    You just made my day!!! Outstyanding breakdown of the starting ciruits and step by step no les. Our next door neighbor needs a newer car from her 96 Camry. Wepre trying to get it to start consistently, but the only thing that works is repeatedly "toggling" the key back and forth rapidly and eventually it will start. Got a new battery in it. The click I hear seems to come from the passenger side of the engine compartment when I'm sitting in the drivers seat. We'll do the diagnostic and go from there.....and yes the srter relay is pretty stuborn. I wanna have a new one in my had before I pry the old one out.....lol. Film at 11.....

    Tap on blue relay til you get a new one. Also check the lever arm on front bottom of transmission that has cable on it from your gear shifter if it doesn't fully go into park it will not engage starter

    I have a 99 camry 2.3 liter automatic, the #22 fuse 10 amp keeps blowing as soon as you turn the key to the on position. It's located at the panel just to the left of the steering wheel. This 10 amp fuse is for the power windows, cruise control, charging, tach, speedo, coolant gauge, etc. If I unplug the the connection at the neutral safety switch, the fuse doesn't blow when in the on position but the car won't start. The car will start with the nss connected but it doesn't charge because the fuse is blown, then I'm running on the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the video. Had to replace my alternator and the positive post worked itself loose because my engine mount is rotted and the sporadic power from the loose alternator I think damaged my fuze because now I have to jump the car to start. When I turn the car off I get zero power to the car but when it is running everything works fine but my power windows make a high pitch sounds when using them. Probably going to replace all my fuzes and see if that helps.

    Hi, Can you tell which fuses control the little night lights on the fan and the direction of air control please.

    I like the methodical walk-thru w the explanations on the way. I haven't wrenched professionally since the l8 80's & most everyone would send me the electrical repair jobs. I didn't know it back then (not till about age 50) but I was eventually diagnosed w ADHD & maybe the sheer puzzle-likeness of wiring kept my focus... albeit looking back it was by God's mercy & grace I got cars bacl 2gether in 1 pc... w only a few xtra parts... & working too!
    🤨🧐🤔😮🙄😳🤯
    😁
    Anyways as my boss always sed, keep it simple. Start w the simple stuff, obvious, logically, etc. He had to keep reminding me bc I had a tendency to overthink.
    Ask customers questions, like did they do any work on their car. My boss had 1 guy w starting problems. Turned out the guy installed a radio & wired it bkwds... incl the hit & ground. I 4fet the details but bottom line was he was lucky he didn't burn his car up.
    Anyways nuff sed. Good little clip.

    Hate to bug you but if i have 12v at the plug at the starter when key is turned then starters def bad, right? just got done putting new one in but i'm guessing it's bad too.

    • @LehewTech
      @LehewTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The starter has two connections. The bigger cable coming from the battery will always have 12v. The smaller connection should receive 12v when starting the engine. Starters can be tested at a parts store like Advance Auto.

  • @resolute7627

    this concerns turning off AND Re-setting to OFF the factory Alarm & Starting the Engine of a 1999 Camry LE
    after thinking (initiated by a Toyota dealer) that my problem was result of a Low Battery,
    the battery tested good. the battery was removed/un-hooked from both terminals) for as it turned out, over an hour)
    as I checked many fuses.(all were good) & after the hour) put battery back in . . . same problem alarm goes off.,
    car will not start.
    So I sat in the car for a moment and after 30 seconds or so the alarm stopped & then I remembered someone said
    1.(with door closed,
    2. foot on brake,
    3 turn key to where the transmission is able to be put in the Neutral position,
    4 push & HOLD the red alarm button (mounted in dash to left of steering wheel)
    and HOLD IN Depressed for 10-15 seconds.
    THEN the engine started.
    I hope this will work for you. But in my case the alarm button was a definite factor.
    (which the glovebox manual did not mention) AT ALL)
    And the Alarm stayed off afterwards & did not re-activate. It WAS off previously and had not been an issue.
    But I think the car sitting 4 days where the night temperature got down to 15-20 F was a factor in play.
    Because nothing else had changed.
    Note (I had tried everything the glovebox manual said to try in order to solve my problem to no avail)

    I need your help. Most of the times my car starts normally, but once in a while, once in about 5 times, the stater is spinning and mashing a slippery noise and it doesn’t engage, And then when I try again, one or two times, it works! I have tried different starters, and they all do the same thing, and then I have ruled out the stater as a problem and I now suspect something else like a relay, the ignition switch or other, causing the starter not receiving enough power maybe once in a while to deploy completely the pignon gear of the bendix to engage the big gear by the flywheel to crank the motor properly. Can that starter slipping and slipping turning noise be caused by not enough power getting it, making it turn but not fast enough to push the pinion gear completely out once in a while and therefore not engaging? But if it was the cause, why would it engage the next time or second next time? I have ran out of explanations, causes, reasons and ways to fix it, please somebody, help me out, thanks so much!

    • @LehewTech
      @LehewTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Messed up teeth on the flywheel can cause this. A bad cable to the starter could cause this as well. I have also seen multiple remanufactured starters exhibit this exact problem.

    If you're concerned about the theft of your car, because you live in an insane liberal city like I do, removing your starter relay and taking it with you is an effective layer of protection. Just don't misplace your relay.
