Do you have any UFOs in your house!? 🛸🧐 Please give this video a like and comment below to let us know! UPDATE: since so many of you asked, here is the patio set: bit.ly/40dWCY5
I tape extra screws, etc from furniture parts to the back or bottom of the furniture. It’s out of the way and you’ll have it if you need it, especially if it’s an odd shape or size part.😎
Anyone else see a video and then immediately go and do a bit of decluttering and cleaning? I find my biggest hurdle is motivation, and these videos are a huge motivation boost.
Even if the pans are worn out the lids can still be useful to someone. I broke my frying pan's glass lid and was so happy to find a replacement at the thrift store.
We had a frying pan at Work done it’s time and needed the bin. So they threw out. and the lid was just hanging around for months then my sister told me she smashed hers so I asked the boss. Could I take it home? He said yes if it’s still here take it.

@@Hope-MareeGodwin-Tatnell There are fry pan lids sold that adjust to several sizes. I have had mine for decades.
@@nailguncrouch1017 Yes so true. Keep those glass lids, Im still waiting for a particular one to turn up on facebook. Its a glass dome lid for a pink ruby band Americana glass decanter. Also light fittings - glass pieces etc may have broken and someone is waiting for the right piece to turn up.
There's a lightweight rain jacket that my husband and I have had since we were dating at 13 & 15. We both wore it and shared it and we still have it. I told him I wanted to be buried in it. It's probably out most sentimental item we own but it doesn't take up much space. We have had it 22 years!
Twice now, within a week of giving up and tossing a "UFO", I learned it was actually a very important piece to something that I actually use... but just hadn't for a year... like a piece to hold the blades in my food processor :(
I wouldn't throw away random screws, especially machine screws. They are small, and if you need them, you have to buy 100 pcs. you can put them in a screw organizer box.
I have a jar called "to be sorted later" of the dozens of screws I find, and occasionally sort them into an organiser box. DO throw away screws with stripped heads etc though
The fastenings that come with self-assemble furniture can be very hard to replace. Taping the bag of spare screws to the underside of the item they belong to can save a lot of inconvenience later - and they're out of sight, not taking up storage space anywhere. I also keep the piece of cardboard box that has the name and bar code of the bed frame, on the slats under the foot of mattress. It's not taking up any usable space, and if we want to buy another bed frame that will match, we'll need that information.
the biggest thing i DONT follow as a mostly minimalist, is the "multiple" rules. i have diagnosed ADHD and having multiple lip balms, on my desk, in my bag, in my bed etc really helps me so that i dont misplace them or forget them. same goes for some kitchen gadgets like spatulas, it really helps me, so im really happy you mentioned the "its different for everyone" thing
#3 I'm totally one of the people who keeps two funeral dresses (one summer, one winter) that I haven't worn in years. When the time comes that I need one, I'm not going to want to go shopping. I used to also keep two nice dresses for weddings, but that's also very infrequent at my stage of life and if I ever do need another one I'm sure I'll enjoy shopping for it.
Definitely! My grandpa died when I was 16, and it was the beginning of June in a heat wave. Finding a black dress was just plain awful! To this day, I keep a nice summer dress that is appropriate for funerals. Sadly it was used three times already before COVID, and then, well... For winters I keep a nice dress pant with a classic black turtleneck, which always looks chic, and doesn't need a scarf. I also keep one wedding appropriate dress for summers.

I wear dress pants and blazer to funerals or church, so after retirement in '09, I donated any dresses and skirts to House of Ruth for women. We don' attend weddings at our age now.
I can't throw out a perfectly good gift bag. In the last year or so I realized that one of our local special needs organizations takes donations of gift wrapping materials that they use for their birthday and Christmas parties... game changer!
It‘s hard for me to just throw away thinks, because they are not trash at all. So to get rid off all this clutter I startet four years ago with a little box, a small table and a sign at my driveway to give away those things. This year I added a tomato greenhouse, placed that table in it (to protect the things from rain). It helps me a lot to put all those little items immediately out on that table. …. tablecloth, Books, vases, pens, games, flower pots, …. and lots more. To see, that people happily took those things, have conversations with them was a joyfull side effect. I had to clear out my parents house (my and my siblings childhood home) all on my own with just a little help. That was an expirience I don‘t want my child to go through some day….
😊 About once a month we put "stuff" on the curb with a FREE sign on it. Never sticks around for more than 4 hours. I'm always glad to see someone else that can use it.
@ thats a great feeling. My little table gets out from March to November every day (depends on the weather). In the evenings when I put the stuff inside I always feel glad about how much is gone 😀
I have the hardest time passing up free stuff, but I have been able to declutter things from my home by helping my best friend decorate her three airbnb’s 👍🏼

When decluttering, I pass things on to several group homes. Empty plastic containers can be used for crafts or school supplies. Hubby's clothes that he got tired of went to adult disability group home. Household items can also be donated.
I seem to be a container addict! I save all sorts of containers and boxes!! I have recently decluttered the house and all empty containers and boxes gotten rid of! I promised myself that if I needed a container I would buy something nice that fit the need. I haven't needed to buy any containers yet!
For me its about being realistic about what kind of person I am. I am not DYIer (specifically upcycling furniture), im not someone who uses styling tools on my hair, Im not an elaborate board game player (think Settlers or Catan), so ive really been working on letting those things go and trying to accept that I am really not going to invent these personalities one day 😅
Omg!! Such good advice! I have a basement full of other people’s things. Brother asked if he could store a few things for a year while he was out of the country. I didn’t expect a full U-Haul truck! Then a one year trip turned into ten, then 20 years! I finally gave him a deadline and started tossing
For a slight twist and sustainability when it comes to socks: socks with holes or mismatched socks can be washed one more time and make great rags for the kitchen, bathroom, or baseboards. I've been working hard to be a more conscious consumer and it is crazy how many products can be repurposed or up-cycled for sustainability! I do this with old socks, old shirts, old towels, just cut the bigger things and use for rags that you can toss after a cleaning day or if there's a big mess (kids and pets are always creating those lol). Love the channel and look forward to more inspiration (:
Once I acquired a huge box of rags from my rag guy (recycled hospital bed sheets) all the extra socks I'd accumulated for 10plus years went into the garbage.
This is so true!! We use too many paper towels, but certain pet messes I don't want to use cleaning rags. However,an old sock that could be trashed after cleaning a pet mess would save on paper towels!
I just started your video and your mytery item is the cover cap for a spray bottle. Your empty container is perfect for storing left over paint so you don't have to keep the whole big can.
If you are tossing pots or pans with lids take those lids to a thrift shop if they’re still in usable condition. It’s easy to find pots w/o lids, but hard to find lids when you need them.
Getting rid of unwanted things that come with things I’ve bought, of just in case things I’ve never used or needed, easy do’s. My challenge, finding the courage to sort/recycle the decades worth of unidentifiable cords, electronic stuff in my (admittedly) irrational fear that I will discard something important/irreplaceable. Most of the rest I’ve done or am doing. Thank you
Although I've decluttered my wardrobe many times over the years, I just couldn't bear getting rid of any of my (30+) hats - that is, up until recently! Since I retired a few years ago, I've let my hair grow (it was always short during my working years), and now I wear my long hair in a chignon, or in a bun, and there's just no way I can wear hats with my new hairstyle. So the hats - and the hat boxes - are finally gone (to a worthy organization), but I have photos of me over the years wearing those hats as a lovely memory of them!
If you sell a Roku or similar device, remember to take out your credit card information and log out! I bought a Roku and when it was connected, all the previous user's information was right there! Good thing for her I am honest and deleted everything and logged out of her account, and logged into mine,
I feel great that most of these categories I have already taken care of. I've been shooting for minimal-ish and am so close, but the one category that has me is storing other people's things. I've been able to shed my parents' things after they passed, my sister's things that she left behind when she moved across the country 30+ years ago, but my one rough spot is my eldest son. He moved out in July but still has a bunch of stuff in my second bedroom. He gets very stressed when dealing with stuff so I've given him the next few months to work on his new place and then asked that we resume clearing his things out in January. Once that is done I will have a near minimal place and I am so looking forward to it. =)
It took me 10 years but I can now fit into my classic 'skinny' wardrobe again ‼️💪 .. I ditched the worn out make -do fat clothes and now I am stylin' at the Seniors Center 💃
I think that's realistic. So long as he works on it a bit at a time over those couple of months, instead of avoiding it until zero hour, it shouldn't be too stressful.
Because playing your videos motivates me, I ended up creating 'Decluttering' playlist with a lot of your decluttering videos (and some others for ADHD hacks). Whenever I need to do my unfavourite house chores, I play this playlist. I feel motivated & also like that I can't play with my phone while playing TH-cam! lol You don't push your methods like an instruction manual, yet your framework makes sense, you don't upsell any unnecessary products and you're talking just to purely motivate us to declutter. ✨ Thank you so much for creating this channel!
I have 2 places I store repurposing containers. Every 3-4 months I go through them, recycle the glass and cardboard items, then toss everything else. I tend to keep a lot of containers for later use. I still have a cardboard box with a lid that's about 45 years old. I'm a little bit of a hoarder with containers (like you). I repair holes in jeans using Sashiko visible mending techniques. My husband and grandchildren love their refurbished pants. They make quite the statement. btw I love your outdoor furniture.
Thanks for mentioning that the advice may not be best for everyone, especially when it comes to clothing. I have lots of clothes in my closet I haven’t worn in over a year but it’s because I was pregnant and now breastfeeding. There have been some I got rid of postpartum because I knew my style has changed, but others I simply don’t wear because it’s so much more difficult to feed a baby while wearing them 😂
Maternity clothes, too. It might be several years between pregnancies, but as with special outfits for weddings and funerals, if you anticipate needing them again, it's worth keeping them.
You just helped me with something I've been having a hard time with for years - to get rid of unfinished crafting projects. Thank you thank you thank you!
I once found a quilt top in a thrift store - it was pieced together, but the appliqué design had not been added. I bought that quilt, added the designs, and backed it, then quilted it. I even used sheets for the backing, from the same thrift store. The whole lot cost me $20 !
Oh my gosh your face when taking a ride on the standing desk was just golden. Such a fun moment!! Thanks for sharing these amazing tips and your life with us!
Back in 1998, my oldest brother got married. At some point they moved and my sister-in-law asked my mom to get rid of a carton of records they no longer wanted. Fast-forward to her death in 2017 and we're cleaning out the basement: sis-in-law found the carton of records. SHE WAS MAD. Those records moved with us TWICE when they were supposed to go to Goodwill or the pawn shop or somewhere else for someone to enjoy. Not sit collecting dust on THREE different basements. Mom loved playing storage keeper, even though NO one was asking her too. Everyone asked her to get rid of things. Everyone.
I think I have that exact same ruched one-piece in red. I wear it with little snug swim shorts. I feel better with more coverage, just as a personal preference. After a while I’ll put on a rash guard to avoid having to reapply sunscreen. I just wore a dress I haven’t worn in years because I finally found lacy leggings to wear underneath in the cold and still look fancy. Consider what would make you want to use an item that you have kept in your closet but haven’t worn. At the same time, when I wore the dress, I concluded that I had outgrown the style. I’ve been thinking about what Shawna Ripari, and Alexa of Conscious Consumerism have said, that using an object makes it more clear as to whether you would like to keep it or not .
My twins moved out but have a lot in their room but now one of them is putting things in her brothers room who is married and it's becoming a junk drawer. I get that her apartment is small but at least 1/2 of these things are "I don't know if I want" and we are having a lunch/declutter soon. Our neighborhood has a "free day" once a year, you put out items you don't want to sell and it's very popular. Things go to a good home and no Goodwill or charity run.
Love and appreciate you and your channel while my husband and I continue our minimalism journey. We are always in awe of what we learn throughout our now three years of practicing simple living and minimalism mindsets. Thanks for sharing your journey and lessons!
Right now I have this bin sitting on my kitchen counter that is supposed to be a small garbage receptacle for food scraps, etc. I haven't used it in ages. I need to run it through the dishwasher and donate it. Thanks for the reminder!!!
I also save boxes of all sorts and fancy packaging, Ive kept a heavy cotton drawstring bag for 8 years. Never used it 😭 Obviously never needed it. Its honestly so freeing to let these things go even though I want to enjoy them. It stresses me when they dont have a purpose.
One trick that I came up with for those small little hooks or that come with something that you put together or a camera with those kinds of things, is that I put them in a small clear sandwich bag or a snack bag with a note that says what it goes to and the color if that's helpful or any other details. Then if I come across it later and I realize that that original item is gone I wouldn't have a problem discarding and I wouldn't have to think about what it is. Sometimes I also tape small items to the bottom of a product so that I know where they go and what they're for.
In regard to screws and such, get a Stanley organizer box and put all the screws, nails and small items around the house in there. it´s super handy and you will never need to drive to the hardware store and buy some small items like that. It´s super useful, I have like 6 of those organizers neatly stored away they can be stacked for instance.
I haven't been able to get rid of the dresses I wore to my kids weddings. I probably won't wear them again but I like looking at them. I've pared down my wardrobe to things I actually wear so two extra dresses are okay with me.
I've got a pair of shoes like this! They're my Dorothy shoes (red, shiny) and they make me so happy to see them in my wardrobe :) I've completely stopped wearing anything with even the slightest heel so I'll never wear them again, but they're wardrobe decoration ;)
I’m in no way aiming for a minimalist life but definitely working on clearing out clutter. Definitely donate clothes sometimes but a lot of the time I hold onto the pieces I don’t want until the once a year clothing exchange I do with my cousins. Letting go of clothes can be easier when you actually see someone else using and loving it.
As a fellow minimalist, I started this video feeling quite smug that I'd no doubt have no of these things... I'm now sheepishly kicking shut the kitchen drawer that has several empty cleaned out moisturiser tubs with their labels peeled off, ready for "storage", ha ha xx
Tip to avoid UFOs that come with items you're buying (e.g. the ikea hooks, extra screws, a special sized screw-driver that comes with a piece of furniture, replacement parts etc.): put them in a small zip-bag, tag the bag with what this is and what it's for and then store it in a bin or a drawer that is reserved for these items only. That way, when you're looking for one of these, you'll know where to find it, and also when decluttering you'll know what this is and if you can, like those unused hooks, declutter it or whether there's a risk that you actually might need this later.
Our mug problem solved itself last week when a moving box full of glasses and mugs fell off a stack while moving 😬 only one of my carefully curated mug collection survived. I refuse to let it get to me though so I'm just taking it as a win!
#17, for my son since he’s an only child i donate things to a charity for foster kids. They have it set up like a store for the families to go and pick out what they need. It’s free for them so I love that. Most of my son’s stuff is in really good condition because he’s 3. He’s starting to be harder on his clothes so I won’t be able to donate everything but every 6 months I have enough gathered that I take a trip there and give them whatever we have. Even the baby furniture.
Empty containers are very handy. They're going to get thrown out eventually, so they're perfect for things like cleaning paintbrushes or decanting wood treatments or mixing resin. Invariably those are all things that can only be done once and then the container is ruined. Clothes come two main varieties, those that get worn generally and those that are kept on hand for tasks that are going to wreck them. Old and tatty clothes are perfect for that second category. If that broken chair arm is wood then you just put in some wood glue, clamp and it is stronger than the wood itself. I don't think it is possible to have too many spare screws as long as they're sorted by size. A lifesaver when working around the house or on a project as there is almost always a screw on hand that will work. Those shoes did not look worn out. Pretty much use shoes until the sole wears through.
I appreciate hearing you talk about the urge to keep boxes or fancy packaging. I also struggle with this, and I am drawn to collecting containers of all kinds. I was looking at my food storage containers today, and felt oppressed by the amount and various sizes and brands. And, my epiphany is that I don’t really like leftovers and they sit in the fridge until it goes bad. So why do I need all those sizes of food containers?
Your videos are fantastic and very informative. You keep things very real. Your house is beautiful and the subzero in your kitchen is fantastic! Dark cabinets are very warm and inviting.
Thank you for sharing! I have gotten to the point of just getting rid of stuff that has been the "just in case." I place them all in a bag for donations. I am also lucky like you where I have two boys so that I only have to purchase items for the older one and occassionally some items for the younger one. I then donate their clothing to our neighbor with three boys. It makes me feel good when we do so.
Great video, it's given me a few more things to declutter 😊 I would have still donated those kids jeans with slight tears, they looked like they could be those intentional "distressed" look jeans which someone else might love. It's not my style, but I have then seen other people loving the ripped jeans look! I prefer to give them one more chance at life with someone else before they're recycled (Though if they're very thin or ripped in places like the crotch area then I would just send them to fabric recycling)
Hi Marissa. Just wanted to let you know that I did receive a notification for your video today. First one in a long time! I always look forward to watching your videos on Sunday mornings as I sip my coffee. ❤️
I’m thinking now if I should get rid of my ironing board. I almost never iron my clothes. I wear clothes that need ironing a few times a year but I normally get them ironed at the laundry outside. I only use my iron when I forgot to get my shirts ironed and I need them ASAP. The plus or having an Ironing Board is that my last girlfriend confessed than when she was at my place for the first time and saw the ironing board she made an assumption that I must be a decent man 😅
I quit keeping those little caps for products unless I store them in my purse. It’s just extra time and fuss to have to take them off and put them back on. 😅 plus I use what I have regularly, don’t have multiples and replace stuff within a decent time frame.
Same! This goes wrong with the shower foam at my house because my husband sometimes wants to take it to the pool and then needs a cap (which I may have thrown away 😅) I've tried to talk him into keeping a separate shower foam in his swim bag but he doesn't quite go often enough for that to make sense to him...
For the past few years, I have only bought one type of sock, and only in black. That eliminates the issue of mis-matching. Socks do still go missing or get torn sometimes, so I use the "orphaned" and holey ones to make pet toys for my local animal shelter.
#5 terrifies me. I'm such a crafter that i have a billion half-finished projects. But I'm starting to learn which things I'll give my time to and which ones i won't, and I'm almost completely finished decluttering my arts and crafts. If i got an hour of free time, now i would paint or read. I still have hobbies, but they're pared down and more deliberate now.
I try to avoid keeping empty plastic containers in general. I prefer reusing glass as I tend to use them for fermenting, making cleaners, vinegars etc and am trying to completely eliminate plastics. Especially since most plastic containers are pretty toxic and only a few types are really safe to reuse.
Very apropos for the season. hehe. The situation with Wayfair is a bit crazy! Congrats on all the arms you have now. AHH. Glad you took care of them. I went to a convention a couple of years ago and they gave so much free stuff. I definitely didn't take or keep whatever was given to me. I can't imagine how much people did not get rid of that went there. That's great that you were able to gain some usable free stuff! That's good! I giggled at the standing desk moving up with you on top of it. I noticed today the shoes I use to workout and go for all my walks in have holes all throughout them. . .but they feel so great and I've had them for about nine years, non-stop using them. Guess it is time though to replace them. Another enjoyable list. Hope you and your family are doing well! -Victoria
I try to give small things like extra hooks and screws a proper home so they’re not UFOs, but I probably keep too many! The other UFOs - unfinished (craft) objects are also a challenge! But finishing them counts as decluttering :) I have a problem with keeping nice glass jars to reuse - I limit to one shelf, but I’m going to go through and recycle a few of them today. Your standing desk looks really nice and I love the patio/sunroom area decor.
Spare parts really saved me 1k lately. I have changed my bed from 160cm width to 180cm and instead of buying a new bed and selling the old one which would come with a loss of at least 1.5k I paid a handy man to cut the replacement side boards for my bed and fit it in front and rear thus widening my bed.
My son's garage is almost completely full of his BIL's stuff. It's been there for years. His BIL lives in another state with his parents. He's never going to get that stuff.
Yep. The attic in our barn was filled with MILs stuff. No one wanted it or ever picked it up, she passed away late last year and hubby was able to get rid of all of it. Finally. Been up there for years!
Hi Marty! I did an empty house tour here you can watch: th-cam.com/video/FUctJd1OSLE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SXDbhykxToWOQgjo We are doing “slow decorating” so that’s why I haven’t shared an updated tour yet. ☺️👍
I save empty peanut butter jars. LOL. They're clear and big enough to aggregate several items that might otherwise become dusty, gross, and lost in the cellar. (Like a set of matching drawer knobs, screws, small parts, my collection of random bits of unknown origin, small sharp kitchen items, wine tchotchkes, etc.) They're an upgrade from Grampy's glass babyfood jars that held small metal bits and bobs. (No broken glass if I drop them.) In my household, it takes forever to finish an entire jar of PB, so I don't have a lot of overstock.
I honestly decluttered five things while watching this. I bought a set of Hallmark ornaments last year that came in a pack of three, but I only wanted one. I just decluttered the two I didn't want
I get body soap from my sister twice a year so I haven't bought any body soap in years, plus I have some extras too. I need to declutter some of my duplicate tools.
First video I've seen from this channel and im already hooked with the identification of UFOs 😭 i thought i was the only person with "i can't throw it away, even if i don't know what it is, because one day I'll figure it out and then need this item" 💀
@@em513 It would be interesting to see a catalogue of all the possible useful or useless items being kept. Then there is the retrieval system. Where the heck was that thing put anyway, we saw it a week ago, and we kept it, but have no clue where it was put, and it will stress someone out trying to find it because they know it’s somewhere but where exactly?
@margareth1504 I've solved that part, where I know I put it somewhere and can't remember where! I have a place for "miscellaneous" in each room. A small box or drawer so I can't let it collect TOO much, one for every shared space and one for my bedroom. (I have small children so it's also good for hiding stuff like remotes, batteries, outlet covers, etc.) Then if I don't know what a small piece is, I put it in the box for the room I found it in. Those are always the first place I check when I KNOW I have it, I JUST found it the other day, but WHERE did it go?!? It isn't foolproof, but I'd give it an 80% success rate in our house 🤷♀️
You can modify the bottom of the balance board by gluing on a small piece of carpet from the dollar store. Or, you can release it into the universe and see what comes to you in return.
I have this issue where I have things that seemingly have no home but I’m terrified that if I get rid of it,the need will present itself and I’ll have to repurchase something. I am a serial “purger” and hate rebuying things
After washing clothes I always put them at one end of the shelf, all the clothes that are already there get pushed or stacked to the other. That way I see which have fallen out of use and the decluttering is easier because there is less clothes to go over
I moved from a 3 bedroom house into my motor home and I left all my furniture behind because the young man was moving from an air bnb so needed furniture. Win win
@@AtoZenLifeI’m still decluttering, my motor home was 300 kgs over, I decluttered 100 kgs with large items, another 10 with clothes , moving from winter season into summer literally 🤣 and I’m just about to weigh myself and another two bags, I have to dump my water I have used and not refill to lower my weight because the insurance is effected if I’m overweight
The fancy in-theory-reusable, packaging drives me crazy!! And the extra accessories no one asked for or needed. I want to send them back to the companies and force them to reuse or discard them.
I have such a hard time with letting go of clothes since I’m not done having babies and my weight has fluctuated sooo much through the pregnancy and postpartum seasons. Hopefully after my next and last pregnancy I’ll be able to get rid of lots of my “just in case” clothes
Do you have any UFOs in your house!? 🛸🧐 Please give this video a like and comment below to let us know! UPDATE: since so many of you asked, here is the patio set: bit.ly/40dWCY5
When I come across a UFO in our house I just get rid of it unless it can be repurposed for something else.
Haha! At 1:50 the pessimist side of me said “after you throw away that little plastic cap you’ll figure out what it was for” 😂
@@Tux.Penguin True, but I never look back. :)
We have a few UFO each year. I keep a shoe sized box marked “parts”. If it gets full I declutter or at least once each year.
I might. I’m always decluttering. 😂
I tape extra screws, etc from furniture parts to the back or bottom of the furniture. It’s out of the way and you’ll have it if you need it, especially if it’s an odd shape or size part.😎
Having sheared weird screws in furniture before, yep, 100%
Genius!!
Great idea, thank you for the tip. Now I know why I need a duck tape, lol.
I don't keep them with the furniture, but I keep all those type of screws in one place and each set is labelled.
clever!!
I got rid of the last of my work clothes last year. I've been retired for seven years, who's kidding who? I don't want to work anymore lol.
FREEDOM! 🙌✨
haha!
Good idea!!!!! Enjoy retirement
I've solved the unmatched socks issue by only buying multiple pairs of one type of sock.
@@MyFocusVaries same here but I have two kinds: grey and black.
I only buy grey now for adults in the home
Me too! I only wear black socks now.
@@sebastianosuch273 black for me, grey for my son, different black ones for my husband
All socks (except 1 pair) I've bought are white. Any lonely sock gets used as cleaning cloths over my hand for easy cleaning).

Agreed 👍 I actually watch Marissa's videos for decluttering motivation 😅 she's one of the only minimalist youtubers that doesn't overwhelm me ❤
I immediately remembered a shampoo bottle that needs to be tossed out.
Yes!!! these vids are exactly the motivation i need!

@@Snarkyhippie And label it with a sticker or at lease a sharpie
the biggest thing i DONT follow as a mostly minimalist, is the "multiple" rules. i have diagnosed ADHD and having multiple lip balms, on my desk, in my bag, in my bed etc really helps me so that i dont misplace them or forget them. same goes for some kitchen gadgets like spatulas, it really helps me, so im really happy you mentioned the "its different for everyone" thing
Go casual, problem solved.
🙌🙌
Yep, yep, I feel this in my bones…good for you finally letting go!!
I keep a box of bags 😅😅 it's like my silly guilty pleasure 😂
Thank you
I always enjoy the consistency of your Pink Floyd shirts.
Hahaha, thanks you! 😉
Good thing for her I am honest and deleted everything and logged out of her account, and logged into mine,
This happened when I bought my last vehicle as well. Their phone and other devices were still connected and their Ipass sticker was still in it.
@@leandrahackwith3168 That's amazing! Good for you. ❤️
I think that's realistic. So long as he works on it a bit at a time over those couple of months, instead of avoiding it until zero hour, it shouldn't be too stressful.
I was so happy to see a video from Marissa today! I’m decluttering our third room today!
Fantastic! Good luck and happy decluttering 😎✨
I've been trying so hard to get even one cabinet done, let alone a room. Please pray for me because I can't seem to gain a foothold.
@@Savannah-ed4rv one step at a time. Try clearing just one side of it.
Because playing your videos motivates me, I ended up creating 'Decluttering' playlist with a lot of your decluttering videos (and some others for ADHD hacks). Whenever I need to do my unfavourite house chores, I play this playlist. I feel motivated & also like that I can't play with my phone while playing TH-cam! lol
You don't push your methods like an instruction manual, yet your framework makes sense, you don't upsell any unnecessary products and you're talking just to purely motivate us to declutter. ✨
Thank you so much for creating this channel!
Thanks so much for your kind words and I’ll be cheering you on!
I’m a simple woman…I see an A to Zen Life video, I like 👍😌😂
I appreciate that from the bottom of my heart ❤️😁
😂 same 👍
Me too 😊
Same here 🥰
I have 2 places I store repurposing containers.
Everyone.
Vinyls have come back since then. I have no idea what was in his record collection. My original Sketches of Spain by Miles Davis is worth around $360.
I can resist saving containers because I'm a canner. I use extra canning jars for drinks, to save leftovers, store extras, etc., so I recycle others.
This is super random but the handles on your bathroom cabinets in the beginning are GORGEOUS
Thank you! ☺️🙏
I don't have anything that belongs to this list.😊 Glad to be a minimalist.
In our fam we each keep one pair of old shoes for lake and beach water where you never know what you might step on. Sharp shells OUCH
Oh my goodness YES. I get this 💯
Lol. I got the same ribbons several times with new linens. I kept them the first time and then finally realized that I had nothing to use them for! 😂
That’s totally okay! 👍
Keep what bring you Joy!
So true with these empty containers! 😅
You always make things so much simpler!
I love your clear glass mug! The last thing I need is another mug, but if I ever see one like that I’m getting it, lol!
You always make things seem so much easier, thanks!
In my area you can take any electronic items to Staples for recycling.
I have to you I've been a follower of your channel for about a year. I've received the courage to do a massive declutter. Thank you
0:51 🤣 This acronym has made my day! It's Unexpected Fantastic and Original! 😁
Hahaha thank you!
Me too. It is genius 😂
Everything except pants, those always seem to get holes in the knees 🥲.
Great video, it's given me a few more things to declutter 😊
I would have still donated those kids jeans with slight tears, they looked like they could be those intentional "distressed" look jeans which someone else might love. It's not my style, but I have then seen other people loving the ripped jeans look! I prefer to give them one more chance at life with someone else before they're recycled
(Though if they're very thin or ripped in places like the crotch area then I would just send them to fabric recycling)
❤ "Make do and mend". ( I love patched jeans.)

I’m thinking now if I should get rid of my ironing board. I almost never iron my clothes. I wear clothes that need ironing a few times a year but I normally get them ironed at the laundry outside. I only use my iron when I forgot to get my shirts ironed and I need them ASAP.
The plus or having an Ironing Board is that my last girlfriend confessed than when she was at my place for the first time and saw the ironing board she made an assumption that I must be a decent man 😅
Adulting for the win!? 😂 Good luck with your decision-we don’t have one here, husband buys no-iron shirts, too.
I didnt have an iron board for years. I used a folded bath towel on my counter.
I have a iron board that hangs on a door, I use it for folding cloths.
UFOs and old and broken electronics are colonizing my home😢. 🆘
Thank you for another very useful video, Marissa ❤🥰
you couldn't be more correct!
also, lipsticks and other make up for my aspirational "look!"
When I feel unmotivated, your videos always give me the boot to keep going 😁 thank you!
Thank you for the motivation! I needed this today!

Those hooks you threw out come in handy. I would've gladly taken them off your hands. I need to order some to hang my kitchen tools utensils and mugs
Very practical video and links! Thank you so much.
Can’t wait to see a moved in house tour!

(Like a set of matching drawer knobs, screws, small parts, my collection of random bits of unknown origin, small sharp kitchen items, wine tchotchkes, etc.)
They're an upgrade from Grampy's glass babyfood jars that held small metal bits and bobs. (No broken glass if I drop them.)
In my household, it takes forever to finish an entire jar of PB, so I don't have a lot of overstock.
I just want to say I LOVE your house ❤
Thank you for keeping wearing that awesome Pink Floyd shirt. 🤘 Always makes my day when I see you in it in your videos. 😎

Win win
That was an easy move!
