    It was loads of fun to experiment with Oilbrushers - New Paints!!
    Very happy to share too because I believe these are quite interesting paints and a worthwhile addition to the toolkit.
    Please keep in mind that this one is not a Tutorial as it's the first time to use them. You can however follow these steps yourself and get excellent results too.
    I test a number of ways to use them;
    * Using the Precision Applicator for detail work
    * Using Oil Brushes for Washes and Filters
    * Testing Oilbrushers "neat", with no thinner
    * Recovering from Oilbrushers mistakes - includes Stinky Linc Blooper footage of me messing up and then fixing it!
    Hope you enjoy this one, please let me know if you have any questions and I'll do another detailed Tutorial on using Oilbrushers specifically for Weathering Steps very soon!
    Very special thanks to the team at AMMO for asking me to collaborate on this video which can also be seen on their offical channel here, please also subscribe to them!

    You can also share with us in the AMMO Group on Facebook here;

    Hey dude, the vids you've done on this Ghostkeel are pretty inspiring. Any chance you could do a tutorial on how you did the chipping effect shown on this one? I've triple checked the vids you made but none of the current 3 have details on the chipping.
    Cheers!

      hey dude, thanks a bunch! Just love 40k stuff and am doing an Ork Wazbom Blastajet now and plans to do a bunch more. Especially Tau stuff, maybe a Hammerhead or a Tigiershark! But yes, I had to cut down these videos to 10mins for AMMO by Mig, they also appear on their TH-cam channel. I made much longer versions here on my site, it says there's 15posts and there's a full weathering tutorial at 22mins. All here; www.patreon.com/paintonplastic/posts?tag=Ghostkeel

    Very cool. I'm thinking about going back to model kits as a hobby, but I live on a small apartment now, and a compressor would be impossible. Will try some of your techniques to see if I can manage to paint them here!

      Hello Diego, welcome back to the hobby! Yes, I "invented" my process because I lived in a tiny, Tokyo apartment so this will work for you. Please be in touch my friend!

      Thank you! I also just discovered Maschinen Krieger through your channel, I'm in love. I'm 37 years old and last year discovered Synthwave music, and that reminded me how much I love retro-futuristic stuff. Will build some M.K. kits for sure! Cheers from Brazil.

    Can i use this over acrylics?? Like citadel and vallejo? Or does it solude the acrylic?

  • @cruzer890

    Great video as usual Linc. If I couldn’t get my hands on some of the thinner you used, what else could I use to thin them? I am really interested in these as I can easily ship them to where I live. I would be putting them over Vallejo acrylics and using them as a wash.
    Thanks again for all the great content you produce!

    What red spray paint did you use for basing and did you have a mr. color paint to match it for touch-up like the white?

  • @thedr00
    @thedr00 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh man, how long did that chipping effect take you?
    Nice video too Linc, i've been on the fence about the Oilbrushers, you totally convinced me!

    • @PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright
      @PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks man!! Oilbrushers - yes, it's at least worth buying a couple to add to your collection for colours you like and often use. The chipping wasn't too long but I was careful and selective. In fact, you can watch the whole, extended cut series including the Weathering here if you are interested. bit.ly/SupportPoP You get access to ALL the Extended Cut videos, am building up quite a few now. :)

      I'd love to bud, but i'm in a Brexit induced non-employable phase of my career right now. When someone hires me (or politicians see sense) i'll sub up for sure!

    • @PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright
      @PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When politicians see sense... that's going to be some time off. Membership cost less than 2 Oilbrushers a month, its cheap! :)

      It's not your prices that are the issue bud, it's my finances. I'll join when I can (you have my word on that), but i'm going to be a shameless freeloader until then :-)
      Now, MORE VIDEOS LINC! :-)

    • @PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright
      @PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's the challenge for me too... there's only so many free videos I can make before I need to stop too due to finances...

    Hey Lincoln, can I ask for a bit of advice? I want to get into the hobby of painting models and plan to buy some Tau figures.
    Your techniques look really cool and I want to try to replicate your weathered looks. But heres the thing: In my inexperience, am I only setting myself up for failure?
    I'd be sad to spend a lot of time and money to only end up frustrated. And thanks for the awesome videos, they really inspired me!

    • @PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright
      @PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Commodore EU, thanks for the kind words and welcome! In fact, I just wrote a blog post article about this very concept - I'd like us to think of our hobby as a journey, a progression through our craft with the ultimate goal of self improvement. This applies to me too, I am constantly learning and testing new ideas, techniques and styles. Please check it out here if that interests you; bit.ly/PoPkaizen

      @CommodoreEU 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright I read the article and watched the video, I really like the idea of trying to learn and improve yourself every day. I guess I just have to give it a shot and be open minded about the results. Even if I make a lot of mistakes at the beginning, if I learn from them than my second model will be better. Thanks for the advice!

      Paint on Plastic by Lincoln Wright Yeah, it looks amazing (both the painting and the sculpting). Great channel by the way , it really helped my with my own kits.

      Rex Zer0 indeed, it is a really cool sculpt and I felt it almost painted itself. Glad to hear the channel helps and it awesome to have you in our community Rex!
