I appreciate you at least trying to save the handle. I see so many of these restorations where they automatically toss the handle into the trash even if it looks like it can be restored. Did you save the old handle for a different project?
I always enjoy your restoration work, especially on old "high quality " items. It appears that this axe wasn't very good quality. The steel appeared soft and the handle appeared to never to have fit well. You as usual did nice work, but this was putting lipstick on a pig... IMHO. THX
6:30 Sad face. The old handle was gorgeous and graceful. That almost looks like a different axe head - the back end where you had to cut off the mushroomed metal looks too good.
@@FALCON390Workshop definitely, your tools your preference, I was just admiring it before the paint. If it was mine I would remove the paint, all of my tools get used and the paint would always look like it needs repainted.
No. A tomahawk would have a smaller head and a a more curved beard. Also the handle would be simpler,so if your handle breaks you just pop out the old handle, make a new one and you good.
BEAUTIFUL JOB !!!
Thank you!!
Great job on the new handle, the paintwork was a nice touch also. Your progress is awesome. Well done.
Thank you very much. Glad you like the final results. 👍😊
That turned out great!
Glad you liked it. 👍
The flap disc you used for grinding is the best for it. Once I tried to grind with such a completely flat disc. It was hard.
They are really good for removing material.
Thanks
You are right! I use grinder with angle grinder, it turns very fast.
Nice restoration for a beautiful axe, but for the red painting. I would prefer to keep the metal's colouring.
Why?
I appreciate you at least trying to save the handle. I see so many of these restorations where they automatically toss the handle into the trash even if it looks like it can be restored. Did you save the old handle for a different project?
Thank you so much. Yes the old handle was used for another smaller axe head.
Instablaster.
Fantastic restoration and save of an 🪓🪓🪓🪓
Thanks 👍
Absolutely beautiful
Thanks
What´s the small piece of metal you pounded in the hatchets eye for?
That was just a fun for myself. I always try to do something new and different with each project a do.
Fantastic job!!!
👍
Perfect end result.
Thanks 👍
Great Job 👍
Loved it
Thanks
Good work, i just dislike the red paint, polished to mirror finish will look better
I prefer paint 👍 thanks for feedback
@@FALCON390Workshop I agree mirror finish is stupid on an axe or anything for that matter, unless you want it to look cheap
Where do you get all the axe heads you restore?
Ebay or auction house
@@FALCON390Workshop Thanks for the reply, not many people do that.. Thanks again..
Awsome!
👍
Wow, well done!
👍
Awesome job
Thank you
Very nice!
Thanks
Your like the first person I've ever seen that has attempted to reuse the original handle.
👍
gut gemacht...
Thanks 👍
Nice job. Thats a clean little hatchet. I like the simplicity. Is it my imagination or does the hamon not run the full length of the blade?
I think you right 👍
Good job!
👍
Now you have a fireman’s hatchet. Also, how many ax’s and knives do you have?
Hi. Thanks 👍
Not many I sell most of them
Wow good sir .... You are a true Axe craftsman , in the making .....
I wish i could purchase some of you're great work from yah 😎
Thank you very much!
Looks like someone used it heavily for pounding something hard for the head to be splayed out so bad. Looks great now. Thumbs Up!
I think someone used it to split wood using like a wedge . That would explain the ware on the edges.
Thanks
Quite possible
Muy buena restauración
👍
Good job 👍
Thanks
Let the metal soak in white vinegar for at least 24 hours. And it will remove the rust. It might take up to five days.
👍
nice job.
Thanks 👍
It's satisfying
Glad you like it.
Great work! Love the red paint, gives it character.
Thanks
Thanks
I just subbed , Great video !!!
Thanks 👍
Nice work !
Cheers
GREAT RESTORATION!!!! Really nice Axe.
Thanks 👍
great work
Thanks
Why was it on upside down?
That's a good question. I bought it like that.
The back of this axe head is not a hammer. It really bothers me how someone misuses and damages tools like this.
I know. I guess if you own a tool you can use whatever you need to get the job done.
Mohogany for a hatchet handle sounds like just for looks and metal wedges are for repair but the main fact is excellent workmanship
Agree, excellent indeed. Was going to say, you don’t need the staple/wedge. Beautiful job on the wood wedge. That should hold it just fine.
Thanks
Thanks
Good job
👍
Nice work restoring an abused old ax.
Thanks you
I did exactly that just yesterday
Awosome. Cool.man👍

I think the first treatment should be rust remover. You could have saved two flap wheels.
Thanks for feedback

What the detective story is about is not murder but the restoration of order.

I wouldn't have painted it myself. But good work all the same.

Great job. Set yourself up a simple electrolysis bath. You will have no rust, even in the eye.

Your workshop is such a mess 😂
It's not a mess. It's a project in progress :)
@@FALCON390Workshop that might be the hardest project of your channel for now 👍
It was not upside down. Now it is..
Are you sure?
@@FALCON390Workshop
I'm quite sure. Wider side of hole should be on top.
But shouldn't the beak of the axe's blade be facing down as he finally put it?
?
Looked great until you painted it.
Do you not like painted tools ?
@@FALCON390Workshop not often, bare, oiled or blued

Upright? Can you explain a bit more ?
Sorry due..dont like the red paint job and the handle finish falls flat!
no worries. thanks for watching
I am sure that this ax is not chopping or badly chopping
But chopping
The Deerfoot grip on the old handle was great.
Your knob is ugly and would be totally uncomfortable. Try again you have nothing to loose.
👍
was I the only one who noticed that the axe head originally was hung upside down
I did
Why noone likes this paint ?
I like it
