    The Roborock S7 was just unveiled with a new technology called VibraRise. Vibra refers to the new vibrating feature that adds an agitation facet missing in older Roborock options. Rise refers to the lift feature that raises the pad when it detects carpet.
    Based on tests, the vibrating feature does help speed up the stain cleaning process - as it removed all the red wine stains by the second pass. However, I'd avoid using any of these robots for cleaning stuff with sugar, like grape juice or tomato juice stains, because it will leave a sticky residue.
    So the question you'll have to answer is, are you willing to spend a premium on these upgrades? Since these robots are almost equal when it comes to vacuuming debris.

    the S7 is going to be flagship soon enough. When they release that auto empty dock it will change the game. That dock can be bagged or bagless, and uses higher suction than all other types of docks with cyclone. Im calling it right now, it will raise the bar for auto empty vacuums.

    Hey man! Thanks for this very thorough review! Great work! A clarifying question, the VibraRise system only rises the mop when it detects carpets? One nice feature for me would be the ability to have the mop always installed, and when you e.g. select vacuum only that it would simply keep the mop lifted during the cleaning session. Then you could mop when you saw it was needed, and vacuum when it was needed, all while keeping the mop installed, only refilling the tank when need be. That would create a more seamless experience in my opinion, than having to reinstall it every time you want to use it

    One main question to check in the future, once the cross pattern will be extended to S5max:
    - Add the S7 new mop to a S5 Max
    - Test its result and compare it to a S7 mopping
    I'm pretty sure the result will be similar. And in that case there will be only one argument left to justify the S7 --> The dock.
    I hope you could make that test right now, even without the cross pattern ready so we could better understand what feature has a bigger impact on mopping: Vibration OR New Mop or Both ;)
    Cause if the difference is not that major, there's a point about the technological complexity and its capacity to lower the durability of the product.

    My biggest concern with the S7 is the technological complexity added to the design to both vibrate, pump water, and raise and lower the mop head frequently. There's just so many things that could go wrong and we don't know how durable this is going to be. For now, I prefer to have a great robot vacuum and a separate robot mop (should I decide I actually need one).

    I have the s5 max and have been very happy about it. It has started to sound a bit strange though. I'm kind of wondering if it's built to last the famous two years. I'm glad they still support it. I wrote them at some point and got an answer very fast, so they seem very legit and serious.
    The scrupping motion seems like a great idea, but it will probably make it brake sooner. The more moving parts, the great risk of it breaking down, is my experience, so I'll be waiting to see.

    Great review... i wish they shall introduce Y shape mopping with option to either use it or keep standard moping , it is very efficient way as 1st forward pass wets the stains and 2nd reverse pass cleans most of it, in comparison to the vibrator as well as standard passes by s5 max 1st pass wets the stains but as there is no immediate 2nd pass so once the robot comes back again for 2nd pass the stains are again dried so apparantely very less performance unfortunately :( i have also asked Roborock to provide Y pattern mopping in upcoming feature as old buyers of S5 max shall not be buying S7 only because of mopping upgrade which can easily be attained by introduing y shape mopping by Roborock; afterall its hard earned money and even s5max is not cheap to buy....

    • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      VERY good points👌🏻
      I own s5 Max and am quite happy although now that 3-4 months have passed I now see where it not as good. It is very bad at climbing higher than 2cm.
      It has a hard time on even medium thick carpets (we own no long haired carpets).
      It takes also very long time for it to get back on track if it looses its path(although I will upgrade router now and see if there is any difference).
      The mopping is really only for wetting without the y shape pattern... if you do it often it is ok .
      With all this knowledge I would only pick this if I don’t have carpets at all. We don’t have many but still, we did not buy a robot to do the vacuum ourselves...
      Also, sometimes it isn’t that smart... when cleaning our hall that is rectangular... instead of going straight along side with the length of the hallway... it wants to take like 50 turns in cleaning while traveling the “width of the rectangle shaped” hallway .
      So instead of around 5 turns it goes like 50 turns 🙄
      However, I’d still buy it if it was the only robot to choose from. It has helped a lot despite these cons.
      Today I’d buy something that can do it all... that don’t get stuck primarily

    • @CordlessVacuumGuide
      @CordlessVacuumGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I purchased the S7, within 3 days the plastic thingy that sits behind the brush came out of it's slot, can't get it back in, I've now had the S7 less than 3 weeks and it's telling me the sensors need cleaning. NOT only do I clean every part of the S7 after each use. This annoying message of the sensors need cleaning, cannot be gotten rid of. I have now cleaned them 5 times, I had my tenant clean them. Yet this message still persists. Not good when I paid over $1000 AUD for this thing. My $300 Eufy S11 picks up far more dog fur. The only reason I bought the S7 is because of the combined vacuuming and mopping. TBH it was a waste of money, I'm still waiting for a response from Roborock and have contacted the ACCC (Consumer Protection).

    • @CordlessVacuumGuide
      @CordlessVacuumGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's always a risk, not just with the S7 but also other robot vacuums. The brush roll wheels, and side brush generate friction and with it possible scratches. For the S7, I didn't notice anything obvious. There could be micro scratches but I think thatt's it. One way to minimize is keeping the wheels clean, especially the caater wheel since its solid plastic and debris will accumulate.

    DEEP CLEAN MODE:
    Perhaps something you would like to add to your commentary which can help many people decide;
    I have 75x75cm (30x30”) ceramic glazed tiles and when using the deep mop function, it keeps getting stuck (wheelspin) because the floor is just to slippery due to the wet floor ending up in lifting the pad and proceeding further on, over and over.
    So, nice feature but not for an inherent slippery floor surface. I can imagine for e.g. PVC or vinyl it will perform the same (but no proof!)

    Hi, i was so torn whether to upgrade my 5 month old S5 Max when S7 releaaed. I use the robot daily to vaccum and mop at the same time (Max mode). Does it effect the suction capability when both function is on? I noticed it doesn't vaccum as clean as most reviews i watched. The only complain i have is the mopping leave 2 lines hard water stain on my glossy times. And the bumper turn yellow with just 5 months use.

    • @CordlessVacuumGuide
      @CordlessVacuumGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mopping should't affect the vacuum performance. The two marks are issues I've heard from other consumers as well.

    You referenced an error code on the s7, I had an s6 max which ended up with a fatal error code (18) because the mopping introduced wet dirt for the actual vacuum. It lasted about a month before the internal fan was just completely jammed (yes I cleaned it regularly). I'm keen to see whether you saw similar behaviour in the s7 in lots of error codes, or maybe just running it in mop only would avoid this. What do you think?

    • @CordlessVacuumGuide
      @CordlessVacuumGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember correctly, I got the error 8 indicating wheels are stuck. Only issue I encountered is the robot stalling due to the sticky surface. These robots aren't built for heavy duty mopping or wet mopping, there's a big risk of liquid going into the motor.
