People are facing a tough retirement. and it's even harder for workers to save due to low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire in.
The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.
It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. 'Joseph Nick Cahill' taught me to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. I've been with him for years now and his decades of experience in the markets translate to chunks of value in so many ways! he has upscaled my portfolio and even got me reading self help books haha
Joseph Nick Cahill is his name. He is regarded as a genius in his area and works for Empower Financial Services. He's quite known in his field, look-him up.
Thank you so much for the suggestion! I really needed it. I looked him up on Google and explored his website; he has an impressive background in investments. I've sent him an email, and I hope to hear back from him soon!
I'm 37. I'm financially broke. I don't really have a career. I'm taking care of an aging parent. But I will try my best every day. Currently learning a new skillset to do freelance online. You're not alone in this.
Everything is going to be all right. Human intelligence is so developed that you only need a very small portion of it to make a living. This is not going to be a problem at all. Check out what Sadhguru speaks about this
Very relatable, although I’m 26 I still feel like my life isn’t together and I don’t know what to do with it. Living in London is difficult, I want to change careers but the job market isn’t great at the moment. Rejections after rejections.
My outlook on money changed when I realized someone making $300,000 can retire broke & someone making $80,000 can retire a multi-millionaire. Living within your means and living a frugal lifestyle is the first step to financial independence. I just hit the one million mark last year, cheers to everyone striving to get there someday.
Varied sources of income is wise and especially living within your means. My net worth is over $1M and I can pay my bills with no stress, but I don't live like I have that. I have no complaints.
This intrigues me. I've looked up financial advisors online, but finding one to connect with is a bit difficult. Do you mind if I ask for your recommendation?
You are exactly right. I make 90k and already have 2.5 million+ dollar accumulated with no debt at age of 43. I don’t really focus on climbing up the corporate ladder but on stability and job security. Others around me are jealous but it is all about investing smartly in Real Estate and staying away from stocks in hopes of sudden fortune which is highly unlikely to make you rich unless ultra lucky. Stay away from high risk things in your life but build up with sure deals like soon to be developed land and houses. Twice I sold to a dev and that was huge lift. Also cut down on trips uselessly they expensive means nothing. I enjoyed my vacation through company expensed trips, was another way to relieve trip urges. Life has been better these days but under libtards government, I’m afraid my spending power will lesson while those around me cry hard for help. LoL
I tuned 39 last month. I'm unmarried with no children yet...BY CHOICE! I'm going to start a Masters full-time in a whole new country within the next few months. I'm pivoting in my career to do what I want to do and not what I can bend myself into. You're going to be fine. We're going to be fine because we're living our own lives and not what is deemed as " settling down " by society. Continue to walk bravely!
Hi, my name is Hannah. I am turning 33 in the end of this year. unmarried with no children just like you. I feel anxious and I want to know if you feel anxious somtimes and how you handle a situation like this.
I am in a same situation moved to pursue Masters at 38 and now started to work again from scratch in a new country after quitting job of 17 years. Not that easy but at the same time not impossible.
I am 44 single and planning to move to other country and start my career from scratch. Its difficult but when I saw your video and comments, I realize there are so many like me.
Make sure to master as many aspects of your field in the interim. Most countries require you to demonstrate that your competence is superior to their current populations before offering up certain visas.
You are not alone! I’m 38 divorced single no house no kids and exploring career change - life is beautiful and can begin at any age - the show is not over until we say it’s over! Keep going everyone - your mental peace is invaluable 😊
By the time I was 45 I had lived in VT, NH, CT, MA, FL, NC, WI, AZ, NM, and Vegas twice. I'm now 65 and the past five years have lived in Mexico and twice in Europe. I will have another move by the end of this year to a sunnier climate. I've done this alone with only my dog. We go through growth stages every 7-10 years. We are constantly evolving. I meet so many women travelers along the way. I never want to be that person on my death bed thinking I shoulda, coulda, woulda but I was too afraid to try. At 38 you are still learning so much and grasping what is important to you. You have so many wonderful moments ahead. You will be a full powerhouse with each evolution. Try different things and do not consider anything a mistake. You are learning what you like and do not like. That is valuable. I have changed careers. From psychiatric caseworker, fashion industry and now I am working on my first fictional series.Congratulations and safe journey.
@@DurainMontong I did have a family. I'm even a proud grandmother. Many women travel with their partners, alone on vacations, after divorce and after a partner dies. I've had a divorce and a partner die. Sounds like you missed the point. Women can do anything, they have choices. You jumped to the conclusion that I've not experienced other aspects of life. I also have friends who married their high school boyfriends and never moved at all. They are perfectly happy. However, this conversation is about those who are making different choices and overcoming those fears.
@@agl5132 I find your story inspiring and empowering. Women can do anything they'd like, whether they ever choose to have a family or not. It is always the insecure men or brainwashed (by patriarchy) women in the comments trying to shame women about having or not having a family. It's just tired! I'm about to move out of country and it's scary but continuous growth and learning is so worth it :)
I'm a 35 single woman, doing my masters degree in another country. I felt too old for this but here i am. Trying to start a new life with lots of uncertainty feelings and questioning if this was the right choice. I was depressed a year ago, and i can't say yet that I'm 100% happy with the change (you know what they say: everywhere you go there you are) but I'm feeling more hopeful at least
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
I just turned 37 and just put in a months notice at the job I have been at for the past 16 years. I’m ready to let go of what no longer serves me and move forward with my life.
@@milatorres5899 Good Lord I wish I was your age again!! 😫😖🙂↕️ Life just flew on by and away from me and now it’s WAY harder than it would’ve been at 34.
I‘m 33 turning 34 in december. Girl if not now when? I left my boyfriend After 12 years instead of getting married and having kids because he used to get aggressiv very easily and I couldn’t imagine staying forever in such an envoirment. So I have a Bachelors degree in germany and I am looking for a new Job Right now and a new Home for myself. I start all over and everyone unhappy should!
I am 36, and I felt lost and stuck too, that scares me. Your channel is a beacon of hope, reminding me that there's so much to look forward to. I have faith in what's next! Good luck with your move, and can't wait for your updates Poppy ❤!
@nylejnyla I can 100% understand… I am feeling so incredibly lost at the moment, I am learning to ice skate but as a 36 yr old even though this is the only thing that brings me “hope” when everything else in my life is stagnant and ai times I feel so judged… prob my own insecurities but I feel that people must think I am childish for getting excited to skate while they are buying houses and starting businesses
Im 39, and moved from chile to france, to explore life, with a new job, language, and now im quit my job, and continue to explore what are my passions, and what i want to do on life ! It takes courage to do this! Congratulations!
how do you do it? I lost my job since aug 23 and I have been in shambles since. Everyone told me to enjoy the time, and it's true that many months have passed. But even though its been months since my layoff, I've been worried and dreading every single day - not knowing when I'll finally get a job. I can 100% say that I did not rest at all during this time. I'd love to hear your perspectives on taking this leap, as I have not found the strength to give myself this grace to enjoy life as it is
I am 36 and have started my life over once every few years 😂 I hope all those who are watching this truly truly believe my words - 30s is not too old. 40s is not too old. Anyone can start a new page anytime. The ONLY thing that truly stops us from doing what we want is money and opportunity. Society can say you should do this or do that by a certain age, all they want. It’s your life to live not people around you. At 32 I moved from California to New York. Because of a new job opportunity. At 34 I moved to Canada and I’m starting over. Like the wise Natasha Bedingfield once sang, “Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.”
I'm much younger, currently 26. At 25 I decided to move across the world and start from scratch. No friends, no connections, just a job I had applied for before moving over. It's been a little under a year now and my life is completely different. I've accomplished so many goals, overcome so many challenges, and have even found love. I feel like moving was what propelled me into this future I have today -- and I am extremely thankful I made that leap of faith. Best of luck in America!
I hear you, We thrive when we’re out of our comfort zone. Moving and residing in 4 different countries these past 10 years, the personal growth is worth all the hardship.
Magical year for me 38. Settled and also baby arrived ❤ Life since then turned 180 degrees but I am for sure more happy and fulfilled and finally I have a clear purpose, my own family 🍀🥰🥳
I am a bit older than you, I moved a few times (last one is from Italy to America), had some amazing careers from Public Safety to Artist, and I am about to pivot once more. This is what I have learned: •live a 1000 lives •people who think it’s “irresponsible” is because they are uncomfortable with themselves (you can’t change them) •it’s never too late to reinvent yourself and start over •age is a state of mind not the number of years on your ID •you will find likeminded people and it’s fantastic when you do ❤️ I wish you the world!
On my 40th birthday in a month, I am moving my whole family to another country to start a new career and a new life! Talk about anxiety! Good luck with your reinvention 😊
Watching this at 24 and feeling like my life is over because I have not figured out yet what I truly want to do in life, this gave me hope and comfort. Thank you.
Oh dear.. I am 38 and start over my life again with new job and more experiences on my back. Until you reach 40 you only learn! Life starts after 40 because you have the mind and experiences. Enjoy your youth and stop worry everything will fall into place at the right time 😊
You're in your 20's your not suppose to know. You're in a try it and see phase. Try different things and do not consider anything a mistake. You are learning what you like and do not like. That alone is valuable.
Do lots of work experience (contractor temporary work on different jobs) to find out what you like. Save money where you can, keep learning You’re young you’re going to be fine xx
At 38, unmarried with no kids, I left my comfortable but autopilot job that didn't excite me anymore to pursue a Master's degree in a freezing country and change my career. I remember worrying If I made the right decision. But there was an excitement in me that something better would happen. I am now 40, single, with no kids, in a better headspace, doing a job I like, living in a country I love, with big hopes for the future. I am nowhere near figured my life out yet, and I probably never will, but I am trusting the process. You will be just fine.
Wow, how did you do that though? Did you save a lot of money before you moved? I would be quite scared to do that as I’m quite sensitive and don’t like change.
I am so thankful to have found your channel. I’ve battled my mental health for so many years and feel so lost. I’m 38 soon to be 39 and want to start my journey to recovery and living a life with purpose. I pray each and everyone who comes across your channel find the path that will lead them to a fulfilling career and life x
Hi, I don’t know what kind of mental battle you in, but I’ve been in depression, panic attacks and I’m sure a couple of psychotic breaks in the past years due too high stress and trauma. I highly recommend carnivore diet. It been a miracle for me and many others. I’m 1.5 ys in and my depression is almost gone, no anxiety, just mental peace.. I encourage you at least to take a look on TH-cam about the amazing testimonials and doctors talking about it! Wishing the best
"Starting life from scratch in your late 30s can be daunting, but it's a fresh opportunity to reboot. Ditch the old life, adapt to a new country, and switch to a new career. Focus on investing in your finances, building credit, and creating a secure future. You got this!"
I agree with you and I believe that the secret to financial stability is having the right investment ideas to enable you earn more money, I don’t know who agrees with me but either way I recommend either real estate or bitcoin and stocks.
I invested 10k in Robin hood and 401k about a year ago and it steadily went down, now my portfolio is down to $800. I don't know what to do and i am in between jobs
@@face2lune Understanding your financial needs and making effective decisions is very essential. If I could advise you, you should seek the help of a financial advisor. For the record, working with one has been the best for my finances.
I’m Glad i stumbled on this. Please, if its not too much of a hassle for you, can you drop the details of the expertise that assisted you and how to get in touch….
You’ll be fine. Mel Robert’s started her life over in her forties. Vera Wang started her amazing dress line at 40. Morgan Freeman started his acting career as an older man over forty as well. The guys who made the hit song The Macarena were older men. lol. You can do it. We can all do it. ❤
@@Mwoods2272 Feel free to subjugate yourself to that thinking if you wish. Even this "2%" you speak of starts as nothing and becomes something. And you don't need to be famous or change some industry to live a quality life.
I am 30 years old, a single mom of one son. These days I feel so down and so broke, I feel like I want to give up. But then your video popped up on my TH-cam, and your sentence hit me so hard: "Whatever you're aiming for, keep trying and you'll get there. It's just a matter of time." Thank you for sharing this video with me. I appreciate you and hope you are blessed with joy and love.
Don’t give up - you are a light for your son and you don’t know if you might be raising a future leader. Be true to yourself and don’t feel guilty for being a good mother in investing in yourself and your precious child. May you be successful, healthy and happy 🙏🏼❤️
Keep trying and look into investing but please be careful as there are a lot of scams and misleading schemes. You could lose money so be careful and find the right resources.😊
This is inspiring. I’m 29 relocating from the US to a Caribbean island all by myself while also making my next career move. I have had to navigate a lot of challenges in the past year and it’s just so overwhelming but this video gave me some reassurance. All the best on your journey!
Thank you so much. I resonated so much with this video and encouraged me. I live in London, UK and im single and 35 years old. I'm feeling comfortable here but lately I've been thinking about moving to the US and restart from scratch because I feel I need to take risks and do something else for my personal and professional growth, change environment, etc. It's great to see that same mindset and other people going through this.
I don't want to "settle" either. Even when my husband and I finally buy a house and put down roots, I don't want us to "settle" in the way a lot of people do...shutting themselves off to change and growth and new experiences for the sake of maintaining routine appearances.
If you have children they will require some stability moving around a lot is hard on them and their development. Traveling of course but constantly moving around living in new places is hard for them.. if you don’t want kids I would say go for it but if you do want a family it’s just something to consider
@@jesussaves89 I didn’t say we’d move constantly, but that we would always be open to change, new experiences, and growth. You can have a home base and still explore the world and all of its opportunities. I understand what you’re saying, though. I do think stability is good for kids. We don’t have them and we don’t plan to, though.
I am 37. And i felt you too. My plan is just go from this country next year. We need to start building our own lives again in the an other way. Keep it going for us 🎉
I’m 8 yrs older than you. Last 10 yrs I transformed myself - from living in a temple as a nun to the worldly world. I’ve been struggling in life for a big while after that since living so long in the temples. But last 3 yrs I got a new job and I love doing it very much. I can also have time to meditate as I like and freedom as I want. I don’t know what the future lies ahead but I do love what I have today even no husband and no kids. Have a fun journey in the US 😊
Hello! How are you? Good to hear your words! I would love your perspective on life as a nun vs a lay person? I am involved with a Buddhist community and I love it and often consider becoming a nun. Then I think, I can just be deeply spiritual but live with my partner in an apartment as a lay person. How have you experienced the both ways of living? X
Good luck on this adventure! I left my country at 35, without really wanting to, with 1 suitcase and 200 euros, but with intact dreams and the will and determination that I was going to achieve everything I dreamed of.
I’m 37 too and relate so much to your message. My biggest concern is financial and career related. My career is going nowhere and I need to make more money. I feel so stuck in my current situation, and having no money doesn’t help. I would love if you could touch on your career change and how to start. Good luck on your next chapter. I teared up when you cried. It is exciting to start something new, but so very emotional to leave a big part of your life behind. You’ve got this!!
Yeah, the money will solve 99% of my problems. Trying to find non conventional ways to make money because a regular 9-5 job here in our country just isn't enough for the future that I want.
Been moving between countries most of my life and to be honest I've never really wanted to ""settle down", it always felt like I would "limit" myself and my opportunities. I love the freedom and being able to travel and work at the same time (so grateful for this opportunity), yet I have a country I can call home, even though I wasn't born there. Wishing you all the best in US - starting a new chapter in life is always exciting. Love your videos 🤍
Currently 32, moving out to a new apartment, finally living alone and getting a dog! I sometimes feel stuck, seeing all my friends have kids and get married. In the Philippines there is also a pressure of being able to settle at this age, this still affects me at times. Thank you for sharing your video!
Completely empathise with you… they have backward mentality in ways that restrict to age and society’s beliefs I ignore my Filipino family and their limited beliefs and thoughts. I will continue on my own path. Cut their negativity out, they may never understand.
I just turned 30 and have been having a hard time accepting it and feeling like it is my too late but when I see you able to live your life the way you want makes me think you are so cool! keep following your dreams girl 💗 you are definitely making me see things differently
Girl , give ur self a year and that feeling will go away, and will start to accept a new chapter of ur life,I I just turn 32 and i feel much better now
I am turning 30 soon. There is no need to regret the past as it is a part of your life and your story. What you will do and what you have done is what you were going to do and would have done because all people always make the best decisions in their lives at that point in their life.
This resonated with me so deeply! I have done the same, moved from Australia to Europe at 36 this year. Moving out of Australia was my dream for years and I was feeling so stuck and lost. This year I finally took the plunge and left everything I knew. Now thinking of an entirely new career and life here in Europe. I am both scared and optimistic for the future. Thank you so much for sharing. Good luck!
I think it's really amazing that you are able to start over, I was 27 when I moved to another state from everything I have ever known and am still "establishing" I suppose. In this time since I have started over and moved and changed jobs and everything, so much has come from it - I met my person, I am working to build a life I have always wanted and its like I am rediscovering myself for the first time here again. Never stop starting over from scratch, like code or even art there are many iterations of the best version of you! Which I am still trying to give grace to. Love your content, thank you for motivating me as well. It's easy to become complacent.
Am so grateful that I found your channel, I am currently going throught the transition form my 20s to 30s its hard but am realising and learning at this point is that you can build yourself up in a soft way. I think that everyone is just on the hurry up and make it happen and forgetting to take care of themselves!
Beautifully said,I am very happy to see ladies understanding that 38 is not old to start over,we have a whole life ahead of us. Congratulations to your new chapter, wishing you peace and more self discovery
thank you so much for this video. I don't know you but your video came up randomly. I will be 36 in July and I have struggled to change my career for years. I finally went back to uni a year ago to pursue my passion but I have been totally depressed because I have had no lack in finding any job at all. I left a career were I was stable and had good income(but was so stressed I could not sleep at night) but now am back living with my parents cause I can't find a job. I keep trying but nothing seem to work. For society and many people around me, I am crazy cause I refuse to go back to my previous job and often I question myself too. I hope something will change soon. Changing successfully career at our age is not that easy and what is worse is the way all this is making me feel ashamed and like a big failure. Thanks for your words. They made me feel a bit better.
You’re not a failure, you’re a hero! It’s inspiring that you left something that didn’t suit you and you started at the bottom. That’s fine. At least you get to spend time with your parents. Just keep trying, mix with people and make friends and they could open doors for you in the career you want. Try and get a non paying work experience in the field you want to get into
@@scarlettkhan9667 Thank you so much for your kind words. I am not sure how things will go from now on, but at least I have found an other job in the meantime and don't feel absolutely useless. For all the people that continue to struggle: do not give up. Even if I am still struggling I do not regret quitting my previous stable job because it was not sustainable. I gave myself an other chance. We all deserve it.
It's so sad that we have boxed ourselves in a perceived category as per society..... go to school-get a degree-get a job-get married-have kids-retire-die. If you are a certain age and don't reach certain goals , then people start badgering you. I wish people practiced the adage - live and let live !!!! No1 ... I repeat , no1 should be made to feel guilty of where they are in life... as long as you are happy and hustling and working hard for your happiness , you do you.
Thank you for making this video, it came up as a suggestion in my notifications, I’m not even subscribed to your channel. I’m sure that this is some kind of message to change my perspective, I’m living in my father's house with comforts and I am afraid to leave because I don't have a job, and what is limiting me right now are material things. When you mentioned that the environment doesn’t allow you to develop as a person, something woke up in me since I don’t have the freedom to do what I’d like. You made me understand that it’s not about material things and comprehend the true importance of changing people and places. Thank you for making this video, it helped me more than you imagine.
I love seeing people self-aware and dedicated to personal growth, so much so that they can recognize within themselves when they're being complacent and then challenge themselves to make a significant change. Best of luck with your move and next chapter in your book of life ✨🦋
Who cares about others' expectations about where you should be at this point in your life. It takes guts to make a change at any point in your life, so good for you. I hope things work out for you in your new career.
I love videos like this where someone is just being open and honest, and sharing their personal decisions and experiences. I also love reading the comments that are simply cheering someone on, hoping that they find what they're looking for and live their best life that is true to who they are. No judgment, just valuing someone's own journey.
I love watching videos like this cos it resonates with me so well! Was just chastising myself for not moving to a new country in 2016 when I had the financial capacity to do. This video(and the comments) made me realize it’s never too late!
There has never been any greater joy in my life than to be a father. No job in this planet would have substituted that joy. Being a father gave meaning to my life.
Hi, I'll be 38 this year! I got laid off last October and still trying to get a new job. I feel I'm losing hope as all this job hunting is mentally draining. I'm thinking maybe it's time I should consider relocating. I'm from the UK and living in Hong Kong and I can understand your pov! Good luck and wish u all the best girl!
Your story resonates with me. I oddly uprooted myself at the same age as you just a few years ago to pursue my dream to go back to graduate school. It may have seemed irresponsible to others, but despite the challenge of quitting my job and leaving my home, I’ve received so many blessings and met people that have changed my life forever. Thank you for your video and courage to inspire others. 🙏🙏
At the same stage thinking to go back to graduate school start a new life. But not sure of how it will be to study in your late 30s. I guess it will be all okay :)
@@LifeSimpleJoys I feel it is better in your 30’s. You’re more mature, focused, and purposeful. Your network and relationships will be deeper, and I think your growth will be much faster. Good luck!
I am a male, single, of the same age as yours and found myself watching this video and relating to each and every word you said. I just moved to Dubai to try to make a living. I had everything in my home country, cars, high rank title, nice office, a lot of friends, etc but early part of this year, I have lost everything... Except for the love of my parents and siblings. I'm trying to regain that confidence and start all over again. I am sure that one day, the Lord God will pave way to the plans He has for me. I am keeping my FAITH. ❤
Wow now you have so much space for new friendships & experiences. Try to surround yourself with people ahead of you in life. And consume lots of wholesome content about the new country, it will subconsciously train your brain for positive experiences. Goodluck.
Truly Jesus is a living God. Just last Monday, i started with my new job as an Head of Operations. I was just asking for a job but he gave me more than that after 7 months of the waiting season. There are times i want to give up but he kept on reminding me about FAITH through scriptures, videos on youtube and songs. I pray and declare blessings upon blessing, healing and miracle for people who reads this comment. God will grant your heart's desire in His perfect timing. I love you Lord and praise your name above all names. ❤️🙏
I am turning 38 this year and really admire and commend you. I really hope to have your peaceful confidence and courage. I also am a married, dog mom without the ‘conventional’ nuclear family but am so at peace being with my little family. I look at you and I know that it’s possible to be happy. You’re amazing. Hope your fur baby is ok and settled in usa❤
I'm 38, too, and this has been the most challenging year (personally and professionally) for me. I'm ready to make some changes soon. Best wishes to you!
I’m here because my partner and I are moving across country to move in with my sister and her family. I never thought that right before my 40th birthday this would be what we are doing. It’s the only way we can see as two successful persons with degrees and long term careers as how to open opportunities and move away from some of the hardships we shed from our childhood and 20s. We are ready for adventure but also just want some reassurances and to know we will have security and stability. What you said resonated. This place is no longer serving us for our personal growth and growth as a couple. So…we are moving across the country!!
I have come across your video and it resembles what I have done since I was 25 years old. I have lived in Thailand for 5 years teaching and now have moved to Australia doing my Masters. As overwhelming as it can be it is very full filling when you are able make that decision for your self. But now I am in my early 30’s I started questioning myself if I want to settle here or move somewhere else😀 I wish you all the best for your future endeavours.
I'm so glad I found your video, I'm just entering my 30s and soon will be moving to a different country with a different work path, I was unsure and scared as well but you gave me courage to push forward :) thankyouuu!
This is so relatable. Making a big step towards something new is so intimidating but often times its worth the shot. "Failures" build you, an accomplishment towards something greater
Hi Poppy! I am turning 38 as of tomorrow (in a few hours)! And your video popped up and I believe the universe is also sending me a message with this! Your video really resonated with me. That fear you mention... so REAL and I know it to well! I just have to remind myself to trust the path. Thank you for sharing this and showing your vulnerability. Best wishes and congratulations with your next journey of life! You are deserving! P.S This is my first comment ever on TH-cam, I went against my grain X
OMG I NEEDED IT SO MUCH ! I just turned 38, my now ex boyfriend ghosted me 5 months ago after 9 years of relationship, while we were still leaving together. I'm trying to leave Paris and eventually France, thi video helps me in so many ways, thank you from the bottom of my heart !!
I feel related. I've also lived in different countries and I feel like the place I am in now has an upcoming expiration date. It's harder now to put this into reality, because all those moves I did in my 20s. Debt, family, work, relationships make it more complicated now. I read The Alchemist recently and there was something that resonated a lot in me and it was about how everything we do is a decision we made and many times obstacles are obstacles because we decided they are. I'm definitely giving it more thought now, but I am preparing for the next journey ahead.
I applaud you for having the courage to start over despite uncertainty! 👏🏾 I'll be going on my 1st solo trip overseas to Japan later this fall after years of wishing and talking about it. I'm terrified of all the what ifs, but I'm going to accept the fear and move forward instead of allowing it to keep me from doing what I've wanted to do for so long.
I loved this. I moved from South Africa to the Netherlands at 38 and solo and had lived in two different countries before that also. This time the pressure felt more heavy and daunting largely because I think I let societal pressures get to me. But I also didn't want to stay in a country that didn't serve me as you said. It was either stay there and hope for the best or proactively do something different again. I loved your video and salute. ❤
Girl as a 37 year old - I deeply relate. Our lives are our own to design. I agree that settling in something just bc other people said so isn't a good enough reason for me.
So much of your ideas resonate deeply on Simon Sinek Growth Mindset. You are a perfect example of this. I like to see more of your path through life. What a shame an other guy did capture your heart. Have much success on your way.
It’s so good to see this and read some of the comments! In summer 2020 my two year live-in artist residency contract ended so despite England’s guidelines saying you couldn’t kick anyone out, I asked to extend my stay by a month and was told no. I applied and was accepted to do a PhD in Scotland while house sitting in Ireland but with the pervasive lockdowns I would not have been able to access the uni studio or supervisors in person so I made the tough decision to return to Canada to help with my elderly parents. After years of living in several countries and doing artist residencies in order to continue to evolve as an artist, I found myself grounded in a place that the circumstances provided. Three years later, some great things have happened but I’ve spent lots of time admonishing myself for my years of wanderings, what others see as instability, and now, after putting together a museum exhibition I’m ready to find home. It is so helpful hearing the stories of others and how they manage to stay focused and evolve. Thank you!
I change country two years ago and are living in France now. Definitely the most challenging period of my life! Becoming a mom , learning the language, integrating, adapting, accepting the weather 24/7 😅☔️☔️☔️ omg was a lot to pressed but i can say that finally after 3years i start feeling better here. Also i’m 36 years old , and this is something that is coming from the person who traveled the world 🌎. Is not easy but but you need 3 to 5 years to integrate and adapt ( it’s a long process ) but it’s totally worth it! Good luck 💕💕💕
Thanks for this video. It's true what you said about failure. Sometimes things don't work out how we want, but that doesn't mean they are failures. They are great opportunities to learn. And even if it doesn't look like we are making any progress, we are. The process is different for everyone, and we shouldn't judge others or ourselves at any time.
I'm 38 and the urge to move away from Canada is immense, no savings to my name, married and also lonely at the same time. I'm thinking of returning to the UK where I did my masters, I loved living in Scotland during grad school. You being 38 just resonated something in me and my desire to reinvent and reconnect with myself again.
I stumbled across your video and we have so much in common! I’m 38, married no kids. I moved to the US from UK 9 months ago. I have lived in Thailand, UK and now US. I have changed my career this year. Wish you the best of luck na ka.
Society has created so much of an unconditional way of living and thinking. They’ve successfully brain washed lots of if not all humans to live up to that manuscript. Everyone curate a life accordingly , taking a leap or following your inner voice that echos fear, well it’s because the society made sure you developed an emotion when time like this present itself in your life. You may not believe into that fear that trying hard to talk you down but your conscious doesn’t unsee it. That’s why we cry and express sadness and fear. I applaud you for your courage. Freedom comes with courage and you my friend have that. I’m 44 and I’m still figuring it out. I’m excited to venture and create new opportunities and dive deep in things that appeal to me. Work towards my own guidance and set of rules, I’ll let them talk and form their opinions while I enjoy my venture. Best wishes on your new exciting journey, brave people make changes and brave people live with courage❤️
So great you created this video! Thank you so much for your example! Definitely there are more and more people who care about themselves and start thinking critically… Who said that settle down brings happiness and wealth - it can bring deep depression which is worth! Wishing you a great journey and lots of success! You are the best! ❤
"Absolutely captivating video, I must say, the introspection is simply riveting. It's all about striving to be the best version of oneself, and I couldn't agree more. It's truly remarkable how much a person can transform in just five years. The journey of self-improvement is a lifelong process, and it's wonderful to see people embracing it. Kudos to the creator for sharing such an inspiring message!"
I am 38 and I started over 2 years ago! It was sooo hard but it was also sooo worth it too! I felt stuck and unfulfilled with my life and now I enjoy my new life. I am also from WV originally so I love that you have a WVU mountaineers blanket! I have the same one! 😀
That’s amazing! Starting over is definitely tough, but so rewarding when you find what truly fulfills you. And I love that we share the same WV pride! 💙💛
Im turning 30 later this year and it's incredibly daunting and scary because I still dont have a clue what i want to do in life in terms of my career. I'm also single and can't see that changing any time soon because of my lack of social life. I think it's comforting to know that others are experiencing the same problems. I don't think I've seen the best version of myself since i was in university. I've wanted to live in another country to push myself out of my comfort zone, but I've been too lazy and procrastinate too much, so it never happened. I hope we can all find that drive and ambition that we need in life
I completely understand how you feel-I’m in a similar situation myself. Turning 30 can be intimidating, especially when career and personal life goals feel uncertain. It’s comforting to know we’re not alone in this. Just remember, it’s never too late to push yourself out of your comfort zone and take small steps towards your dreams. We’ll find that drive and ambition together. You’ve got this!
@@g.quotes.oat1894 I'm really sorry to hear about your relationship and job-both of those are incredibly tough to go through. It sounds like a challenging time, but thinking about going abroad could be a fantastic way to start fresh and find new opportunities. It's great to see your determination and optimism. We absolutely can do this! Sometimes these big changes can lead to the most rewarding experiences. Stay strong, and know that you're not alone. We're in this together!
@@g.quotes.oat1894 travelling is a great way to just escape and take some time for ourselves. I'd suggest doing it sooner rather than later though because the longer you leave it, the more you'll try and convince yourself that you don't need to go..
My very best wishes to you Poppy. What you're doing is great and I'm sure you'll do well. I'm 60+ and have lived / worked in over 20 countries (including Thailand) though 5 careers (more or less 😅). And thinking about moving to Spain next year. Never regretted a single move. Some were worse than others but all a learning experience.
Hi Poppy! My journey feels so similar to you. I moved on from my job and have been reinventing myself and understanding myself better over the past months. Nothing is as beautiful as defining happiness for oneself rather than running behind the society’s notions of it. I’m Living that happiness now. ❤
I am in same situation as you are right now. End of month, we are moving to different city, we will rent a house for a first time in my life. New job, new position that I never had before. The mix of feelings and emotions is so real. When we got this opportunity, I said no. Then I sat on the thought and I think the same. Not always but often is good and better to just do things against the fear we feel. And same as you, I just hope that this is going to work out as it did in a past. Good Luck! 🍀
This video resonates with me in so many ways. I love how you reflect on the path of life. I recently turned 30 and life has been really scary since because of all the expectations that people throw at me. I am far away from being settled but I am glad that I have the chance to pursue my dreams now. I am still on the way to build up my career towards that goal and I think that it is really important to be kind to yourself while consistently trying your best.
I find your progress so relatable and satisfying. Your editing also makes me feel peaceful and reflective. There are so many wonderful changes happening in my life and your videos are reminding me to slow down and handle these shifts with maturity and consistency.
Beautiful video my friend. I must have said thank you quite a few times on your previous videos, but I won't stop saying thank you for the insight you continue to provide. Might have mentioned I'm 36 myself, trying my best to change my destiny. And your encouraging words have been on my mind for many days since I stumbled upon your channel. Enjoy yourself in the USA Poppy. I wish you all the best, and hope you continue to share the chapters of your life with the universe. I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say that you truly are helping people with what you have to say. And the quote you have for a tattoo is just a remarkable statement I'm glad I heard today of all the days. Best regards from Macau, and thank you again :)
Cheers and good luck It’s funny. I’m 42, grew up in Thailand (though in American), came back to the states for college and business, and now looking to sell my business and relocate to Thailand with wife (Vietnamese but spent her whole life here in the states) and kid. Life is a strange journey, and sometimes things happen in life which can be the spark which send you on a completely different trajectory. Enjoy the ride, and without challenges there are no victories. Best of luck! We are just beginning our journey of wanting to move overseas with the family (maybe 4 or 5 years out). So we have a long road and patience and planning ahead
I’m 37 with 3 children. Seriously thinking about relocating. I live in a state no where near family and it’s hard. Videos like yours has been popping up on my timeline so I will take it as a sign.
From everyone who say am starting over, remember you are starting with experience and that makes a lot of difference. Wishing you well in your journey ❤
Thank you for your video and your words! It was very timely for me! Sometimes we don't know what is the best decision to make. But actually everything happens at the right time. We just need to be patient and keep going🧡
I just turned 36 and I’m in the process of changing careers, from logistics to tech (completely different industry) and I moved to the UK 3 years ago. I totally relate with your situation
I’m gonna be 36. I’m not moving countries, but I’m moving out of the city I’ve lived in for 9 years. I tried to be happy here but I’m not. My friends have moved on, I never found a woman to love, and my job is good but it’s too far. I always see moving apartments is a new beginning and I’m looking forward to another soft restart

Impressive! How can I contact this advisor? My portfolio has underperformed, and I need guidance.
This was a very relatable comment, I wish you the best on your journey 💗
Everything is going to be all right. Human intelligence is so developed that you only need a very small portion of it to make a living. This is not going to be a problem at all. Check out what Sadhguru speaks about this
👏 I applaud your AMAZING perseverance and attitude. This in of itself is a huge asset!
Very relatable, although I’m 26 I still feel like my life isn’t together and I don’t know what to do with it. Living in London is difficult, I want to change careers but the job market isn’t great at the moment. Rejections after rejections.
@@MotoM0nk I have no idea how to use that small portion to make a living. Any good ideas?
Wow, her track record looks really good from what I found online. I'll take a chance and see how it goes. Thanks for the info
I needed to read this.
Congratulations!! I am in a similar situation as you BUT really scared to make this step. Wishing you well

However, this conversation is about those who are making different choices and overcoming those fears.

I agree with you and I believe that the secret to financial stability is having the right investment ideas to enable you earn more money, I don’t know who agrees with me but either way I recommend either real estate or bitcoin and stocks.

I am 30 years old, a single mom of one son. These days I feel so down and so broke, I feel like I want to give up. But then your video popped up on my TH-cam, and your sentence hit me so hard: "Whatever you're aiming for, keep trying and you'll get there. It's just a matter of time."
Thank you for sharing this video with me. I appreciate you and hope you are blessed with joy and love.

Girl, Amen!
I’m with you, settling in not in our vocabulary either. Expat lifestyle has been the best decision we’ve ever made.
Don't settle. Trust me. I settled and I hate myself for it.
You’ve got this!!
you are not alon. I feel the same, stuck in like but for moving on I need more money but it is soo hard. Stuck on there also, how to make more money.
I am also 37 and have zero income 😢😢😢
Same 😢
Yeah, the money will solve 99% of my problems. Trying to find non conventional ways to make money because a regular 9-5 job here in our country just isn't enough for the future that I want.
Same boat
Been moving between countries most of my life and to be honest I've never really wanted to ""settle down", it always felt like I would "limit" myself and my opportunities. I love the freedom and being able to travel and work at the same time (so grateful for this opportunity), yet I have a country I can call home, even though I wasn't born there. Wishing you all the best in US - starting a new chapter in life is always exciting. Love your videos 🤍
Totally Agree, when a door opens go for it! Living in Asia, Europe and the Middle East has opened my eyes to the greater world.
Thank you for this video! I am 37 and I wanna start a new life from scratch too💯💛
Do it!!! Everything will fall into place.
I just turned 30 and have been having a hard time accepting it and feeling like it is my too late but when I see you able to live your life the way you want makes me think you are so cool! keep following your dreams girl 💗 you are definitely making me see things differently
I just turned 30 too and I feel the same way!
I’m 39 and I am starting over again and I am so looking forward to it. I absolutely love your thoughts ❤❤
Im 29 and feeling unsure or what’s next decade going to be. Happy to stumble upon ur channel!
Beautifully said,I am very happy to see ladies understanding that 38 is not old to start over,we have a whole life ahead of us. Congratulations to your new chapter, wishing you peace and more self discovery
Congratulations on the leap. I am 40 and will be moving continent myself. Alone! You're brave. I too will share my journey soon.
thank you so much for this video.
You’re not starting over, you’re showing up to this next phase in life with experience.
That is exactly right and what I just spoke about in one of my recent videos.
30s - 50s and 4 different countries, 20 years later Im now back in the UK. Ive given it a go but really cant wait to leave again (and I will!)
I love seeing people self-aware and dedicated to personal growth, so much so that they can recognize within themselves when they're being complacent and then challenge themselves to make a significant change. Best of luck with your move and next chapter in your book of life ✨🦋

I love videos like this where someone is just being open and honest, and sharing their personal decisions and experiences. I also love reading the comments that are simply cheering someone on, hoping that they find what they're looking for and live their best life that is true to who they are.
Its so inspiring. I m 22 right now and regretting my major right now. You give me motivation.

Similar to you, I am Australian born Vietnamese lived in London, Paris, and Dubai, pivoted my career just shy of 2 years and been feel some friction the past month. I know I need to take action.

I've had the same dream of doing this myself! Good luck to you - hope it goes well :)

I needed this video and all these comments…thank you all, you have no idea what you’ve done for me ❤
From everyone who say am starting over, remember you are starting with experience and that makes a lot of difference. Wishing you well in your journey ❤
Good point! Great to keep in mind. Thanks.
What did you study to work in logistics?
I’m gonna be 36. I’m not moving countries, but I’m moving out of the city I’ve lived in for 9 years. I tried to be happy here but I’m not. My friends have moved on, I never found a woman to love, and my job is good but it’s too far. I always see moving apartments is a new beginning and I’m looking forward to another soft restart
Hi Poppy! Congratulations on your new decision and career! I'm a TH-cam creator from the US. I welcome you! Thank you for putting out great content that I can listen to while I do my costume making business. I consider you one of my go-to podcast type channels. It's nice seeing your views and similar eating style. Keep up the great work!
I settled in New Zealand for 15 years now and never regret 1second about it. changing and exploration are good but need to consider everything. base on the facts, financial, environment , people the old place vs new place ( that is the catch) . Think carefully before you do and be careful what you wish for, good luck to all
it takes alot of courage to change careers and to move, you are living your life so well done to you for making changes as you see fit to do. good luck with all your set out to do, you are amazing
Good luck! I’m 38 as well and have similar experience to start over.
