Performance is still fantastic, battery protection circuit is aggressive so deterioration over the years is really minimum, provided you know about and use some battery care sensibilities. After 4.5 years my G8 battery capacity is still at 92%!!! If it were a Samsung or Apple it would probably be bellow 40%. Man, I miss them. I also noticed if I use my 60 ohm Koss kcf75 headphones with the adapter, then switch it out for another 32 ohm headphone it will stay on high impedance just as-long as you don’t unplug the adapter or turn your phone off.
It also worked when I connected my one more neckband, which is usually a Bluetooth device. But it has audio out with 3.5 jack. I'm not 100% sure what's happening though, is it acting passively?
Thanks for the tip. BTW, just another fyi - you get the same result (high quality audio) if you use USB-C to 3.5mm adapter with your earphones. I used the adapter that came with my Essential PH-1 phone which has DAC and used Samsung AKG tuned earphones same as in video for my test.
works perfect on my v30. I was able to somehow get it to detect as high impedance one time and i havent been able to duplicate it . for now external works perfect
Thanks. I figured it wouldn't work. That's been one gripe I've had with Samsung devices the last few years. I've tried a number of EQ apps with my S22 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra, Z Fold 3 and none of them happen to make much difference. If anything with their functionality, they just distort the quality of sound even more. Sucks. Hands down, the LG V60 is BEST I've heard out of every device I have in my car auxiliary port. Wow!! Unbelievably loud and very balanced. It makes me want to just say screw it, I'm all LG V60; despite how much I also enjoy using the S22 Ultra and Oneplus 9 Pro (which doesn't sound too shabby itself in the radio auxiliary port).
I have just an LG G7+ and bought an adapter which is 3 m long. It didn't make any difference in my opinion. It didn't get louder or anything switching it on and off. Only the volume indicator that seems to change. With quad DAC on, the volume adds by 5. 25 is loud enough for me. I have ATH mx50bt. Now I'm thinking of getting an 80 ohms Beyerdynamic to see if it would get louder switching the quad DAC on and off.
Plug in a DUNU 3.5mm to 3.5mm impedance adapter (75ohm) into a 3.5mm AUX extension adapter, then plug it into your headphone jack. Then remove only the DUNU impedance adapter and plug in headphones to the extension adapter. You can change the headphones but leave the extension adapter and it'll stay in high impedance mode. This is better sound quality than running in AUX mode.
I think the adapter jack has got resistors inside to cheat the phone. I have got regular adapter. I will cut it in half and add 300Ω or 600Ω resistors for per channel.ın your opinion, will it work?
I haven't yet figured out how to connect the headphones to the USB port dongle as I can with my xiaomi mi 9. These earphone ports only last so long. It would be nice to have a backup, plan B.
It says connected to external audio device! Does that mean you are in high impedance mode? I wanna see what happens when you actually connect headphones over 50ohm impedance.

What is like to know is if there's a way to enable hifi in the g8 when connected via Bluetooth? Or am i asking the impossible here, if so please explain why
I had purchased 3 of these lg g8 phones that’s came in a lot, and the one I was using I could never get it to go into high mode, only aux. Even if I used regular headphones straight into the phone, it never went to normal mode, only aux. So finally I used one of the other phones and it goes into high mode with no effort. Idk.. I’m guessing some LG G8’s can go into high mode and some cant?
I'm super late catching tie video here. This may sound like a redundant question, but would this possibly work for the latest Galaxy See Ultra and Oneplus 10 pro devices?
Nice tricky review by ya..I ave 2 lgs, niether are the v or g series, butt..I found out all phones ave dac players..Bought both my lg phones dacs out for my tws iems..Then i figured i could play the dac thru wired, i gotta ton of wired iems also..by hooking up the tws. aac/ aptx/ altx hd/ even ldac...To not run my iems on default settings , I hook up the tws, with aptx , bring up the dac player, plug in my 3.5 iems, and it plays, bits / samples, codecs, thru a wkred iem...i compared default to the dac settings with my wired, even though its analog, the sound i get thru the dac settings, seems to sound better ...default mode eaz what it eaz..Anyway..Thanx for the video..lgs rule..hope they cone back and make phones again..peace
Not recommended as high impedance mode only boosts voltage output while current is same as low so in a low impedance application, it will distort the audio because of lack of current needed to support that volume! There is a reason it matches voltage based on impedance
My quad dac used to work really good and music from my phone (V40) on an aux cord to my car's system was amazing. One day, it froze my phone up and now the hi fi quad dac won't work. When I enable the quad dac it will freeze up the song. It is very slow to respond when I press anything, but once it finally disables it, everything goes back to normal. Any ideas what has happened?
Just recieved my G8 wanted a backup compact music player because of the 32bit quad dac. It was refurbished since its not to be found anymore new, from a good rated Alixpress store, after checking the device, everything worked fine and the audio sounded good at first, until I installed a sample rate checker app, and even the hifi dac option enabled it stated 16 bit pcm at 48khz when enabling UHD sound option on samsung it shows 24bit and 192khz options listed. I have feeling those Chinese sellers removed and swapped the Quad Dac for a cheaper alternative... Really really disappointed since i only bought the phone for the dac
They only play 16 bit 48 through the 3.5 outlet. All of them . Great for spotify I guess. To get higher bit rate etc you need to use UBC out.....but ..then the dac is bypassed so ...?? My old ears are fine with cd quality anyway ll.
I'm looking to buy a V60 but I'm running Final E5000s which have low impedance but equally low sensitivity. Will the phone run the E5000 off the bat or will I need to use the dongle trick in the video?

Hi, I recently got an LG G8 ThinQ and need some advice for how to connect it to my car audio with an auxilliary cable. When I try connecting with this aux cable in my car, the sound quality is crap and the sound seems to only come through speakers on one side of my car. How do I fix this? Does this work for v60? I've noticed on v20 it's louder at random times. Wired never gets as loud as BT with both phones. I have vmoda Crossfade that work both way.
It works on my v60, but it's helpful to pay $1 for that app this guy has which lets you know if it's working. You can turn the quad dock on with any headphones in them, but they don't necessarily go into high impedance mode
If you think external mode is loud, try high impedance mode. I trick mine into high impedance mode all the time. Press and hold the volume button whenever you plug in your headphones into the adapter and let it go as soon as you plug it in. It may take a few tries.
If you have headphones like the Final Audio E5000 that have low impedence but also VERY low dB sensitivity, you have to use this option to trick the phone. Otherwise, full-blast audio is just moderate-low volume.

After 4.5 years my G8 battery capacity is still at 92%!!! If it were a Samsung or Apple it would probably be bellow 40%. Man, I miss them. I very likely spammed here years ago, still chasing for a way to tap into the 3rd power mode, like moth flying into flame, I just can't help myself until something kraps out I guess....so far it's as elusive as a Saskwatchewan, AND I live in Canada!!
Dang, this is an old video! I'm glad you found it lol.
@@SICERIKTECH haha, yes it is! Tho the LG never seems to get old! 🍻
I also noticed if I use my 60 ohm Koss kcf75 headphones with the adapter, then switch it out for another 32 ohm headphone it will stay on high impedance just as-long as you don’t unplug the adapter or turn your phone off.
The same effect can be obtained by connecting the headphone cord and then headphones if you have a removable cord for them
It also worked when I connected my one more neckband, which is usually a Bluetooth device.
Thanks for these tips! I have some headphones that are hard to drive but only trigger high impedence about 5 percent of the time.
works perfect on my v30. I was able to somehow get it to detect as high impedance one time and i havent been able to duplicate it . for now external works perfect
Oh gawd... Really? It only worked once and never again?
@@lightweed is the sound different from external dac VS high impedance?
LG V30 vs V40 audio, which sounds better ? How the tuned differs from one another?
I have just an LG G7+ and bought an adapter which is 3 m long. It didn't make any difference in my opinion. It didn't get louder or anything switching it on and off. Only the volume indicator that seems to change. With quad DAC on, the volume adds by 5. 25 is loud enough for me. I have ATH mx50bt. Now I'm thinking of getting an 80 ohms Beyerdynamic to see if it would get louder switching the quad DAC on and off.
See Tunç Tiryaki's note below. This works even without the dongle in the video. Just plug in any cable before attaching the cans.
Hi! Do you have a link to this dunu adapter?
Definitely works on G8!
This also works if I have the Bluetooth neckband that comes with audio output via 3.5 or USB C.
Hello, can you tell me if the lg ( LG V40, LG V30, LG G7, and the LG G8) have the same dac chip and which lg sounds best to you.
Will there be a noticeable difference in the sound of the LG G8s that does not have quad dac, but incorporates the dac meridian?
If it is Meridien=quad dac. Will work. I know some V50S got no quad dac while others got "Meridien" tuned quad dac.
So a 32 ohm headphone wont see the benefits of the quad dac if i use them normally without this trick?
It might active if you plug them directly into the device, without adapter.
Can u post the link to the same akg headphones
I think the adapter jack has got resistors inside to cheat the phone. I have got regular adapter. I will cut it in half and add 300Ω or 600Ω resistors for per channel.ın your opinion, will it work?
Work like a charm thinks you solved my dilemma on my Beats ep
I haven't yet figured out how to connect the headphones to the USB port dongle as I can with my xiaomi mi 9. These earphone ports only last so long. It would be nice to have a backup, plan B.
It says connected to external audio device! Does that mean you are in high impedance mode? I wanna see what happens when you actually connect headphones over 50ohm impedance.
it is in between , so the amplification will be more than normal but less than the high imp mode
@@viswanathankalyanasundaram9315 - Yup I've brought this extension and trick works but the difference in output is minimal. I'm curious to try full potential high impedance mode!
So is this video just showing how to enable quad dac even tho those little earbuds wouldn't normally support it if directly plugged in w/out the extension?
What is like to know is if there's a way to enable hifi in the g8 when connected via Bluetooth? Or am i asking the impossible here, if so please explain why
The earbuds shown in video wont enable External Audio, any earphones enable the DAC. No, can't enable the Quad DAC using Bluetooth
Probably not, they don't have headphone jacks or a quad dac
Only thing I can say is maybe do a factory reset and see if it continues. If it does, then maybe headphone jack or DAC is finally gone lol.
Wow I'm so glad I found this.
а если подключить к активным колонкам будет ЦАП работать?
Try uninstalling that app
They only play 16 bit 48 through the 3.5 outlet. All of them . Great for spotify I guess. To get higher bit rate etc you need to use UBC out.....but ..then the dac is bypassed so ...?? My old ears are fine with cd quality anyway ll.
what is your launcher?
I'm looking to buy a V60 but I'm running Final E5000s which have low impedance but equally low sensitivity.
Will the phone run the E5000 off the bat or will I need to use the dongle trick in the video?
The v60 should run them without dongle.
i just got an LG G8S wand the audio level into my Krell Integrated Amp was very very low will this trick work with it ? In my car it plays in the same output levels as my other phone, however Equalizer and the DTS:X 3D does not work. Wondering why?
Just get Soundmagic earphones..E50 or E80 (impedance 50-60 ohm). Low price, unreal sound, durable! Been using them on the G6 and now on the V50!!! 😎
I have lg g6, but cannot find if my phone is DAC capable as no hifi logo on the back.
@@flokyshah5877 It is, I had the G6 before
did u try blon bl 03 it is good or sound magic is good
That extension adapter did anything.
It did not activated the high impedance mode, wich would elevate the loudness.
You don't even showed the Audio DAC UI panel.
Very nice tip.
My v30 was loud but after the Orio update has lower my sound quality. I must play it at 75 before i could most of the time playing at 60 - 65 but know i must keep it at 75 but still not loud

I was confused as to why this works but I found that if my headphones don't have an inline mic it goes into high impedance mode automatically but thanks for the share
FYI, this trick works on ALL V-Series phones. Use to do this on my V10.
Great video :) and i own many high end earbuds and headphone i will tell at any price point the sound magic i80s sound the best to be and around the 80$ price point on the lg v series phones and have 67 ohm impedance i have sennhieser ie80 ie800 lz a4 lz a6 and a few others but the sound magic i80s blow them all away on lg phones with its quad dac and amp give them a try you will be blown away like i was they may not be the coolest looking and dont have detachable cables but the sound is amazing to me i do understand sound is subjective but at least give them a try
Does this work with the lg v60?
Yes, as long as it's got the Quad Dac
I'm a newbie to all this technology, literally over my head. But I was due for an upgrade, and I already had an LG phone and loved it. Now I have the LG40 thinQ. WOW, slot of bells and whistles I'm not accustomed to.
I had a cheap pair of headphones that worked fine on my last LG. So I found a brand new set of FIFO handsfree, I dunno if the phone part works on them or not?? But I've tried to pair them with my new phone with no luck?? Does the LG40thinQ take a particular set?? If not, any ideas why they won't pair??
Thank you in advance if you can offer any advice.
If they are wireless you won’t be utilizing the quad dac. It has to be hardwired headphones with the cable to activate it.
Hi, I recently got an LG G8 ThinQ and need some advice for how to connect it to my car audio with an auxilliary cable. When I try connecting with this aux cable in my car, the sound quality is crap and the sound seems to only come through speakers on one side of my car. How do I fix this?
I have confirmed it is not an issue with my car's stereo settings or of not having the plug all the way inserted into the jack on my phone.
Any advice is appreciated, thank you.
Are you using this adapter or just the auxiliary cable? You want to make sure the auxiliary cable is not the problem.
@@SICERIKTECH I am not using that adapter and the aux cable worked perfectly not long ago with my previous phone, HTC 10.

This all phone have quad dac any other phone available
Will it work on g8x thinq
Is Aux Mode the same at High Impedance in terms of DACs used and gain?
No, it's Normal, External, then High Impedance. External is aux I guess.
If you think external mode is loud, try high impedance mode. I trick mine into high impedance mode all the time. Press and hold the volume button whenever you plug in your headphones into the adapter and let it go as soon as you plug it in. It may take a few tries.
@@thatunknownguy2680 cheers mate. When you say hold volume, do you mean on the phone itself or the inline controls on the headphones?
@@naschylobo same question,did u figure it out?
Better audio ≠ increased volume
If you have headphones like the Final Audio E5000 that have low impedence but also VERY low dB sensitivity, you have to use this option to trick the phone. Otherwise, full-blast audio is just moderate-low volume.
From wich site ? I can buy it ?
Thanks.
should be an otpion in menu for low and high impedance
I don't understand why a 2 inch male/female extension exists.

Whether you're using IEMs, on-ear or over-the-ear cans, a quality set of headphones will benefit from the quad DAC. I've got a set of RHA IEMs and a set of V-moda Crossfade LP over-the-ear and both sets benefit both from the DAC and the amp set to high impedance mode.
