    Hey guys,
    Here is the link for the Online Self-Check: www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Accreditation/IQNM.aspx
    We also had some feedback from different international nurses who submitted their queries to AHPRA as to whether their US NCLEX can be used for their Australian registration. AHPRA told them that it is accepted as long as it is taken in the last 10 years.
    Please place your comments if you know anything more about this matter or if you want to know more about something else so we can help our fellow aspiring RNs. Have a nice day guys!

      NCLEX RN is a USA and CANADA standard trademarked by NCSBN USA. Otherwise, if it's not American standard, then it won't be NCLEX-RN. At least, that's my understanding.

    Hi guys, i have send an enquiry in APHRA’s webpage regarding my NCLEX exam which i took year 2008.
    And they said that After completing the self check and they receive all the correspondence by then i can clarify once more if my previous NCLEX can be considered..
    having said that by ApHRA i think i can see some chance or consideration of all NCLEX passers because if they don’t they can directly say “no , we need another NCLEX that is exclusively arrange by us” but it also bothers me because they haven’t directly said Yes as well because “It is already NCLEX administered by NCSBN 🤔
    So, for now I will just wait for the online self check then hear it directly from them of what is their assessment for me to take path.
    By the way this video is informative and helpful. Thanks guys..
    Kudos!

    Thank you so much for the info. I’m a DOH nurse for 2 years. Entering a hospital was so hard for me. I had a lot of rejections and my high board rating was not valued enough for me to be hired. I felt helpless because I know for a fact that they hired people with ‘backers’. I had no choice but to enter community Nursing (no regrets). Again, thank you for this channel! I can dream again of becoming a Nurse again in Australia 🥺❤️🙏🏻 My 2 years experience was not put into waste..

    All of what youve said, i have read on it in one way or another but thanks for summing it all up. i saw one post in an FB group sharing AHPRA's response to her concern. AHPRA said you can use your US NCLEX-RN result as long as it is within a certain period of time (3 years, not sure). Im really disappointed in this movement. it sounds to me they no longer want IQRNs to flood in the land down under. I mean its definitely not on our favor, so i think im backing out. If i pass nclex, id rather go US and save the hassle of taking the OSCE.

    • @jcandloraine
      @jcandloraine  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome Charles! We can't really change the content of what AHPRA says because we do not want any miscommunication. All we can do is summarise so really, wherever you go or whatever TH-cam channel or video you watch about the OBA it will all be summaries.
      Yes we have seen that post too so we have changed the pinned comment on our video to relay this information and actually you can use an NCLEX-RN result that you have within 10 years.
      Also Charles, do what is best for you. If you think the OBA is not good for you and your circumstances then best wishes to whatever path you choose. Thanks again for watching our video and for the information.

    Hi JC & Loraine.
    I am South African trained RN. I used the Self check service on APHRA website and fall under IQNM's in Stream B. I wanted to ask you guys what this exactly mean since I didn't continue further with the process. It is a little confusing. I tried to find you guys on Instagram or perhaps an email address where I could sent all my questions or concerns about the process to.
    Hope you could explain it in a more simple way. It would be appreciated.
    Thanks for making videos about the process and helping other internationally qualified nurses.
    Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Nclex is a exam you would normally take if you wanted to go to United States as a nurse. How come u have to take it for Australia? So upsetting. I did alot of research about nclex..and its a vry hard exam. Do you know if its the same exam you take for USA?

The NCLEX solutions guide by Mr Charles Foden is the key to success in the NCLEX exams. I studied Uworld and Kaplan and Rachel. But none was as helpful in passing the NCLEX exams. I will recommend anyone to Mr Charles Foden who needs to pass the NCLEX. I passed with 75 questions after failing 5 times. I did it so can you. Hi guys, I just have a few questions:
    1. Since one of the requirements is Nclex, can I do it before online self check? What if I already passed the Nclex before?
    2. How long is the validity of OBA referral?
    Thank you for all the information! Very useful!

    • @jcandloraine
      @jcandloraine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome! Happy to help 😊
      If you haven't done the NCLEX before, you need to get authorisation from AHPRA to sit the test. If you have done the NCLEX for US, you can use that as long as you acquired the results within the last 10 years.
      We are not sure on how long the OBA referral is valid for. We will include this question when we ask AHPRA.

    hi thanks for this detailed info, how long do you think it will take to finish oba?

    • @jcandloraine
      @jcandloraine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OBA will officially start on March 2020. As of now there is no definite answer to how long the OBA process takes but when we find out more and hopefully we can talk to some people who have gone through the OBA then we can probably answer your question but right now since OBA has not officially started there is no way to say for certain. AHPRA does say "IQNMs (Internationally Qualified Nurses and Midwives) undertaking the OBA must pass each assessment stage before undertaking the next. The time taken to complete the OBA is dependent on how quickly the IQNM can progress through the assessments." So in short it depends on the person going through the OBA on how long they will be able to finish it. We hope this helps.

    Hello JC and Loraine! 😊 Is clinical experience required? Although nawatch ko sa vlog nyo na per AHPRA it is not limited in a hospital setting. Pero do you have friends po ba na nag qualify sa OBA kahit walang clinical exp? 😊 Just making sure po. Kasi my latest work experience is Health Info Management Professional. Technically pasok sya sa scope ng definition nila pero I am afraid na di pa rin qualified. Planning to start application po sa 2022. Thanks in advance for you response!

    Good day! I'm a nurse in US and planning to move to Australia around 2025. I got my USRN license 2017, that means i still qualify for that 10 year period for me to apply for the OBA. My question is can I start applying now and get registered in AHPRA but I will not work in Australia yet until 2025. It was mentioned in your blog some of the application can be done online and through our home country.
    So with this OBA, this is only effective 2020-2021? Then they go back to the old process which is the bridging program after that?

    • @jcandloraine
      @jcandloraine  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, since you're already an RN in the US, we don't think you even have to do the OBA.
      No, OBA will permanently replace the bridging program. Bridging programs will only run until 2021 for those people who have been given referral letters. At this stage, they have already stopped giving out referral letters for BP.

    Hi,
    I am a nurse working in India but not a primary applicant for 189/491 visa. My husband is applying the PR. I already have English score. But I am confused that I cannot find an option to do skill assessment with ANMAC without registration from APHRA ( for additional 10pts for partner qualification). After seeing the videos, I understood that, I have to go through registration with APHRA, do the adaptation or OBA then only MSA with ANMAC is possible, isn't it ?
    One more thing, right now it is OBA or old adaptation is active ?
    Thanks
    Liya

    Hi! Just a clarification po, from the fact sheet, it says “1. From 1 October 2019, IQNMs who have posted to Ahpra an application for registration (AGOS- 40) on or before 21 February 2020 and who hold relevant but not substantially equivalent qualifications (and who demonstrate they meet the mandatory registration standards) will have the choice to be referred to a bridging program or to the OBA, regardless of when the outcome of their application is decided.”
    Does this mean if I have posted my papers before February 21, (January 31, to be exact), will I still be referred to and have a choice between doing the bridging or OBA? Thanks :)

      Hi, they have stopped referring people for Bridging Program from February 21,2020. So if you haven't submitted your papers before that date, your only choice now is the OBA, Conversion or 2-year Bachelor course. If you think your experience is outdated, you should consider Conversion or the 2-year Bachelor course if you are thinking long term and less hassle visa-wise.
