    Saw an infj comment how important it is to be themselves because everyone was wrong about how individualistic infjs are. I laughed. Infjs can get so triggered by the fact they're chameleons... even though they're chameleons. It's like getting mad that you have a nose. It's hilarious!

    • @CassandraMontgomery-hz8li
      @CassandraMontgomery-hz8li 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hmm… I think it depends on the enneagram, though. While we can be chameleons, I’m a 1. So I can get mistaken for a Fi pretty easily, or people with the same 152 type. But I have zero healthy Fi, besides my morals and values. Terrible self image. But I do get very silently stubborn (or uncharacteristically loud if someone is hurting someone else) and unwavering on my beliefs and views on what’s right and wrong, which looks like Fi. I’m always open to debate and opinions, but they better be good to sway mine ultimately because I put a lot of through and research into it, essentially. To be honest, my INFP ex husband and ENFP husband both sometimes are the disingenuous ones in conversations when they start people pleasing in opposing Fe and Fe critic. I, on the other hand, dig my heals in for what’s right (in this context, it’s fighting for our son’s health and rights) and although I’m quaking in my boots at confrontation, that chameleon people pleasing has been turned off and I refuse to say anything I don’t believe and will just appease them, but ultimately cost him proper help. They tell me their indignant views about it all and in person, fold like cards and say all is fine, ok, etc and I’m like what?? It sure isn’t! I’m still very polite and keep it as friendly as I can, but I will not suppress what is true and right. However, if I feel nothing to do with someone else is at stake, and in fact, whatever social chameleoning I do will only help people feel comfortable etc etc, then that’s what I do. And I guess that can be seen as fake. But more than anything, I just suppress and hide my true feelings and preferences, likes and dislikes (although likes even more than dislikes) but u can’t pretend to like things I don’t, etc, I just give a noncommittal neutral answer and change the subject, lol. I’m a terrible liar. But again- I’m a type one, and I’m also Autistic/Aspergers, so I’m sure that plays a role. I truly wish I didn’t have my Fe. I spend a lot of time in Ni Ti loops and though they are painful, if I could, I would stay there forever. Fe is such a shitty function to have. It’s completely unstable and relies on everyone else. Feeling for everyone over yourself is just awful- even the worst people get more empathy that I give myself, and honestly, that’s why I door slam. So I don’t have to look them in the eyes again and feel bad for them all over despite everything.
      Being an INFJ sucks and is confusing. I admire the Fi in my healthier INFP friends because even at their worst, there’s still some self worth/self value in there for themselves and knowing what they want, etc. Because I literally have no idea behind solving the next person’s problem. And the next..
      So I do agree with you- I’ve seen INFJs of other enneagrams, and even as a 1, I do it a lot, but only in the non consequential things where it doesn’t matter and just makes people happy. Just thought I would share that perspective. 🙂

      @CassandraMontgomery-hz8li 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Irish__ClanYea, ironically we judge people on things they would never consider and don’t at all in the things they are convinced we would. I care about someone’s character and I give a lot of grace. When someone gets to the point where they’ve crossed a line and disappointed despite my already intentionally low bar and all the endless concessions, the internal judgmental hammer drops and all the things I was ignoring flood at once and I can’t unsee it. I have a hard time looking at them after because I don’t want them to know. But they usually have no idea they’ve finally crossed the line unless they start egging me to the point when I word vomit it out. Only a couple special people have been able to get to that point. But I feel bad for making them sad, so I don’t like to tell them if I can help it. It’s always morality and ethical things though, typically. They think I will judge their work ethic or appearance, status, possessions, homes, etc, and I just don’t care about any of that. I care who you are and what you do/how you treat other people and living things.

      Not quite true. INFJs know what they themselves think. What they feel, however, is another topic. Having Ti as a third function, INFJs are more in tune with their own thoughts than they are their own feelings.

    • @CassandraMontgomery-hz8li
      @CassandraMontgomery-hz8li 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hmmm, yea what the other guy said- I know what I think, 100%. Feel? Nope. Not at all. Not mentally, not physically. The amount of times I’ve sat on sharp things or wondered where the bruises or cuts came from.. lol. Or therapist asking what feeling im currently feeling and describing it logically while not actually properly answering the question because I don’t actually know, haha.
      Man… in elementary school, we had journals, and on top of it all, being a 152, heavy on the 5-close runner up- I hated the idea of writing this for someone to see and also, I had no clue what I felt, so I wrote song lyrics, haha. I can still hear it in my head “zzz, those are not your feelings… those are lyrics.. not even related lyrics about feelings.. do it again and write your feelings..” I tried, but had no idea how. I think I drew a picture next, lol. 😆
      But I do know my opinion on things. Funny though, because I hate sharing it unless someone else has something at stake and I feel it’s my obligation/duty to, apparently l have this bad habit of saying “I don’t get it/understand/etc.” I’ll always remember the doctor friend who said “No, you do. More than anyone- you actually understand, and that’s the problem. You should stop saying that, because you’ve always understood- what you mean is that it’s terrible and wrong and you don’t want to say it like that if you can help
      it, so you say you don’t understand.” And I realized I did that constantly. People would think I wasn’t grasping things but I had immediately, it was just shocking and I didn’t want to believe what I was hearing, etc. Probably explaining it kind of poorly, especially without context, but yea. I would eventually fight for something if it needed it/someone needed me to, but man do I hate confrontation.
      When asked what I think, unless it’s something to do with a morality/ethical issues (type 1), I am woefully noncommittal and vague, while simultaneously using a lot of words. But in the latter, suddenly someone will know exactly what I think, but still.. feel?? That one’s a mystery lol!

    Another thing you can use to diferentiate them is this, when they are under sever stress they become their opposite type, so Infj becomes an addicted of sensorial pleasures (Estp) while Infp becomes a dictator that would scare Stalin(Estj)

    • @CassandraMontgomery-hz8li
      @CassandraMontgomery-hz8li 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yup!! Most of the INFPs I know have random angry outbursts that seem to most to come out of nowhere, and go sideways, usually at a safe person that wasn’t who they were actually upset at, and then they feel terrible afterwards. They also get hypercritical, depending on Enneagram, and some become obsessed with money, things, projects, arguments, etc. All of them get pretty snappy and edgy. What’s so sad is how many hate their are grip so much, some of the women actually thought they had severe mental illnesses because of the character shift when they finally lashed out at someone. I have to remind them that they notice it and it bothers them so much because of how rare it is- no, they do not have severe anger problems! They just are super guilty.
      INFJs, on the other hand, become less serious, and pretend to be chill (or may be kind of frantic and avoiding everything, but usually feign apathy) and tell a bunch of jokes, kind of swear sometimes (and then wonder what the heck they are doing that for, lol, you feel almost possessed like- is this another weird mask? What the heck am I doing and saying??) and refuse to look at the past or furture without having a panic attack and then trying to revert to said jokes to dismiss it all. Or binge watching Netflix with seemingly zero control and hating themselves the whole time.
      But picture a perfectionistic, but empathetic, 34 year old girl with Austism/Aspergers and OCD (I’m a type 1, so basically Elsa from frozen, including the blonde hair and avoidant behaviours when not hyper people pleasing and helping everyone non stop) suddenly acting like a high school jock, caring about nothing but right now, and sensory activities, dying hair, and cursing like a sailor telling joke after joke, especially dirty ones, haha. Cus it’s like that.. Like what the heck.. it is NOT intentional. If can be even worse- I ca try to avoid it and then all the Se activities trying to force their way in and take over while I’m still trying to do things but completing absolutely nothing and wasting my time. Lol. Se grip suuuucks. If only I just did my music or drew, or wrote.. but no. lol. I avoid it and try to turn it back into work, like hyper cleaning and cooking, until it disintegrates to Netflix and jokes. 😅
      What’s hilarious is that INFs are great friends typically. But we hate each other’s grip states soooo much. I know over a dozen INFPs, have known so many more, my dad was one, my daughter is, my mother in law, ex husband and his dad/previous father in law, and then all the friends I’ve had, etc, and one of my doctors, and my therapist. They are my favourite people.
      But- INFJs are freaked out by Te grip, and INFPs absolutely HATE our Se grip, lol!! My ex husband/friend-the first thing he said when we were discussing MBTI and enneagram was wait- what function/type do you become whenever you drink anything?? (Normally I never do, but he would be sooo irritated if I had one little drink a couple times a year, you would think I got black out wasted, lol.) I told him and he was like “Yup.. I HATE that function.” (It’s their 7th Polr function, aka least favourite, just like Te is for the INFJs.) I literally just became silly and a little impulsive and flirty etc. most people actually liked me better because I was finally “relaxed and chill” but not him. Or the other INFPs. And their are grip makes me panic.
      So the Polr function and Grip states, although they are the same weaknesses for both of of us, they manifest differently and although initially confuse people more; they actually are a surefire way to tell them apart.
      Great observation! It’s the one I tend to use as well. 🙂

      @@LittleMew133 It has to be that. I know some people really like to feel supported but since INFJs take social situations with impartiality, they could not support you if they think you're wrong no matter you're their friend. That doesn't mean they don't like you though. They'll prefer staying fair, and honest regarding the other person even if they don't know them because they care about this unknown person nonetheless and want to stay true to their own moral values and logic (INFPs are supposed to like authenticity right ?). INFPs tend to lack logic sometimes, that's just how it is.

      Cognitive functions man. Get into the cognitive functions before falling into stereotypes
      INFP- Fi>Ne>Si>Te
      ISFP- Fi>Se>Ni>Te
      INFJ- Ni>Fe>Ti>Te
      Notice how INFP and ISFP are quite similar, bringing INFJ as least likely type.
      INFPs first 2 are Fi>Ne
      meaning their driving view of the world is “I feel this way about this experience”(Fi), now lets brainstorm various ideas for life and project my feelings onto my copious amounts of OCs and fictional worlds(Ne). I am perfectly comfortable living in my head with all these characters and can enjoy life dissociated from the physical world, not really care about being proactive in the social setting, kinda just vibe in the background but when I’m stressed I have my memories of the good old times to fall back on, as well as the bad memories that I dwell on (Si>Se). I don’t really analyze things for fun in my head though, I’d rather think about things that you can actually implement irl(Te>Ti)
      ISFPs first 2 are Fi>Se. “How do all these physical sensations and experiences/actions”(Se) make me feel?(Fi) I wanna go out into the world and experience things that make me feel good. I also have kind of a sucky memory, but physical aesthetic beauty and outdoor activities like hiking are pretty cool. I’m more likely to live in the present moment and be more proactive in social settings than sit on the sidelines(Se>Si). I also have a tendency to predict future outcomes based on patterns I’ve noticed.(Ni)
      INFJ: Ni>Fe. I see patterns in people everywhere and can therefore predict the outcome of things(Ni) and I can easily understand group dynamics, interpersonal relationships, heck its way easier for me to read other people than understand how Im feeling(Fe>Fi). I’m honestly most often dissociated from the present moment, but I can be proactive socially/change my environment to match my vision if I want to(inferior Se) but I have really, really sucky memory, which also means I can move on from painful memories easier tbh since I dont dwell on the past and am more focused on how I can shape my future(straight up 8th last function Si+ Ni dom). I can analyze everything and think about random bs in my head for hours, idc whether or not they’re practical, the analysis is just fun and it keeps my brain running(Ti>Te). When I’m stressed, I either dissociate completely from reality through escapism or bring myself back to reality and out of my head through physical sensations like scratching, loud music, binge eating, ect. (inferior Se).

      @@enevy3165 I mean ISFP really surprised me, I really don't look like one. But for INFP and INFJ are very confising for me, I listen to other people explain and I feel I can be both or most similar to INFJ rather than INFP.But for your explaination, Im more closer to INFP, so Im like hybrid? It sounds pretty odd that people can explain different from each others. Thanks for your writing, its a lot and help me to understand more Jenevy:)

      @@crystalruby99 INFJ vs INFP?
      When comforting people, do you prefer to stay silent most of the time/let the other person speak, then give your response after? or do you tend to proactively ask questions to help guide them so they can clarify, thus sorting out their feelings as they explain to you?
      When you’re under stress, do you replay the past repeatedly and feel the emotions until theres nothing left, where you had gone wrong, what you could have done, the good and bad times? Or do you develop tunnel vision on a single negative outcome in the future, that you can’t see a way forward, that “whats the point”?
      Do you dwell more on past memories, and have a hard time moving on? Or are you more focused on worrying about/planning/predicting the future and honestly move on easier and forget the past pretty easily cuz of your detatched memory?
      Are you more drawn to people who are loud and outspoken, who say what they mean and are strong and intelligent? Or are you more drawn to people who live life carefree, no braincells, but still have their moments when they notice more than you think?
      When relating to others emotions, do you look back to a time when you went through a similar situation and remember how you felt then? Or do you understand how they feel just by them as a person, their past, their current situation and how it affects them as a person(without thinking about yourself/your experiences)?
      If you mainly said the first option: INFP
      if you said the second: INFJ

      @@enevy3165 The first question is I can do both but mainly second, I will ask a lot questions and listen what they say and analyze it.
      When Im under stress...harder to explain but maybe both aswell but I would say I feel them are kinda similar answears( I could be wrong and Enligh is not quite my first language).
      I will dwell in my past memories a lot but I will also try to plan and think about my future and feel mostly worried because I have a harder time believe myself could done anything good.
      As for the people I drawn to, a bit tricky, because there is a person I talk to when Im in depression and hes kinda like both and I really have a harder time understand what he really means sometimes. Hes very smart but sometimes you can see him being oblivious with the truth a bit. We like trying to fix each others problems a lot better than fixing our own XD. He doesn't feel as stressful as I am and be really happy most times when we talk. He will do things thats weird than what I expected but I still think hes my friend?? I sometimes will forget what I will say even though I said it in my head before I type XD. Hes also an INFJ and actually I think he quite a typical one. I still like to talk to him because I think he will never lie and be pretty truthful even though he doesn't know how to properly care others but simetimes i find him doing a pretty good job?
      For other peoples emotions, Ive probably never been through it but I will understand by listen to them and feel how they feel and by what I learned by myself, mainly from listen to podcast online. Its quite amazed that I can understand them even though I didn't actually been through it.
      I don't know if you can understand but its pretty chaotic even for me and I have to dig so much to actually understand them XDI don't even know if I understand myself, I think I get over with something that happend that put me in my depression as a last straw but I still feel pretty broken. I can't control my emotion that well, I had to talk to people so often. Am I still grasping to the past but at least I don't cry all day and thinking bad or Im still in the darkness?

      I suppose they could, and many INFPs wear one too conceal there true feelings, but I don’t think many like this. Most INFPs strive to be as genuine as they can be in a harsh judgmental world

      An indication of difference: Both show their true colors in the times of adversity.
      INFJ mask is firmer under stress. Like an 'I am Ok' when everything is falling apart.
      Whereas INFP, when threatened, strongly suggest their originality... often projecting their individual identity.

    The thing about INFJ Values - is completely false. Unless you have some unusual definition of "Values".

    • @WatchingTheTimes
      @WatchingTheTimes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As an INFJ, I do have values. And I have developed much time and efforts developing them, like being well read. INFPs are no different so far. The difference is in what's in the core of those values. For INFP, the core is a Belief; for an INFJ, an Idea. That's why, INFJ values aren't as firm as INFP.
      For example, my values are 'based on the idea' humanism, fairness and empathy. If I had been an INFP, my values would have been humanism, fairness and empathy, coz I strongly 'believe' in them. (I hope you get the difference).

      Auxiliary function Fe makes INFJ feel the external, then they construct values by contemplating (Ni).
      For INFP they have pre-built feelings (Fi). They construct their values by applying this to the external (Ne). A reason why INFP is more explorer and less disciplined than INFJ.

      F Function - is your Personality\Character, not just (literally)Feelings. Why the following names are known so much time after their death: Napoleon Bonaparte, Mahatma Gandhi, Adolf Hitler, Diogenes the dog. It was their personal Character that told them to do whatever they've done & to be whatever they were. T or N Functions won't tell you what to do ― only the Possibilities.
      So for me it's pretty simple ― my Values are mostly or totally based on Ni and Ti; they are Universal. My Fe can take from everything that is available; even the Inanimate-World, like the Firmness of a Rock, the Malleability of Water. And also Fictional Characters. But the Values are very firm; I'm building myself, as I go along.
