Thank you so much, I and my husband actually thought crawling is dirty and wanted him to skip it and use a walker instead, then my mom sent me the link to this video. Thank you so much dear 👏
It was a very interesting video. If I may suggest, you should record your video in a orofessiobal set up, even against a pkain white wall and in a professional attire. You are giving a very useful advices but the brain cannot avoid to think you are an amatour, a stay at home mum that simply shares her experience when you are doing much more. I think it will help you gain visibility that you deserve 😊
Here's the thing. My lecturer gave us this 'homework' about the connection between crawling and speech ability (and/or cognition, excuse my language i hope you understand). Found this video and it's really helpful. Thank you.
My both children did not crowl. Oldest did manage to get out of her bed thou... clibming. So strenght of her hands was alright. It was about 8 month. What she did do - she was climbing everything..moving aroud the house holding to everything
Just asked my mom how long I was crawling before I started walking and her only secure response was “I know you started walking pretty early 👀” been looking into natural movement and the importance of crawling from a mobility aspect. Thanks for the video 🙏🏼💪🏻
Thank you for the video. Our oldest skipped crawling and he has some trouble with coordination and retained reflexes. Do you have any tips or tricks on what to do for older kids (4+) that skipped crawling?
Crawling was recently removed from the milestone charts provided by the CDC and APA. My autistic son only scooted using one arm as a way to propel himself. He is 9 and still can't write well.
Very interesting! My 2nd baby is crawling well and trying to pull up and walk at almost 9 months. My first crawled a little and then just scooted around on his bottom till he was 18 months. Is it important that they crawl BEFORE walking? What can I do with my first now to work on his motor skills? He is smart but does sometimes show some spacial and fine motor challenges, but he is only 3…
My baby is 6 months and pulling up to stand on his play gym. It's now all he wants to do. He's a heavy boy and hates tummy time because he can't lift his tummy up. Should I stop him pulling to stand? Thanks so much!
Thank you for your informative video. I have a 17-month-old toddler. She went from tummy time to pulling herself to sitting position to scooting on her bottom with the assistance of her right hand (primarily) to walking. She didn't crawl at all. Is it too late to teach her how to crawl so that she can build those muscles and coordination you mentioned in your video? If not, do you have tips on how to teach her to crawl?
HI! Thank you so much for your feedback! It is absolutely not too late to teach crawling, it just may take some creativity! Since she is already an efficient walker, you will need to think about ways to motivate her to want to work on something that is slower and more difficult. One place to start is putting weight through her hands by rocking forward over a ball or over your legs while playing a game or singing a song. The idea is to get her body weight over her hands. You could encourage crawling through play tunnels, over cushions to get to preferred toys, under a chair or under your legs, pretending to be puppies and kitties... If you notice she is having a hard time with the reciprocal movements of both sides of her body, seems more "tight" on one side, or can't quite grasp the pattern of movement it may be helpful to see an OT or a PT. If you are in the US, you could ask for a free evaluation through early intervention and they will come to your home! Hope this is helpful!
@@ottimewithcasey9891 Thank you for your input. I've been trying to encourage her to crawl and the times that she does her mobility appears to be fine. When she does crawl it is only for a few strides. Then she's up and walking because she is an efficient walker. I guess my question now is how long do I keep this up for? Do I wait until she can crawl for XX minutes or XX distance to deem her a proficient crawler?
@@wainiechan9980 Hi! I'm so glad to hear she has the motor planning figured out. It definitely is hard to get kids to crawl once they are walking well, but fun obstacle courses and playing on couch cushions or the bed can be resistive and build strength and weight bearing! I would not worry about a specific amount of time at this point. Playing at the playground (often times there are tunnels to go through) and climbing are also great ways to encourage weight bearing. The weight bearing (holding body weight through the hands) is what builds the muscles and arches, and crawling is just one way to do that. Hope that helps!
Almost four months old. He loves tummy time, loves to kick his feet to get somewhere but drags his face lol he does lift is head and bear his weight, he just hasn't figured out the moving the arms as well 😅
That sounds totally appropriate for his age! Keep working on tummy time and he will be rolling and army crawling and then up on hands and knees in no time!
Very informative video. My baby started army crawling at 7 months but using only one leg to push himself. He has injury to his right side of the brain but has been developing really well and he is a very happy baby. He is 8 months and really likes to stand up. Should we encourage this strange crawling with one leg?
Hi! Knowing that he has that injury and he is preferring one side, I would definitely recommend working with a physical therapist! The largest reason would be to get tips on making sure he is using the right patterns and developing strength as equally as he can on both sides. It is easier to learn something correctly the first time than it is to “unlearn”. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps!!!
My baby is almost 8 months and doesnt want to crawl, he always hated tummy time and now he just rolls over when I put him in his tummy. He loves standing and walking with assistance. What can I do to get him to crawl? Thank you!
I’m so sorry I’m not sure how I missed this comment!! That’s great he is rolling when he is in his tummy! A great way to encourage crawling is to start to put toys just out of their reach. When they are laying on the floor start putting things off to the side and then waiting to see if they go get it. They generally start by pulling with their arms and then will usually army crawl. You can also practice being in the hands and knees position over your leg or helping them get to that position and gently rocking back and forth. It may be hard to watch them try and struggle to move around at first but they need to have the space to move and try so put those favorite toys just out of reach and let them go reach and start to pull towards them!!
Just to add on... my baby is 8 months and is crawling in reverse, (so cute though) 😅 is that okay? Should we continue with tummy time and he'll figure it out crawling forward?
Thank you so much, I and my husband actually thought crawling is dirty and wanted him to skip it and use a walker instead, then my mom sent me the link to this video. Thank you so much dear 👏
Thanks for comment! Glad it was helpful!!
i guess I am quite randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
@Austin Taylor I watch on Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Danny Joe yea, have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :)
@Danny Joe thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it !!
Thank you.

So what if they crawl in a less traditional way? Like the frog crawl one leg out and one under the body?
Crawling was recently removed from the milestone charts provided by the CDC and APA.
My autistic son only scooted using one arm as a way to propel himself. He is 9 and still can't write well.
The fact that removed crawling is pretty scary. So much brain development is happening during crawling.
Is that correlated
What age can they start crawling? Can they crawl by birth?

You can actually go back to crawling. Look into a NeuroDevelopmental Movement program 😊

This is pretty common when they are first figuring out how to move. Give it time and entice him with toys in front of him!
