    I gave up on "best of" lists about a decade or so ago. It's next to impossible to find qualifying information on a vast majority of available products, these days. The scum bags that clutter the internet with their short-sighted, self serving lies really bother me. It just makes searching for information and actual reviews incredibly difficult. The fact that they probably trick millions of people, pisses me off even more.

      @@saeer5038 Customer reviews are normally useless anyway. If someone that has no experience with a type of product will give a crappy consumer level product 5 stars and give 1 star to a high quality professional piece of equipment.
      Customer reviews are typically just personal opinion with no bearing on the manufacturers intended use or quality of a product.

      @@theorncampbell4432And also many customer reviews don't even rate the product itself but the delivery delay and the damage the package received during transport.. I have seen so many times a 1 or 2 stars review with the comment saying the product was excellent and perfectly matched the needs of the customer but they had to wait 2 extra days to receive it, or the delivery guy left it in the porch. And sometimes the review is about a completely different product. It seems like a lot of people actually use the comments on Amazon to simply rant about the bad day they just had.

    Thanks for the video! Almost bought that Duramont chair which did not realized had different names on Amazon. Was fooled by the Amazon choice rating too. You saved me some money. I probably will go with the Ticova Ergonomic chair for a more cheaper option. Did not want to spend crazy amount of money. Downloaded your chair guide and that was helpful. I made the mistake of getting one years ago because they were real cheap at $100, and ticked very basic requirements of height and weight capacity. But it's straight up garbage. You buy the thing, and you may as well just throw it right in the trash without even sitting on it. It's not a chair, it's a money trap.

    weird because I'm sitting in the Duramont chair right now (although my chair's wheels are different than the one you have) and I've had this thing for like 3 years and never had any back pain, and the seat is perfectly fine to me. Though, I am not a tall person, so perhaps it's better suited for someone under 5'6" ? But I've been very happy with this chair.
    And to be fair, you admit it's not actually a Duramont, it's a Sihoo, so I wonder if the seat really is different between the two? Because my Duramont seat absolutely does NOT feel like a brick.

      It is, more comfortable and in the long run it will help your body to be supported thr right way so you in maybe 10-15 years dont develope neck/back-pains. • @dylanloo9856
      @dylanloo9856 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The main thing to look out for when buying an ergonomic office chair is the warranty. If the warranty makes up for the price of the chair, then it's definitely worth it. Say if u were to buy a $100 chair that has a 1-year warranty (even I think a 1-year warranty is pretty generous for a $100 chair), compared to a $1000+ chair that has a 12-year warranty, you're gonna be buying the same chair again and again over the lifetime of a single good office chair that will last u over 12 years. Plus, it's also better for the environment (less waste). Also, high-end office chairs from reputable brands (HM, Steelcase, Hayworth, etc.) will pretty easily last way longer than the amazing 12-year warranty that they have. I've seen chairs from HM and Steelcase lasting upwards of 30 years! Now that is an excellent value if I do say so myself. So, it may seem expensive now, but keep in mind that buying a good office chair is an investment, not an expense (investment for your back/health). It helps reduce/prevent back problems when u grow older.
      A good way to see if buying a chair is worth it is to just calculate their per year cost. Let's just say $1,500 and divide that by their 12-year warranty. That comes to a per year cost of only $125!!! I think most people even spend more money per year on their mobile plan than that lol. Additionally, as I mentioned b4, these high-end chairs typically outlast their 12-year warranty, so if u were to take good care of your chair and manage to make it last 30 years, that's only $50 a year! $50 a year just to invest in a good ergonomic chair that will take good care of your back for the next 30 years. I don't even need to tell u that this is extremely worth it.

      Riding a remanufactured Leap v2 here, day 3 in the chair. I'm giving this chair a 2 week time frame to see if the pain stops. Currently, it is the most uncomfortable chair I've ever sat in. However, I did my homework before getting this and knew to expect a period of adjustment for my body, coming from cheaper chairs that weren't good for one's posture. Right now Ibuprofen seems to be the key to getting comfy in this chair.
      I can say going the remanufactured route, the chair was almost half, the brand-new price, and it comes with a 12 year warranty, just like the brand-new ones and it's from Steelcase approved seller.
      Just for specs, I'm 6'3" and weight around 375 Lbs. (mostly fat) and just barely fit into this chair. I echo someone else's comment, that these guys should have mentioned alternatives to some of the chairs they are talking about in this video.
      Good luck on your hunt!

    5:36 when I got this chair and sat on it the lumbar support was digging into my spine so I removed it (hardest thing I've ever done) but then there was no support for my back at all. I ended up getting a lumbar support pillow to stuff it behind the mesh and now it's somewhat bearable. I also got the aloudy cushions for the armrests but it really sucks that they're height-adjustable only.

    Well shit, im glad i didn't get that duramont. Almost bought it to lol. Still looking for a replacement chair, thought i had scored with the steelcase series 1 that i got for $175 lightly used but the chair while fixing my upper back pain (bad work accident back injury) started to give me constant lower back pain right at the belt line. Which sucks cuz I actually like that chair.

    Ideally, *THE* best _ERGONOMIC_ office chair is a chair made of mesh, has a high-back - w/fixed headrest, adjustable lumbar support, and fixed armrests. Fixed armrests adds to the stability. However, because of BTODtv *I went from **_function over form to form over function._*

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That sounds like the opposite of an ergonomic chair. A chair with a fixed headrest and fixed arms will only be ergonomic for the small percentage of people that can fit the chair without needing to adjust it. I agree that mesh backs are great but not mesh seats. They are uncomfortable for a lot of people and can cause tailbone issues. -Ryan

      @@btodtv Maybe some of the hi-end chairs where the armrests are much more sturdier.
      But think of this, my chair at work is 15 years old. The armrests have remained in the exact same position for 15 years.
      Never made any specific adjustments. I treat them as if they were in a fixed position.
      With that said, the armrests are awful. Always moving or wiggling. And they're not broken.

      @@SooperFlye That is the purpose of an ergonomic chair. You set it once when you get it. And then you keep those settings forever, or until you have an accident and need to change posture. You're not supposed to change the settings every day. But you need the chair to be adjustable on that first use.
      If you want to completely get rid of the adjustments, then you need the chair built on measure for you like a costume.
      Or you are lucky enough that a fixed chair matches your body. But you are an exception.

    unsurprisingly, this is more like a paid list...i mean, just skip right to the gaming chair category and you know right away it's a scam.... that shitty random gaming chair is just a low tier model gaming chair... besides, gaming chair in general are not even comfortable to begin with....even the expensive ones can easily give people back and neck pain... so, forbes, read it only if you find it entertaining....

      We bring in the chairs, we use them, we compare them and then we are honest about them. That’s not what Forbes did here. This would be no different than us making a list on the best websites to buy stocks, not using any of them and then linking out to them in hopes that you click on them so that we can make money. We are not qualified to make a list like that. The same goes for Forbes and this list. -Ryan

      @@btodtv OOOOOOOOH!!!!!! So your big brain arguments are as follows:
      Ryan from BTODtv - "We bring in the chairs, we use them, we compare them and then we are honest about them. That’s not what Forbes did here."
      Me - (sarcastically) "Oh dude totally. In no way shape or form did Forbes of all places buy these chairs and test them. Because there's no way they have a bunch of people using office chairs at their office. It just doesn't make sense....." 🙄
      Ryan from BTODtv - "This would be no different than us making a list on the best websites to buy stocks, not using any of them and then linking out to them in hopes that you click on them so that we can make money. We are not qualified to make a list like that. The same goes for Forbes and this list."
      Me - (sarcasm aside) "I think with an argument like this it's pretty apparent you're not qualified to tell me where to invest my money. All the way down to my chair investment. Your argument still fails against the original point I made which is that you yourself have affiliate links. Links that, in your own words, are there 'in hopes that you click on them so that we can make money'. So Ryan are you telling me that your links are somehow different from their links? Because they're not. Also note that you have listed a whole bunch of affiliate links to items not even associated with this video. You're a chair salesman, so why are you linking to all of these items you are not an expert on Ryan? Again, as you say 'We are not qualified to make a list like that'. Stay in your lane Ryan. Then lets talk about how right underneath those links is a disclaimer that reads: 'We are an office furniture dealer and sell some of the products we review.' So Ryan should I trust a salesman more than Forbes? A company who isn't selling the thing they reviewed or a company who's sole purpose is to sell me this item? If anything every point you made completely undermines your own argument and your company model, at the very least here on TH-cam,"
      So.... do you want to keep arguing? Because the more we talk the more you look like the least trusted chair reviews on TH-cam. I mean, if that wasn't the case before. I know it was for me.
      Original reply from BTODtv (in case of edits or deletion): We bring in the chairs, we use them, we compare them and then we are honest about them. That’s not what Forbes did here. This would be no different than us making a list on the best websites to buy stocks, not using any of them and then linking out to them in hopes that you click on them so that we can make money. Yeah their “best of” lists are designed to sell products. Totally scummy. Unlike the lists you guys put out, that are designed to… sell products. Do you think a list of products from 2 people that have never seen any of the products in the list is as valuable as a list from people that have used every product they review? I would personally never take product advice from someone who has never seen the product. You are just as educated as these authors on these chairs but they present themselves as experts in order get you to buy into the information that they are presenting. Like you said it’s Totally scummy. -RB
