I usually use one bale of straw, 2 bales of hay and the rest in loose silage to fill the mixer wagon. Are you fairly sure that it doesn't make any difference using 2 bales of hay and one bale of silage and vice versa?

Nice informative video. I have a different take on straw in power food (note: I do not use bales). Given that straw is the easiest to get of the the three ingredients, I actually use 50% straw and 25% of hay and silage. Why? Volume. I want as much power food as I can make and I want it cheap. Straw is cheap. Hay needs tedding (and ideally wind rowing) and silage needs compacting/fermenting. I use just enough of the latter two and as much straw as I can in order to fill the mixer then store the product for later use. But that's just my way... :)
How do you use 50% straw and keep the ratios in the green??
I'm using the propelled version but it's a mod that gives 34k capacity as opposed to 16k (just fyi). I use a 21k tipper, get two loads of straw, one of hay and one of silage. Lay them down in lines. Suck up about 17k straw, then 8.5k of hay and 8.5k of silage. There is a ton more straw then needed but the hay and silage are in the green. The cows love it. :)
Did it again today and paid more attention to ratios. It's minimum 20% hay and 20% silage and basically 60% straw. If either straw or hay drops below 20% it goes red. So I keep them green but as low as I can get away with while adding as much straw as will fit into the mobile siloking.

Hi Moose, do you have any idea why feeding cows with food from mixer fills only 6000l of TMR and 10000l of hay/silo(!)? It's really annoying, because you have to do much more mixing.

My Siloking won't take my green bales. Can you help ?
after the 1.4 update, the in-game mixing wagons will only take hay (tedded grass) instead of wet grass bales.

@@jame3shook so if you want to use your green bales (wet grass bales) like karaoke trucker said, you can't use it in the siloking? 'cause I want to start with cows and it's not that easy as it looks

though the machine is a TMR( total mix feeder) it literally just mixes different concentrations of food thoroughly, its used for total mixed rations for cows. common in dairy cows who need very fine tuned diets.
dont want to sound picky its not refereed to as power food, hope it helps somebody :)
I don't know why Giants decided to change the term in FS17. They called it TMR in the past Farming Sims. I just use whatever terminology the game uses. Thanks for the info, though!

Mr. Moose, thanks for all the great tutorials....I am stuck on mixing power food and ended up with {hay 7.69%, silage 61.54% and straw 30.77% in my selfpropelled mixer using bales.....how can i fix this ratio?

In the Sosnovka map, there are two places to feed the cows. 1 inside the barn and 1 outside the field next to the water. Which place do you put the Power Food?

OK, Moose. I have seen a little discussion about this in your comments, but I'm going nuts here. The SiloKing Selfline doesn't pick up grass, anymore. Any idea why this is or if it can/will be fixed?

now the % are wrong, followed the video and it doesnt work for me either. One part Straw, One part Hay, 2 parts Silage. Had a red bar. Spent an hour reloading and trying it in different orders. Doesnt work.
edit: im also making sure i tedded the grass first because plain grass in not accepted into the siloking.

how do you sheet up the Chaff ive loads and still 100% compact but wount let me cover it to produce?
So it’s 1 part straw, 2 parts hay and 1 part silage or 1 part straw, 1 part hay, and 2 part silage? And what happens if you mess up is the mix as good as garbage?

I'm playing this in 2021 and I did exactly how you did it but I used 1 Straw that was a square bale, and two silage that was a round bale, and one Hay that was a square bale and it through it way off nothing was green but the silage did I do something wrong or do you have to use just all square bales or all just round bales didn't work either way so confused?
A nice trick you can do if you don't have straw or have an excess of hay and silage is completely ignoring the straw. As far as I'm aware the straw is only there to increase the volume of power food per hay and silage bale.
Also you don't need to fill the mixer, so putting one hay, one straw, and one silage bale in will work as well, and can make it a bit faster, especially if you have hay and silage bales mixed together in the autostacker, and spike both at once, and ignore the straw.
I also noticed when I was testing the mixer out myself, that the power food and 'base food' both go up when using the feed mixer. I have to wonder if that was a bug or intentional, to help folks who just want to use their hay and silage for the power food...

Yea I was using the bigger mixer mod that needs a tractor and it won't let me put hay in.I tried bales and tried todo it unbailed but it won't go and I have 1000 cows so please help

Yeah but you can't pick it back up with the mixer. You'll have to use belts or a bucket.

How did u get the loader attachment on ur tractor?
you drive to the garage and customize the tractor with the front loader attachment - not all tractors can be equipped with one - the you purchase in the store the front loader in the "front loader" category where you can also buy an assortment of shovels and forks and even claws that clamp on to tree trunks. the attachment for the small tractor costs about 1800 with labor and the front loader like 5400 and shovels and forks about 500 - once you get the attachment you just drive into the loader etc

When i do this when i do the grass one it says not accepted ? Anyone know why and it wont let me suck up grass could it be to do with the loader wagon im using to collect grass???

I don`t know if there is a bug, but Siloking SelfLine Compact 1612 doesn't work any more. Today the game was updated via Steam. Patch size was 900mb. It doesn't "suck" or unload. Also Trailedline duo 1814 doesn't work properly
I've had a similar experience, I wasn't able to suck up grass anymore, didn't try straw but silage still works. Not sure what the deal is, really takes the usefulness out of this machine. At least for keeping the cow feeding area clean. My siloking does still unload though.

Swifty Isn't the problem. Turn your grass to Silage, then mix Hay and Stray...now you got it.

It sounds like maybe you had some in there before you added these 4 bales? Are you sure it was completely empty before starting? If so, I have absolutely no idea what went wrong. Empty it and try again, I guess. Let me know how it goes!
My mixer is empty and i do exactly what u say with the bales and it gives me weird random percentages. Not 50, 25, 25. Do u know how to fix? My mixer only holds 13000 apparently…
The sucker upper on my game only holds 13000 and the smaller tow mixer somehow holds 16000, idk what they did to the game but mine is messed up now :(

I tried putting hay in here and it would not except it, I also tried putting it into the other one the one you have to pull with the tractor and it would not except it luckily I could get it back out again.

You can probably pick it up with a bucket but if you try to pick it back up with the mixer it just disappears (unless they changed this in a recent patch).

why dose the silage and hay fill up too, for me half of the power food doesnt show as power food, but as hay and silage, why?
I know it is too late but someone can read it. Becouse total mixed ration are not power food. Mixer make 60% silage/hay and 40% power food. With mixer you don`t need to put hay or silage separete.
I use this exact ratio and it never works, one or 2 bars is always red still and my siloking is full

How to get silage bale
I can't use the belts to fill the big mixer but the belts will fill the little mixer. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

moose PLEASE HELP, I have the cheaper mixer wagon, I use 1 bale of straw, 2 bales of hay, and 1 bale of wrapped silage so 16000 units right? so I go to feed my cows and I notice that the power food category only goes up like 8 to 9000 shouldnt it be up 16000?what am I doing wrong here??? I've tried getting Closer to the actual bins, I have dumped it out and picked it up with a shovel, and tried to actual turn on the mixer wagon and wait a minute then feed.. nothing has worked same out come please help
A lot of it goes towards the "hay/silage" section of food (you can watch it go up while you empty your power food). I don't know if this is broken or something they want to happen but either way it's really really really annoying.
