That axe still needs a lot of help. You did well for what you did do, it feels incomplete.
I know what you mean. I may do some improvements in the future.
Thanks :)
I've watched a few of the axe restorations now and have decided to stop looking at the comments because they annoy me. When people shine up the axes like a mirror and get rid of the "rustic" look people complain. When someone keeps the rustic look people complain that they didnt remove enough rust or corrosion then people say it's not even a restoration. The person working on the axe has their own personal preference on what they want to do with it and y'all just need to respect them for that, your comments probably wont change their opinion at all, it's just unnecessary hate.
That is very true. Thanks for that 👍
It's probably like goldilocks, too much, too little, just right.
1800 people gave this a thumbs down,,,,how stupid is that.
Some axes needs to be shiny.. I will never use an axe like this to split logs.. It will stuck....
At the end of the day, it is their thing to restore the way they want. They could chose to plow it over with an eighteen wheeler if they really want to.
good quality steel hammer
👍
When the rust came off it looked like and aftermath of taco Bell in the toilet
Was thinking could the same process be used to clean the helmet?
...you may need to see a doctor.
@@vortecmacs really? I was quite looking forward to leaving it in soak overnight!
Agree with you
Haha
Your work shop subliminal message, “subscribe”, worked!
Great :) Thanks
Very nice Restoration
Thanks
Wow. At first I couldn't believe that you weren't going to remove all that rust, but the end result looks great! Nice job!
Thanks a lot.
I tend to keep a vintage look of my restored tools. Glad you enjoy the video 😊
I'm glad ya showed what can happen unexpectedly. Great safety video actually. Glad ya wasn't injured.
Great video. Nice restoration
Thanks 👍
Restored, yet still looks old...... perfect !

Well said👍
It's like a Freddy Krueger make-over.
That's a good one 👍
One of these days you're gonna reenact that scene from Hot Rod when Andy Samberg takes Bill Hader to the hospital
👍
Nice
Thanks👍
You and I have a different idea about what is restoring. And there is nothing wrong with that,to each his own. I believe it was a little far gone for a true restoration. You put in a lot of hard work doing what you did. Great effort.
Thanks for feedback
Thanks
Very in complet job
Why ?
this is the greatest restoration channel i've found so far
Thank you 👍

Sorry mate 🤣
Bring the metal back to life was the amazing thing.
Thanks 👍
Nice restoration
Thanks!
theres always a beauty under the rust..well done sir.
Thanks. You are right 👍
Never tried electrolysis. Looks like it worked out fine. Good restoration. 👍
Need to try it. It's cheap and good way of de-rusting.
Wow an actual case of an “IMPOSSIBLE” restoration
Appreciate your feedback 👍
And this video is a prime example of, why NO ONE should wear gloves while using a drill press! I have seen people lose fingers from this exact scenario!
Thanks for the "highlighted comment", I think this a first.
Appreciate your feedback 👍
You're welcome and I do agree with comment.
Holy delay in response..... 😆
@@anthonytetreau522 Hehe. Better late than never 😂

Te ha quedado preciosa! Buen trabajo!!
Thanks
Why do you think so
no hatchet hung next to the fire hose in buildings to meet fire code until they started to disappear and was found that leaving a door closed was the best policy
👍
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙏
Thank you👍
Time to buy a router and jigsaw I think. Would be a big time saver.
Sharpen it next time, 20:05 its so blunt!!
Sometimes you need to get by with what you have on hand 👍
Good job

I want to buy a sand blaster. Thanks for commenting.
Dude... the reason you use a proper vice or clamp on a drill press is you don't get injured. I've seen a guy loose 1.5 inch diameter of scalp with the hair getting caught in the mandrel. ... didn't have it tied back, or under a hat. You were very lucky. If you continue using tools, pray you do so, safely. Good luck.
No matter how cool the project, not worth loosing an eye, tearing open your hand etc.
Point taken. Thanks for concerns. I do appreciate that.
Thanks
Thank you 👍
7:56 IT WAS DANGEROUS! ,
Thanks for feedback
Love to see how you restore a skip of rust into a Ford escort now
Hehe that's funny one 🤣👍
Appreciate your feedback 👍
When is he gonna start restoring it?
Soon 👍
If you wanted to leave the axe pitted so be it...but the handle is not what i would have done, its to boxy and big for that form of axe...a more slender handle maybe distressed a bit...
That being said, its your axe and if you're happy thats all that matters...if its for a client and they are happy its their money...and thats all that matters
Until these keyboard warriors pay your bills their opinion doesnt matter...i would have done it differently but again i am not paying your bills, so until i do my opinion doesnt matter really either...
I personally would have looked at howe much axe head was left and if it was enough ground down to a level surface, if not i would have left it alone and tried to perma blue it or something to prevent further decay
If i shines it new, new handle, if its pitted something distressed...
But like i said i didt pay the bills
Hi there. I really appreciate your comment and I understand where you coming from. I would also appreciate if you have a look at my other fireman's axe restorations and share your opinion too. Handles are not too boxy there 😊
Thanks for checking my video out and your input.
It's good to see to honest criticism , not intended to be rude, taken as such with honest appreciation.
That's how it should work.
What wonderful project..
Thanks !
At least no one died.
lol
Good job. If you would have removed all the rust and pitting it would have taken too much material off of it and it wouldn't have performed well. Also, I believe that this is a ''railroad ax''. A fireman's ax, or''pulaski'' has a larger head and longer handle. Be sure to coat the head well with boiled linseed oil or rustolium. You done good!
I do really appreciate what he did but what if he could have heated up the entire axe to Red hot and then chilled it in oil bath and then grinded it to shining it all the way down then wouldn't that look much cooler...???
Nope that’s a fireman’s belt axe, not used so much, if at all, anymore. Was still issued into the 70’s though.
@@deepakkonwar2840 it really depends on the type of steel, but doing that with simple carbon steels will just harden them lol it wouldn't really make it look any different
Same that is very small too be a fire axe
Am pretty sure it's one of these.

Dude.. you gotta work on your drill press game. Or at the very least, get your self a drill press vise
Thanks for feedback
Well done. I like your restoration. Fantastic.
Thank you 👍

That axe is unrestorable

The first Algerian Arab to watch the video really cool video
Thank you 👍
Enjoyed your video and gave it a Thumbs Up
Thanks
Great work on the handle. I like that you kept the vintage look and it's character.
More square than I care for, though still a good job.
Thanks
Nice handle.
Thanks 👍
great restoration nice job 👍
Thanks
To work with a clean axe head.
Nice new handle, and I'm glad you removed all that rust, but.....restoration? Eh....
Yep

Do you like that style ?

good attempt
Thank you :)
good table leg
Lol
I see the red rub stuff used with your grinder. Then you used white and used your grinder. What are the rub stuff called and what is the grit sandpaper you use for both? Thank you. Beautiful work
Thank for watching.
Could you add time stump to the parts you asking about. Just time in that format: for example 2:35 so I'll be able to give you accurate answer. Thanks again and check my other videos out!
Good job leaving all that pitting so it can rust over again.
Thanks for feedback
There're some axe in my rust
🤣🤣🤣👍
Next time when you do electrolysis.. add a cup of vinegar and use Iceland salt... And buy some good drill bits, stop using Poundland drill bits 😁😉
👍🤣
Thanks for feedback
You know you can save yourself some time and energy if you just use white vinegar to take off the rust probably lower your electric bill too
I'll have to do this with today's energy prices
You should’ve added a compass and bottle opener into the handle
That's a good idea for next project
Appreciate your feedback 👍
The axe looked better when it was rusty. Looked like you attached a table leg to a beat up axe and called it a day.
Hehe, thanks for your feedback
I don't know how much my comment will mean to you , but you did an awesome job and you definetely deserve more subs 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks a lot!
I really appreciate your comment.
Thanks!
An axe restoration?
Thanks
Good work, but handle from spruce wood is not good for every tool, mainly not to axe handle better is ash or beech wood. 👍🏻
👍
If you turn your chisel bevel down it works better
I'll try this definitely.
Thanks!
Good job about the restoration bro..
But why are you so aggressive on opening the package??
Hehe that's just me 🤣
I think you took off just enough rust and pitting...NAIL IT!! but i HAte the handle way to thick at the top.
Can't have everything 🤣👍
@@FALCON390Workshop The handle looks like the leg from my coffee table. If you had to use this ax the handle would be inter-fearing a lot. As for "can't have everything" when you make it yourself you can have everything. You simply start over until you are happy.
@@pghgeo816 I get your point. Thanks👍
Back in business
👍
Have I finally found a restoration person in the uk
Yes you did 👍
Hey falcon390 workshop where did you get the wood dye and what brand is it ?
I got it from auction lot.
I see that Russia guys right comment your job! Handle amful and not comfortable to keep. 3 stars
👍
12:31 He brought a rusty axe to a Stuka Dive Bomber fight!
Hehe I hear that now
Very disappointed - no rusty firemen at all in this video 0/10
Your comment is disappointing too
Was it restoration or making axe handle?
Both
"Ancient Nordic Battle Axe"
Nice one 👍
Appreciate your feedback 👍
Crude but effective. I would have grinder the whole thing down to shine.
that would remove half of the material.
Appreciate your feedback 👍
