  • Tengu are some of the most unorthodox ancestries in the game. They have some abilities that go so off base for the rest of the system!

Fun fact: Casting your Tengu Innate spells through your Tengu Feather Fan allows you to use your Class DC in place of the Spell's DC. This means that if the hypothetical Dogtooth Fighter took the Feather Fan Feat and used it to cast Electric Arc, the DC for the spell would scale based off of the fighter's Dexterity/Strength.

I'm really happy you're starting this series up and I love the introspection and look at the way that these videos effect your channel. A lot of youtube culture is blinded by the first 24 hours and really neglect information that can stay consistently useful over long amounts of time in favor of algorithm chasing content that is quickly pushed out to a ton of people (Nothing wrong with that type of content at all btw, it's how the site works and that's okie). So having videos that do well long term does a lot to help the ttrpg community find resources for things that confuse them without having to dig through the books

Intersting video. I was not aware of the series. I usually have issues grasping ancestries so I will probably go through the list.
    A few remarks:
4:13 That is basically "Arrest a Fall", minus the normal reaction cost.
5:30 I am really confused about those Ancestry Attacks. It seems like they think having 1D4 S/P instead of 1D4 Bludgeon is a _advantage_ somehow? But it realy is not in the game. Resistances and Vulnerabilities simply do not work out that.
Either the damage type does not mater - or Bludgeon is the best option for 95% of cases when it does mater. So any 1D4 Agile will be worthless compared to the Fist.
9:56 Nope, you are not crazy. None of them work that way. Only Tengu do. They are definitely not "birds of a feather".
However, "Common Advanced" Swords is 2 swords as of Treasure Vault. So unless the campaign overwrites rarity of some weapons, it does nearly nothing.
10:21 Creatures would still have 5 fire Resistance, however.
16:49 You can simply say "Scaling Weapon Proficiency". Because it is "Expert or Greater", so it scales from then on.

7:40, yes I use this rule, especially in a dungeon or similar situation. I like to encourage my players to pay attention to their actions, choosing where they are searching carefully, listening for danger at specific doors. After coming from 5e where everything was very lackadaisical and players sort of generalised their actions and assumed I'd make it work. I made sure to run PF2e as written, my players know I'm doing this, to break bad habits set by 5e.

16:49 - I think Tengu Weapon Expertise might be kinda useless. The wording on Tengu Weapon Familiarity is noticeably different from its equivalents for other ancestries. It specifies that the weapons chosen are considered simple for the purpose of proficiency. As written, that also seems to include the Advanced swords, too. So Expertise would only be useful if you do not increase your proficiency with all simple weapons. And if you don't get that already you probably shouldn't be hitting things with a sword in the first place.

Does MountainKeeper Tengu's ability to cast Disrupt Dead as Divine or Primal matter since you can use any spell DC/prof with innate spells?

It's very niche, but some enemies and characters have inherent resistances to specific traditions of magic.
Check out the Superstition Barbarian to see what I mean.
      But again, VERY niche.

For Scavengers search: we used it as late as last session when the players had to find shards of a broken crystal while fighting the tomb guardians so they could recreate the control crystal and take control of them :)

Hey @nonat1s you might wanna crop your thumbnail for these videos. There is a red bar at the bottom that makes it look like the "viewed" bar that TH-cam has. I almost didn't watch this video because it looked like I already watched it on mobile.

    Mariners fire is kinda useless.
It cant ignite items for light, and enemies underwater have resistance 5 to fire damage from being underwater. I dont understand the point?
