You've actually got a first revision version of the T-40 - the first ones didn't have body contours or a stomach cut, so they were even heavier! As Peavey got better with their CNC machines, they were able to refine the bodies. The tone controls were also pretty innovative - from 0-8 the pickups are full humbucking, but past that one coil cuts out. The bottom switch is an in phase/out of phase. The guitar plant was in Meridian, Mississippi, where they made the amps. I got to tour that plant in '84 on work training, quite a place. I got to see a lot of stuff, including a prototype T-62 guitar that was a T-60 made out of walnut. I'd love to get a T-40 for my collection.
Sorry to tell you, that body is not one piece. If you notice, there are 2 larger pieces with a smaller 2-inch piece sandwiched in the middle. You can see the difference in the grain if you know wood which I do. Nice
the wood used for this guitar was actually northern ash. That's the same wood they make louisville sluggers from and is much denser than swamp ash that is a common tone wood.
That was my first bass in 94 as a young teenager. Paid $300 at a pawnshop for the bass and a 40watt amp. I ended up selling both in 2008 for a bit more than I paid originally. I wish I had it back. That was a great bass!
My first bass guitar ever was PV Patriot. bass guitar1980 1981 had to be 80.. And a (T k o 65) Base amp I love.. PV Bases and their apps from the eighties I think the base was like I think the base was $319. And the base sample is right around the same price. Back in a good old days. Big old gigantic p a cabinets. Everything was crazy big in the eighties. I'll be right everybody's back is bad now l o l. Wow that brings back so many memories.
ok dave great set up on this guitar. i have a 79-80 exact version of this guitar inherited from my cousin and the guitar is almost mint never on the road kinda guitar in original hardshell case. 12-1300 ive seen on the guitar in case. im in south carolina. if i have a question on the setup and since your a bass player can a give you a call. im a les paul player from 1976 personally
One thing about weigh: Hardware heft adds significantly. The bridge itself is a lethal. Ridiculous tone. Only flaw (on the maple necks) is a tendancy to split (seamed up the centerline).

I had one of these. Great bass. Very versatile, but very heavy.
I have had one since 1980 or so. Got it for $225! Doesn’t get the respect it deserves. Great tone and sustain IMO. Still plays great!
Wow my brother had one of those when we were teenagers blast from the past

I had one for a while, preferred the early version of the Foundation bass.
I had one of those back in the 80s. This one looks like mine did.e was heavier than that.
Is that a spectrum bass hanging on the wall
Spectre
Hope the tilt screw wasn't being used. Cranking on the neck screws like that with the neck tilt screw engaged makes the fret board crack
Mình cũng sở hữu 1 cây như video nhưng màu trắng. Tiếc là chưa đủ trình độ để khai thác âm thanh của cây đàn này
Don't worry about it, just play it and have fun. It doesn't matter how good you are on it!
@@ZIMMSGUITARS cây này kết hợp với fuzz sansamp tech 21 liệu có hợp lý khi làm show không anh ?
Play it! Make funny faces and enjoy yourself! Who cares what others think?
I like my 82 t40 and my 82 t60
Hey, is that a diy neck tilt on your body?
I've done a few of them.
Damn Dane has a nice body! (The Peavey, I mean)🤣✌
🤣👍
@@rockdaddy2168 Cheers buddy! 🍻
Was that dink your teeth into that by talas
Ricanbacker for me sounds better
swamp ash is ash, and looks like regular (northern) ash. the t40 is not swamp ash. i wish it was
This so full of misinformation.
