For the people who think I spend much more time because it's for Squidmar: No, I didn't. I did this kind of work for the last year with this price and always spend roughly the same amount of hours on a piece. The only thing that changed for this figure, was the boost of motivation, because I did this for someone I've been watching for years now.

Dude, i just wanted to say that i absolutely LOVED your figure, that glowing effect you did on the sword is just... I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT'S JUST GODLIKE, do you have any social media that you post your painted figures? i'd love to see more of your work
Yours was incredible! Keep up the great work and definitely charge more. Try and find a price point based upon your hourly time commitment. You're getting paid because you are incredibly skilled and talented. If a mini like that takes you 4-6 hours what you charge should reflect your hourly rate whether that be $20-$40 dollars. So 4 hours at $20 should be $80 and so on and so forth. I hope you get lots of business from this!

I think one of the biggest takeaways from this series is how drastically many creators undervalue their work.
Well the big question is if these painters over-deliver for the price paid because they know who squidmar are, and know potential new customers will come/not come, depending on result.

As far as I know he usually doesn't reveal who he is... at least that's what he said in one of the last videos

If you have a bit of spare time and you're pretty good, make an account with a cheap price point.
If you get a commission, do it and learn from the experience.

From someone who dont play this game and dont know about it i think your Figure is the best of all.
All the others have this ugly green "glow" (people in comments say its glow) and i really dont know why. For me it looks they just want to safe time so they just make it in this ugly green everywhere so they dont have to color it. Even animals on Hand on the expensive ones are green i mean wtf? If you want glow use light but dont make figures green!?

I always get nervous when watching videos that are 'we paid people on fiverr' that people's hard work is just going to get shit on. But I'm so happy so see every price point being celebrated. Hats off to all the artists.

Wow, first of all, those minis look amazing! And, all of the miniatures are painted to an exceptional standard! Of course, we expect the pros to look great (and they did), but all of the commission artists made really, really compelling pieces. This was a really fun video.

The expensiv ones all have this green color everywhere for "glow", i think thats just ugly and should save time so they dont have to color it?
In my opinion the cheaper ones are way better, this at 5:08 is the best of all
My favorite mini was littledemonstudios paint job. The way he painted the little fox to make it seem like he’s creating all the little woodland creatures with his magic is soo creative. And his flesh tones are gorgeous. The detail on the feathers is stunning too
I love the shaman ork from fiver, the way the animal coming out of his finger goes from blue mana to flesh and fur looks amazing. Also really excited to see the rest of the elves, deffo my favourite design can just imagine him awaiting trespassers in their land, leaning on his sword intimidatingly saying “what business do you have here?”
that was my favorite part too ! I love how it made it really look that the magical energy was turning to flesh, it truly felt like this was caught in the middle of a summoning spell.

Honestly ALL were fantastic. Some had superior technique but the guys who had less technique were also the ones with the boldest choices. But that second orc was the best painted mini I've ever seen. That guy is nothing short of a genius. All these guys are worth their salt, from the first to the last.

All were epic, but the very first was my favorite. The glowing blade and the sheen on the cape over his hand, plus the fur
I have no idea when it comes to miniatures. Don't own any. Never probably will. I watched this just out of curiosity as to the quality of work at the different levels of pay. I must say that I am totally blown away. I think all of those look awesome. Again, I have no idea what to look for or what makes a paint job great, and I appreciate you guys explaining what you noticed, but man, the time and care that was put into those is amazing. Just wanted to say to all the people who painted those.......well done. I am just super impressed.

EVERY miniature was really stunningly painted, meaning the "best painters of the world" must level up fast because fivrr's painters are close!

I really like the idea about commissioning different artists to do different pieces, each have their own style and creative outlook. It's like having a mini museum showcasing the work of great artists :)
All of those paint jobs look amazing, would be hard to judge them
The gloom on the sword of the 1st mini is fantastic!! It's really very atmospheric, gives me a Skyrim vibe, I can almost feel the cold coming from that sword.
I LOVE seeing multiple artists' interpretations of these minis. All of them were next-level paintjobs, but the bases really through them over the top. Seeing these is going to effect how I paint, which is great.
Please do more of these type videos. Both your commentary is really enjoyable. Keep up the great work!

All marvelous results, I honestly think I'd feel guilty over the price paid for the first one that result is amazing especially that sword.
Man, the sheer skill and creativity shown just blows me away. i love this series and really look forward to painting some of those minis myself
Erik Swinson's mini is what it looks like if you sell your soul to some entity, honestly its godlike, looks like a digital painting
The first guy got sold short, even with all the praise that glow effect is insane. I genuinely didn't realise there was no light there until my brain caught up and remembered it was a paint job. It's insane how well done that effect is.

I know nothing about Warhammer and I could watch this all day. These people are so talented.
Aythami Alonsos absolutely blew me away with that "skin". Might be my favorite I've seen in this series.
The blue light glowing off the sword onto the body was very creative and skilled for the priced charged .
The comparisons proves that paying more for something don't always means it's better , it just meas you paid more for it .
The amount of great talent in the world should humble those who managed to become very successful from their talent because there are always someone who haves equal talent or better who just weren't fortunate to be as successful .
The artist who charged $45 probably paints as a hobby after working their job and was just as good compared to the artists who are painting strictly as a business to pay their bills .
Something to think about the amount of talented people out in the world .
I wish it would’ve been mentioned more, but the absolute amount of detail Mathias Put into his piece was phenomenal. I wish they would’ve noticed the glow of the sword on the body. *chefs kiss*

Your ork was absolutely unreal, perfect in every way. Erik's version was stylistic and incredible, but I can't stop pausing to admire the details in your work.
I wanted to start painting miniatures as a hobby as I don't play any of the games or know the lore really well, but man I don't think I could ever do the quality of work these guys are putting out! That first mini needs to be priced at least double for the quality and it's crazy how people undervalue their time and talent!

The first model is incredible. All are brilliant work. But such an excellent use of colour to imitate the glow without the glow

The 43$ one with the blue glow from the sword was so damn good
My favourite was the Orc by Littledemonstudio. It's such a nice touch, having the palms and underside of the arms be a different colour and it just makes so much sense!
Those are some great cabinets! Cant wait to order them normally. Love the artwork on the elf with the black armour. Thats just a colour preference for me.

All of the minis were amazing! I have taken ideas from every single one which I am now going to try myself, thankyou so much! (and well done to the painters)
Something that I always remember in videos like these: People do not correctly value their work enough.
To make the judgment less bias, you should reveal the painter to yourself after you make the judgment
My favourite part of the video was, when i looked at my painted minis and started sobbing until my voice was gone and i told them they were still my precious in a gollum like voice. Also i like the artist opus displays for those amazing minis...i just bought a trashcan to store mine 😂
I know the feeling. Everyone (local) who sees what I've painted is always telling me they're great. And the whole time I'm thinking "PLEASE don't look at TH-cam, please don't!"
All those paint jobs looked fantastic, but I must say I was blown away by the guy who did the paintjob for was it like $43 or something, I mean 550 or 43. I know who I would choose for most of my painting needs.
They were all really amazing! Had to watch the video more than once to appreciate them.
Just as you said, I also love these vids with the comparison between the different artists takes on the minis and at different price scales
In one way these videos are so inspiring. On the other hand I will never ever be close to this good so I feel sad xD

Lukas's minie is my favorite, I just love the rough feel it has. (Except for the back).
The NokoDize ork, then the other ork, and then the second druid (the expensive one).
The rest are also great, incredible models and very well painted.

I would love to see the Shaman Orc (Gondar?) painted in the red he is depicted as in the concept art. I know green is the orc default but my personal belief is orcs are so versatile you can do so much more. Paint a red orc Squidmar!!!

Honestly can't believe the quality you received for the price you paid. These artists are great and should probably recalculate their prices... even the highest price of 600€ for 30-40 hours is like an average office job level hourly wage for something completely unique custom painted based on years of practice plus expenses.
The first shaman ork was by far my favourite. The details were all incredible, but the saturated colour on the ork!!! Oh my Lord that looked insane! What a beautiful figure.
My favourite? The very first one.
There is just something a out the purplehued rocks and the blue OSL. The whole thing has such an atmosphere about it.
But the rest were realy good as well ofc

Some of these are great. I know it’s all subjective but as an artist as well, I feel like one bit of feedback I’d have to people hiring painters is maybe give them a colour pallet or point them in the direction of colours because it’s your personal preference and yes, there is artistic liberty but at least personally I find it tacky looking when I see too many contrasting/bold colours rather than maybe one contrasting and then the rest complimenting.
The shadows are mind bogglinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.
45 bucks men deserves all. He need to valuing his work more, such an artist.

These models are all astonishingly well painted. However, it was the turquoise light on Simenmaler's mini that made me go, "Whoa!"

I like how Simenmaler extended the upper lip highlight to the mouth's edge. That made the elf smile instead of being angry.
