    4:57 2008-2011 R35 come stock under 500bhp....that changed in 2012. 5:02 who roll races with a GTR R35, STI, Evo? Their all wheel drive cars...the GTR R35 is 98/2% power split but that changes to 50/50 if it looses traction. 10:00 Nissan wants $23, 000 to replace the transmission in my GTR R35...installing a purpose built race trans for cheaper instead. 10:50 Keep in mind, the motor is in front of you and the trans/exhaust is behind you. Add that with stiffer suspension and you will notice some noise inside the vehicle. 12:05 changing lights on cars like this is fun, you have to remove the front bumper cover which is slightly fun on a GTR R35, much prefer the time I swapped lights on my WRX instead lol

    The Trans/Warrenty thing isn't a problem anymore past 2015 that needs squashed. But I get the stigma around it.
    Also, to explain why they don't repair the transmission over them replacing. Is because only the Takumi in Japan know how to build these transmissions and Nissan dealers don't want to sport the cost of learning these transmissions. Aside from the fact only certain dealers even have GT-R certified technicians. These technicians have to have been with Nissan for 20+ years and be ASE 1-8 certified as a master technician. Which isn't easy. GT-Rs aren't a big portion of maintenance repairs so it's financially not worth it at the dealer level. Transmissions get replaced and the old sent back to Japan. What's done from there is unknown.
    On the maintenance standpoint. The only part I've come across that's "Expensive" are brake pads and rotors. Everything else has been reasonably priced for what you are doing. 85$ engine oil changes with filter. 350$ transmission service. 150$ differential service etc. (Mind you, I did it all myself).
    Where it gets expensive, and I clearly understand why, is because of people have maintenance done for them at the dealer. Then yes, it's absolutely stupid expensive.
    If you get a GT-R. Learn how to do things yourself. This car is very easy to maintain and affordable.

    I think one con you could've added was that it didn't come with a manual transmission option.

    • @maperformance
      @maperformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that can be a pro and a con! In terms of it being a driver's car, it would be much more engaging as a manual and it would feel more like an updated R32/33/34. On the flip side, it would not be as mind-numbingly fast and be able to hold as much power.

    • @myroadtours6147
      @myroadtours6147 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maperformance I hear this same reply a lot when the subject comes on why there isn't a manual trans available for the R35. NASCARs only uses manual gear boxs and has roughly 750 HP running 200 MPH. They have been doing this for decades. F1 cars ran 700-1600 HP on manual transmissions before switching to automatics in 1996 and while running 200-260 MPH. I just don't see where the idea came from saying a manual trans can't handle a 480-560hp car doing 200 MPH? Having driven a NASCAR wide open on an offical NASCAR track, I can assure you, they are quick! I wonder if this has more to do with Japan moving away from Manual transmissions than it does with how much a power a manual gear box can handle. Example, I read an article about the new WRX and in that article it states that Subaru will no longer offer a WRX with a manual gear box in Japan...I believe they will still offer a manual with the STI only. You can get the new WRX with a manual gear box outside of Japan but the only reason for that is 40% of vehicles in Australia are manuals. Lets face it, manual transmissions are a dying art. But that is just my BS opinion on the subject. As someone who owns both a WRX and GTR, I will say, I love shifting gears but its sometimes nice to put it in drive and go....very very fast!

    • @erwinmonti5066
      @erwinmonti5066 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bellhousing noise is the fact that they put a steel bearing in an aluminum housing it starts to wear and then will start to vibrate vibration is the killer of engines a slight vibration in one area can affect the entire motor so whoever told you it was nothing to worry about has no clue what they're talking about I had mine redone I sent it down to ship trans in Massillon Ohio and John gave me a stage 3 race transmission and change my entire bellhousing with the new bearing that's in a steel sleeve So that problem is finished but if you've got an 09 or 10 better Get that bearing taken care it usually entails just doing a whole bell housing which really isn't much money but that will eliminate that problem forever..

    I’ll stick with a cheaper v8 and build the motor for the 140 k they want for a gtr now days while putting bus length on it even if it was FBO. The only gtrs you see pushing big power are billet blocked bored and stroked out with built trans on bigger turbos and a high octane fuel which will run you Trump money and still can’t beat a v8 with the same price build per dollar for hp considering you can build a nitro big block hemi for half the cost making 5000 hp. For what they are though they are nice car and do well for the street but let’s be real here you show up at a meet with a stock gtr and your getting gapped with 600hp. Unless it’s fbo E85 or more your not doing that much ass whippin. Car weights a lot as well so that’s a consideration. Roll racing is where this car shine most because of its low drag coefficient and higher reving TT engine. Not to disrespect it I love the car and if it were cheaper I would buy one but at the end of the day it all comes down to money and hp versus purpose. Honestly if I had the money I would probably buy a viper acr and twin turbo that on nitrous before buying a gtr.

      you are tripping..i bought my GTR 2009 for 30k , spent 75k on it so total adds up to 105k i dare anyone to build a car for around 100k including the car and have over 1300whp and doesnt need a prepped road to hook and not drift on regular roads with that much power. btw, i still have my A/C working and the car is reliable than most american cars i've seen.

  • @OrlandoOsuna

    the preassure sensor fix is not 15-20k. The clip that you posted from the "20k Issue" video literally shows you how he fixed the car for about 2k including replacing the bellhousing (1k, not a transmission issue), tbs clips (300 dollar fix, 45 if you do it) and preassure sensors (600 dollars). Fking internet people just repeat shit without any idea of what theyre talking about.

    I was considering a new 2024 GTR, I am disappointed for the amount of money they are asking basically there is no power increase or serious body and interior upgrades. Also the tranny is not built bullet proof and good for no more than 625lbs of torque which is a huge expense to modify or rebuild. I will hold off for now till Nissan decides to address these issues, which is by today’s standard quite low. Come on Nissan gives us some more power and tranny upgrade. And no I am not spending an extra 100k for the Nismo with basically some extra carbon fiber and measly 35 extra ponies.
