You dont have to pull the primary to get the belt off in a pinch, use a pry bar very gently to take up the slack, try to get the belt tight on the primary, then you should be able to roll the belt off the top of the secondary, reverse to put back on, obviously a new belt will be tighter but most of the primaries on these have grooves that allow the belt to bottom out between the sheeves and it gives you just enough to get the belt back on, could save s long walk or ruined day of riding

Just picked this 4wheeler up Off a old farmer. I believe the grandkids jammed the gears from H-L too much. It has a little lag when given gas… is this do to the belt slipping?
Yes, just a simple belt might fix the problem. Otherwise the clutches might be grooved and the only way to fix it would be to replace the sheaves. Not a cheap fix. A lot of times farmers use one speed for spraying and irrigating. That will groove the clutch. It would hurt anything to keep running it that way. Do you know if you can roll the driven clutch to spread it and allow the belt to come off like one would do on an older snowmobile ? I don't know if this fella knows that trick or if it's not possible with this unit ?
Well.... Ya don't have to pull the primary in my situation ..... I rolled the belt off with a tiny bit of effort (ya still have to get at it !! That's the effort ..... ) The service manual says to put in gear, lock the brakes and Spin and push the driven clutch (inward ) and it will allow the belt to go deeper into the driven clutch giving more slack to slide off the primary it was a piece of piss to do and does not require the puller, I believe this gentleman in the video has other work to do to the clutch not just putting a new belt on (I hope )

I have a 01’ prairie 400, with I believe a slipping clutch. I give throttle but it takes a bit to get it moving. Anyone know what I would need to replace/ fix?

I'd look on the surface of the clutch faces (where belt meets clutch ) I have some worn grooves deep on the driven and high on the primary. Second you will have to disassemble the clutches to expose the shims and weights these areas have contact wearing and should be measured and compared to service manuals specs
Can you do a video on how to adjust the belt, please? I have a '99 Kawasaki Prairie KVF400(C) 4x4 and I'm getting ready to tear into the front differential to replace bearings and seals. Also need to replace the seal on the left side of axle on rear differential. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
It's amazing what shorter tires will do, clutch is a quick way to move the power around but not gain, perhaps a pipe and jetting or lose some weight ( rider weight) it's a 400 single cylinder it's not a powerhouse
If anyone is looking for the same question as I was the arrows on the belt need to be pointing to the front of the quad I'd you buy a aftermarket brand like I did it was difficult to find a answer

What belt are you using, I just pulled the original belt after it broke. It says Mitsubishi 59011-1062 but I can’t not find that belt anywhere.
