    I am often amused at the gurus and snobs who profess a love of mechanical watches yet fail to own a skeleton or even a watch having an exhibition back. Rolex Submariners anyone? They may as well own a (despised) quartz. Not being a hypocrite I own several skeletons and exhibition back watches, both manual and auto wind. Like you Ivan I take great delight in enjoying their mesmerising craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks Brian - I certainly do enjoy well implemented exhibition case backs myself, although haven't paid much attention to skeletons dials until lately. I think if done well, they can be absolutely gorgeous, although understandably are not everyone's cup of tea (nor suitable for some purposes/designs). Cheers, Ivan.

    I own one and I do love this watch. It is interesting though that this model is called The Herald these days.

      Thanks for the comment - Ah, that may explain why it was so difficult to find listings for this watch online!

      Seagull does seem reliable to me so far... mine has continued to work fine

      They’ve been consistently producing watches since the late 1800s and offer a lifetime warranty so I’d say yes! Now made in China but as you probably know the Chinese are capable of making pretty much anything to any standard (iPhone for example - are they reliable? Mine always have been) these watches appear very well built and I think they contain decent movements! I’m surprised so few watch reviewers seem to give this brand their time!

    I like Tissot's T-complication Squelette, a pocket watch size movement in modern skeleton form. There seems to be only a few proper skeleton form watches in the sub $2k range, then straight to 'haute horology' decoration galore. Epos, Tourby (ETA/Unitas)? and Seagull. Must be some more?

      Thanks for the comment! I must admit I don't have a lot of awareness of skeleton watches and what features people are particularly interested in for these pieces. I have always thought it was more of a gimmick for some brands, and in others a true show of a skilfully executed piece, the latter being haute horology and therefore being beyond the reach of most of us. Cheers, Ivan.

      What I found was squelette is French for skeleton. I do like to see the movement operate, especially the escapement, perhaps that will grow old quickly.

    would u recommend this watch? I know people state its a chinese movement and not worth the price but the herald lineup looks very impressive.

      So far it’s been reliable for me and my family :)

      The Chinese are quite capable of making anything to any standard! (iPhones for example) there are some decent Chinese watch movements and I’ve had an ingersoll in the past that was reliable. They also offer a lifetime warranty so you can’t really go wrong!

    What's the lifespan of this watch? Talking about the mechanism like could this watch just run for ever? Sorry for bad english

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Supposed to run forever

    For those stating these are showy designs with poor quality movements I’d say, with a lifetime warranty and Amazon selling many Ingersolls for under half the list price (MSRP) if you can find a bargain these are great watches! Just because the movements are Chinese doesn’t necessarily make them poor quality, after all where is your iPhone made!!!

      Lifetime warranty!? That’s amazing!!

    I had my sights set on purchasing my first Ingersoll the other day until I'd done further research online stating that the calibre is Chinese. Furthermore I've read up that it shares the same calibre as significantly cheaper watches. Even though it's a German design, having such knowledge of the calibre was a deal breaker for me. Especially when spending that much of cash. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The movements are mostly from Zeon and appear to be fair quality. If you're concerns I would try to find out more from user reports from owners. Not sure about being able to find these same movements in much cheaper watches, I'd want solid confirmation about that info.

      Every site that I've visited states the same. The movements are made in Shanghai and Sea-gull. On the Ingersoll site itself they no where state where their movements are made. Only that's it's a German DESIGN. Hence you'd see that inscribed on the watches itself instead of German MADE.

    • @MrNashey1
      @MrNashey1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In a nutshell, the appearance is German, movement is Chinese.

    Sehr interessant. Die "Nez Percé" und die aktuell erhältliche "The Herald" sehen sich zum Verwechseln ähnlich. Marketing Strategie oder nur ein Trick um die gleiche Ware nochmal zu verkaufen und so den Preis möglichst niedrig zu halten?

    • @PerthWAtch

      I think the models might be slightly different... although overall can look very similar.

    Garbage watches first off very expensive as it's made in Hong long and contains a seagull or Shanghai movement. Upon delivery they asked to pay 130$ for tax and import fees which makes this brand very unreasonable with it's price and quality.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm that’s curious - where are you based? Are those taxes and fees only applicable to certain brands?

    • @rominanezami6888
      @rominanezami6888 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@PerthWAtch I'm from Canada. Honestly im not sure about if its applicable to some brands or everything but I notice many major retailers include the tax and import duties included to overall price. I thought it's still American brand and found out after my purchase it says Zeon and right away I knew this is chinese watch. I have couple of skeleton watches just like you I love the mechanical movement. Next time I will look in your reviews to find a decent 7k to 9k Swiss made movement. Thanks for your reviews. Stay safe

    • @riropower
      @riropower 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rominanezami6888 That import fee would apply to any watch that costs similarly, it‘s not the brand itself but the import itself.

    this watch is a great German design but unfortunately it is a Chinese mechanism don't worth that price

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the comment. Fair enough thought although I would say that the finishing is definitely better than the average Chinese watch... I think the price isn't far off a sweet spot.
