Yes… this one took a great deal of post-production work. Consider that many “bikepacking” related sounds were recorded later in the field or in studio and not during the “scene” you can understand the extra time required. And if you can’t tell… then I’ve done it well. Lots of different options of how you could incorporate this area into a trip. As there are some other roads that offer connections, but the final push past 51km on my route is an out & back.
“Silence is not the absence of something but the presence of everything..." I'm getting into a zen vibe here fella. Beautiful meditative quality to this vid & the ending is classic- chuckles. Much appreciated & many thankies
@@SaltyBeard_Adventures Neat idea, I caught the Zzzs too. A playful juxtaposing of sublime & irreverent. It's a bit like farting whilst meditating or doing yoga. BTW nice Tailfin rig on ya ride.

In this case, I was using mostly a Diety D4 Mini shotgun on my camera, plus a Rode Wireless GO. I do want to get more into field recording. Such little time, and even less money. Plus a great deal of this was recorded during the last view months.
yeah, it's a bit rough in spots but nothing too brutal... think of it as the price for admission to another world. Much of this was made up with footage from three trips (Early April, Mid May, and late June)... the original plan was to also do a "seasons" film, and also film in Sept and first snow but life got very busy last summer/fall and I had to plan something else.
I didn't realize you started at Cow Lake. I'll be there in August with some friends from Vancouver and was going to continue on to Alberni, but maybe I'll do this instead. Thanks.@@SaltyBeard_Adventures
if you have the legs to make a rip in & out in a day, you can camp at Gordon Bay, or better yet, Nixon... and you can skip the dusty South Shore Rd. Another option is to drive up to McLure lake (about 44km on my RWGPS route) and camp there and just explore the area for a few days riding.... there are some other hidden gems in there
Great job, Salty. Very pleasing video. This is one of the reasons I never run or cycle with headphones. I love listening to all the sounds around me
Completely… the only time I listen to music is while Bikepack racing and even at that, maybe only 20% of the time when I need some motivation
The views and the production values are fantastic. That was a joy to watch.
Thanks James… share amongst your friends.
This is why I love to bikepack in the woods! Far from our noisy, daily grind and immersed in the present moment with Mother Nature. Terrific video!
Thanks 😊- yes, deep in the woods is where we find our solace. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Stunning. Well done. Thank you for sharing the RWGPS
Cheers 🌞🚴♀️🖖
You're very welcome. I'm always happy to share routes.

Lotta work went into this.
Beautifully shot and edited.
Yes... sure was. about 40% of all the sound was recorded after and re-designed in post.

Great video, every thing is on such a massive scale compared to England and its forests. Amazing thank you!
And this is just a “small island” - BC is massive.
Amazing work Rob. Thanks for bringing us along.

Wow! You HAVE been busy! Great work, the best yet I've seen. Looking at my map now to see if I can visit the valley this summer. Cheers 💪

I was thinking adding about silly laughter as I ride past the truck each time.
I say this all the time! "Silence is not the absence....". It's why I enjoy so much alone time!

Now that’s funny “farting while doing yoga” 😂
Brilliant!!!

Holà Rob! I really enjoyed this video. Buen trabajo 👏
Hola Martha, me alegro mucho que lo hayas disfrutado. La vida es corta. Viva libre y escuche la conversación de la Madre Naturaleza.
I am speechless.
Hey Mark… Trying new things…
Excellent Salty - thanks for the experience! I was surprised how much headphone improved the experience after starting without them.
Yes... so many subtle sounds that are lost on phone speakers... And while reasonably good on a TV sound bar, nothing beats good headphones.
as beautiful as Buddhist meditating wind chimes! Om Yo!

Thanks for this!
You’re very welcome 😊
Very inspiring video, sir. Liked and subbed.
Many many thanks. Spread the word among your friends. :)
Can't wait to take my Libre on the trip...
An aptly name bike for this adventure... "the state of being free"
Well done Salty. Are you usiing a sound recorder in addition to the camera microphone?
In this case, I was using mostly a Diety D4 Mini shotgun on my camera, plus a Rode Wireless GO. I do want to get more into field recording. Such little time, and even less money. Plus a great deal of this was recorded during the last view months.
Excellent photography and production. I'm tempted to go but the road is a little rough! What time of year you did you do it?
