If I remember, selling logs in FS15 was profitable. Now you get like 500-700/ log. In FS15 it was around 5000.
You make more throwing a tree in the Placeable woodchipper. Not sure why they nerfed the log price so much. Too bad though because now forestry's only useful to clear annoying trees, not really as its own industry.
Yes and forgot to mention, that zone for drop-off is bugged. Sometimes I have to move the trailer up & down because it cant take it -.- Easiest way to drop into the lake...
that because the tree was too long you need to cut the tree in to 8m sections also the age of the tree affects price if you cut them to young you wont get much one good tree will get you 2 to 3 k

You can use that attachment that cuts the logs to pick them up too, bit it is a bit awkward since you can't get above it. And you obviously can't put it in the trailer with it, but it's fine for single log selling
I found that cutting the tree into shorter logs nets you more than selling it whole.
I chopped down a tree, DE-branched it and saved.
Sold the full tree for €613. Then reloaded my save chopped it into 3 parts and sold them for €686.
I was about to ask if someone tried this. Thank you for this tip. I thought it will work this way, just like in FS 15, where +-8 meters long pieces has the best price

I didnt know about backing the loaded trailer into the water thanks for that. I found the easiest way to sell before knowing about the water was the train crane, I pull my trailer beside the yellow box and use the crane to just flip the trailer on its side. Sells the whole load at once.
Small addition to de-limb a fallen tree: you can use crouch while walking along the tree, this makes sure you always cut all the limbs (also the ones on the other side.

I beg to differ, no chainsaw out performs a husqvarna in real life, so there's a reason to choose a chainsaw brand, stihl isn't half bad either, aside from that, love your videos. Sorry, I'm from Oregon lol. We cut a lot of trees haha.

You can get up to $2,000 a log you have to pick the right tree for it tho. its the one that has a redish color to it where it looks like the bark is coming off of it and the branches curve upwards. cut it to the length of the semi trailer. then bring it over tho the tractor trailer with the claw cut it to length and the smallest part feed into the wood chipper. About half load of semi trail got me a little over 20,000. The tractor trailer with the claw usually brings my just under 10,000 fully loaded.
I am years late ha. But great tutorial. Im more interested in the woodchips method so ill check that video out. Logging just seems so fun. Im just soooo lost. Im new to FS. And just picked up 17. Thank you for the very basic and perfectly clear tutorial though.

You didn't mention what tractor you are using in order to use the claw. I've tried several different tractors and can't seem to figure it out. They won't attach to what I've tried so far.
Hi! Did you make sure to upgrade the tractor to make sure it has the attachment slot for the arms? They won't attach by default, but most tractors can get this upgrade!
I always thought the longer the tree the more money you get but when I chainsaw vs keeping the log intact I actually get more money for the smaller bits when added together
I have two questions: 1. How are the trees replaced? 2. Can I back a pickup filled with small pieces into the mill's canal and sell the wood that way?

Hi Moose, that tree cutter that u have on ur front loader. It looks like it has a grab claw on it.. can it be used to pick things up so u don't have to purchase a log fork too?
Yes it can be, but it isn't great, and cannot get very high at all.
Never done tree cutting before, how do you get the tree clamp to open and close? I can raise and lower it, but can't get it open :o(

Ik this is a dumb question but Is there a way to bring the truck and 2 tractors at the same time?
The reason that the stump grinder didn't work on the first stump is because the tree cutter attachment didn't cut the tree low enough. Just go back and use the chainsaw to cut lower and then the stump grinder will work.
crane loading is almost impossible, chipping is more enjoyable. or you load with the tractor fork. (long logs) i would like them to simplify the crane controls a bit like lumberjack dynasty.

I use the trailer for the semi. Does anyone know if it has a weight limit? Or does having logs hanging out the back cause issues? The screen sort of jumps and everything is slower.
Hi Moose... I bought the DFM TR3200 tree saw but I can't get it to attach to my 1455 Case XL. Am I using the wrong tractor or front loader?
Do you know if can sell logs anywhere in the water? It could be useful to just throw them over a bridge or at some beach.
I think the most useful though is stacking up lots of logs in a train and then moving them over, you can save both on crane equipment and using the flat trailer to move them.

for some reason when i do this the blue icon takes forever to search around the trees to make it show up, no matter the rotation. takes forever to chop a few down, any ideas what would cause this?

you have to place the blade on top of the stomp
there is a mod for a semi trailer that tips the logs so you don't have to risk sinking your semi and trailer

you have to buy the land in fs19 to be able to cut the trees. in fs17/15 you could cut any tree.
