@dudy Well, there is some truth to what you said about how Rwandans seem cold and unhappy. But let's consider where Rwanda is coming from: Rwanda barely survived one of the cruelest genocides in world history. What makes this especially complex is that Rwandans killed other Rwandans, and now they live side by side; their descendants attend the same schools and churches, among other activities. Every Rwandan alive has been affected by the genocide. Some are perpetrators living with lifelong guilt, while others are survivors dealing with the depression of losing most, if not all, of their family members, friends, and colleagues. Currently, Rwanda's youth is primarily composed of the second generation. This means they were raised by the generation that experienced the genocide. For survivors, the second generation grew up without the opportunity to be surrounded by extended family. Additionally, making friends at school or church was challenging, as their parents (survivors) were overprotective and very selective about who could befriend their children. On the side of the perpetrators, the second generation had to grow up with some of their parents and extended family members in jail. Thus, being happy, outgoing, and making friends was difficult for them as well, since their peers (who could have been their friends) were orphaned by their parents' actions, and some of the perpetrators' second generation even blamed the survivors for their parents' imprisonment. Therefore, both the generation that experienced the genocide and the second generation, which dominates Rwanda's youth, have had their share of sorrow and traumatizing experiences, making them seem cold and unhappy. LANGUAGE: Aside from the genocide, there is also a language barrier. The native language of Rwanda is Kinyarwanda, which isn't spoken by any foreign visitors. Other languages spoken include French and English. However, the majority of Rwandans are not fluent in any of those languages besides their mother tongue. Since language is essential for communication, not being fluent in any languages spoken by foreign visitors leads to an attitude that seems cold and shy. But why are Rwandans not fluent in English or French, unlike in Uganda, Kenya, or Congo? The reason dates back to the colonial period. During the colonial period, Rwanda was severely divided by the colonialists. Initially, they uplifted the ruling higher social class - the Tutsi (Tutsi was just a social class of the rich and noble Rwandans, not an ethnic group until the colonialists came and changed it), and schools were attended mostly by Tutsi elites. During the independence era, the colonialists no longer agreed with the ruling Tutsi elites on how to proceed, so they turned to the lower social class - the Hutus, whom they had indirectly repressed through the ruling Tutsis. The divide that grew over the colonial period between the two social classes led to false independence, which was independence of the Hutus over repressive Tutsis (in reality, Tutsi leadership was not repressive as all Rwandans were united under the King, who represented God in society). But when the colonialists came, they had to impose what seemed strange to the citizens, like planting coffee and tea, which Rwandans did not consume back then. To succeed, they had to work through the leaders of that time, who were mostly Tutsis. That seemed like repression to Rwandans, whose profession was farming - most farmers back then were Hutus. Also, the colonial segregated education system seemed like repressive behavior of the Tutsis during the independence era. So, after the false independence, Tutsis were discriminated against, and only a few attended schools and secured lucrative jobs. This segregated education system left a significant portion of Rwandans uneducated. You may think that at least the favored Hutus were all educated, but no. Corruption and politics based on hatred, ethnic division, and nepotism left the majority of Hutus uneducated too and in poverty. In short, only a handful of Rwandans were educated. After the genocide, the majority of educated teachers were either dead or had fled the country. So Rwanda had to rebuild from scratch, and there were only a few schools. Additionally, due to the French role in the genocide, the relationship between the two countries had been severed, and the education system had to change from Francophone to Anglophone. Let's remember that very few teachers were fluent in English, as Rwanda was a Francophone country. This meant teachers had to teach in a language they were not fluent in, leading to a generation that was neither fluent in French nor English. Therefore, it is difficult to appear outgoing to foreign visitors when you are not fluent in the language they speak. Most Rwandans genuinely want to connect with foreigners and learn more about their cultures, but the language barrier prevents this. So, many choose to lay back, which may seem cold. However, with the good leadership Rwanda has, this language challenge is being addressed, though it will surely take many years to be fully resolved. And also what I just said is recent. Rwanda started rebuild in July 1994. Only 30 years down the road.

Kampala is lively and more developed. Kigali is organized with rule of law working. Beautiful roads and pavements. Kampala is a city which is open to everyone one, you can enter and start making money right away which is not the case in Kigali. In terms of size, Kampala is bigger, forget what the Map says. Kigali could be the best but the population isn't enough so Kampala big up & with a hope of business, thank U; this is Alex from South Africa & a ugandan
Hi Alex, thanks for participating
I am planning to visit south Africa this year
@@dudy that's fine we will welcomes you please.
@@AlexGoodhope awesome, thank you :) I am looking forward a lot :)
Amahoro stadium 🇷🇼
Yes l will also visit
Kigali is the best 😮😮
I am happy for kigali 🇷🇼🤗

I didn’t get a chance to go inside but looking forward to it
Ugandans People like to complain Kigali is small Rwanda is small 😂 but forget Belgium is small too. So Uganda should be compared with Russia 😅😅😅😅😅. Hhhh
🤣🤣🤣🤣 you got them righ. Remember Rwanda is a new country than Uganda but it’s really doing great
@@dudy My country is run by rubbish hence the rubbish, Ugandan here. New country, what does that even mean..South Sudan New?...Rwanda's rejuvenation is by a cohort of the same bush "revolutionary". Kigali is very organized tho.
@@hermanrubaraza5579oh… the rubbish… 😢… rwanda is new because it got completely new leadership in there late few decades
@@dudyYou people keep on saying Rwanda went through a genocide & only started to rebuild after 1994 forgetting it was just a few years after 1986 when Uganda had started to rebuild. People talk of genocide & forget Uganda as well went through so many years of turmoil after independence in 1962 to 1986. Uganda started rebuilding in 1987 but unfortunately it's liberators became so greedy along the way that all they do right now is plunder such a beautiful & rich country, they prefer to steal & take whatever they have stolen to the white man's land hence depriving the country of better infrastructural development
Kampala is good too and more developed, but Kigali is the best.
Nice thanks for watching: hope Kampala will catch up with Kigali’s cleanliness very soon 👍
I vote 4 my lovely and beautiful country Rwanda 🇷🇼 ❤️ ♥️ 💖
☺️ that’s okay 👍
Kampala is lively and more developed. Kigali is organized with rule of law working. Beautiful roads and pavements. Kampala is a city which is open to everyone one, you can enter and start making money right away which is not the case in Kigali. In terms of size, Kampala is bigger, forget what the Map says. Kampala has outgrown its size and taken up its metropolitan areas. Kampala just needs to do a few things which is very possible and we will never talk about this debate again. I vote Kampala👍🏾
Yes Kampala is way bigger than kigali: l would say Kigali is doing really great yet it’s a new city compared to kampala if it continues like this then there is no chance for Kampala to shine. Kampala is lively, cheap, happy people, but very crowded
@@dudybecause we welcome everyone. So many forreigners and refugees are living happily in Kampala. We coexist with others and freely share our resources with others. Theres so much pressure on our resources. But still we live freely with others.
@@mariatheresa2755ohhh… that’s so nice! Where are the most refugees from? I saw kampala was having a looot of people from all around… that is really nice to welcome 😀
@@dudymost refugees live in kansanga and kabalagala…mostly Eritreans, and Somalis
@@Kulio186oh wow.. i didn’t know! I though also there could be some Sudanese refugees… but i don’t know the situation now actually
Nice.
Welcome 🤗
Both are beautiful
I vote Kigali very beautful
Nice thanks
Am ugandan and love Uganda, but still kigali beats. However small, its so organized and neat.
That’s true, l hope Kampala can also copy the same thing
I vote Kigali as the best in Africa 🌍
Rwandans you are welcome to Kampala 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬.
The City know to be above on Seven Hills also have a good President Called Museven😂😂😂
Kampala the City crowned Seven Stars of the Bible.
I love Uganda Zaabu🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬
We know that Kigali is a clean city but Not developed like Kampala🎉🎉🎉
Huh 😀😀😀 you got me laughing so hard
BELLES IMAGES DE KIGALI VILLE PROPRE ET VISIBLEMENT ORGANISEE 🌴❤
Thank you 😊 kigali is the most organized and clean city in East Africa though Nairobi, Dar el salaam and Kampala as follows are the most developed
Been to both cities. Love them both but Kampala has the edge :)
I love the fact that some people say that Kampala is more developed than Kigali though it’s dirty and messy
I love your videos, dudy! :)
Thank you buddy
Still Uganda is far better than Rwanda.... Now being clean and with good roads and buildings without people, what does it help. A good city means many people but not like desert
Yeah l can relate
True wow
@@kabiitorichards2023 nice! Let´s see how the both places develop further
Kigali was born in only 30 years but it is gonna pass Kampala
@@venerandauwamaliya4136 very young and vibrant city :)

What a nice city Kampala is
🇺🇬 great one of the best comments about Kampala so far
I vote Kigali as the best in Africa
What the best in Africa? 😀😀 wow nice thanks
I vote kigali even if I am a ugandan
Why are you voting for kigali please 😭? 🤪
Kampala is more developed and bigger while kigali is just green. I wish kampala can improve on greening 😍, the city will look much more better. My vote goes to kampala ❤❤❤❤.
Nice thanks for voting 👍🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬
Kigali has only developed for 30 years. Comparing its development with Kampala is somehow crazy.
The question is, how Rwanda managed to reach this level for only 30 years?
@@evaristendabanyeexactly! How did they make it? The gdp per capita and other indicators and pretty much same with uganda… but the huge difference is the corruption… but well in fact… it makes sence.. if there is a million dollar to build roads all all goes to build them it makes it huge difference compared to when half of the money ate on bribes
Kampala might be big, but it's not more developed than Kigali. I mean, even the buildings in Kigali are some of the most expensive in Africa like Kigali Convention Center, Kigali Arena and Amahoro stadium. Plus, vision city and other projects which are on world class level. So, Kigali has better infrastructure and is more smart.
@@Kelnillan kampala is more developed accept the fact and has alo to offer.
Kigali very good city
Nyarugenge village 🇷🇼 there's More beautiful place in Kigali Rwanda just visit U Rwanda
Thank you for recommending 👍🇷🇼
Good to see through your lense 🇰🇪

Kigali is too small compared to Kampala but it's clean
Exactly it’s small but people love how clean it is. So organized and free
@@dudy the fact is that Kigali is bigger than kampala in land area, over 5 times bigger than kampala you can check it on google
@@maremboanne8193in geographical size yes, kigali is bigger. I think the original comment referred to population
I like kigali city ....God bless you brother ...God protec you ...say hallo from indonesia

Yeah in terms of development Kampala wins
@@dudy yes, I hope Kampala can improve on greening and cleaning the city 😘 it will be really amazing.
@@KitimbweHamidai wish so too, it would be so amazing ❤!
Yes Kampala is far more developed than Kigali. But comparing with since when both cities started being developed, Kigali is much fast in development than any city in Africa.
@@evaristendabanyeyes true, they have done a huge step forward in the past few decades
