it's a little awful to exploit people that are obviously not Ok. They sign up for it though, so who knows.
You all do realize that Tom's relationship with Ariana started the same way when he cheated on Kristin right? He is a habitual cheater and will never find the one to ever fully be happy with.
Yes he lied to Ariana saying that him and Kristen were done because they hadn't had ssx in 3 mos....she explains that in the reunion when she said he coached her on th PR after it came out he lied to Ariana and Kristen but he wasn't having sex with Ariana because Ariana had issues because of her body dismorphia from the abusive ex....so she wasn't hoping into bed because he's very shy sexually

I am glad you stripped it down to the simple truth that he is a Narcissist who does not take any accountability for his actions.

It was NOT Ariana who drove him to do this.
What is sick is that Ariana has SAID in interview podcast that she said, it would "end her life" if he broke up with her and detailed to him all the ways it would ruin her life. It's possessive, manipulative, controlling. She has history of extreme suicidality showed in People article, so it has that connotation

I was a little bummed he did this one and didn't know more about it, it's the perfect show for evaluation...they are all so emotionally stunted! That said, James is an immature little worm, but it was his ex with his friend. It changes things a little for sure! Starting with the earlier shows does sort of change the context, I'm sure, I don't imagine it's nearly as fun without all the history!
Ok so if you don’t really know the history then he should not do this evaluation because James is Raquel’s ex fiancé for five years and Sandoval was his close friend .. so don’t be like Howie Mandel unless u r seeking attention 😂😂😂😂😂

No these are not twenty somethings anymore who want sex, booze, and dirty apartments...these are 30 to 40 somethings who want the nice home, beautiful babies with a partner who wants that too.
Tom who had many of us believing he was that guy now has morphed into the creepy guy who now owns 5% of Tom/Tom...thinking he was the big cheese who stands alone/does what he wants. It all went to his stubborn narcissistic head.
James was engaged to Raquel, and Tom helped pay for their engagement 😳 so he held his relationship with him in high regards, he was like his confidant

They were together for 5 years that's how she got on the show. You will see people call her Rachel because it's her real name. James used to get on all of our nerves but he has won us over this last season and we now calm him the #1 guy. Can't wait for your reunion videos!

OMG yes... I agree with you about James. He is very immature and has some serious control / impulse control / anger issues. Raquel is his ex fiance, but he was quite controlling and verbally abusive towards her in their relationship. Hence why people were Team Raquel when she ended that relationship and and thought she would come into her own, gain confidence and be a star on the show. Instead we watched as she really just floundered, looked to men for "fun" but really for something she else she seemed to be lacking in, which lead to her affair with Tom (along with his self-centered mid-life crisis).
James downs treat Ali the way he treated Rachel. I think the problem was Rachel.
Of course Tom felt something he hadn't felt in a long time. It's called "getting some strange"

Tom was Jame’s mentor/defender, Rachel was James’s ex-fiancé. Tom has cheated before and deflected the scorn on Jax. Rachel 28-29! Tom somewhere between 39-41? Tom & Jax like to compete for the top guy on the show.
Honestly i watch VR for entertainment, i really can't bring myself to feel sorry for any of them. They seem like they're not real friends to begin with. It'll be awesome if you'd do the reunion too, it seems to be one of the most anticipated shows yet.

For years I have wished for a show like this, that helps people understand why people behave in certain ways. I would love to see this for Housewives or other reality shows, I always wonder what makes people tick. It could benefit everyone involved including the fans. Great job!
David, you need to understand, Ariana was grieving the losses of both THEIR dog, Charlotte, AND her grandmother. So, no, she wasn’t exactly “in the mood.” There are so many other nuances that you aren’t aware of.
Tom’s always been narcissistic. Rachel was abandoned by her mother, & raised by her aunt. I believe she has maternal abandonment syndrome, along with other, deep seated, emotional issues, & hope she’s getting the treatment she desperately is in need of.Yes, her behavior was very much out of control, & abhorrent. However, I believe she is/was actually being exploited, & hope the public stops bashing her, before there’s a tragedy.

Definitely reflecting back on previous seasons and Tom groomed her.
I know Ariana doesn’t believe they broke up, but I believe that Rachel has experienced a serious wake up call. Watching how Tom handled this was cringe and embarrassing and she probably realized that was never about her or her well being, or about how amazing she is that he couldn’t help himself…but it’s always been about himself. I hope she’s seen that he’s narcissistic, that her own naivety and toxic and sub conscious need to “win” destroyed her life.
So no, I don’t believe they are together and for all those reasons, people can stop bashing on her. I think there is some sort of redemption for her in the future. Will it be in public? That I don’t know.

A similar situation actually happened to me back in the 80s. It was in a corporate setting. My BF & I lived together for 3yrs. A friend at work (no one ever met her H), would always talk about how happiky married she was & all this crazy sex she was having. I was concerned about where my relationship was going & wanted to get married. Since my BF wasn't ready, I asked him to move out, as I didn't want to waste anymore time. I regretted doing it bc I was still very much in love w/the goofball. I made the mistake of confiding w/this work "friend" telling her EVERYTHING. My hope was my BF would come back after he moved out & realized he missed me & wanted to get married (silly me!). Every day at work, this "friend" would pump me for info. I kept telling her I had a feeling he might be interested in or was seeing someone else. She told me she'd talk to my ex & see if she could find out info & help get us back together. My "real" friends & I would see them having lunch together (we worked for a big corp that had a huge campus, & our offices had floor to ceiling windows). She & my ex happened to sit at a picnic table in perfect view of everyone. The body language said it all. My ex was chomping down on lunch & my "friend" was just staring at him eating just an apple. They got up & took a walk that looked more like two people in love. Nearly daily they woukdcdo this but then it escalated to them driving away for lunch. She'd come back from lunch & tell me she couldnt get any info. Add in a girl who sat next to this friend. She was very young (19 & newly engaged). I was in my 20s as was my ex & my "friend" was in her 30s married 10yrs. One weekend everyone, but my friend, went out clubbing. To my surprise, I saw my ex making out with the newly engaged 19 yo. I was devastated. My friends & I went to a diner after clubbing (a big thing in the 80s). We were all in shock. Monday, back at work, I called my "friend" over & said I finally found out who my ex was seeing.she looked totally perplexed. "It's your 19 yo bay buddy (what we called ppl we shared a workspace with). I told her what happened & she we was stunned & upset & hugged me saying how sorry she was to hear this. It was so awkward for all of us having to work together. About a week later, I got a call from a real friend of mine who said "you won't believe who I saw at a restaurant eating dinner together this weekend." I said I already know - my ex & his new 19 yo GF. She broke her engagement. She said "no. It's your work friend that was having lunch w/your ex at work everyday." Seriously? But this was my "friend" who was "happily married & having lots of sex w/her hubby" & wanted to help get my ex & I back together. I couldnt believe it. No one could be that backstabbing. This friend who witnessed the dinner & some of my other friends decided to drive me past my ex's new place (which I knew about)& sure enough the two of them were out sunning in bathing suits outside. I had never gone to his place. My emotions were everywhere & I was so nauseous. I asked term to take me to the nearest phone booth (no cell phones back then). They thought I was calling my ex, but I was calling my now "fake friend" house. Her husband, who I never met, answered. I asked to speak with her. Her H said she wasn't home. I asked when she'd be back. He said she hasn't lived here in 3 mos! Timing? She moved out a few days after I told her I knew who my ex was seeing (the 19 yo that shared a work space w/my fake friend). I said to her H, do you know where she lives? He said no. I said "would you like to know?" He said yes. I gave him the address & left the rest to him. He said he was going to head over bc hed been trying to find her for months. She just told him there was no one else & she was living with a friend from work. He also told me he hadnt been intimate w/his wife in 2yrs bc his brother was murdered & he had PTSD. And here she was talking up her incredible sex life. I felt terrible for him. I never identified, but he thanked me profusely bc he had been anxiously searching for her & calling everyone he could think of to find her. She was cruel. My ex didn't know I knew about them. All four of my friends & I hid out (we were in a car my ex wouldnt know). The confrontation was incredible. My ex & fake friend had no idea what was coming. My ex went into the house when the H showed up & left them to discuss things. A bit of screaming went on but no brawl. Today it's nearly 36 yrs later & they are still together per a former co-worker (I guess they were meant be together after all). No children. Six months after that event, I met my one true love, married after 1.5yrs of dating, moved to another state where he went to grad school, & we were blessed to live all over the world w/his career. We have a beautiful daughter, the love of our lives, & couldnt be happier nearly 40yrs together! Things DO work out for the best & I'm sure Ariana will find her true love (I know she's dating someone). As for Tom, I think he suffers from Peter Pan syndrome & at 40, I don't think he'll ever grow up. He still thinks he's 20 something!
Wow. I know (only too well) how deeply all that had to hurt, but I'm so glad you were ultimately saved from being subjected to further harm, pain & selfishness from both of them! Thanks for sharing your story; glad it ended happily for you.
This video popped up in my list, and I am thankful for the algorithm. Love this video and immediately subbed. I think you are spot on about Tom and Rachel’s relationship. I don’t see a true emotional connection. Tom’s tears are forced and insincere. I’ve always felt he presented narcissistic behavior, and A. was his biggest supporter. To throw that relationship away for a girl who used him for an opportunity to attempt to gain rank among the cast and create a lasting storyline is vile. He certainly didn’t think this through. The ramifications are many, and for once, a narcissist is feeling blowback for his actions.
I like how you dissect and analyze Tom S. and label him a narcissist which he truly is. A forbidden fruit is always more appealing and it’s called LUSt, it’s not love. Tom’s relationship with Ariana is the real connection, lust will not last but it’ll be too late for Tom to find out.

Putting Sheana, another best friend of hers through the ringer. Who does that? Who blows up their friendship group like that? I’d appreciate your take on these people. Thank you 😊
Rachel filed the order just a few days after everything broke. It was chaos - I just don't think she has the tools to navigate such a personal crisis that became national news, the public humiliation and the online vitriol that ensued. I'm sure this was the direction of her management, PR people, maybe even her family, to not only protect her from physical harm, but to try to paint her as a victim as well.

I really liked your insights, I’ve been wanting a psychologist’s opinion on these guys for years, but maybe it would have been helpful to watch it with someone who knew the show, to give a bit of background? e.g. Katie and Schwartz in their apartments- they were in a TOXIC relationship for a really long time, and after years of being treated badly, Katie finally got the gumption to leave. The scenes might seem boring, but in context represent her liberation and decision to value herself. Just because VPR is mainly loved by girls and gays, it doesn’t make it pointless. This episode was our Super Bowl.

Ariana identified Kristen’s BPD in season 1 or 2 of VPR. She also called out Jax’s sociopathy without putting herself in his line of fire. She has an incredible mind, and a lot of discernment. So I’m baffled she didn’t see Tom’s BS. All of us have weaknesses in love, it seems.
