Tricking LG Phones Quad Dac To Get Louder Headphone Volume, No Root or Experience Necessary

- The quad DAC built inside the newest LG G series and V series of smartphones is a blessing for those who love good audio quality in there smartphone headphone jack, but sometimes it can also be a curse because the quad DAC controls how much volume - power to give your headphones and just enough that they won't distort sound and make your music sound better. But what if you feel or in this case, you hear like you need more volume? This video shows you how to get more volume from the quad DAC so you can get the loudness boosted just that much more.

How to trick the Quad DAC: LG V40, LG V30, LG G7, and the LG G8

I think if you plug just the extender in first, it registers "external audio", then you plug in the phones to the extender after that.
If you want the high impedance mode for earbuds or headphones, the best solution is to get high impedance head-phones or earbuds. I have a V10 and a V40 and they sound great with my old school Sony MD VR-6's and my Soundmagic E80 earbuds. For connecting to speakers, I use a Y splitter and plug my Soundmagic E80 Earbuds into one jack, and plug the other jack into my amp.
If you use the extender with normal headphones or earbuds, all you are doing is setting the phone to the AUX output mode.
Man these V series phones have such VARYING software.. someone in the comments here has one that they cant manually turn on the quad dac. On the one that i have, it CAN be switched on manually. Although when you plug in headphones that are high impedance, it does automatically come on. Im not sure what the threshold is, but i think its 50 ohms 🤔 i have some 38ohm cans where it doesnt automatically come on, but my 65ohm cans DO turn it on, so i figure the number resides somewhere between those two numbers.
Thanks for helping a few folks get that juicy audio 👌
I have a lg g8 phone that will
Not activate high impedance mode, even with my 250 ohm beyerdynamic headphones. Now here’s the kicker, ANY headphone automatically goes to Aux mode. But on my other LG G8 phone, it registers high impedance, normal and aux on its on… it’s very weird…
This is like a test to see what 3.5 mm headphone extendor you shouldn't use if you enjoy audio quailty. If a cable is adding resistance "tricking" it.. in the end you only get a few db increase and rest lost to the resistance.
Your extension evidentially doesn't have the resistance needed to trick the dac. Some cheaper ones may. Measure the resistance with a ohm meter and see what differences you get. Like you probably do I wanna root my phone so damn bad. Because 2.5 watts is as loud of a headphone amp that you have ever heard. Sadly LG went to conservative with their limits.. I'm. Pissed because I can't get any of my bluetooth devices loud enough..
How can I increase the volume on my headphones
so good man love it
Is that possible to increase the volume up to 75% when headphone is plugged in... Because you can see the volume is not max out... It's stuck at 75%
If possible please let me know how to do that
Thanks for watching. The volume on the phone doesn't change as far as the number goes but your changing or boosting the source of the sound with the amp-dac dongle. It's the same as using an amp-dac for speakers say connected to a laptop. The laptop will be at whatever it's max volume is but with the amp-dac you boosted the power the laptop can drive to your speakers sound. Hope that explains it to you.
Its on the v20 settings that low or high impedance mode
Not on the V35 or the V40.
The owners of the aforementioned phones need to download an app called HiFi Status (LG), which will inform the user if an external source ie high impedance headphones have been connected.

I know there is an app that can tell you if you have high impedance headphones plugged in. Its in the play store . the TH-camr [sic]Erik Tv I think is his name has a video talking about it. Sounds like something you're talking about.
Hi-fi status
I have the v40 thinq and it's identical to yours in the audio section and I haven't noticed it say whether it's normal headphones or whatever either however my v20 would.
Thanks for watching. You have to download an app from the Google Play Store called "HiFi Status(LG)", here is a link to a video of the app.

Is there any way to sort of trick the phone system into making the hi-fi quad dac to turn on while listening/using bluetooth...?
Dude...bluetooth doesnt use DAC. It only applies to the headphone Jack.
Does not matter what it says. Quad dac or is on or off and it should turn automatically on with the extender. With the headphones less then 50 ohms does not turn on automatically on yours but it can be turned on manually. On my V20 I cannot turn it on manually and I am bound to buy headphones with impedence above 50ohms to use the quad dac. I use the extender too or a volume controller to start high impedence mode. BTW awful music. 😳
Hw does the mic work
My g7 isn't even loud at 45
You need to download an app first, "HiFi Status" that's the one you were talking about.
Thanks for the tip I actually found out about the HiFi Status app a week ago after I bought my LG V60. Thank you for watching.
Hey does the LG v20 support mqa and does the decoding and specially the rendering part of unfolding ?? I cant find this answer anywhere on google
Thanks for watching. Not sure as I don't have my LG V20 anymore. I do know that mqa is mostly for streaming music and if you use Tidal for music streaming when you click a song and play it under the play and pause button is the file quality click on that and you should see options for: normal, high, hd, and mqa if you can click mqa and when it plays it says master then your phone is capable of playing mqa. Hope that helps.
I have just got my lgv60 thinq dual screen, I am getting v moda m100 headphones soon. What do i need to do to get the most out of them!?!?!?
I have been on reddit and spent countless hours trying to research how to bring out the most in those headphones, i have a master subcription to tidal as well and idk what else i need to do....
Thanks for watching. Other than buying an external or portable amp-dac like the two I just posted a video review of just recently on my TH-cam channel, I would just wait until you get the V Moda headphones and then listen to them with the V60. I don't know what smartphone you have before the V60, but I have the Note 10 Plus and the V35, and I just got the V60 almost 2 weeks ago and the differences in the new quad dac on the V60 and the older V35 are night and day! I have the Fostex T20RPmk3 and every audio enthusiast knows how difficult the Fostex are to drive, way more difficult than the V Moda M100's. And with the V60 I can get louder volume and better sound quality than my V35, my Note 10 Plus with a dongle isn't even in the running. I think once you listen to your V Moda with the V60 you should be good to go, if not then you can get a portable amp-dac like the 2 I reviewed here on my channel or similar amp-dac.
@@theworkoutgeek thank you so much!
@@youknowwhyyourhere531 You're welcome
Those cans are only 32 ohm impedance. Curious if they trigger high impedance mode.
@@CaptainBuzzBee they do. But not getting bass with USB audio player pro n the v60. No where near the proclaimed bass
Wow way to do a video with no idea what you are doing
HiFi status app missing thing that he was looking for.
