As others below have pointed out, Angra is intentionally designed to be awful as a servant. He exists because of the grail’s corruption, but isn’t a powerful entity whatsoever, the monkeys paw that messed up the Eisenberg line when they tried to gain an edge in the Holy Grail War. Hence, I think while his placement is justified, it should be understood he’s a deliberate choice, instead of just DW laziness
So absurdly hard to summon, and absurdly weak... But the funny part of that is that he assumes that. But well, with Asclepius/Irisviel to give him Guts and one such as Kiritusgu that put Target on an ally he may be quite useful!

Yeah, they made his NP lore-accurate. Void Aversta requires Angra to survive and stay conscious through an attack. Gameplay wise, Guts will ruin his NP damage; even then, due to his low HP, even with the multiplier, several other Servants can outmuscle him. The only saving grace is that his NP damage is truly unblockabke
Jekyll needs a soft rework, or at the least give Hyde an np of his own. He's already got decent attack and crit buff skills so maybe give Hyde an np that gives him a further buff to atk, crit weight, and generate a few stars for 3 turns.
For Hyde , single target buster np with an "go back to Jekill " effect to one of his skill , a character that can change his class is gold but DW doesn't care :(
Agreed. He wouldn't be hard to fix, he just needs some rethinking and a little minor tweaking. They've already implemented at least one character with two different NPs, and I don't know how the coding is written, but possibly more with Space Ishtar and others who can change NP card type.
To be fair to Mango, the game has him as a 0 star and he literally tells you he's the weakest. The fact that there are servants that are more useless is the real damning part for their game design.
We all get mango for his look and personality anyways. He's the legit personification of the quote " all style, no substance". He's just here to look cool and be a walking meme.
What makes Angra even WORSE is that the interlude to buff his Quick Buff skill doesn't unlock until you get him to Bond 10. Bond 10. FOR A FUCKING SKILL BUFF.
and the best (read: complete meme) part, is the the interlude is somewhat broken in that ALL the enemies are "spawned in" and LAG the every living fuck out of the fight.
Of course you need Bond 10. After popped and in 5 turns he has 200% quick up. Thats like 4 skadis. Then the power of 4 skadi's kills him but his bond with you brings him back. Jokes aside his S1 is under rated. 50% crit down will eliminate all crits from most enemies. (he's still bad though)

What makes this list is quite a few characters like Phantom, Jeckyl & Hyde or Mephistopheles they are characters are from famous literatures that have potential to be character goldmine.

Seeing that the devs can do big leaps in the justification of their abilities (since literature is interpreted differently for different people as long as the justification is logical)
Asterios is actually very nice, but he shines when the enemies have high hitcounts so he can spam his NP. He actually manages to help a lot against Goetia and Composite Deity Gorgon.
Was about to say that. His ideal usecase is a tad niche, but within his niche he’s by far the strongest unit you can get. His NP in multihit bossfights can just straight guarantee you take zero damage. Zero. Nil. Bupkis. Ridiculous
The main issue for Asterios is an issue shared with Mata Hari, he is so debuff dependent that most content just ignores him, and his niche is so extremely specific that many servants put into the exact same situation would kill whatever it was that was doing it before it can kill them rather than the other way around. Examples such as Gorgon , Goetia, and the Da Vinci fight in Reines case files being unique in this regard. (Also he has no way to remove debuffs from himself, but Command Codes deal with that just fine) But I mean, nothing and I mean nothing beats that feeling of watching him take literal marshmallows to the face from a big scary boss because he just keeps throwing them in the corner to think about what they've done which dumpsters their damage output with his unique 5 turn debuffs just stacking and stacking. (And his own very nice 40% defense buff which nearly eliminates his class disadvantage while keeping the insane Berserker NP gain) Can't wait for the update so that I can bring him from 100 to 120, but for now, need to continue on my way to bond 11.
For Angry Mango, let's also remember that if you want to get his S3 upgrade, you NEED to get him to Bond 10! No kidding, he is the only Servant in the game (at the time of writing) with an upgrade locked behind Bond 10. A total meme, in every possible way.
Asterios in honorable mentions? He is able to facetank NPs. As a berserker. And you don't need much of a setup for him. Only Mash and support Tamamo or Merlin.
Thats the issue he needs to face tank as a berserker with 1 star stats. If the boss doesn't do all alllie multi hitting np then he has very little way to get his np back outside being force feed it. In the early hame that works but as the bosses get harder the less he can face tank. And to make matters worse his method of face tanking is debuffs in a world of debuff resistant bosses.

"There are no bad Servants..." Sadly, there are. Which is a shame because all of these Servants could be serviceable with proper buffs. Minus Angra since he's intentionally difficult to use. I considered raising Jekyll and Hyde because the class change gimmick is so cool -- no other Servant can do that! Being locked out of an NP was the deal breaker. I had a friend with a level 100 J&H; what a dedicated master.
Iirc he's a completely different Servant in Fragments of Sky Silver, so, *when* the Prototype collab hits in, he could be added. Not like there's a ton of Prototype Servants to be added. The FoSS Hyde is able to fight against Brynhild, Arthur and Arash at the same time, and has a very big regeneration skill.
They need to fix him they could do since multiple classes use similar cards like how archers, assassins and other quick users but they since its been a long time of the game running they can figure it out
The crazy thing about Phantom, is that someone at Delight Works, and possibly Lasengle, likes him. He has shown up in a lot of events and stories, and always plays some kind of role that even if minor, fits him very well and gets him good screen time. You could argue they grab him anytime they need a crazed serial killer character. None of these came with a buff however.
Especially since we got Nobukatsu, I've been thinking that it might be interesting to turn one or both Gilles into a "Jeanne Support" since we have a fair number of them. But that would require tagging all of them with a new flag. I pray to Alaya that these units get buffed over time because they're the ones that show up the most and it would help enable budget teams.
I mean, when Penthesilea got released every male Greek hero had to be tagged as "greek mythology male", and when Jason got released the Argonauts got their tag too. These are tags that work with only one servant each, so adding one more for Gilles and his interactions with Jeanne-faces would be acceptable
Weirdly enough, Jeanne seems to be a Gilles support (Saber version at least), as chaining her NP after his results in the huge attack buff without the massive defense debuff. Still sucks tho, and you'll likely want the 3rd member to be someone with an offensive NP so that Gilles' Tactics skill isn't a complete waste.
For Jekyll, when he turns into Hyde he should have his buffs be permanent and unrecoverable. Then, he could either have Hyde have a turn limit until he turns back into Jekyll and loses the permanent buffs, or have some other way of turning back Geronimo needs the MHX treatment, total rework is a must lol
The tragedy of Jekyll and Hyde, entering the third year playing FGO never leveled him up, one very dear character irl for me, got excited when playing London, got him, read skills in the wiki, I knew it was trash, no way I was focusing on him, such a shame really, I think it would be nice to have some buffs for him
I think Benkei was made to be a control servant to prevent the enemy from activating their skills and np. The problem is that DW gave him very long cooldowns that it makes him not being worth using. If the give him a skill cooldown reduction or a np charge it could help him a lot.
Idk I kinda love Mata Hari as a crit support after her buff, she's not meant to solo and is an excellent crit support. Most of the others are very understandable though, especially Jekyll...god I wish Jekyll was good...
I feel bad for Jekyll/Hyde and Mephistopheles. They have such awesome character design and they're both featured in the first opening theme of the game. Jekyll too has a major role in the London Singularity. Man, he really needs a revamp. Give Jekyll abilities that will fill his NP bar and then give Hyde an NP of his own.

given the lengths Honako goes to having Cu krump just about every boss, i have little reason to doubt that Shin-iti can and will find a way to do the same with Mata-Hari.
Angry Mango isn't even featured in a CE because he is supposed to be a secret, sadly... Welp, this is how I make him work: I got him Maxed Grailed and Fou'd, I attached him the best of Command Codes (Holy Knight, Good Wife, Wedge...), and use the "Grudge Match" CE with him. He actually delivers pretty good damage, and with new Star Gen Command Codes down the road, he will hit harder. It's very fun to try to solo with him.
Before is buff, Phantom of The Opera had to use 3/4 of his kit to do one thing: Charm a Female. He had to NP to lower debuff resistance, use his 3rd skill to boost his charm chance, and them use his second skill to charm a female, which it is the most convoluted way to try to stun servant with Goddess Core and Magic Resistance, or ya know... Use the Jumpsuit stun skill.
10: Honestly with her buff I’d say she’d be more fitting for a dishonorable mention. Just debuff the enemies with two separate defense downs and have her sacrificed with either The Gong or Poster Girl. 9: God his buff pisses me off. Stars aren’t buffed and the HP recovery down is so niche nigh useless. Also his Curse has gotta be buffed. 8: Proof that DW had no idea on what their game did during year 1. Honestly I hope they buff his Tactics to turn his NP into Buster and have the Tactics be 3 turns a la Hektor. But dammit I love using him. 7: I… yeah he deserves this placement. 6: Honestly with the AoE buff removal I think that gives him a bit more usage than numbers 7 and 8. 5: JUST. MAKE. IT. HUMANOID. That wouldn’t even make him great but why make an executioner not be able to execute? 4: Honestly I’m shocked they don’t do anything with him, given his role in /Zero and the first singularity. And the anti-Foreigner damage makes it feel like they want to do *something* with him, but what? 3: Ah yes, this joke. I do feel bad for the two, they just don’t work. 2: To be fair, he warns you that he’s useless (although the comments probably spammed that, so sorry for the redundancy). But yeah at the very least his NP should be buffed to have a taunt and a stupid high maximum HP up. Dishonorable Mentions: Honestly Diarmuid could’ve taken the spot for numbers 10-7. 1: Yep no need to apologize, us Phantom fans know how useless he is. Hell unlike Gilles he doesn’t even have an AoE mental debuff to excuse Mental Corruption.
Diarumid could easily overtake Mata Hari, but his NP is still pretty good. Also for Sanson making it humanoid would be good, but I think if they desperately want to keep his theming, they should make it deal 50% damage to king servants as well, or just go full Izo and make it 100%. Honestly that would make him viable
While Sanson is one buff away from being good, changing skill 3 to humanoid makes it way too broken as a servant, and a low star at that. If skill 3 is humanoid modifier, which is already high enough at 60%, combine it with evil trait, and that is 120% damage modifier against humanoid evil enemy. That alone almost outdamages every single assassin SSR in the game (Plus making Izou completely obsolete). Healthier and better option would be to just add a 30% attack steroid on him for 3 turn on 3rd skill and that makes him viable.

Awesome video! Some servants really need an entire rework, instead of only receiving buffs. It's sad :/ And the buffs for some lower rarity units should happen more frequently. They wouldn't need to make them as strong as Arash/Chen Gong/Kojirou/supports like Hans, but at least make their gameplay useful in some way. And yeah. I also think Geronimo deserves MUUUUCH better. He's so cool!

It's sad seeing the dumpster fire that is Phantom and DW being like "Alright, alright... He has buff removal now" thinking that solves it. It's Phantom of the fucking Opera. How is he this bad. Edit: If there's ONE thing he does weirdly well, it's debuff support. As in, getting debuffs to land. His NP upgrade also buffs his OC effect to have a 50% debuff resist down for SIX FULL TURNS, making basically any RNG debuff SIGNIFICANTLY easier to land. However, the debuff resist down itself still has to land and that's not always possible with Magic Resistance or other debuff resist skills, and Phantom's NP gain is horrendous, making it hard to get access to it in the first place. Even without these problems he's just not worth it.
I used half of these guys for the first time ever during the Amazones event. I really need this event to end. Everytime I pull them out, I cry a little.
I feel this is is an event where it becomes significantly easier if you have at least one kaleidoscope. Finished the event a few days ago. You really need to use the rest areas effectively though.
@@klidge i think it's more of the servant you have in chaldea vs the one in story. Like jalter in shinjuku vs her voice lines. It gets kind of flip floppy sometimes like an original vs swimsuit version of a character
The phantom was one of my first introductions to the game, and I was so happy to get him at the time purely because he’s one of my favorite characters of all time. Then I see what they did to him and I just? Do not understand why they made him so bad. I’m going to try and not go on too long but yes the phantom servant is awful both with his stats and deck and with how they portrayed him. He qualifies for assassin because he killed people-of course-but he used a punjab, and he was so skilled he could get his rope around his victim’s neck even if they were armed. Is this mentioned anywhere at all except the original story? No. But I like to think that maybe if his noble phantasm involved the Punjab then it would be a quick card- thus fitting with his deck. I could go on, cause the (not fate!) character is one that I’ve loved for years and it hurts to see how he was handled.
Somehow wishing Asterios would get a buff for both defense and even an NP gain/battery . Was using him with Heracles until the 4th singularity then used him to nerf Goetia's NP.
I just wish that some servants just get completely redone, maybe with a massive quest because i actually like the gimick and overall theme with jekyll n hyde buuuuut good idea atrocious execution
Angry Mango is a horrible servant the only reason why i hate him. His only buff unlocks at *bond level 10* and on top of that he just can't do jack shit as his other avenger colleagues ALL out do him. He does tell he is the weakest servant ever but like... the only reason why he exists is JUST because he's a reference to other material.
It's pretty sad that Caster jill is such a bad servant because he is shown to be such a power house and overall threat that it took the grail war being put on hold with Iskandar and Artoria teaming up to take him down.
I disagree with Mata Hari placement. Her job is to come in to the battle, debuff the hell out of the enemy and go away. Her 1* HP pool is actually a blessing in disguise since you want her out of the battlefield as soon as her skill and NP are out (Same deal that with Mozart). She is an solid debuff support that can be bring to almost any team Tho, a perfect buff for her would be Taunt, and it would also make sense in lore
Such a bummer Jekyll and Hyde isn't viable cause he's one of my favorite chara irl. Wish they would rework him somehow (year 5 of waiting for prototype collab). Also Sanson cause his va is my favorite one. As well as Phantom cause I'm a fan of Phantom of the Opera.
I think it's (interesting may be the wrong word) novel consensus? that the lower echelon of Servants gameplay-wise is pretty well defined and player discussion is usually quibbles about no X is at least better than Y or, you were too easy on Z, and so on. the 13 picks given including honorable mentions are well reasoned. I would argue that Diarmiud deserves the dishonor of being numbered. middle of the list abouts #5-7, for having no optimal use cases. you have Cu. you have 2 Cus. And Taiga! well. story-locked. Like Geronimo only has one skill really yeah?, I'd almost argue F/Z's lancer has the same problem. Digression. Example of what I was talking about. Hilarious that Phantom is absolutely definitively worse than "character that is supposed to be the worst" no one would argue against that! Heck, if I'm being generous to Angra, bump him down to #4, he's awful for lore reasons, poor poor Jekkyl has a game plan that doesn't function at all. and caster Gilles? well it's a fight between skills that do nothing and an aoe NP and skills that do something and a gimmick that hardly comes up. Just me quibbling again. heh.
Phantom fan here. Mostly of the musical. I was hype when I heard he was in the game but man. They did him sooooo dirty. I raised him and everything but later learned he was pretty much the worst servant in the game. Super disappointing.
I grailed my Angra and use him for basically every important boss. Double Skadi, Summer BB, and a lucky 1st set of cards to lock make him horrifyingly strong compared to his baseline.
Jekyll and Hyde was a husbando for me so I put a lot of work into them in my early days and utilized them as a boss killer. Spend waves 1 and 2 as an assassin and do a buster brave chain with np. I stopped using him when I got more servants but he still on my husbando list
diarmud is a special kind of bad, while he in a vaccum is someone reasonable in reality his competition is so stiff he is worthless. Matahari can be an ok support for a new player. Diarmud is just always trash.
Why isn't New Mash here! They took the party's protector and made here attacker with no class advantages and low damage, remove here team skills for self buffs that are pointless for a attacker and will very likely remove her defenses NP for a Attack NP for some stupid story reason.
@@klidge the problem I have with that is that the big bosses are muti-targeter or have muti-target NP, so she most of the time either useless because she only protects herself or death folder to switch her in to protect someone else from a NP and take one turn of hits for some else if not a muti-target boss.
Angra Mainyu is my trophy servant, as in I'm never going to use him, but I keep him around because he's rarer than a 5 star and there would be no point in getting rid of him for anything anyways

Make all of Geronimo's skills party wide and have their current effects last 3 turns, then add these: S1: NP damage Up 1 time (3 turns) S2: NP Gain Up 30% 3 turns S3: Star Gen Up 30% 3 turns. G-man can't loop so that's why the NP damage up is only 1 time, but it makes him better for supporting non-loop 3 turn set ups. The NP gain up is to help make him a budget support for Servants who can loop or ones with sub-par NP gain. The Star Gen is there because I'm not too sure what else would work, maybe Crit damage? Heal amp? DEF Down? 20% Charge?
Jekyll would be a really decent servent IF his reinforced skills would work like Nero Caster's NP Gain skill. This would mean that you can use them as an Assassin, and as soon as he transforms he gets the improved buffs. This would allow him to generate and absorb stars as an Assassin, and with a Buster Brave Chain, he could benefit of his improved skill. It's such a shame his Skillset only doesnt work because of the stronger buffs getting dismissed when he casts them as an Assassin instead of only getting disabled until he turns into a Berserker..
My idea for Geronimo is to give him wild cards in his deck (ABQWW Np W). The second idea is to make all his skills have a secondary effect and be targetible. Now he's good
I'll go over some uses I've found, 10) Mata Hari is the best F2P generic damage buffer, 60% total at x/10/10 w/ her NP 9) Mephistopheles is the best Buff Blocker, and with his Innocent Monster Skill he drops his defense so with a Taunt (either another Servant's skill or a CE) he can use his buff block and then be rotated out 8) I've yet to find anything for Gilles (Saber) 7) I've yet to find anything for Geronimo 6) Benkei's upgraded NP removes all enemy Buffs so with his taunt you can rotate him in and remove all the buffs and then die 5) Sanson is one of the only F2P Debuff removers but honestly Medea is better for that and his 3rd skill is basically useless, and since his attack is pitiful (below even Hans) using him as a DPS isn't recommended 4) Caster Gilles, (on JP) he's got a 20% AoE NP DMG Debuff for the enemy which also decreases Buster and Arts Damage by 20%, his NP also reduces enemy attack by 20%, so he can be decent on a Tamamo/Mash stall team if you've got no one else 3) I've yet to find anything for Jekyll/Hyde 2) Angra can work well on a Gong/Ascelpius team but it's not really reliable Asterios can neuter a boss with a high hit count 1) Phantom got buff removal on a skill and innocent monster which drops his defense, so he can rotate in remove buffs then die taunt
Samson would be good if his 3rd skill gave him more than one buff for example np buff or even card type buff for his np He would be good or even give him a battery
Mata Hari gives the most defense down out of nearly all servants. I have unironically used her in some Raid fights. My Mephistopheles was used against Goetia to meme his scripted turn 1. Benkei has a theoretic niche with his Bond CE, on getting hit NP gen. Synergizes with berserkers and avengers who have high np gain on getting hit as base. He need more upgrades to make this work though. (My first Bond 10. No Ragrets) Hyde is potentially busted, just up his numbers and make the hyde buffs unremovable. (i just want him to be good please DW) Now for the big one Phantom has a niche and a very POWERFUL one at that, however he suffers from the same problem MH has. He can do nothing if the enemy has unremovable Debuff immunity. Not because of the charm, oh no no no my friend. Phantom lives or dies by the debuffs of his team. Phantom is the only servant in the game that can give 50-100% aoe debuff resistance down for 6 turns. Let me say that again. PHANTOM REDUCES EVERYONES DEBUFF RESISTANCE FOR 6 TURNS. Anyone who has a chance to miss their big debuffs wants phantom on their team. The best team mates are Waver with his 50% stun chance on his NP(look up phantom + double waver its nuts) and Medb(saber) who's Nice Shot! debuffs on her np have base 60% and NEED to chain otherwise it wont even roll for the ones after the miss. Phantom turns Medb(saber)'s NP from maybe 20-30% def down into a guarentee 50% Def down for 3 turns. Then phantom can dip while you focus on looping Medb(saber) and hitting the Def down cap since Phantom's debuff lasts for a really long time. I understand why all these servants are here. The game incetivises buffs over debuffs. Even if they function the same way the fact is when an enemy dies buffs carry on but debuffs die with the enemy. FGO need either a rework or a servant that makes debuffs usable. Either an Ignore Debuff Immunity ability or a way to move debuffs from one enemy to another as needed. Sorry for the wall. I like to use bad servants and will be the first to say that while bad no servant is unusable. (Except Geronimo, Please Fix him the only thing he has is party debuff resist up in a game where debuff cleanse is pretty common)
I use mephisto too. But I rarely found actual success in a comp with him. The main issue I had with him is that he is pretty useless after he inflicts buff block( which also misses against enemies with high debuff resistance). If he had a taunt skill, then he would have been a great unit. They buffed innocent monster to remove his defence down, which is actually bad imo. The defence down with a taunt on him would have helped in removing him off the field after he uses his buff block
Matahari is one of the most neglectence servant in fgo, she there in the very beginning but she doesnt get any passive and animation upgrade. Her buff is just recently released after so many years without buff. She actually beginner friendly with easy np5, charm and debuff. She is very powerful for early games until you get more powerful servant. Her skill could be more useful if getting a buff but alas, she seems like only get one buff for eternety.
Salem and Ooku, Ooku rerun, and no animation upgrade. Sad. Her charm on NP is universal, they could buff Pheromones to also be universal, and get 1 CD reduction (or increased charm chance).
She's very sweet and makes a great wingwoman. She actively tries to get Mordred to kiss you in her Rider Valentines scene. Also because her one wish for the grail is to be happy alongside the master. She's very cute. Also booba
DW is straight lazy tho , giys just took over 6 years to add life quality features to the game , i'm still salty that Charlotte got a variant when so many units got excluded from main story
My ideas for Geronimo buffs: Have his buster buff also give an additional attack buff to the whole party Have his arts buff give him an NP gain buff Have his quick buff give him a crit star bomb.
Good ideas! If they can't fully rework him, the one skill they really need to buff is the Quick one, being his dead skill (seriously, 2022 and we still have dead skills...). A star bomb sounds great, especially a huge one, but I would suggest 3 things to accompany it: AOE/targetable Quick buff OR party evasion for 1 turn OR 50% NP charge (although this one is ridiculous on a 5 turns skill, so maybe just 20% lol) What do you think?
As a angry mango fan i petsonally have mine level 100 10/10/10 np 5. But your right. The best i can do i slap a necromancy on it, hope to chaldea he revives over ten times and that the enemies hurt him on his np turn. Still hes my boi

I do disagree with a few points on Mata Hari. If you're using Mata Hari at all, you're using her to lay down her buffs and debuffs, and die within that turn. Yes, this means you're going to need elusive CEs like Poster Girl, Outrage, etc, but that is the best way she can be played. Another alternative is to Chen Gong her, or to pit her against a boss with strong AOE normals/crits. In my opinion, so long as you have the means to get her to die quickly, the whole "she's bad because she has 1-star stats" argument doesn't hold any weight. If anything, that might be of benefit to her. Her "no passives" problem is barely a problem. The only base-level passive she would meaningfully make use of would be Item Construction so she can dodge Magic Resistance passives on the cases where there _aren't_ debuff immune bosses. And that passive doesn't come naturally to assassins, nor does it fit her lore-wise. Her only real blemish is the abundance of debuff immune bosses, which, fair enough, that's a legit point against her. But in my eyes, that's not exactly enough of a reason to give her a spot on the Top 10 Worst Servants list. I can think of 2 other 1-3 star servants that are more deserving of this spot.
Ending up below Angra, canonically the most worthless weak servant is diabolical work, especially when they were trying to make him hard to use on purpose.
Honestly whenever I see someone with a level 120 Matta Hari, I'm always like "Respect." Because they took a low tier servant and dedicated themselves to making her as strong as she can be. They know what they're about and are unashamed of it
I find it funny that as an Assassin servant main, almost half of the list consist of Assassins. I guess what really dragged them down is their class names and the meaning. Assassins(not servant class) are specialized killers in general, they usually go after specific targets, hence niche. After playing FGO for awhile I noticed how specific some of the skills each Assassin servant have. It ranges from crit DPS, debuff, stalling, then to Anti-*insert specific trait here* dmg modifiers. I guess a better description of the Assassin class is that it's a swiss army knife, there is an Assassin servant for whatever niche no matter how specific, although alot of the tools can be a bit dysfunctional, but that didn't stop me beating bosses with some of my low rarity assassins. Conclusion, treat the Assassin Class as a utility belt, a slightly jank but fun utility belt. Inconsistent, but hey, it works XD

As others below have pointed out, Angra is intentionally designed to be awful as a servant. He exists because of the grail’s corruption, but isn’t a powerful entity whatsoever, the monkeys paw that messed up the Eisenberg line when they tried to gain an edge in the Holy Grail War. Hence, I think while his placement is justified, it should be understood he’s a deliberate choice, instead of just DW laziness
So absurdly hard to summon, and absurdly weak... But the funny part of that is that he assumes that. But well, with Asclepius/Irisviel to give him Guts and one such as Kiritusgu that put Target on an ally he may be quite useful!

Void Aversta requires Angra to survive and stay conscious through an attack. Gameplay wise, Guts will ruin his NP damage; even then, due to his low HP, even with the multiplier, several other Servants can outmuscle him.
The only saving grace is that his NP damage is truly unblockabke

Jekyll needs a soft rework, or at the least give Hyde an np of his own. He's already got decent attack and crit buff skills so maybe give Hyde an np that gives him a further buff to atk, crit weight, and generate a few stars for 3 turns.
For Hyde , single target buster np with an "go back to Jekill " effect to one of his skill , a character that can change his class is gold but DW doesn't care :(
Agreed. He wouldn't be hard to fix, he just needs some rethinking and a little minor tweaking. They've already implemented at least one character with two different NPs, and I don't know how the coding is written, but possibly more with Space Ishtar and others who can change NP card type.
Honestly just make it so that Hyde's Np heals him to full and give him like idk 3 turn 30% buster buff and he'll work
The biggest problem in my mind with Hyde is that the buffs given by the effect of Jekyll’s NP are removable.
To be fair to Mango, the game has him as a 0 star and he literally tells you he's the weakest. The fact that there are servants that are more useless is the real damning part for their game design.

What makes Angra even WORSE is that the interlude to buff his Quick Buff skill doesn't unlock until you get him to Bond 10.

Asterios is actually very nice, but he shines when the enemies have high hitcounts so he can spam his NP. He actually manages to help a lot against Goetia and Composite Deity Gorgon.
Was about to say that. His ideal usecase is a tad niche, but within his niche he’s by far the strongest unit you can get. His NP in multihit bossfights can just straight guarantee you take zero damage.

The main issue for Asterios is an issue shared with Mata Hari, he is so debuff dependent that most content just ignores him, and his niche is so extremely specific that many servants put into the exact same situation would kill whatever it was that was doing it before it can kill them rather than the other way around. Examples such as Gorgon , Goetia, and the Da Vinci fight in Reines case files being unique in this regard. (Also he has no way to remove debuffs from himself, but Command Codes deal with that just fine)
But I mean, nothing and I mean nothing beats that feeling of watching him take literal marshmallows to the face from a big scary boss because he just keeps throwing them in the corner to think about what they've done which dumpsters their damage output with his unique 5 turn debuffs just stacking and stacking. (And his own very nice 40% defense buff which nearly eliminates his class disadvantage while keeping the insane Berserker NP gain)
Can't wait for the update so that I can bring him from 100 to 120, but for now, need to continue on my way to bond 11.
For Angry Mango, let's also remember that if you want to get his S3 upgrade, you NEED to get him to Bond 10!

Thats the issue he needs to face tank as a berserker with 1 star stats. If the boss doesn't do all alllie multi hitting np then he has very little way to get his np back outside being force feed it. In the early hame that works but as the bosses get harder the less he can face tank. And to make matters worse his method of face tanking is debuffs in a world of debuff resistant bosses.

Problem is, he needs to face enemies with high hit counts so he could rapid fire his NP. Without them, he'll die really quick.
"There are no bad Servants..." Sadly, there are. Which is a shame because all of these Servants could be serviceable with proper buffs. Minus Angra since he's intentionally difficult to use. I considered raising Jekyll and Hyde because the class change gimmick is so cool -- no other Servant can do that! Being locked out of an NP was the deal breaker. I had a friend with a level 100 J&H; what a dedicated master.

The FoSS Hyde is able to fight against Brynhild, Arthur and Arash at the same time, and has a very big regeneration skill.

The crazy thing about Phantom, is that someone at Delight Works, and possibly Lasengle, likes him. He has shown up in a lot of events and stories, and always plays some kind of role that even if minor, fits him very well and gets him good screen time. You could argue they grab him anytime they need a crazed serial killer character. None of these came with a buff however.

Especially since we got Nobukatsu, I've been thinking that it might be interesting to turn one or both Gilles into a "Jeanne Support" since we have a fair number of them. But that would require tagging all of them with a new flag.
I pray to Alaya that these units get buffed over time because they're the ones that show up the most and it would help enable budget teams.
I mean, when Penthesilea got released every male Greek hero had to be tagged as "greek mythology male", and when Jason got released the Argonauts got their tag too. These are tags that work with only one servant each, so adding one more for Gilles and his interactions with Jeanne-faces would be acceptable
Or he could buff all Artoria faces too because he can't tell the difference between Jeanne and Artoria xD
Weirdly enough, Jeanne seems to be a Gilles support (Saber version at least), as chaining her NP after his results in the huge attack buff without the massive defense debuff. Still sucks tho, and you'll likely want the 3rd member to be someone with an offensive NP so that Gilles' Tactics skill isn't a complete waste.

For Jekyll, when he turns into Hyde he should have his buffs be permanent and unrecoverable. Then, he could either have Hyde have a turn limit until he turns back into Jekyll and loses the permanent buffs, or have some other way of turning back

I think Benkei was made to be a control servant to prevent the enemy from activating their skills and np. The problem is that DW gave him very long cooldowns that it makes him not being worth using. If the give him a skill cooldown reduction or a np charge it could help him a lot.
His NP isn't all that worth it, but cooldown reductions are definitely warranted here

His JP buff also made his NP somewhat workable, with a universal buff purge like Amakusa (No damage though).

Angry Mango isn't even featured in a CE because he is supposed to be a secret, sadly... Welp, this is how I make him work: I got him Maxed Grailed and Fou'd, I attached him the best of Command Codes (Holy Knight, Good Wife, Wedge...), and use the "Grudge Match" CE with him. He actually delivers pretty good damage, and with new Star Gen Command Codes down the road, he will hit harder. It's very fun to try to solo with him.

Before is buff, Phantom of The Opera had to use 3/4 of his kit to do one thing: Charm a Female.
He had to NP to lower debuff resistance, use his 3rd skill to boost his charm chance, and them use his second skill to charm a female, which it is the most convoluted way to try to stun servant with Goddess Core and Magic Resistance, or ya know... Use the Jumpsuit stun skill.
10: Honestly with her buff I’d say she’d be more fitting for a dishonorable mention. Just debuff the enemies with two separate defense downs and have her sacrificed with either The Gong or Poster Girl.
9: God his buff pisses me off. Stars aren’t buffed and the HP recovery down is so niche nigh useless. Also his Curse has gotta be buffed.
8: Proof that DW had no idea on what their game did during year 1. Honestly I hope they buff his Tactics to turn his NP into Buster and have the Tactics be 3 turns a la Hektor. But dammit I love using him.

1: Yep no need to apologize, us Phantom fans know how useless he is. Hell unlike Gilles he doesn’t even have an AoE mental debuff to excuse Mental Corruption.
Diarumid could easily overtake Mata Hari, but his NP is still pretty good. Also for Sanson making it humanoid would be good, but I think if they desperately want to keep his theming, they should make it deal 50% damage to king servants as well, or just go full Izo and make it 100%. Honestly that would make him viable
While Sanson is one buff away from being good, changing skill 3 to humanoid makes it way too broken as a servant, and a low star at that. If skill 3 is humanoid modifier, which is already high enough at 60%, combine it with evil trait, and that is 120% damage modifier against humanoid evil enemy. That alone almost outdamages every single assassin SSR in the game (Plus making Izou completely obsolete).
Healthier and better option would be to just add a 30% attack steroid on him for 3 turn on 3rd skill and that makes him viable.

Some servants really need an entire rework, instead of only receiving buffs. It's sad :/
And the buffs for some lower rarity units should happen more frequently. They wouldn't need to make them as strong as Arash/Chen Gong/Kojirou/supports like Hans, but at least make their gameplay useful in some way.
And yeah. I also think Geronimo deserves MUUUUCH better. He's so cool!

It's sad seeing the dumpster fire that is Phantom and DW being like "Alright, alright... He has buff removal now" thinking that solves it. It's Phantom of the fucking Opera. How is he this bad.
Edit: If there's ONE thing he does weirdly well, it's debuff support. As in, getting debuffs to land. His NP upgrade also buffs his OC effect to have a 50% debuff resist down for SIX FULL TURNS, making basically any RNG debuff SIGNIFICANTLY easier to land. However, the debuff resist down itself still has to land and that's not always possible with Magic Resistance or other debuff resist skills, and Phantom's NP gain is horrendous, making it hard to get access to it in the first place. Even without these problems he's just not worth it.

I used half of these guys for the first time ever during the Amazones event. I really need this event to end. Everytime I pull them out, I cry a little.
I feel this is is an event where it becomes significantly easier if you have at least one kaleidoscope. Finished the event a few days ago. You really need to use the rest areas effectively though.

The phantom was one of my first introductions to the game, and I was so happy to get him at the time purely because he’s one of my favorite characters of all time.
Then I see what they did to him and I just? Do not understand why they made him so bad.
I’m going to try and not go on too long but yes the phantom servant is awful both with his stats and deck and with how they portrayed him. He qualifies for assassin because he killed people-of course-but he used a punjab, and he was so skilled he could get his rope around his victim’s neck even if they were armed. Is this mentioned anywhere at all except the original story? No. But I like to think that maybe if his noble phantasm involved the Punjab then it would be a quick card- thus fitting with his deck.
I could go on, cause the (not fate!) character is one that I’ve loved for years and it hurts to see how he was handled.
Somehow wishing Asterios would get a buff for both defense and even an NP gain/battery . Was using him with Heracles until the 4th singularity then used him to nerf Goetia's NP.

Angry Mango is a horrible servant the only reason why i hate him. His only buff unlocks at *bond level 10* and on top of that he just can't do jack shit as his other avenger colleagues ALL out do him. Her job is to come in to the battle, debuff the hell out of the enemy and go away. Her 1* HP pool is actually a blessing in disguise since you want her out of the battlefield as soon as her skill and NP are out (Same deal that with Mozart).
She is an solid debuff support that can be bring to almost any team

that the lower echelon of Servants gameplay-wise is pretty well defined and player discussion is usually quibbles about no X is at least better than Y or, you were too easy on Z, and so on. the 13 picks given including honorable mentions are well reasoned. I would argue that Diarmiud deserves the dishonor of being numbered. middle of the list abouts #5-7, for having no optimal use cases. you have Cu. you have 2 Cus. And Taiga! well. story-locked. Like Geronimo only has one skill really yeah?, I'd almost argue F/Z's lancer has the same problem. Digression. Example of what I was talking about.
Hilarious that Phantom is absolutely definitively worse than "character that is supposed to be the worst" no one would argue against that! Heck, if I'm being generous to Angra, bump him down to #4, he's awful for lore reasons, poor poor Jekkyl has a game plan that doesn't function at all. and caster Gilles? well it's a fight between skills that do nothing and an aoe NP and skills that do something and a gimmick that hardly comes up. Phantom fan here. Mostly of the musical. I was hype when I heard he was in the game but man. They did him sooooo dirty. I raised him and everything but later learned he was pretty much the worst servant in the game. Super disappointing.
I grailed my Angra and use him for basically every important boss. Double Skadi, Summer BB, and a lucky 1st set of cards to lock make him horrifyingly strong compared to his baseline.
Jekyll and Hyde was a husbando for me so I put a lot of work into them in my early days and utilized them as a boss killer. Spend waves 1 and 2 as an assassin and do a buster brave chain with np. I stopped using him when I got more servants but he still on my husbando list
Diarmuid, Asterios, Bloodaxe arent bad. Diarmuid is not terrible, he just doesnt stand out. Asterios has an OP debuff, Bloodaxe can spam
diarmud is a special kind of bad, while he in a vaccum is someone reasonable in reality his competition is so stiff he is worthless. Matahari can be an ok support for a new player. Diarmud is just always trash.

Why isn't New Mash here! They took the party's protector and made here attacker with no class advantages and low damage, remove here team skills for self buffs that are pointless for a attacker and will very likely remove her defenses NP for a Attack NP for some stupid story reason.
because two turns of taunt is really good. I agree she doesn't live up to regular mash at all, but vr mash is still very usable
@@klidge the problem I have with that is that the big bosses are muti-targeter or have muti-target NP, so she most of the time either useless because she only protects herself or death folder to switch her in to protect someone else from a NP and take one turn of hits for some else if not a muti-target boss.

Make all of Geronimo's skills party wide and have their current effects last 3 turns, then add these:
S1: NP damage Up 1 time (3 turns)
S2: NP Gain Up 30% 3 turns
S3: Star Gen Up 30% 3 turns.
G-man can't loop so that's why the NP damage up is only 1 time, but it makes him better for supporting non-loop 3 turn set ups.
The NP gain up is to help make him a budget support for Servants who can loop or ones with sub-par NP gain.
The Star Gen is there because I'm not too sure what else would work, maybe Crit damage? Heal amp? DEF Down? 20% Charge?

Jekyll would be a really decent servent IF his reinforced skills would work like Nero Caster's NP Gain skill. This would mean that you can use them as an Assassin, and as soon as he transforms he gets the improved buffs. This would allow him to generate and absorb stars as an Assassin, and with a Buster Brave Chain, he could benefit of his improved skill.
It's such a shame his Skillset only doesnt work because of the stronger buffs getting dismissed when he casts them as an Assassin instead of only getting disabled until he turns into a Berserker..
My idea for Geronimo is to give him wild cards in his deck (ABQWW Np W). The second idea is to make all his skills have a secondary effect and be targetible. Now he's good

I'll go over some uses I've found,
10) Mata Hari is the best F2P generic damage buffer, 60% total at x/10/10 w/ her NP
9) Mephistopheles is the best Buff Blocker, and with his Innocent Monster Skill he drops his defense so with a Taunt (either another Servant's skill or a CE) he can use his buff block and then be rotated out
8) I've yet to find anything for Gilles (Saber)
7) I've yet to find anything for Geronimo
6) Benkei's upgraded NP removes all enemy Buffs so with his taunt you can rotate him in and remove all the buffs and then die
5) Sanson is one of the only F2P Debuff removers but honestly Medea is better for that and his 3rd skill is basically useless, and since his attack is pitiful (below even Hans) using him as a DPS isn't recommended
4) Caster Gilles, (on JP) he's got a 20% AoE NP DMG Debuff for the enemy which also decreases Buster and Arts Damage by 20%, his NP also reduces enemy attack by 20%, so he can be decent on a Tamamo/Mash stall team if you've got no one else
3) I've yet to find anything for Jekyll/Hyde
2) Angra can work well on a Gong/Ascelpius team but it's not really reliable

1) Phantom got buff removal on a skill and innocent monster which drops his defense, so he can rotate in remove buffs then die taunt
Samson would be good if his 3rd skill gave him more than one buff for example np buff or even card type buff for his np

Mata Hari gives the most defense down out of nearly all servants. I have unironically used her in some Raid fights.
My Mephistopheles was used against Goetia to meme his scripted turn 1.
Benkei has a theoretic niche with his Bond CE, on getting hit NP gen. Synergizes with berserkers and avengers who have high np gain on getting hit as base. He need more upgrades to make this work though. (My first Bond 10. No Ragrets)
Hyde is potentially busted, just up his numbers and make the hyde buffs unremovable. (i just want him to be good please DW)
Now for the big one
Phantom has a niche and a very POWERFUL one at that, however he suffers from the same problem MH has. He can do nothing if the enemy has unremovable Debuff immunity. Not because of the charm, oh no no no my friend. Phantom lives or dies by the debuffs of his team. Phantom is the only servant in the game that can give 50-100% aoe debuff resistance down for 6 turns.
Let me say that again.
PHANTOM REDUCES EVERYONES DEBUFF RESISTANCE FOR 6 TURNS.
Anyone who has a chance to miss their big debuffs wants phantom on their team. The best team mates are Waver with his 50% stun chance on his NP(look up phantom + double waver its nuts) and Medb(saber) who's Nice Shot! debuffs on her np have base 60% and NEED to chain otherwise it wont even roll for the ones after the miss. Phantom turns Medb(saber)'s NP from maybe 20-30% def down into a guarentee 50% Def down for 3 turns. Then phantom can dip while you focus on looping Medb(saber) and hitting the Def down cap since Phantom's debuff lasts for a really long time.
I understand why all these servants are here. The game incetivises buffs over debuffs. Even if they function the same way the fact is when an enemy dies buffs carry on but debuffs die with the enemy. FGO need either a rework or a servant that makes debuffs usable. Either an Ignore Debuff Immunity ability or a way to move debuffs from one enemy to another as needed.
Sorry for the wall. I like to use bad servants and will be the first to say that while bad no servant is unusable. (Except Geronimo, Please Fix him the only thing he has is party debuff resist up in a game where debuff cleanse is pretty common)
I use mephisto too. But I rarely found actual success in a comp with him. The main issue I had with him is that he is pretty useless after he inflicts buff block( which also misses against enemies with high debuff resistance). If he had a taunt skill, then he would have been a great unit. They buffed innocent monster to remove his defence down, which is actually bad imo. The defence down with a taunt on him would have helped in removing him off the field after he uses his buff block
Matahari is one of the most neglectence servant in fgo, she there in the very beginning but she doesnt get any passive and animation upgrade. Her buff is just recently released after so many years without buff.
She actually beginner friendly with easy np5, charm and debuff. She is very powerful for early games until you get more powerful servant. Her skill could be more useful if getting a buff but alas, she seems like only get one buff for eternety.
Salem and Ooku, Ooku rerun, and no animation upgrade. Sad.
Her charm on NP is universal, they could buff Pheromones to also be universal, and get 1 CD reduction (or increased charm chance).
I would very much like an avenger Hyde in the future, at least give him an np or be able to activate dangerous game

My ideas for Geronimo buffs:
Have his buster buff also give an additional attack buff to the whole party
Have his arts buff give him an NP gain buff
Have his quick buff give him a crit star bomb.
Good ideas! If they can't fully rework him, the one skill they really need to buff is the Quick one, being his dead skill (seriously, 2022 and we still have dead skills...). A star bomb sounds great, especially a huge one, but I would suggest 3 things to accompany it: AOE/targetable Quick buff OR party evasion for 1 turn OR 50% NP charge (although this one is ridiculous on a 5 turns skill, so maybe just 20% lol)

I do disagree with a few points on Mata Hari.
If you're using Mata Hari at all, you're using her to lay down her buffs and debuffs, and die within that turn. Yes, this means you're going to need elusive CEs like Poster Girl, Outrage, etc, but that is the best way she can be played. Another alternative is to Chen Gong her, or to pit her against a boss with strong AOE normals/crits. In my opinion, so long as you have the means to get her to die quickly, the whole "she's bad because she has 1-star stats" argument doesn't hold any weight. If anything, that might be of benefit to her.
Her "no passives" problem is barely a problem. The only base-level passive she would meaningfully make use of would be Item Construction so she can dodge Magic Resistance passives on the cases where there _aren't_ debuff immune bosses. And that passive doesn't come naturally to assassins, nor does it fit her lore-wise.
Her only real blemish is the abundance of debuff immune bosses, which, fair enough, that's a legit point against her. But in my eyes, that's not exactly enough of a reason to give her a spot on the Top 10 Worst Servants list. I can think of 2 other 1-3 star servants that are more deserving of this spot.
Well, at the very least Angra Mainyu is canonically in lore the weakest Servant, so that's uh... something I guess?

Ending up below Angra, canonically the most worthless weak servant is diabolical work, especially when they were trying to make him hard to use on purpose.
Honestly whenever I see someone with a level 120 Matta Hari, I'm always like "Respect." Because they took a low tier servant and dedicated themselves to making her as strong as she can be. They know what they're about and are unashamed of it
I find it funny that as an Assassin servant main, almost half of the list consist of Assassins. I guess what really dragged them down is their class names and the meaning.
Assassins(not servant class) are specialized killers in general, they usually go after specific targets, hence niche. After playing FGO for awhile I noticed how specific some of the skills each Assassin servant have. It ranges from crit DPS, debuff, stalling, then to Anti-*insert specific trait here* dmg modifiers. I guess a better description of the Assassin class is that it's a swiss army knife, there is an Assassin servant for whatever niche no matter how specific, although alot of the tools can be a bit dysfunctional, but that didn't stop me beating bosses with some of my low rarity assassins.
Conclusion, treat the Assassin Class as a utility belt, a slightly jank but fun utility belt. Inconsistent, but hey, it works XD
