People are talking about Biden and ageism, which I agree with to some extent. I think a better way to frame the situation is cognitive ability/cognitive decline. Whether you are 40 or 80, you require a high level of cognitive function to be the leader of your country. If you are suffering from the level of decline that Joe Biden appears to be, in normal times it would be better to let someone else step up. I agree with Jonathan's analysis; the situation is so complicated that the normal/obvious solution necessarily can't be followed.

Hey JP, Love your work. Saw an interview with one of Trump's former advisors. When asked how trump was planning on dealing with Ukraine situation in less than 24 hours he said something along the lines of: trump would call Zelensky first to ask what they may or may not settle for and then call Putin and tell him to agree to reasonable peace deal or else he's going to make the aid provided to Ukraine so far by Biden look like peanuts. It was a TR interview w a guy name Nigel something.
So, basically the opposite of the plan that came out a few days ago? lmao.
so basically a suggestion that ukraine wont accept as it would cede territory to the russians . then he can lay the blame at zelensky's door for not accepting his wonderful idea

I feel like i've become a lot more centrist over the past couple years. I live in the state of California, and tbh as somone from the left I don't really like him. He has pretty bad PR in California, so idk if he would be the best candidate. I think he would be a good last minute shoe-in. Just wondering if others on the left in California like him. I can't really aspouse why I don't like him, I think it's more just hes been in the ringer a lot, and decisions he makes are pretty brutal.
Just the small things like, gas stoves being banned or the likes of that by lets say 2026,
and now there was something too about freeways, fires, taxes, transport.

I think it's time for Biden to step down. 4 months is a long time to last. Do it now before it's too late. I am no expert on US politics but I like the look of Raskin; strong moral compass, great talker/debater and fit and healthy after beating cancer. The last debate should have finished Trump off. I watched Biden debating 25 years ago, he was great but is now a shadow of his former self. 😢
The dems had 4 years to find a different candidate. It was widely accepted that Biden was too old in 2020. They didn't do that. Major strategic misstep.
I have great respect for Jamie Raskin and hope he may run in the next election.
I also have great respect for Ben Hodges. Ben Hodges has more managerial experience to head up the executive department while Jamie Raskin's knowledge of Constitutional Law.
What a President Ben Hodges could be with Jamie Raskin as VP or Attorney General.
I was hoping Andrew Yang would run for President but have been very impressed with Mr. Raskin and Mr. Hodges, who could be a terrific Commander in Chief, which essentially is the top duty of any President.

As a pro-democracy voter, my support continues with Biden. Former Sec Def Esper warned Trump is a “threat to democracy” and that people in any second Trump administration will likely display loyalty - not to the Constitution - but loyalty to Trump.
Trump's threat to democracy is also why the Democratic party nominates their strongest team ever: Biden and Harris. I don't think Trump has got a chance in November.
