    Great video. The T-40 neck humbucker with a pick has a particularly great tone. Reminds me of an Ovation Magnum - another great Made in USA 70's bass.

    Great video. Rare tech info on classic basses, great riffs, cool playing style, and lmao humour. Nice one Rib Have to say, I like the sound of the 45, but also the flexibility of 40's pots and pick-ups arrangement.

      I was recently contemplating routing the T45 and dropping in another T series humbucker between the current pickup and bridge...Basically in J positions....I really think this is how the T40 should have been.....I'm not going to do it though

    T40 front pickup single coil = heaven

      Im curious, lug....do you play with a pick? I know youve used the T-40 forever and I really think they sound amazing with a pick on any of its single coil modes

    Oh, I like the red one best. I felt the double humbucker one was a little thicker sounding.

    I get a kick out of how serious you look when playing, All Business Bass.

      @Rib13Bass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL - Im like that in RL too. Im a goofball (if my videos are any indication) but I go through life with a look of seriousness on my face that is usually mismatched with my thought process - and people tell me this often...My face says "Lets get down to business" but my mind is thinking "Bacon and Eggs? Sounds nice!"

    Went to checkout a T45 a couple weeks ago after watching your vid. Too bad the frets we're worn down almost flat, and they are no longer cheap. These two basses sounded particularly good when you used a pick.

    • @Rib13Bass
      @Rib13Bass  ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree! ...and I just mentioned that on a discussion board a day or so ago. These basses shine with a pick. They really do - and Im surprised I dont see them used with Prog bands more often ( the T40 especially)..Too bad I'm not really a pick player lol.......Congrats again to Josie: I'll finally have some time to check out the competition video sometime this weekend

    Too bad Peavey isn't smart enough to reissue these bases with some modern upgrades.

    Can I add a 3rd pickup in the middle of both T-40 pickups in a way that itd be a T-40/45 hybrid? Is it possible?

    • @Rib13Bass
      @Rib13Bass  ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont know lol........that would be cool, though

  • @sinakaedwards2009
    @sinakaedwards2009 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the red one has more punch, maybe it is articulation. I play, I'm not very talented, I play mainly root notes sometimes in rhythm, but my attack is so aggressive I get fret buzz on any bass in standard tuning. I have snapped strings like a guitarist. My first bass instructor, actually only person to instruct me on bass, said I had the hardest attack of anybody he ever met. When I pluck strings I pluck strings.

    • @Rib13Bass
      @Rib13Bass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are using the same type of strings and freshness....and I think the T45 tends to be a little more punchier as well, mainly because of that pickup positioning.

  • @BobBlackBass

    Here's a fairly predictable comment: I like the 40 better. I think over-all, it just gets more done.
