Roysters came along relatively recently, saying "T-Bone Steak Flavour" when we already had a bunch of companies selling beef crisps, and I was skeptical thinking "oh this is just beef with a fancier name" but I have to admit, I did taste more steak in them than regular beef crisps, and I love the texture too. In my top 5 crisps for sure.
I think Pork Scratchings are a bit like Marmite over here, you either love it or hate it, i'm firmly in the hate both camp !!! I think on your unboxing someone sent you some Smith's Bacon Fries, can't wait for the review of them they bring back memories
Might be worth bearing in mind that some UK snacks that say spicy aren’t necessarily referring to heat but as in they are flavoured with spices because they might actually predate when spicy became used predominantly to describe heat. The likes of Nik Naks Nice ‘n’ Spicy came out in 1981 and back then spicy wasn’t a presumption of heat (generally speaking in the UK), just an indication that spices were used. Oh and coated/flavoured peanuts are pretty common here with honey roasted, barbecue, Katsu curry, paprika, sour cream and chive and various types and strengths of chilli being amongst the most prevalent.

Roysters are only available in the one flavour, made by KP Snacks, who also make Nik-Naks, Mccoys, Tyrrells, Butterkist Popcorn, Space Raiders and Skips to name but a few. They're also the no 1 manufacturer of peanuts in UK
They used to do Southern Fried Chicken flavour and cheese and chive when they were first launched (late 80's/early 90's iirc). I seem to remember them being marketed as some sort of American themed snack experience hence them being labelled 'chips' instead of crisps.
Sitting in the pub with a pint and a packet of itchy pigs is very therapeutic. All these snacks were made for a pint. Also remember the chicken roysters and they were very nice.
@BLANKSnooneaskedfor excellent. On your community post under the spreadsheet info I have attached a video of the 630 mile south west coastal path. Look and marvel. Have a great weekend josh, Taylor, Mark, zack....I'm guessing zack tho
As said in chat, Burton's Fish and Chips or Chicken and Chips are amazing, full of flavour - like in your face full of flavour. Quite a nice baked snack. Golden Wonder for crisps is probably best to get, people tend to find them less greasy than Walkers/Lays and the flavours are nice too. I am not a big nuts fan so can't give recommendations for them, but Bombay Mix is a nice spicy nutty snack the taste of India that.
I tried pork scratchings once about forty years ago and couldn’t stand them. They weren’t as prevalent in the part of Scotland I grew up in as they are/weren’t England. So it was on a family trip to visit my Dad’s twin brother in Kent as a young kid that I asked if I could try them when we visited a beautiful country pub close to his house. In my mind I thought they’d be like Frazzles but seeing as how I’ve never really liked bacon, I should have known better…but I honestly didn’t think that they were real ‘meat’ so I was hugely disappointed 😊
Pork scratchings are normally sold in pubs as a snack you have with your pub drink.. you don't always see them many other places.. but popular in nearly all pubs in uk
IPA? Cheesus mate, don't kill them with flavour, they're still going through the snack! Besides, American IPA is over hopped. It needs a decent Phipps to get the real flavours 😊😊
Roysters are one of my favourites, nik naks are better in rib n saucy flavour but nice n spicy are ok too, and I love pork scratching. Great video as always. As a suggestion you could possibly try a scotch egg (if you haven’t already)? I don’t like them personally but they are very popular here in the uk.
One of my old workmates had a saying for mysterious bits of pork, the origins of which was questionable, especially in cheap sausages! Instead of using 'sausages', he called them 'arse & lips'! 🤣🤣🤣
Right, so the U.S doesn't have coated peanuts? OMG they are delicious BBQ are my favourite them sweet chilli, salt& vinegar are good... I really thought since the U.S are nuts about nuts they would have these.

This video made me laugh I think they should of all been OMD Purley because you guys practically finished every bag crumbs and all 😂 try the other Nik nak flavours you will be surprised I think
Try 'Mr Porky's' pork scratchings. They have a 'crispy strips' product that is more consistent without the chunks of fried fat, but I prefer their 'Original' or 'Hand Cooked' ones - with these you get a mixture of hard ones, soft ones, and hard-with-a-soft-bit ones. My friends and I had a pub game called 'Ear or Scrotum', guessing which scratching was from which part. Needless to say, it was never verifiable, so everyone had to drink!!
There are different makers of Pork scratchings ,,Black country ones are by far the best ..the Golden crunch things are just like eating cardboard.... Scampi and Lemon nik naks are OMD !
