    Thanks for helping me choose my next robot vacuum. Ive owned an LG Hombot for 5 years, and it still works to this day (with some repairs). Since a week I've had the S5 Max and boy, this is from another world. It cleans fast, it's mops great(even my wife is impressed) and it's super smart. Couldn't be happier!

    Love your reviews and videos. Absolute top notch.
    There are a few elements I hope you may consider including in future reviews, that I imagine is important to myself and other viewers:
    - Multiple floor-support
    - Staircase/cliff detection
    - Door thresholds/thresholds in general
    - Some sort of obstacle testing, such as a towel thrown on the floor.
    In any case, keep up the good work and thanks for your awesome videos.

    After many videos from many people, I found Vacuum Wars the best staright up non bias and consitently very good with the same testing, easy to watch and understand.
    On thier recommendation I bought an S5 and have had no issues and the mopping has been great, tiled and vinyl floors so its been a great purchase.

      I just returned the S4 because of problems with thresholds, and it getting hung up on the "corners" of an area rug. With little tech skill, we were able to set up no go zones, and walls, and it broke my heart to return it. We do not need or want a mop function, but the S5 or S5max may be next for us if they climb better.......

      @Momentum Productions - You can hear the S6 Pure on my channel. There are three short videos from the first time I used it early January 2021. Please note that the ancient floor saddles in my 141-year-old home are above the one-inch threshold. However, the S7 which I also have now does get over them and sometimes the S6 does too. My "Robbies" ARE fabulous vacuum cleaners. Wish I had gotten one years ago!

    I first got the S4, but while it was great on hard floor it REALLY struggled on carpet, and doesn't have the same carpet mode feature that the S5 has. Roborock support themselves pointed me towards the S5, which has been working flawlessly on my carpet.
    If you have mostly carpet, get the S5, not the S4 (until they improve it to work on carpet).

    Nice video! Although some errors. The dustbin in the S5 max is 460ml not 640ml. The dustbin for S6 Pure is 480ml and the dustbin for S4 is 420ml. Also the suction power in S6 and S5 max is the same so the airflow should also be the same.

      Me too, until it runs or until roborock launches a much better robot, one that has AI, a self emptying dock or both. This are worthless upgrades that roborock made and now sharq, ecovacs, roomba (crazy expensive roomba) surpassed them. Roborock seems not beeing able to come up with anything new,... just the same sh*t over and over again, just different software and fooling customers that it's much better because it cleans 5 minutes faster, or it's water poors quicker (S5 max),... i wrote above what i did with my S5 mop,.. it kicks any other roborocks ass if one does that. (Ofcouse you can do that with the S5 max too and it would be much better).

    • @guillaumepare9651
      @guillaumepare9651 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CountPorcula Beg to differ. No major update yes but they definatly updated their robots to the point that they are still one of the best. The only thing missing to roborock is the self-empty capability. I have the shark and that (and maybe the price) is the only thing better. Neato seems to do great robots but not as reliables and customer service seems average at best.

    • @CountPorcula
      @CountPorcula 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@guillaumepare9651 you clearly havențt seen the Proscenic M7 Pro, that is what roborock should have done,.. Search for it on youtube. And by the way,.. The S5 still is one of the best robots out there,.. the S6 is just an overated S5 with VERY small and unnotaceble upgrades.

    • @guillaumepare9651
      @guillaumepare9651 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CountPorcula I'm not saying the s5max is the best of the best. I'm not saying it's perfect. I agree that it's not a major update over the S5. All I'm saying is the s5max is nevertheless among the best. On your post, you were comparing to the shark which I also own and the s5max is superior IMO. One thing I like about Vacuum Wars is that he goes way beyond specs.
      Also, I'm quite sure that Roborock is redesigning it's robots. The actual generation shares many of the same replacement parts. it has it's cons but, for the moment, I think it has more pros. The next generation will most probably have an empty bin base and they will most probably redesign the robot altogether. That mean another generation of parts.

    1 year and 2 months now with S5.
    Laser motor started breaking at about 8 months of usage. The breakdowns are becoming more often (like once every few weeks). The upside is that it only needs 9V external battery to be fed by and then its fixed. Tho, top cover always makes me wonder when will it break, because its quite hard to remove.

    I just replaced my Neato D4 with a S4. Only reason I did it was the D4 had a lidar/probally board failure, not any real complaints about the D4. I'm pretty surprised how much better the S4 is at navigation. I have a old Victorian house, so doors little rooms, just oddities that make navigation odd. Even with no go lines the Neato would always get stuck atleast once a vac. Which I put on my house not the bot. But that S4 is rock solid never gets stuck and mostly does as well at navigation as could be expected. Pretty impressive the differences Ive seen considering on paper they appear mostly the same level.

What is the CFM on your uprights? @Vacuum Wars, I would appreciate your advice on choosing between the S4, S5, and the S5 Max. First off I have a one time deal we’re I can get the S4 for $295, or the S5 for $375, but unfortunately the one I want most the S5Max will be $520. A huge price difference unless I can find a coupon for amazon.
    My downstairs is hardwood, but upstairs is carpet average length.
    Once again if money was no object I would chose the S5Max but coming from a defective E25 that has been a pain, I am trying to make the best choice so I don’t have to go through another month of hassle. Thanks in advance.

      How? Mine still reads “firmware up to date version 3.3.9”

    • @airpeguiV2
      @airpeguiV2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@XellosMetallium the latest firmware is 3.5.7. I am in Europe server though. You should get it soon, but if you cannot wait I recommend you use the app "Flolevac" to update it manually. It is very easy and it contains lots of extra features :)

      I am from the US, I got the S5 from aliexpress. So I guess that’s consider the “international version”. So is everyone from Europe has the latest firmware except the US?

    • @airpeguiV2
      @airpeguiV2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@XellosMetallium I am not sure how Xiaomi is doing it. It depends on what server you have it, not what version you bought (I think!). You can force the update in 5 mins using Flolevac, it's so easy and it's the official update! Also there are online groups about S5 owners who will tell you how to update easily if you don't want to use Flolevac :)

      Same here in UK. Room selection updated to 3.5.7 through FloleVac. Works like a charm

    If I already have a iRobot Braava 380t - will the mob feature of any of the Roborocks be an upgrade? or would I be best served just getting an S5 (cheapest here in DK - the S4 is not readily available) and using my Braava for mopping?

    Thanks for the video. Is it possible to schedule the charging, to take advantage of off-peak electricity tariffs?

    • @LeiChat
      @LeiChat 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess, scheduling the vacuum so that it finishes cleaning and returns to the dock in time to charge during off peak.

    • @FalconWindblader
      @FalconWindblader 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No one would've bothered tweaking hours on the dock. The easier way to do what you want now is to simply watch how long your bot's going to work in your place, then schedule the cleaning at around those off-peak hours.

    Would 200 sqm of hard floor (relatively clean since mopped daily) be too much for daily vacuuming+mopping? I'm interested how does the dust bin+water reservoir holds on for a floor this big and whether it can do it autonomously over the night or it needs emptying/refiling with water during a cleaning session. My choice would by the S5Max.
    Thanks for the reviews - they sure are really helpful in make choosing easier on us!!

    Any experience with the proscenic my pro? I don't know of any difference besides the larger battery capacity and a dual brush arm. The m7 seems to be more attractive because it have a much larger mopping tank.

      Yep, sure am. It’s randomly selected who gets the latest firmware. Unfortunately you haven’t been selected. There is a solution though, you can download Flolevac on android and update the firmware via that app instead.

    Hey vacuum wars, because of the height my closets i need a robot with a height of 3.3inches or less. Unfortunately all of the roborocks are too tall. Any suggestion for a semi smart robot vacuum that would fit my needs? Mopping function not required.

  • @pumpkineater23

    What do you think about the Xiaomi Mijia 1s? It is considerably less expensive than the Roborock models and, as far as I’m aware, more technically advanced? Also, it has been reported that the S4 struggles on thicker rugs compared with the other Roborock models. This would seem an important test as part of your reviews.
