We've taken advice from the comment section and will be drinking water throughout the episode to cleanse our pallets in between products!! Thanks Steve Hall for the awesome mugs!!
Great idea. Although I did mention this in a DM ages ago! 😂😂
Nah, tea , always tea 👍🇮🇲🇬🇧🇺🇲
Space does infact have a scent, space smells of Bacon, you prolly don't believe me but google it, space smells like bacon xD
@@ian_i.o.m495 especially when tasting teas 😉
So are we in agreement that UK sweets are far tastier than those over the pond with far more natural flavouring and less artificial colouring ? And have far less cancer causing additives and stricter food controls due to less food lobbies in government? (Money talks) A bit like your eggs that need kept in the fridge or your hormone grown pork etc I worry for you guy's as a lot of people are not educated in it.
Wouldn't know a circus peanut if it hit me in the face lol. Not a thing in the UK.
The 'Alan!' Imitation was crisp 👌
Got me laughing and waiting for Steve! 😀
STEVE STEVE STEVE
You need to try:
Black Jacks
Blackcurrent Liquorice
Rhubarb and Custard
Dandelion and burdock pop too
Would like to see you lads have a Sherbet fountain each .... also by Barrets
Just an FYI for Taylor raspberry and milk is the original flavour of a chewy lollipop and the squashies
Barratt Shrimps and Bananas are retro foam sweets shaped like bananas and shrimps that are flavored with banana and raspberry. They are made with natural colors and flavors and have a melt-in-your-mouth consistency. Some say the banana sweets taste like a classic banana milkshake, while the shrimp sweets have a strawberry flavor.
Shrimps and bananas used to be bigger, and were usually found in the 'penny sweets' section at the newsagent, back in the day. Then, you graduated to 'A Quarter Of' sweets. Mmmm.... Cola or pineapple cubes, bonbons, American Hard Gums, spearmint chews (the neon pink ones), candy peanuts, to name a nostalgic few 😊
Sasparellas
Rhubarb custards, aniseed twists, Pirates tobacco
*'sweet peanuts'
_not_ "candy peanuts" 😠
This should be renamed "Americans should learn how to open UK" sweets 😋
Hahahah so very true!!
'fake banana' flavour is what bananas used to taste like before the main variety went extinct and we got what we have now
Going to google that, i knew about the blight or something on the other species !
@@stewartlindsay2275 this is what i got "the bananas you eat today are not your great-granny's bananas. (Say that six times fast.) If you bought bananas in the first half of the 20th Century, it's highly likely you were buying the fatter, more flavorful cousin of our modern banana, the Gros Michel-a cultivar that was top banana in its day and comprised the vast majority of banana exports.
Then along came Panama disease, a fungus that has been the bane of banana growers since the 1800s. It all but wiped the Gros Michel off the planet by the 1960s. As the fungus decimated crops, a less-popular, less-flavorful variety-the Cavendish-was discovered to be resistant to the pathogen. Crops were quickly replaced with this new fruit and we're still eating it today. Whew. Problem solved, right? Well, not so fast. But first, back to the candy.
When you break down the artificial banana flavor, it comes down to one compound: isoamyl acetate. According to a BBC story on this topic, if you were to sniff isoamyl acetate (like the cool kids did behind the bleachers) you would say "that's bananas!" But, you know, in the literal sense. Cavendish bananas have a more subtle and complex flavor than Gros Michels, so this one-shot flavoring can't really cover the nuances of the banana we all know. However, studies of the flavor compounds in Gros Michel bananas (which are still grown by banana-philes) show that the old-school bananas packed in much more of that isoamyl acetate flavor than their present-day counterparts. So it's not that the fake banana flavor doesn't taste like bananas, it's that bananas don't taste as flavorful as they used to."
It's still fake and tastes nothing like real fruit.
Nowadays they can replicate flavours precisely but the old fake banana flavour is just some mixed up chemicals until someone said 'thats about it'
The smell of rain is called petrichor. When it is dry the plants secrete oils into the soil and the rain releases those oils into the air.
Shrimps and bananas are elite
They weren't too bad, but have definitely had better sweets!
Someone send these boys a bag of moam pinballs.
Mark opens correctly. perforated edge on top of bag makes it easy to just tear corner.
You had me at "Alan!" Hats off gents :)
Absolutely love that video! hahaha
Food in the UK is so much better🤣 I love watching people realise how different and natural flavoured our food is compared most other countries🙏 it’s mad
Love shrimps and banana ❤
They have that slightly bitter artificial taste.
Adam Richman (the man vs food guy) tried the banana and shrimps recently on his UK food tour. He really liked them to. Very retro sweets alongside stuff like marti mushrooms and chocolate jazzies
Two OMD from Josh in a row!!! 🎉
We almost passed out!! hahaha
7 minutes into the video and sour cherry and apple are the only ones you get had to say it great videos you should all come to Cornwall check it out
Sorry should of waiting 20 seconds yo my bad
Haribo Balla Bites are amazing
They know they're into a winner with the squashies, feels like there's a new flavour in store every week now! 🤣
So, 10 minutes after watching this video, I had to rush to the local convenience/grocery store for some snacks for the England soccer game, and Sour Cherry & Apple squashies, and a new flavour of Orange and Cherry squashies were staring right at me......bought both. Oh My Days 😂
If you're English it's Football, not Soccer.
Kinda keeping it appropriate for our American friends ;)@@Beats-dw7yk
Ooh, orange and cherry 🤔 Please provide your rating in due course 😂👍🏽
Those bananas are absolutely what you call circus peanuts in the USA. The shrimp is the same stuff but with a raspberry flavour.
Definitely a familiar taste for sure!!
That's not 'Fake Banana Flavour' that's what Banana's used to taste like, it was a variety of Banana that was grown before it was wiped out and now we get the banana's we know now that could go the same way. It was based off of the Gros Michel/Big Mike banana, what we have now is the Cavendish.
It is fake -- it contains no banana you nut
Space does have a smell, according to astronauts it smells like 'a mix of gunpowder, seared steak, raspberries, and rum'.
Let's go Alaaaaaaaaan!
YEAH LETS GO ALAN
I'm still in shock josh said omd..... are you OK today 😂😂😂😂😂😂 good ratings once again boys keep up the good work👍🥰
Hello it’s wonderful to see our four friends. That’s what you have become to most of us.😅😅😅😅😅
You all have become our dear friends as well!!
We have an "uncut" version of the Balla Stix too that are strawberry flavoured that I buy often because they are one of my favourites. They are normally just called "Fruit Cables" because they look like coaxial cable lol, or sometimes "Fruit Pencils".
'shrimps and bananas' are my _all-time_ absolute favourite sweets.
(& the 'shrimps' always make me think of ballet shoes!!)
Raspberry and milk is just the original Swizzels Drumstick flavour. So anything that’s labelled Swizzels Drumstick, unless it states another flavour, it’s raspberry and milk flavoured.
Sour cherry and apple all day long for me.
We have so many great flavoured sweets over here now.
Yeah, they're my favourite too 🤤
omd..but hey..when you like em..you like em...good thing with uk and eu sweets are the use of natural flavours in them
that HAWK TAHHHHH, she could be a millionair if she didnt delete social media, she needs to make a official one.
Fair do’s, Josh and Zach there are a perfect visual representation of every summer of my entire life with my cousins. Them (Josh) all tanned to the point of David Dickinson; me (Zach) with skin the colour of a raw potato 😩😂
HAHAHA amazing!!!
You guys have been an advert for these. I love these, but don't go out of my way for them. I am now
The one of tbe right (has British background I think) is soooo cute
Hello guys how are you all today hope you enjoy our UK sweets 🍬🇬🇧
Are you Gentlemen related to the Whittackers by any chance?
Sorry only joking keep up the good fun reviews 😂
How did you know?! hahaha
Brilliant enjoyed a lot thank you have a blast of a weekend
Hope you do as well Robert thank you!!
I love the whamtastics 😂
We were blown away by the sour of them!
Probably my favourite sweet/toffee in the 70's was called an Egg & Milk chew. I used to buy them on the way to/from school, from Johnson's, at the bottom of Stonehills Lane in Runcorn, Cheshire.
Hilarious as always guys
Mark saying "Call an exorcist!" 🤣 Josh, I am pleasantly surprised!
The original Wham bar was made by McCowans, a local firm to me in Falkirk. The also made the best toffee bars.
Haribo are German & popular in UK
Nice wee tip of the hat to Warrant. 🤘
SWEET CHERRY PIE YEAH
Mark is the type of guy to open your christmas present on Christmas day 😂
No kidding! hahaha
Love you guys!....😄 But, what in god's name is a 'circus peanut'? Great to hear you're coming-over.
Hahaaha its a sweet over here in the US! We uploaded a photo to the Community Tab!
You guys should try some tunnocks teacakes and caramel wafers
We actually have some to try!!
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor bearing in mind, that, since the sugar tax in UK, our sweet snacks, chocolate, sweets, biscuits and cakes have never been the same since.. it's all shrunk in size and thus lost a lot of the original character of our much loved favourites. Something to consider.
Wooooo I’m ready
Loving bob ross t zach the squishie monster and thought josh was going for the hat-trick great video once again lads 😂😂😂
I love squashies
And all this time they didn't know Josh had some good taste yet they know him so well 😂😂😂
Surprised us for sure!!
Those haribo are the GOAT!!
I was kind of relieved that normal service was resumed towards the end, Josh had me worried
One more OMD and we would have considered him body snatched hahahaa
Enjoyed so so much thank you 😂 🇬🇧🇺🇲
For your tour of the UK next year forget London and have fish and chips by the coast and then tour various food factories of your favourite yummies.
Wow did Josh just give 2 OMD ratings or did I just have some kind of outa body experience 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤ loving your channel boys keep up the good work on our British sweeties 😊
The out of body experience is probably more likely to be honest!! hahaha
Now youve GOT to show us a circus peanut !
Check the community tab!! We uploaded a pic!!
OMD's!...that's the most OMD's ever! Though personally, drumstick flavour tops everything for me ❤
The apple and cherry squashies are the best in my opinion
With you there!!
Nooooooooooo!
Anyone here remember Flumps?? Showin me age there :>
We've actually tried those!!
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor You did?! First, where tf you get them?? lol Not seen them in a long fekkin time! Second, did i miss the vid?
Yup, I have recently become addicted to squashies, but my fave flavour is the minions blueberry and banana 😊
Those are good too!
I worked at swizzels and lived on my boat across the road. Hope you get to see the factory one day, Derbyshire is Beautifull. Thanks for making me laugh. 😁
WOAH that's super cool!
Mr Miserable strikes again with a surprising 2 OMD's
guys just keep a pair of scissors to cut the bags open
You need to try barnetts mega sours! Would be hilarious
The Haribo are German that's just the UK version of the packaging. In Europe they're branded as Pico-Balla.
I guess what we mean is that these sweets are common in the UK, not necessarily that the company originated there!
WOW Josh giving a OMD's
Shocking isn't it?! hahaha
All those saying haribo aren't British, forget they bought Dunhills of pontefract that make haribo and maom in the uk. The gummy bears were a dunhills product originally.
They bought them out and started making Haribo . Dunhills gummy bears were fantastic. Haribo gummy bears are plastic rot.
Hawk tued!
With Josh on Balla Bites, weird texture on 'em, I'd actually go to UK OK with them
Another entertaining vid chaps. Do you have children? If so, do they know their dads are eating children's sweeties?
Mark and Josh have kids, and yes no children's sweet is safe around us!! hahaha
You need another top category above OMD'S, may I suggest "shit the bed"
😂
I spent most of my life so far living a ten minute drive from the swizzels factory. In the north of England. I always hoped I'd work there. Sadly, never got to live out my Willy Wonka dream
Haribo are in every shop in the UK, but the haribo is not British. But I definitely enjoy them
I don't know anyone that says Oh My Days.
You should replace it with The Dogs Bollocks.
All squashies are kinda based on Drumstick lollies
Some photos please, of you four at school.
Think we can make that happen!!
oh my days
But have you had the Minions Banana and Blueberry squashies? Aptly coloured & flavoured like a minion.
I've not seen the strawberry and cream ones before/yet. 😢😢😢😢
We have! They were good as well, but definitely a few steps behind these!!
🎉🎉🎉
I can literally see the Barretts factory from my front doorstep
Now that's cool!
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor it smells amazing quite frequently!
What no blackjacks?!? 😮
Let’s gooooo
I came 3rd 😂 next time I will win 😛
If you come first it often means you've came to quickly
Thats what the husband said after the wifes boyfriend came second. Sloppy thirds. 😅
Squashies are more popular to you guys than they are in the uk
We petition that all unwanted Squashies can be sent this way! hahaha
Kenny Kyle Stan Cartman
You guys tried frutella sweets yet ?
Ooh yeah, gotta love a Fruitella!
We have received some just haven't tried them yet!!
Please guys tell us which american candy (sweets) are omd so we can try get them and try them thanks
Oh wow we're going to have to do some thinking on that one!!
I loved the foam sweets as a child. Far too sweet now
I'm guessing bloody disgusting for shrimps and banana 🍌
Yeah, I hate them myself hahaha! They’re a classic tho
Tip for you, open the bag at the bottom, it doesn’t rip 🥰
Bananas and shrimps used to be a big favourite of mine as a child many moons ago! Unfortunately they have zero taste to them nowadays! The banana used to smell and taste exactly like the !
They're still my favourite sweeties.
There's not much wastage with you guys is there 🙂
I hate squashies , and haribo sweets, love shimps and bananas.
Haribo are german
I guess what we mean is that these sweets are common in the UK, not necessarily that the company originated there!
