  • Just picked up this International 244. Needs a little cosmetic work and some minor mechanic work but as is it runs and drives very well.

    Hey nice video! I have a quick question if you don't mind. I just bought an IH 254 2X4 and I'm in the process of getting familiar with it and doing some maintenance and upgrade work on it. I don't have a manual but I think I figured out everything I need to know without the need for one.
    However, one thing I cannot figure out is what the heck is the function/purpose of the dashboard gizmo labeled "heat" to the left of the ignition switch? I looked on the electrical diagram but there's nothing there... Do you know what it does ?

      I have the same thing on my dashboard as well. I have no idea what it would be used for. Only thing I could think of is if you had an aftermarket cab on it that would be a heater??

      Wow that was fast! Thanks for that. If I learn what it does, I'll give you a shout back...@@RuralMidwest

      @RuralMidwest It is a glow plug indicator and it's supposed to heat/light up when you activate the glow plugs. It doesn't on mine so it could be that it's defective (likely) or that my glow plugs don't work... I'll have to check. To find the part in question, google "GPI-MT1273". If it's broken, I won't fix it given the steep price...

    how are the hydraulics in yours holding up? Any issues with the 3-point hitch sagging under load?

    • @RuralMidwest
      @RuralMidwest  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hydraulics are good, the only issue I have had with the 3 point is the linkage rod on the raise and lower breaking I replaced that recently.

    I have one just like it . It quit pulling But not all the way . So I chandler the fluids in it and it’s doing the same thing. I put5 gallons of the fluid they called for it . Is that enough fluid in it? Thanks for the help if you can help me out

    • @RuralMidwest
      @RuralMidwest  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not changed the hydraulic fluid in mine yet since I bought it, only the Engine Oil. Did your hydraulics quit working altogether or just your ability to move forwards and backward?

    • @alvinshirey7219
      @alvinshirey7219 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RuralMidwest my hydraulics works great , just the moving ability

      @@alvinshirey7219 Interesting, I would call your local CaseIH Dealer and talk to somone in the shop for an idea as to what could be your issue. Parts for these tractors are near impossible to find sadly.

      Pardner, if'n yer engine runs good, and if'n yer gears are selectified proper-like, then it sounds to me like ye mayhaps need a clutch in it. 🤠

    Hello I have one of those for some reason my fluid leak out from a dry roasted hose. Fix hose now some reasons won't go in gear all way moves without going all way in

    • @RuralMidwest
      @RuralMidwest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it will go into gear but won't move check your hydraulic fluid level. If there is nothing on the dipstick you need to fill it up again so the transmission will work properly.

      I have a 254 that did the same thing. It was a broken tab inside the LMH Shift linkage.
