      Nice. I’ve been thinking alot of running 36” drop deck with gullwings for dh, which is supposedly a stupid idea, i beg to differ. What do you think? Will i still be able to ride at 65-80kph speed without wobbles and still being able to slide?

    The most important thing to remember is that you realistically, can ride pretty much anything, for whatever you want. It's all about personal preference, because your skill and style come from you. However, this dude makes a lot of really good points about board styles. I personally prefer topmounted directional decks, like my Omen Spawn. Great board for all things gnar. Not good for cruising and freestyle, though.

    • @anthonycoleman9494
      @anthonycoleman9494 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      willyamacaronie if you're planning on freeriding and or doing downhill for trucks id go with calibers they don't feel that great at slow speeds because they're restrictive but once you get going down a hill and start sliding they feel amazing . another good set of trucks are bears because you can flip the hanger and get a different feel if you're planning on cruising or downhilling i personally like them a little more than calibers just because of how light then are so for all around riding bears feel alot better.

    I'm a beginner and I really enjoy just cruising down a soft slope on my snowboard (not a tricksters) so I went with the first board that you showed in this video. Is it a good fit for learning the basics and balances on a board before taking on some small to medium hills? Haven't received the board yet but it is in the mail. BTW I'm pushing 40 years and was just curious about this idea of using a board for getting around, is it any good for just going to the store and stuff. And I also want to point out that I live on top of a mountain here in Norway. Anyway great job on the video and information.

    • @tacticsboardshop
      @tacticsboardshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any of these boards will be great for learning the basics of balancing and pushing around. Since longboards have a longer wheelbase, you can have a wider stance which will make you more stable than a standard skateboard, and having those big soft wheels helps too with pebbles and sidewalk cracks. Since you live on a mountain, be careful around those hills, you can get going way too fast very quickly. Just get really comfortable with riding and pushing before trying any mellow hills and you should be fine! Good luck and have fun! Cheers! - Tim

The problem is I don't know what board to buy. I've ridden a arbor board I couldn't tell if it was freeride board or not but I found that it was suppeeerrr hard to powerslide. I kinda wanted a board that was easy to powerslide. The OTHER problem is that I also get speed wobles pretty easily even on that board I was using so I'm kinda torn on what I should get. THE THINGS I KNOW ARE: I want to be able to slide. I cant go above $225 (thats not that hard I made a pretty good one I thought on amazon for $160). I don't mind building it myself I actually enjoy setting up boards but it all depends on if a complete is less expensive. Please help someone if not tactics. HELP HELP HELP HELP SOSO READ ABOVE.

      Hey something I would recommend is a globe geminon deck, you can find a good price for them, though flex might be a small issue if you weigh 150 or more or you could try your deck and maybe even sector 9 meridian As for trucks get caliber 50, there great for downhill, freeride and are pretty stiff. There are a lot of wheels to choose from but I would recommend the cloudride Slusheez or Iceez for the price and how fun they are, the sector 9 butterballs for there centerset core (allows you to flip the wheels around when they wear down), or the Santa Cruz Slimeballs because they feel like a softer skate wheel. And finally for Bearings I’d recommend zealous because even though they take awhile to break in they are lighting fast when there broken in plus they’re tough, don’t require spacers or washers and are easy to maintain. If your looking for a complete the sector 9 meridian complete is great (fits your budget and is well built) Hope this helps and stay safe.

    The first board with the drop that you displayed here you mentioned it wouldn't be able to grip as well to hit corners. Is that due to the drop through mount or because of the wheel you would be using for a freeride board? Also I am 5'10 weighing 200. Would the board hit the ground when making hard turns?

    • @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm
      @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds good! So would a drop through mount create pressure cracks in time? A myth I heard about by one person that I don't know on the web. Never heard of that before, but I would consider myself heavier of a rider compared to all my lighter friends and was concerned.

    • @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm
      @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to get a drop through mount and test the feel for myself both styles. Is the top mount less smooth than drop through when riding?

    • @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm
      @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay thanks! What about the question of possible pressure cracks with a drop through mount?

    • @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm
      @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay perfect! Good information. Last question so i ain't bothering at this point... Will a top mount deck with a drop down be just as good and low for freeriding as a drop through with a flat deck? I know the turning will grip more for tighter turns as you mentioned. I just want a board that fits what I like and I'm new to long boards. I've grown up with the usual commercial skating. I don't want a long board that resembles a regular board though. I like the absence of wood around the wheels for long boards.

      ***** ok thanks for all of your help! Couldn't have gotten better responses from anyone else. Thanks for your time. Lastly is it possible that a wheel at 65mm could be to small for a board? Or is it all based off of preferences?

      LacrosseMaster 2015 I'd go with the original free ride 38 that's thr board i learned to slide on that and the landyachtz 9 two 5 are really good for learning how to slide and progressing your skill.

      I have a evo from landyachtz and I ride a lot of downhill. I found the 40 inch apex to suit me for freeride. I got the freeride 38 and it's way easier to slide on.

    • @Vykk_Draygo

      Freestyle is more trick and dance oriented, usually flatground (but not always), with a focus on flowing runs. Freeride is downhill slides and tricks.
