Why is there so many burning memories get the fire extinguisher
Oh god the fire
AAH FIRE blasts water on fires with a hose
we don’t have many days to extinguish the fire c’mon guys
... Fire? Whats that? Should I be worried?
@@Memerath yeah just go back benjamin
People dont get what dementia is. They just say "Imagine one day you wake up and don't remember your family" Thats not it. At first you just mildly forget the names of people you love. It doesn't matter, you associate it with old age and you can still remember who they are. You then begin to forget their names more than you remember. You then begin to forget ABOUT them. You forget what grade they were in school, how old they are, but you may still remember THEM. After this point, it becomes a huge haze for them. They don't just wake up and forget everything. That's the scariest part.
That haze is the worst/best part I'd imagine, because I've always said I'd kill myself before succumbing to dementia, but by the time the haze set in and I _would_ have killed myself it'd be too late bc I'd've lost self awareness. The "forgetting details about people" stage is really the last point to catch that shit and go easy isn't it?
And then they mix the details about them
I'd honestly rather kill myself then have to live through dementia. The moment I hear I have dementia I'll say my goodbyes
Many dementia patients confuse their kids with their siblings and stuff. They remember love; they dont remember when exactly they loved this person, they get misplaced in time
Damn, so it must be hurtful for your family knowing your slowly straying your mind away from them.
I remember when my grandfather was bedridden from his alzheimers. He was gonna die in less than 3 days and grandma let me facetime him so i could say i love you one last time. I told him how much i loved him and he smiled for the first time since he was bedridden, and my voice was the last thing he smiled at before he died.
Damn, that's actually heartbreaking...
That right there’ll give you heartaches.
I hope the moment atleast filled you with a bit of joy before his passing. I hope the best for you.
Damn, that hurts. I hope your grandpa stays happy in heaven.
RIP
I love how it represents people with dementia, who listen to the original version but their disease makes it distort and change
si, es increible. The care taker hizo un trabajo hermoso
@@pedrofile2electricboogaloo58 It's Spanish
@@pedrofile2electricboogaloo58 their post says "Yes, it's incredible. The Caretaker did a wonderful job"
I'm sorry, but I think you are missing the point. The songs represent memories, and the dementia slowly distort and entangle the different elements of the songs, as dementia does with normal memories. The 'Heartaches' probably represent the partner of the dementia victim, which would be logical because it is the most repeated song in this album.
So dementia is not some filter that distorts music, but more the degredation of the brain and the inablity to correctly remember memories, and a whole lot of other symptoms of course.
However I do agree that it is a masterpiece, although I do not 'love it how' it represents dementia.
@@kimilsung8010 well i think not beacuse im saying that our víctim that has dementia distort the music, AND the music are Like the memories, so going to that lógic im saying that the victim has a memorie and keep distorting It.
I like how their dementia is represented by the song titles changing into renditions of what they were. For example, heartaches and it's just a burning memory turn into burning despair does ache and so on
I didn’t even freaking realize that
What else that’s great about the name(just a burning memory) is that since it’s a line from the original song, it’s like they can’t remember much of the song, so they just took a part they do remember and named it that
@@roux6715 Burning memory?-
The song heartaches has a part where it says "I can't believe it's just a burning memory"
I forgot liking this comment 💀
i respect and fear anyone who can sift through the post awareness stages and pick actual samples out of it
Honestly, same.
If they can somehow dredge through hours of 2 channels of noise to find these samples then they are a step ahead towards conquering dementia
I used to agree, but after listening to it enough times the true horror of it is lessened, you mostly just listen for samples in the white noise
Someone feels proud hearing "Heartaches" in later stages and here you are demanding to know WHOSE in each part.
Man, a couple years later and people have gotten way more extreme than this video.
@@tails183I love these videos. I’m tryna find more of them. Recommend any?
Dude said
“How much quality you want”

Imagine that you Once Heard these songs and liked it, And forgot about it, Then you listen to everywhere at the end of time, a album about Dementia, and realize something familiar with the songs but you don't remember, That would be really scary.
Oh god
That's literally me with every album someone shows me.
It fucking sucks never being able to recall anything yet knowing a lot of what comes next and swearing you heard it somewhere, but unable to verify it
It would be more hurtful if you recognized the songs pkaying, but alter on PA stages it feel akwardly familiar, leaving you dazed.
Thing is, that actually happened with me a bit. There's an orchestral suite used as a sample in the album, specifically the Grand Canyon Suite. Uses Painted Desert, Sunrise, and Sunset. I know I've heard these songs at least partially before, but didn't realize it until I was looking up samples...
But, it happens. Especially when you listen to a lot of music!
the real dementia was inside us all along
A1: Very faithful to the description of the stage. It’s nostalgic. Slightly distorted but overall still positive.
C3: Noticeably sadder. The notes drag. The pitch shifts down an octave. It’s tired and malnourished. Not cheerful at all.
C4: Anxiety, borderline fear. The melody is dominated by a rising tension in the background . The distortion is more severe with sudden echoing. The music becomes confused but maintains its form.
F4: A constant stream of confused, jumbled melancholy. The music jumps and stalls; the connections have disintegrated considerably. The song is broken.
F5: Silence, ambient noise. White noise. Neither tranquil nor fearful.
F8: The melody is barely there. It’s dominated by a dull, calm ringing.
G1SB: The melody is irreversibly damaged. Snippets of the song remain in the confused garble, intertwined and entangled in noise. It’s active.
G1SE: Noticeably more fear and lower overall mood. Repetitive, snippets of the original song
H1SC: Low and calmer confusion. Sounds of a deep abyss with wild disconnected noise.
Almost nothing of the original song exists beyond this point
What about E1, E2?
By C4, you mean E2
Where the hell did C4 come out from.
funny little quirk, at around 8:55 seger ellis plays clearly in the right and bowlly in the left ear channels
really good ear! the amount of detail put into this project is insane, and even crazier is the amount of work people will do to uncover funny little quirks like these. you know you've done something monumental when people pour hours into finding all the little hidden secrets
Almost all of stage 4 of not all has 2 songs playing at the same time 1 on the right channel and 1 on the left channel.

The effort and care Kirby put into the 'aural storytelling' of these albums is what's by far the most lacking thing in the 'Caretaker-like' fan albums. It's more than 'old songs', it's 'memories as old songs and how they break down'.

As I listened to EATEOT, every time this song replayed it made me think of my great grandmother, especially the Stage 5 and 6 repetitions. I never met her, and my mom was very young when she got sick, but my mom's told me about her Alzheimer's. Apparently near the end, my great grandmother always thought my mom was my grandmother. She still _knew_ she had a daughter, but couldn't recognise her actual daughter as such, she thought her granddaughter was her daughter, because her memories had degraded so much that she could only vaguely remember her daughter as the concept of a child. But even at the very end, she still remembered that she had a daughter.
That's the sort of thing I think the repetition of this song, more and more broken each time, represents. A child or a spouse, hell maybe even a pet or a job (I've seen all of these in dementia patients), something that is such an innate part of your person that they're still part of you even after you've forgotten everything else, even when you can't really remember _them_ anymore - just what part of you they became. The final star to burn out when your universe ends.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Holy shit, this comment brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing, OP. This is beautiful.
beautifully written
I love how you can clearly hear it in Stage 5, but it's so distorted you can't recognize it
How the hell does a man sit listening to a 6 hour song just to get all the referances to ONE song.
It's a set of 6 different albums, so I imagine it's easier if you break it into chunks and listen to one at a time

the end of the album is possible that it's a heart attack
This song feels like Everywhere at the End of Time’s theme song showing the stages of dementia and how it deteriorates the mind. It’s the song that always stood out to me, and funny enough there’s actually 7 stages to dementia so this fits perfectly. Well done. 👏
This still works because stage 1 of dementia is nothing.
Yeah there’s 7 stages but the first stage is before the dementia causes any symptoms, so it’d be pretty hard to make an album like that, so it’d make sense to start where the symptoms begin.
you mean 7 stages of alzheimers. Dementia is a umbrella term for diseases that slowly kills neurons in the brain. Alzheimers happens to be the most common form of dementia.
@@ortherner Yes. Thanks for clarifying
I’m struggling with memory issues due to events and things that happened to me and my family , flashbacks , stress and dissociation etc etc , this song resonates with me as a lot of things feel like a dream , a burning memory
hope you get better
@salemmidnight1785 I feel the same oddly. The notes that I've heard in E.A.T.E.O.T's Burning Memory hit hard and deep. It crumples me within because I listened to it so much.
WTF, I never processed C3 in G1SB despite it being the most obvious. Great work on this one.
Yea dude, when I first heard that I was fuckin shook. It's there. It's still there, holding on by a thread as you hear just the first few notes. It's haunting.
It sounded familiar to me, i heard guy lombardos version too before knowing eateot, it was so fucking scary feeling familiar but cant recall those snippets of music...
its insane how you can clearly make out heartaches at 8:54
Yeah I think it’s because it’s still the first stage of post-awareness

listening to everywhere at the end of time when you've heard it a few times before is like rewatching a film after learning all the mistakes and easter eggs. you can sort of listen to it and think "hey, there's heartaches again!" during the post-awareness stages. i find it really interesting
The scariest part of dementia has to be near the end. through the haze that has replaced your mind, you suddenly start to remember again. all the fun stuff you lived through and you finally remember your favorite song in full. blissful happiness before the end. terminal lucidity.
but it's happy to know that my grandmother did remember me at least a little the last I saw her.

So my theory was right! At first I thought each song that played in the first stage was heartaches and then maybe different songs by Al Bowlly But I listened to thw album again and realized that The people who have dementia can only remember ONE song So it is Heartaches constantly repeating just slowly getting messed up until you can't even recognize it anymore
What?
@@superguy9834 dementia patients remember music the most. (Music, the power of mind!) Likely their fav music.
So thats heartaches
It's sad how the the notes of the song not only get smaller, but less recognizable...
how did some people even recognise some of the post-awareness samples? i could hear a bit of "The Prettiest Little Song Of All" in M1SC and what _might_ be some garbled instrumental from Heartaches, but that was about it. i'm impressed actually! that's some incredible musical ear work going on there.
Heart attacks
I wanna be honest when I first discovered The Caretaker, I thought it was JUST MUSIC.
But I now know there's a meaning to the album. "Its Just A Burning Memory" and the dementia stuff..
Man.. :(
But this song will always be a favorite and be easily recognized when I hear it.
i think stage 3 is when it stops sounding like heartaches.
For me its when it stops being an love song and it becomes an actual heartache for the patient and its family.
Yep. Early stage 3 still sounds like it, but starting with F4...nah
For some reason, I had a lot of trouble deciphering the stage 5 versions but the one in stage 6 I was able to faintly hear in the distant background. Mainly due to there being less chaotic noises in the background obstructing it.
i really like how slowly the amount of time each sample gets is shorter and shorter as the experience goes on, i didnt notice that in the original but to me its a lot like that feeling where you can think of snippets of a song but you cant quite remember in what order or it just keeps repeating in your own head, its a really nice touch
12:32 it’s like the first note of A1
the name “it’s just a burning memory” works really well for stage 1, because out of context from the original lyrics, it’s as if the patient forgot something and thought nothing much of it
Stage 6 sounds like a combination of ocean noises and moving furniture around. Stage 4 also sounds pretty trippy.

Al Bowlly: 3 songs
Guy Lombardo: 2 songs
Seger Elis: Idk there's a lot
al bowlly, seger ellis and guy lombardo:
the great statue is built. the amazing things this great figure did will be remembered from this statue. hopefully nothing bad happens...
A1:
decades later, someone rediscovers the statue in an underground place. the statue looks familiar, so they bring it back to the surface to show people what they have found.
C3:
during that person's adventure back to the surface, the statue begins to lose some details, but overall still looks human.
E2:
the person realizes that the statue is beginning to break. they try to find the surface faster but it's no use. this piece of history might be lost forever.
F4:
the statue is beginning to crack, it's limbs are starting to fall apart. the person didn't bring any glue to put it back together.
F5:
the person accidentally loses the statue. they must retreve it, but it's too dark.
F8:
they eventually recover the statue, but it's in an even worse condition.
G1:
the cave that person is in is starting to crumble, so they run. but as they run, pieces of the statue start flying away.
H1:
the limbs of the statue are gone. all that's left is the torso, head and face.
K1, L1 and M1:
those parts eventually start falling apart too.
O1:
the person has finally reached the surface, but when they looked at the statue's condition, all that was left was remnants of what once was.
the statue is gone.
Indiana Jones adventure bruh
@yigit1178
yeah! it had history attached to it, *just like the memories...*
This gave me a whole new perspective. I didn’t realise that “it’s just a burning memory” was already quite different and “deteriorated” compared to the actual song
My gradad died from Alz or Dementia (I cant remember which) when i was 9. It was really sad, and never knew my grandad that much. Its sad that one of my family members died from this illness, and yet i barely knew them.
