Notch wasn't clowned on, he was saying he was fascinated with seeing even an abomination like this because at the end of the day, this guy was a poor, swedish man making this game up on the spot. So for some company is spending over $100 million with big stars on a film like this is shocking for him. He is no longer responsible for the garbage Mojang/Microsoft/Warner Brothers pushes out but he's still shocked to see his work going that far, when he clearly didn't have any long-term plans beyond just getting the money to make more games when he started out.
One thing people don't think about is that Mojang always makes everything different. Dungeons was a completely different game, Earth was a different game and Legends was completely different too. Every project Mojang makes is completely different
The moie can be saved in 2 ways. But they both would be quite expensive for the company. 1: scrapping the live action movie and making it fully animated like in the trailers 2: making all the mobs look not blocky and more like a realistic depiction of them
@@Sandwich-5-sand you know what? i think the movie is getting way too overhated. what really should a movie be rated for are the lore and how the events and interactions are set. but no, they just want to massively hate on the movie just because the mobs look ugly by being blocky in real life. i'm sorry but this is how minecraft is suposed to be. about the differencies with the original game, mojang always made diferent minecraft games having different content or lore. we've seen that in minecraft dungeouns and minecraft legends, so why complaining about it? i think i've said enough. btw i think the cast is the only thing that wb could fix. or at least change their haircuts. for example making Jack Black having a haircut more similar to steve

It will end up like the Monster Hunter movie, except this will probably make them money

Didn't think anyone would care. My TH-cam analytics said people literally dropped off/left at Notch's introduction even though it was a quick 1 minute summary getting people up to date that he was working on a game, started a game company, is hiring people, and is overall more happy this past year, 30%-40% dropped off in that one minute so I cut it out, as advised in that video from that guy saying to cut out stuff that people just leave your videos for. I did that when we were at a couple thousand views at this video and you can see the view count now, it was a wise thing to do.
I do agree with Notch mainly as he's being cautiously optimistic and is clearly surprised his baby got this far. I hope there might be a good story to pull up the visuals (the visuals REALLY pull it down, sorry, they do, even a visual novel NEEDS half decent art. The live action just looks proper greenscreened in and animated parts just look like those "MINECRAFT IN REAL LIBE" videos). So yeah, a good story will pull it up to a mid movie.

well it's quite surprising considering how he talks about minecraft being dead and shit id bring up the fact that mojangsoft cut him off but that's just them being typical corporate roaches
He had a kid but he isn't involved with his original wife and kid, he sold Mojang after his divorce, his marriage only lasted months. I think he implied that they have tried to contact him to ask him for money and I believe he's implied he's paid his ex-wife a good amount of money and feels he isn't obligated to support them after likely giving him part of his bag when they parted. He was divorced before leaving Sweden and going to the U.S.
When I watched the Movie trailer for the first I liked it and thought "This looks quite interesting and impressive". This was before I looked into the comments and reviews and saw how much people dislike it. Notch is probably really proud that this random indie sandbox game he started creating in 2009 has become this worldwide popular franchise and is now getting a movie. Especially how his original ideas, like the creepers, the ghasts, Steve etc. made it into the movie, they also kept consistent with Notchs description of creepers as having a leaf-like texture.
He means it's different for him to play his own work than it is for some random person is to play his game. It's always going to be weird if a musical artist listens to their own music, because they can never witness their own concerts in the eyes of a regular person but only perform, if they really liked their own work.
It must feel super crazy to see the small little indie game you made as a side project become a full feature-length film, I can't even begin to imagine how Notch feels lmao
@@goldenninja9053 let WB this is only the teaser!! Remember how people thought FNAF was going to flop because of the teaser trailer but they ended up loving the film?
Glad to see people are actually talking about story mode in a much more positive light. The game really isn't as bad as people used to make it out to be, and also has some interesting history behind it as well. (mostly the first episode in particular.)
The creeper sounding like a pile of leaves makes a lot of sense, implies its skin is leaf-like or maybe paper since hes a walking TNT block. cool shit.

Accept it: the movie will be like Super Mario, mainly for children, and since they decided to make it live action it will have weird looking square mobs. The only thing that can maybe happen is "fix" some cgi that the public didn't like (the sheep for example), like what happened with Sonic.
what people can't accept is that it's fun because it's silly, people have these grandiose expectations of it being some sort of perfect story paralleling the lore of minecraft. i don't want an animated story mode style movie, because, well, story mode exists. a live-action telling of minecraft, a fucking pixel art game with caricaturised characters of unrealistic proportions, is something i wouldn't have come up with myself, and the fact that they were able to pull it off reasonably well is impressive. that one screenshot of the sheep going about is of course weird and i have seen people make improvements on it, but that's all it is, a screenshot, not the entire trailer. the sheep doesn't even look that bad when it isn't baaing. people keep talking about the llama too but i don't think even that's that bad. i'm sure that by the time the movie is released they will have changed it to suit people's feedback, just like with the sonic movie (i don't think the old sonic design was as dreadful as people made it out to be but yeah the new one looks better ig). the only other criticism i do have to make is how strong the backlighting on the green screen is, because it makes the lighting look bad. i've played minecraft and i do not care whatsoever about the story, probably because there isn't one lol. the only real objective of minecraft is to kill the ender dragon, and you can go about that in literally any way you want. and there isn't any real lore, besides what the community has come up with. i've noticed people criticise some of the other differences to actual minecraft, for example the form factor of the trees and the different items and crafting recipes. the thing is though that movie adaptations are rarely ever the same as what they're based on anyways, and of course it isn't going to be exactly like minecraft, especially considering that it's live action and there's a different plot so some changes are of course going to be made. another thing people are moaning about is of course jack black and his role as steve. only thing i agree with here is that he should at least change his haircut a bit instead of just roleplaying as himself. but like i said, there is no real lore or story in minecraft, and steve is literally just a couple of cubes and cuboids, he doesn't say anything or have any personality, so why should the actor matter lol? i'm not really a connoisseur of actors or films, but still, i just don't see the point here. to notch minecraft is a silly little sandbox game with no story or lore, and that's why he admires the movie, because it's silly. he takes it less harshly than everyone else because he doesn't see any story in minecraft that has to be reflected in the movie, he's just happy that his game is being represented in a movie. and i am too. i've known and played minecraft for most of my life by this point and it's nice that i can finally see what the movie that was supposed to come out 10 years ago is going to look like. i don't give a shit if it doesn't reflect how i envision the game, it's here and i'm okay with it.
Counter point: the Mario movie was, while not being some masterpiece of film, a love letter to the fans using an artistic medium that is very good at replicating the style of the (modern) Mario games. I also disagree with your point on Jack Black being Steve. If you have a popular character with a known design, whatever person you have playing should at least partially resemble them. Mario didn’t look like Chris Pratt, he looked like Mario. When you just pull in some famous actor to fill a roll, and they don’t even look partially like the character, it shows that you don’t care about the fans. If the movie was animated, you could justify Jack black being Steve. Steve is a blank state as far as how he is as a person or his motivations because it’s a sandbox, so any voice actor could work (and I do like Jack Black and think he’d work well in that scenario). But he isn’t a blank slate in appearance, we know exactly what he looks like. If you don’t want to be Steve when you play, you can change your skin, so there’s no reason for a character that is supposed to be Steve to not look like him. Another disagreement is on the movie being live action. I agree, the pixel and block like Minecraft being a live action movie is something I never could have thought of. It is also something I never would have thought of. Maybe if they were real people in real life but Minecraftized when they went through the portal it’d be good, but it doesn’t match. Maybe the actors could’ve just been animated like everything else? Because then, you would still have an art style different than story mode while keeping it believable enough. I know you admitted the green screening was poor, but the actors don’t even look like they’re there. I don’t know how much tweaking will fix that. Who Framed Roger Rabbit did it better decades ago. Just because something is bold and brash doesn’t mean that it also doesn’t also belong in the trash
5 devs make a game without communicating aaaah movie wait wait wait, i just looked and blud only got 12 likes and 110 views, that's messed up keep at it man and uuh this vid might lock in when minecraft movie trends
Ok, little bit of Uwe Boll lore. Before he made primarily horror movies, he made video game movies. All of which were massively hated on by critics. Uwe Boll would challenge the critics to boxing matches. The only decent game movie they made was the POSTAL movie, based off of the game series of the same name. And the creators of the Postal games knew his reputation, and knew there was no one better than him for a movie about Postal.
He really deep down sees the atrocities, but is also in awe that his little game from all those years ago, is finally up on the big screen. I can respect Notch just quietly dealing with this.
Everyone notch is giving the movie a chance so it's probably good if notch is going to watch it then we all should we should all give it a chance and quite hating.
My original video got over 100k views covering it, he is not returning to voxel games as I made it very clearly with the text put on screen, he's using voxel art but it won't be a survival game, just a roguelike dungeon crawler, he has a physical office, has hired employees, and is working hard on it, and he feels alive again.
I think that if this movie wasn't hyper realistic and instead it was just minecraft animation it would have been just some animation for me, not standing out. In other words - i like that whey made this movie with hyper realistic models and textures, but there is that problem where piglins and ghasts look like they were made from clay, and creeper, isn't creepy, but fluffy and soft instead.
Not, that shit just looks awful. Either go realistic on everything or nothing. They mixed it in the worst possible way. And the design of the animals overall is really just terrible
i've seen a close up view of the creeper, and apparently it's not fur but grass and leaves, like if it was trying to mimick the ground. Kinda like the idea, it reminds me of an old mod where creepers could change texture to look invisible to the player
I guess the ones who are making the movie is trying to pull out another "Into The Spider-Verse" kind of thing, being unique to the rest. I mean, understandable, ngl.

Honestly, I don't under the pressure being put on notch about the movie. It's his diddly darn game. He literally says himself he has a bias, considering somebody is making a movie for his game. Notch and the community aren't wrong, everyone has different perspectives on how the movie should've gone. But, I do kind of wish Notch was with the writing crew. He has a point when it comes to making a new story with his game, however I feel like they could've executed it better for the community.
Notch is the George Lucas of gaming.
Imagine being reasonable human being like notch in 2024 💀
THERE IS NO WAY YOU JUST CALLED NOTCH A REASONABLE HUMAN BEING 😭😭😭
He has constant Twitter meltdowns, called someone a feminist for disagreeing with him in a derogatory way, said “it’s okay to be white” which may seem harmless but the term is used by white supremacists. Also said there should be a straight pride month and anybody who disagrees should be shot, which he then half-heartedly apologized for, etc. (yes there are a lot more things)

“this is complete microsoft” got me dying😭😭
One thing people don't think about is that Mojang always makes everything different. Dungeons was a completely different game, Earth was a different game and Legends was completely different too. Every project Mojang makes is completely different
But has the same theme
@@gendiswkstudio8761 I don't care too much about the realistic visuals. I use shaders all the time
@@SnaxxHaxTVnice, i like shaders…
The moie can be saved in 2 ways. But they both would be quite expensive for the company.
1: scrapping the live action movie and making it fully animated like in the trailers
2: making all the mobs look not blocky and more like a realistic depiction of them
That still wouldn't really save the movie. It would look cool but thas about it.
@@AzureLikeSky thas why I said it would only look cool because the plot of the movie has been overdone so many times. Acting is the usual Marvel acting where the characters just throw jokes every thirty seconds and at everything that happens. Pacing is probably going to be terrible and not give the characters any writing value (though I doubt they would get that even if it was perfectly paced) the movie being animated or looking like mincraft wouldn't change anything, fans just say that because they don't understand what makes a movie acutally good. It will end up like the Monster Hunter movie, except this will probably make them money

If Notch is OK with then I'm OK with it
When I watched the Movie trailer for the first I liked it and thought "This looks quite interesting and impressive".
3:04 WHAT?! He's never played his own game?!!
He means it's different for him to play his own work than it is for some random person is to play his game. It's always going to be weird if a musical artist listens to their own music, because they can never witness their own concerts in the eyes of a regular person but only perform, if they really liked their own work.

@@WildLukah I'm with you on this one I like the Minecraft movie :)

Notch is back?!? Kind of?!?
My original video got over 100k views covering it, he is not returning to voxel games as I made it very clearly with the text put on screen, he's using voxel art but it won't be a survival game, just a roguelike dungeon crawler, he has a physical office, has hired employees, and is working hard on it, and he feels alive again.
That background gameplay looks like HYTALE 💀
I think that if this movie wasn't hyper realistic and instead it was just minecraft animation it would have been just some animation for me, not standing out. In other words - i like that whey made this movie with hyper realistic models and textures, but there is that problem where piglins and ghasts look like they were made from clay, and creeper, isn't creepy, but fluffy and soft instead.
My thoughts excatly. I think we have wayyyyy too much animations already.
