That part about taking it to the nissan dealership where they can run a diagnostic on the ecu and tcm is amazing. Wish I could hit like twice for this info.

Might as well have bought a new one. You're going to spend the difference between a 2019 and 2016 just on maintenance alone. I've seen other videos claim it's $12k/yr just to operate a GT-R and keep it maintained properly. That's approaching Bugatti maintenance prices.
TasteMyStinkhole if you get warranties from the dealership when buying it will usually cover maintenance with a very low deductible. My nissan offers free fluid changes , and 100,000 mile warranty you can buy.
@@TasteMyStinkholeAndLikeIt Maybe, if you cant change oil yourself. I tend to do all maintenance I reasonably can myself. But I'm got used to working on cars in the 80's and on, so yeah, they were simpler then. I bought a 2009 GTR with 75k Miles and it was well cared for. One of the owners used it for lots of freeway driving. She wanted a GTR for her travels. She had lots of work done to it with all the maintenance logs. The steering column was one of them. You could own one. I think if the GTR-34 get's legalized in the US, all other GTR prices will drop. Then as more years go by, mialege goes up, mods, paint deterioration, etc, the cars price will drop even further and you could probably have one for $25,000 used of course. And by then the aftermarket will have solutions to fix all the problems and make it bulletproof reliable.

Did you research the fact that Car and Driver's lighting lap shows ZERO performance increase on the track between 2012 and 2017 models they tested. lol. Nissan has been consistently raping customers with higher and higher prices while giving nothing in the way of better performance. I love that. I have watched too many of those "how much does it cost to own a GT-R" videos. If you stick with only certified Nissan GTR techs, and follow their maintenance schedule, and use only Nissan certified parts, you should be right around 12 thousand a year in maintenance. If you go to your neighborhood jack of all trades mechanic who works on cars for a side income, and you buy aftermarket parts, you can save a decent chunk of change. I have no idea what it costs to maintain a Ferrari, but changing a set of tires on a Bugatti costs $25,000 for the tires alone. It's pretty insane what it costs to maintain a Bugatti
@@TasteMyStinkholeAndLikeIt so far from the truth. Maintenance schedule is typically $200 dollars for an oil change at the dealership every 4 to 5000 miles. Fluids on 09s, the big ones are transmission/differentials every 18k mile and it is incredibly easy to do. Typical cost at the dealer is around 4 to 500 bucks if you supply the fluids. Average cost - I would say is somewhere around $2000 to $3000 a year if you're following the book at the dealership. My car is out of warranty and has around 83k miles and I've owned it for over a very, very long time. I recently did the spark-plugs, coolant flush, diff, transfer case, transmission, engine, brake, power steering oil, -- basically all fluids in car as well as the serpentine belt and an alignment - it ran me only $1900 parts and labor at a reputable performance shop. If you're buying a car like this - you should be more than capable of being able to afford the maintenance of it. Lastly, Bugatti tires don't cost $25,000. $25,000 is the cost of the annual service of the car. Tires for the car cost around $30,000+ and the tires can only be changed up to 3 times on the same set of rims before you need to get an entire new set of rims from Bugatti --which cost even more :(

my JDM 08 is going 10 years, had those led issues in the cluster, 2 MFD's and dash cracking early years. Running LC5 and upgraded clips in the valve body to DBA specs. Now its running fine without any issues, do and oil change every 3k km due to the heat ( mildly modded stage 1.5) and transmisssion every 20k km, still feels solid and probably would last a long time.
i agree that JDM 12 or USDM 13s are the best, after all its was the last year kazutoshi mizuno san had a hand in its development before retiring from nissan. In an interview, he did mention that it was probably the gtr he made out to build.

When I was 18 I bought a Subaru Legacy B4 then sold it when i turned 20 and bought an Impreza GC8 STi and now im 22 I sold it and bought an R34, but It's not the expensive GT-R version but a RWD GT-Turbo, I bought the car in Japanese action site for 15k and import fees of 1k from Japan to Vancouver and I am almost close in getting my dream of making this car into a GT-R. Now I am just saving up so I can afford to buy an RB26 and all the parts to turn this baby into a monster. Just do your job and do what he said, but for my need I didn't need to use financing. good video ,pretty much spot on when you said ''80-100k ' is the gtr price mark for what it offers ,I had 2010 and 2015 and paid around 70k for both at the time and can't really justify the gtr costing more than 100k when new .As much as I love the car, the whole R35 platform is getting outdated fast and nissan has to step up and release some r36 info asap
Good info. I'm in the market for a performance car/track car, and the GTR is on my list along with Z06. The Corvette is definitely winning the performance/$$$ battle, largely due to availability and also performance/maintenance potential.

Nice video. I had a choice between a 2014 GTR and 2014 CLS63S AMG and went with the AMG. Still in love with both cars.
what a great guide to purchasing a pre-owned GTR! amazing work! beautiful video!!
shottyshot Thanks!
I am interested in buying 1 but the prob is don't have money for lunch even but still I am watching the video
I will still buy a GTR and if I have problems I’ll send it to you 😎
I didn't watch this before i bought mine but looks like i went with the right choice :) Good video though!
What year did u get
Great video . GTR 2017+ till 2020 never changed ? I mean interior/exterior?
waiting to be delivered on monday!! 2016 premium edition😍 Can't wait to add another to my collection of diecasts!
looking at a 2013 today :D just refreshed over this vid again :)
my JDM 08 is going 10 years, had those led issues in the cluster, 2 MFD's and dash cracking early years. Running LC5 and upgraded clips in the valve body to DBA specs. Now its running fine without any issues, do and oil change every 3k km due to the heat ( mildly modded stage 1.5) and transmisssion every 20k km, still feels solid and probably would last a long time.
Good to hear your experience.
i agree that JDM 12 or USDM 13s are the best, after all its was the last year kazutoshi mizuno san had a hand in its development before retiring from nissan. In an interview, he did mention that it was probably the gtr he made out to build.
We love our 2017 GTR Premium! Once we get back from Okinawa (2022), I’m looking to buy another GTR or possibly an Audi R8. But LOVE the GTR! Great video! Just became a sub!
I instantly hit the subscribe button after that useful info. Looking forward to your newer content in the future
Im going for a 2017 premium with 35k miles or less. You should make a checklist for people to go through. That would be awwwesome
Wow! Thanks man. I can see you’ve done your homework. Definitely gives me soot to consider WHEN I buy my GTR. Those repairs seem awefully steep.... 😬😬😬. But again like you said it comes with the territory. Thanks again man for the information. Very helpful
Hey just do the things he said and that dream of your could be around that corner. Cheers on your dreams.
If your interested In what I do for a living, I am still in university, I am a mechanical engineer, I just earn 20CAD an hour in a Toyota servicing department.
Great video... I bought a 2013 GT-R before I saw your video.
Apparently I did everything right with the year of manufacture.
Do you think car prices will continue to rise in the future?
Greetings from Switzerland
This makes me want to buy a GTR
🤣😂🤣
Great video! Was not sure what year to get, obviously older is cheaper. Thinking 2013-2014 is where I want to be.
FYI, turning the wheel to see inside tire wear has nothing to do with camber, but toe.
Thinking about buying a GTR since i just turned 21 and finished school , but im scared about probelms and i kinda just wanna build my n54 335i but a gtr is my dream car
Just got a career and started saving up for one. I am really looking for a 2012 and up! Hope to join yall soon!
Congrats! Look forward to you joining the family.
good video ,pretty much spot on when you said ''80-100k ' is the gtr price mark for what it offers ,I had 2010 and 2015 and paid around 70k for both at the time and can't really justify the gtr costing more than 100k when new .As much as I love the car, the whole R35 platform is getting outdated fast and nissan has to step up and release some r36 info asap
Good info. I'm in the market for a performance car/track car, and the GTR is on my list along with Z06. The Corvette is definitely winning the performance/$$$ battle, largely due to availability and also performance/maintenance potential.
The price and frequency of routine maintance are, well, a stopper.
One of the best guide ever❤️
Even though I'm not going to buy😁
Yes, I'm in the market for one, very useful tips, I was a bit hazy on some issues, thanks for clarifying.
i love these cars and plan to get one eventually. glad to find a channel all about them
