I own my 09 for a year and 4 months. No issues! rock solid, Can't be more happy! Son is 11 years old and still fits! in the back! We always take the car out on the weekends!. I just hit 76k miles! I'm second owner and first 3000 GT-R's that were produced for US!? - I own one of them and I have certificate to prove it! :) as it came with the car! -> I'm thinking to switch from mobile oil to motul next year! I run oem oil for front and rear diff but my trans is build so I gotta use Motul . I say if anyone wanna get rid of the GTR because of space or having a baby, just buy yourself a used 4 door sedan, like honda civic, mazda 3, or toyota carolla. Not only you gonna save a bit on gas but you wont put that many miles on your car! which is huge, which means also you wont dump that much money into maintenance ! and you can keep your car for longer period of time. also the key to Keep GT-R without having issues is just keep it FBO and don't go nuts with mods of course :)
I’ve had my 09 for going on 12 years and your review is spot on for long term ownership. As for the family car aspect, it can do the job, but if you’re willing to sacrifice cornering for practicality I can tell you that my ‘19 RS3 is almost as fast with a stage 1 tune and is my favorite daily driver I’ve ever owned.
Great vid as always. Just completed 3yrs ownership on my EBA and must say your views reflect mine exactly, best car I've owned, and maintenance is cheap, however, I do use Litchfield for all my servicing requirements. My car is a garage queen tho, as winters in UK are crap, with roads salted on and off for upto 2 to 3 months. Don't have your issues with the child seat, as my youngest son is 27!! Lol, still keep up with the vids, and get yourself an EBA!! You wont regret it. Cheers.
Ooo, Litchfield, they make the suspension I want. As for the EBA I loke the interior, but like the DBA exterior. To be the best would be the 2017 nismo look. Get the EBA interior, but they get an upgraded look of the DBA exterior
Just made me a little more confident on owning my dream car in the future. Seeing alot of threads and comments on maintenance for this beast really kills the mood to buying one, but after watching this video i can't wait! Thank you for the info bro🤙🏽
Nice! Good vid. Currently have a 09 Mercedes cls63 amg and been itching to go to the next level. Wanted a Maserati GT/ or the LP gallardo, but for the speed, reliability and practicality of a GTR especially with having a baby, I think this is the one 👍
the trasmission requires replacing the 2 filters in it if you want to do it right. So no, it is not 300 dollars at all. I just did it myself and spent at least 500-600 bucks in parts alone
Great video. No issues for me for all those points. I have a wife who daily’s our kids in a Toyota sequoia that gets 12-14, and 8-9 when towing. We just put gas in it and go, I don’t even look anymore how much it is. I’m going to pull the trigger on an R35 soon, but it will strictly stay a weekend toy.
Where have you been all my life? Was looking for content that covered the r35 against the Supra and rx7 as I am in the market! Wanted to see how it compares as I’m looking for that perfect unicorn car. You said it was the best car you ever owned. Noted. Subscribed!
Agree with all your points! I am going to find it tough to find a better car, had mine for a year and a half and never get sick of it. I was also worried about the cost of maintenance but its just like any other car, and there are plenty of aftermarket shops here in Australia to take it too. I regret listening to the internet and not getting one sooner
Hey JD..nice video.. Yep.. I had to replace the timing chain as well. I took it to my normal GTR shop... what a nightmare.. they kept saying it was installed correctly, and it kept coding. After their 4th attempt they gave up and gave me most of my money back.. minus the cost of the parts. I took it took my local dealer.. who has a "great" gtr tech who said the chain was off by like 3 degrees.. or something like that. He also had to replace another part. Can't remember what that was at the moment. Definitely replacing the timing chain is something that i'd only trust with someone who really knows their GTR's!!
You're giving me hope. I like to hear that the R35 is the best car you've ever owed. My R34 was the best car I have ever owed but I really want an R35 and my wife is ok with it. I'm thinking in the next 3 or 4 years I will buy one. Do you know how many owners had your car? I keep seeing GTR's with 3 owners in like 5 years and I'm concerned about this cars high turnover rate, its weird.
I think I'm the 3rd or 4th owner of this GTR. However, it is not uncommon to see low mileage GTR with multiple owners. The reason for this is I'm the aboration of GTR owners in that I daily mine. Most people have it as a weekend toy. It's something they take to cars and coffee or Saturday cruise. This means that they own it, but a few thousand miles on it and then wonder what else is out there with a different flavor. Since it's just a toy they don't have to worry about practicality with whatever toy they currently have. Therfore, do not be concerned when you see low mileage, high owner cars. It's to be expected. On a side note, I'm considering and R34 since they are becoming legal. If your in the LA area I'll let you test drive mine if I can test drive yours
Depends on what you want out of it. They've made way to many of them for to long for it ever to be a collectable. It is a good daily driver with access to good power. Although, due to no major updates, most modern cars will out perform this car. However, most owners never use the full capacity of their cars, so that really shouldn't matter. As for buying new, I wouldn't. There's no upgrade to the base platform, so you can get the exact same car with around 30k to 60k miles at basically half the cost. My car is at 130k miles and has given me almost not mechanical issues at all
I can tell you slid into that spot at some point or another, can't tell if it's fresh but I can see the skidmark leading directly to your rear tire position, unless that's just some sort of weird coincidence of a defect in the tarmack, but its a perfect line across the white lines and even onto the white spot where your tire is sitting, and the line is in direct correlation to the point of tarmac contact of the tire. Nice move bro.
@@JDArcher I went through a “everyone wants a GTR” phase. Now that I’m out of it I’m taking a look back. I truly do love the GTR, Supra and Evo in my heart. So I quit acting like I didn’t to be cool and went back to my roots.
Will be doing it soon. I've got a set of serviceable fuel filters I want to put in also since Nissan forces you to buy the whole basket if you want new fuel filters

What’s the steering like in these cars? Steering feel is super important for a sports car.
