From The Footplate - 5917 In The ACT, Canberra To Bungendore, 10th Of April 2023

On the 10th of April 2023 The Picnic Train was operating their Easter long weekend shuttles from Canberra to Bungendore in the ACT with steam locomotive 5917.
In this film you'll see plenty of footage I took from the footplate of 5917 as we blasted along the tracks from Canberra to Bungendore.

no foot pedal on the fire door?

On the cab floor there is a foot button for the firebox door that is steam operated though it is not currently operational on Steam Locomotive 5917. Possibly in the future The Picnic Train may restore the function.

foot plate on a steam loco.noisy.hot .not much in the way of comfort,nothing like it.
