He most likely won’t. I think Mojang only own the rights to use his songs in video games. And he has stated he will only let them use his music if he keeps the copyright to the song. I could be wrong though maybe they worked something out in private. Worst case senecio the soundtrack will be exclusively popular music that Warner bros parent company have the rights to

Its not even this. Kids entertainment now a days is brain rot, key ding-a-ling, low effort garbage. Just because your a kid doesn't mean you deserve less. Sometimes the really young kids don't care but the second the kid turns ~7-10 there going to be able to pick out garbage. I had the same "what the hell" reaction when i went and watched the avatar movie by m night shyamalan when i was 14. I can almost guarantee if i was 10 or a little younger i would of had the same reaction. I know "A minecraft movie" isn't going to be on that level of bad but truly I doubt it will be much better.

I know a lot of people are saying all the people could be real people because they came from the real world, but I think they could've done away with that. They could've done some story at the start showing the people and how they got there (which they might do) but then have them become animated and like a Minecraft character when they walk through the portal. Then they could experience being blocky and experience the world.

And every bit they did animate was in the style of those Minecraft in real-life videos from 2012
I honestly prefer the OG animations Mojang made with the updates; They should honestly just use inspiration from those and a little bit from Minecraft Story Mode but name it The Legend of Minecraft at least sounds better than The Minecraft Movie and just make the story about Steve & Alex the main characters of the story and show their funny moments and dramatic scenes heck even their Origins story how they meet, little adventures, exploration, epic fights, and even big ending battle possibly the wither, maybe Piglin King, Ender dragon, or the biggest surpise ever even Herobrine. First movie if they want to make multiple others could focus on Piglin King in the Nether then if a second movie comes out it could be the aftermath of the Nether big fight and possibly even tease us that the Illagers snuck in the Nether stole Soul Sand and the heads of the withered skeletons then proceeds like our 2 main characters going on oblivious to what been happening behind their backs as they go on another journey and exploration then find this massive woodland mansion in the middle of nowhere, they walk inside weapons in hand and explore sneakily while stumbling across a weird room that could be where the evokers are building the Wither as it appears it glows slowly powering up and creating a huge shockwave destroying the inner walls as the mansion slowly crumbles to the ground then Steve & Alex now have to take on their toughest opponent as it rains projectiles and soaring through the air. The battle comes to an end as it leaves only but a single object from the carnage. Mojang might as well hire me for this idea 😂💰

The issue is that the plot seems to be humans from the real world entering the cube world, confused. So how would they do this if the characters are ALSO cubes?

If THE INTERNET would actually change the Minecraft Movie, this would be a victory same size as changing Sonic in his movie.
This is what the Minecraft players are, they are all always fixing the mojang shit even if it’s not mojang, they do it for Minecraft
All these animations are really great and all, but for real I'm super disappointed with the negativity this movie seems to be getting because it just proves how little people are paying attention to the meta layer of the worldbuilding Mojang has been trying to lay out for years now with their youtube channel and spin-off content. A sentient computer named M.a.r.i.l.l.a sitting in a closet at Mojang, A guy being Isekaied into the game and having to learn the game's mechanics as he survives on an island, Advanced Full-dive VR versions of the game that can imprint a person as their avatar. The gods of the world in Minecraft legends being referred to as "Hosts".
Not to mention the lack of appreciation for how much Mojang has paid attention to the kinds of stories players have crafted themselves over the years, with them trying to follow similar themes.
Minecraft's community has always had a habit of giving their storytelling a bit of a meta referencing element, with things like Mojang staff being referenced as religious figures, the world being a server and the concept of administrators being a part of it, and acknowledging stuff that would normally be thought of as just a gameplay mechanic like being able to carry tons in an inventory hammerspace and blocks defying normal physics.
This kind of thing was even done in Minecraft Story Mode which people seem to be praising as the better alternative comparing it to this movie, with the main antagonists going from a Command Block fused to a Wither to a literal Administrator.
Even the End Poem which is in the game itself goes into this, referencing the player, how they perceive the game and what it means to them within the greater lens of their existence in the universe.
The premise of real people being transported into the game has been a running theme they've playing with the idea of since they first started putting out the novels in 2017 with The Island and the Crash, the former of which Jack Black literally voiced the audiobook for. I for one am excited to see where they'll be going with this, as I love meta stories.
The visuals are just fine for what the premise is, I think it *should* look just a little bit uncanny as to properly represent the juxtaposition of a person directly entering the game’s world and viewing it through the lens of how a human being would perceive it. It needs to be a living breathing world for this to work and for them to exist there.
It's not bad, and I even find it a bit charming for what it's going for. I think it makes sense for the context considering they didn't keep the PS1 style the game had on-screen IRL in Jumanji, for example.
They even nailed the creeper's canonical details in it's plant based *mossy* appearance despite people calling it furry/fuzzy.
My only real complaint is the seeming lack of an Alex character and that they didn't try very hard to make Jack Black's outfit accurate to Steve's, as all they would've had to do is leave the neck part of the shirt open and have one side tucked in the pants with the other draped out.
Otherwise, he's a perfect fit for Steve. As an isekaied player, at least. Momoa would've made sense if it'd been Steve as a character native to that world like an NPC, But Jack fits not because of his appearance, but because even though he's not a hardcore fan like his kids, he still has a genuine passion for the game.
To me, the controversy with this movie is more comparable to the FNAF movie than Sonic. It's gonna be a hit with hardcore machinima/lore nerds and bomb with casual fans and critics that don't understand where it's coming from with the decisions made.
I'm hyped and looking forward to seeing it in Theater with some friends and theorizing how it could connect to other content afterward 😄

The user Benly Animations just put out a reanimation of their own and it is by far the best one. Fluid and expressive animation combined with an emulation of the original trailer style. It's perfection.
Let's just have all the animators that did full reanimations do the movie at this point tbh- Like ofc I appreciate the efforts of the CGI artists, but when you keep your fans waiting for ten years? It 's like if Disney making a "Live Action", CGI heavy, realistic Undertale movie.

Imagine a movie about Steve and Alex learning about the ender dragon, deciding to defeat it, gathering materials to go to the nether to gather blaze rods and ender pearls, then turn them into eyes of ender, going to the end ready to kill the dragon, defeating it and peacefully living on. There can also be a subplot about taming a wolf or visiting a village, like before they learn about the dragon they find diamonds or something. No unfunny adult jokes or anything, just Minecraft.

While I do think they should have come out with a storymode-esque movie first, I think the hate the live action movie is receiving is a bit unjustified. 4 (or 5?) humans get teleported into Minecraftia and wonder why there's pink blocky sheep. They meet a dude who's been there a while and is a little bit crazy, named Steve. I don't understand what the problem is other than... it has humans in Minecraftia (which is the whole point of the movie), they cast Jack Black (who is arguably the perfect person to play a crazy dweeb), and the fact they dressed Jason Momoa up in pink (... I got nothing, but that's not a game-changer)
I think what really pisses people off is that this movie isn't what they were expecting, BUT THEY HAVENT EVEN WATCHED IT YET.
