Our house is very dull 60 ranch. Beige brick, white shutters with white wrought iron railing on a living room size to narrow 1/2 covered front porch. So after much pondering I am going bold contrast with a dark green. Sounds weird but looks good on the color wheel. Am I to far off base? This is our down sized house. Last home ever….when I say in the 80’s I’m not talking generations lol 😝

I painted my door yellow just a month ago, during the process I considered changing my mind because it just seemed so scary. Everyone in my family implored for me not to do it. I Went though about 5 samples not knowing which yellow. I ultimately decided on a flat "sunny Side up" by Behr Marquee! Now, everyone compliments it and knows my house by the one with the "beautiful yellow door". lol
Hope it brings a smile to your face every time you see it or whenever someone complements your choice cause it gives them a cheerful feeling. We all can appreciate an uplifting emotional que. Good for you!

Unlike others, who post random photos of houses with no specific information, you have gone to the enormous effort of including the paint color & manufacturer's name. The pacing of your presentation was also excellent, since it gave me enough time to both assess/admire the colors presented and to also grab a screenshot of those that I loved. This video is incredibly well done. You are informative and articulate, in addition to having a great design eye and educated advice to share. The production quality is broadcast worthy. I love all of the paint colors but I suppose it really does depend on the type of the house and where you are. Some of these colors look absolutely stunning in florida versus dc has a much more conservative look. Love love the content and I don’t even have a house 😂

Morning. Living in a HOA situation, I can't paint my home whatever color I want. I try to freshen the outside by planting colorful plants n changing the outside lights as well as pretty outdoor furniture. It kinda works! I'd have a blk n wht exterior if I could. Thanks Julie!

I still help my clients come up with some solutions using HOA approved color palettes, but sometimes in creative, new combinations. Sometimes that helps your home stand out without sticking out. Great ideas with the plants, they can’t do anything about that! Unless you go overboard of course 😅
I want to be an interior designer to relax. Of course I'd be a beginner but some of the houses gave me an idea. Like the black ink house with red trims and matching red furniture. That was a good idea, now I know that your furniture should match your house's exterior to bring out a good appearance.

I painted my cookie cutter house last year. I refused to use greens, taupes, browns, greys. Ugh….all the houses in my neighborhood look alike. Instead, I chose the color Seapearl (a creamy white) and limousine leather (soft black) for the trim. My entryway is a little dark. I wanted to brighten that area with a bright front door color….Key Lime which also has a creaminess to it. I absolutely love my color combination and I no longer look cookie cutter!😊

I love the bright colors of the front doors and would be open to most all of them with a fun punch of color in mind. My mother and I painted our house 18 years ago with a goldish yellow color which was very bright. This year I am looking for something more climate friendly but trying to keep a classic looking home, that would be sellable down the road. Some colors make your house look cheap which I do not want and trying to please everyone drives you crazy. I really wanted to use the same Glidden High Performance exterior paint since it held up so well and I do not want to have to repeat this job again, unfortunately the Glidden Paint Company has been sold and finding a really good lasting paint is not easy. You may want to focus on a good durable paint along with the beautiful colors.

House prices were crazy in southern Ontario also. Some $200k over asking price! Government had to step in and do something. Anyhoo, you can't go wrong with warm neutral colours... with a touch of bam!, like Benjamin Moore's Midnight Dream. Having said that, I've seen houses around here painted with colours similar to Sherwin-Williams' Commodore with white trim (10:06), and I have to say it looks MARVELOUS!
paint it. Lots of homes do not keep the brick color. I have seen, or if you look at her video again a lot of all brick fronts are painted. Just like interiors you want to treat each wall as a complete face. Like when they paint trim and baseboards the same as the wall. It is a cleaner and sleeker look.

Highlight the natural brick (warm neutrals/ grays) or help tone down the brick hue (greens). (And of course like Gayle said, you can always paint it neutral if you want to start with a fresh, blank slate)

Great video Julie! I love the statement color doors, when done right they made the house look more inviting. What does Feng Shui says about color doors? On the other hand I have seen houses where you can't find the door at first glance 🤨

OMG...go to 8:02...Julie, identical to my federal style house, painted a SW olive with deep SW blue-grey shutters.. I SWEAR same colors or effect at least, only... I chose that combination about 9-10 years ago!! Have to say the colors worked exceedingly well with our various trees... just gorgeous. Sold that house. (Miss my trees!!). But... Wondering what's next...because blue and grey are as overworked as 'Way Done' (if you get my drift., and no, never a fan)...so I'm liking bright sunny yellow this year.....oh, and pale coral too...Oh but I digress, apologies, this particular video is about exterior colors. To me, rule #1 is, remain in the wild backdrop. No billboards. No obnoxiousness. Invisible works when robbers can't see you as well....but the world is so artificial and crowded anymore.....so much better to let your home breathe nature as well. I'm not about color trends for my own choices 😁

Mine is yellow. It took two different tries, but I decided a mustard shade was best with the blue exterior.

I love the bright colors of the front doors and would be open to most all of them with a fun punch of color in mind. My mother and I painted our house 18 years ago with a goldish yellow color which was very bright. This year I am looking for something more climate friendly but trying to keep a classic looking home, that would be sellable down the road. Some colors make your house look cheap which I do not want and trying to please everyone drives you crazy. I really wanted to use the same Glidden High Performance exterior paint since it held up so well and I do not want to have to repeat this job again, unfortunately the Glidden Paint Company has been sold and finding a really good lasting paint is not easy. You may want to focus on a good durable paint along with the beautiful colors.

House prices were crazy in southern Ontario also. Some $200k over asking price! Government had to step in and do something.
Anyhoo, you can't go wrong with warm neutral colours... with a touch of bam!, like Benjamin Moore's Midnight Dream.
Having said that, I've seen houses around here painted with colours similar to Sherwin-Williams' Commodore with white trim (10:06), and I have to say it looks MARVELOUS!
It always helps to see it done first 👍🏻😍

Love love love this content. My home does have red brick on the outside. Do you have any suggestions on colors that go well with red brick ?
paint it. Lots of homes do not keep the brick color. I have seen, or if you look at her video again a lot of all brick fronts are painted. Just like interiors you want to treat each wall as a complete face. Like when they paint trim and baseboards the same as the wall. It is a cleaner and sleeker look.

Thank you for watching Stacey! I can make a case for all the colors in this video tbh 😂 Depends on what you’re trying to achieve. Highlight the natural brick (warm neutrals/ grays) or help tone down the brick hue (greens). Think color theory 101 and watch my wood trim + paint colors video for more tips on how paint color affects natural materials. Hope that helps!
(And of course like Gayle said, you can always paint it neutral if you want to start with a fresh, blank slate)
If you don’t want to paint it, a darker red with a blackish tone looks good. I’ve seen it and wanted the red brick!

Great video Julie! I love the statement color doors, when done right they made the house look more inviting. What does Feng Shui says about color doors? On the other hand I have seen houses where you can't find the door at first glance 🤨

OMG...go to 8:02...Julie, identical to my federal style house, painted a SW olive with deep SW blue-grey shutters.. I SWEAR same colors or effect at least, only... I chose that combination about 9-10 years ago!!
Have to say the colors worked exceedingly well with our various trees... just gorgeous. Sold that house. (Miss my trees!!). But... Wondering what's next...because blue and grey are as overworked as 'Way Done' (if you get my drift., and no, never a fan)...so I'm liking bright sunny yellow this year.....oh, and pale coral too...Oh but I digress, apologies, this particular video is about exterior colors. To me, rule #1 is, remain in the wild backdrop. No billboards. No obnoxiousness. Invisible works when robbers can't see you as well....but the world is so artificial and crowded anymore.....so much better to let your home breathe nature as well. I'm not about color trends for my own choices 😁

I have a brick home that lens’s to a light washed pink. Currently there are faded green shutters on the from and a dirty off white door. I am considering SW in the navy or Naval. Or indigo batik Csn you share your view. The house needs a lift.
