Great video, I’m at the point of pulling that pinion gear and wondered about that roll pin… thanks!

Diving in pretty deep on this one. I don't know much about ATV diffs, but I've done a lot of automotive diffs. Based on that, I would think there would be some provision for adjusting the mesh and backlash on the gears. That nut you made the tool for probably has something to do with it.
Those hypoid gearsets are quite sensitive to being set up properly and can eat themselves up if not set correctly. Maybe it's not a thing on an ATV, but I suspect it is. Time will tell I guess, and I think I'd be watching ebay for a good used, complete diff.

Thanks for the insight! This crossed my mind while putting it back together as in the past I gave too many ugga dugga's to a part (can't remember exactly what it was now) and it wouldn't turn. However, after the two bearings for the main shaft were seated, there really wasn't anything to adjust. Same goes for the large gear. I also couldn't find any info suggesting an adjustment. But, I guess I will find out eventually. And yes, my plan is to find another diff and throw it on the shelf until needed, another 4wheerler is also on the list so I have a spare when one breaks down.

Hopefully it works out ok. Powersports Nation in Norfolk parts out something like 40 ATVs per week and may be a good source of used parts for that machine.

How did you get the speedometer gear out. The fastword made it hard to see

I can't remember, I believe there was little cover I unscrewed and slid it out maybe? Once I figured it out it was very easy to get out.
