- Kyle explains how and when to precondition your electric car's battery pack for cold weather charging this winter. In this video he shows how to activate on-route battery heating with the Hyundai IONIQ 6, but the process is the same for any Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis electric car. Enjoy!

On Kia/ Hyundia EGM-P cars, you can set the EV charging filter to only show DC, fast DC & Ultra fast DC charger, that way all the AC chargers are not shown when hunting for it.
Great video, I used this last winter. Works great on our Ioniq 5! How about Q8 e-tron, does it cold gate and if so how do we enable FC preconditioning for the Audi?
You should fine filter on main ev charger page. To exclude ac chargers.
27F in Baker Ca our EV6 took a charge ok when it was 150KW EA’s. Now it’s 350KW’s. Haven’t yet figured out how to activate pre-conditioning. Dealers scratches their head too.
You need the updated software, and under one of the EV menus you can enable it after the update.
Apparently you can’t just put the location of the charger. You have to actually find it in the points of interest or it won’t work. So don’t forget to select the charger if you look up the address if you’re on a road trip. If it’s not in the navigation you’ll have to pick one nearby and just get your phone to navigate you to the charger
This could easily be fixed with a Ota software update considering they have that in the ioniq 6 that needs to be the first thing they fix
Absolutely correct. Don't just enter the address of the DC fast charger. Select the actual charging station in the navigation app. This affects not just e-GMP cars. Some other vendors' cars have the same issue. Good tips, Kyle.
Yet another great informative video.
Is the same with the Tesla you have to tell the car . Or if you going to a long trip the car will let you know if you have to charge before you get to your destination
My bolt EUV doesn’t seem to have battery conditioning.
The new software version lets you do it manually on demand, but it seems to take a long time and you cant do it remotely andcar must be on
My Nav doesn’t even show all the available charging stations so, there’s no way to set some stations as a destination. Kind of ridiculous.
