@ReturnTrip yeah to me a chair being a reasonable price is like 150$ and i own a 2500$ PC. Chairs are made of fabric and plastic and do nothing but hold you. They are extremely overpriced. I had never thought about office chairs. I had chairs; I sat in them. Mine broke, so I decided to look up a good one and found this video. My Ticova arrived about an hour ago. I built it. I sat in it. I didn't understand that there was a difference, until now. This has been the second-most useful video I've ever seen on youtube (after one teaching me how to use a torque wrench to re-attach the break caliper on a 2012 Acura).

I believe that the Steelcase Think V2 is a seriously underrated chair. I know that it's not for everyone but I love the 3D-knit backrest. It's the only backrest that I find to be truly comfortable because it has the breathability of a mesh-back with the support of a hard-back. Also, I love that the seat is an actual cushion as opposed to just mesh. It is soft enough to sink into but firm enough to support my weight.

To answer the question of my pick, I have the Herman Miller Aeron remastered at the office, and while it is really nice, I actually prefer my old Kinnarps 6000 Free-float, that I have at home to it. The ability to lock it in any position, combined with the denser padding and cloth upholstery is just a winning combination for me!

One spec I'd wish you'd have mentioned for each chair is their weight limit. I just started looking for a chair and as I am about 240, I need to ensure that I don't crush a flimsy chair. Other than that, I like your videos. One question regarding headrests: doing I really want one or not? I guess my answer would be based on how much reclining I'd be doing. My last chair was one of those bonded leather models and I was able to recline with my head supported. But that bonded stuff, geez, did it snow when I carried it out of my house to toss it.

I had placed an order for a custom ID-L tall-back in some crazy fun colors, however the owner of the shop gave me the loaner of a brand new but discontinued 'Pacific' high-back, and I fell in love. Took me 2 days to cancel the order on the ID and negotiate a fair price for the Pacific. The back is fantastic, with the vertical adjustments and it's got this amazing ability to fold over backwards when you lean far enough back and can STREEEEETTTTCHHHH your spine in the most amazing way ever. I like this type of format. Straight to the point. Unfortunately it also proves that good chairs remain expensive and thus the more expected models were chosen. I came here because I was looking for a chair for my gaming desk without having to go for a typical gaming chair. I already had my eye on the Merryfair Wau 2 / HJH Spektre (same chairs, different brands so I guess that should raise red flags) because well, yes, esthetics are also a factor for a modern look. The mesh combined with that really eye-catching white and grey spacy design appealed but as it currently stands I am not that sure anymore.
Also, though you get what you pay for in most cases when sticking to the established brands, I also think it is about balancing between what is healthy and good for you while also still remaining it justifiable. In my case that would be a
chair that does a great job for the time I will be using it (not professionally) while also offering a design that fits in with a modern gaming / production room. So starting all over again and probably turning away from the HJH Spektre / Merryfair Wau 2...sigh

As pointed out in their video refurbished chairs are always an option that can bring the price down to something more affordable. For instance they suggested the Amia and while the price is around $900-1000 for a new chair I see Madison Seating is selling a refurbished one for $300 and I see other used Amias in the same price range. Given the quality of Steelcase products I wouldn't worry too much about their lifespan.

    2) if you like the chair, return the one you got from Herman Miller/Haworth/etc. and find an authorized dealer in the area who sells chairs, they will usually have it for 40-50% less price but won't allow a return, so definitely try a chair and if you're sure, you can buy through an AD for saving some money!

Get an Aeron and buy an atlas headrest separately if you want a chair with a headrest.
I understand why they don't care about headrests because typically they are fixed or offer very little adjustment, and usually you have to lean your head so far back it puts you in an awkward position. I personally rarely used the headrests on chairs and the only reason I bought one for the Aeron is I figured I already spent so much damn money getting a fully loaded Aeron, I might as well spend a little more to have the complete package.
But it was an absolute gamechanger due to the huge range of adjustment. Now I use my headrest constantly because I have it positioned where I only have to lean my head back an inch and it hits my neck in the perfect position so it feels natural to use and not like I have to look down my nose to see the screen like with every other headrest I have tried. If you want a high end chair with a headrest Aeron + Atlas headrest is the obvious choice, imo. Especially considering how few options there are for high end chairs with headrests, I am pretty confident in saying you probably won't be able to find anything better.

Just returned it, because the seat lock doesn't lock any more, and worse, the back mesh fixation is broken just below my shoulder on 20 cm. No more tension on the back mesh. And this chair is now sold 120 € less than last year. A scam. I should get a refund, but I'm still waiting.

I went to staples the other day go get a new chair. I play lots of computer games.
I sat in 20 different chairs 1t of which were office chairs and 5 where gaming chairs. Ranging from 250 to 500.
I ended up picking a 319 dollar gaming chair. Yes it can be uncomfortable if you try sitting with one leg under you. I'm also too tall for it so the head rest is useless.
However the arm rests are very adjustable. They can slide back and forth, tilt side to side, and go up and down setting them at the right height.
I was using a cheap office chair before. And my right wrist would get so sore. Because the arm rest was fixed and I couldn't adjust it. My wrist was resting heavily on my mouse pad with the weight of my arm.
The new chair fixed this issue. Now I can game without my wrist hurting.
The only other chair I liked was a mesh office chair. But I have 4 cats they would have ripped it apart. And if that mesh ripped the whole chair would be useless.

Leap V2's backrest and wider variety of adjustments
The Gesture's seat adjustment, headrest and it's stability, and the arms
      Amia's seat
A bonus thing they could do would be give it a uniform look like the Gesture and the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered
Another bonus would clearly be the option to pick between a leather or fabric back and a leather or fabric seat individually (and I guess the headrest, which should probably come with a mesh option)

No real options for house dust mite allergy sufferers. There needs to be options with either leather covered foam seats/backs, or plastic covered. The only option in the chairs you covered is the Herman MIller Aeron. It does not have material covered foam which is where dust mites will go to live. Which causes a source of allergen right by the user.

I recently picked up a Steelcase Please. Thought I would invest a bit in my back since my last chair was a cheap office chair I got for free, which did not go well wirh my chronic backpain. Before I have never ever had a decent office chair. Thus, I went to a local office supplier and sat my way through 20 high end office chairs. In the end the Please and Gesture ended up in the closer range.
The Please is definitely not the most comfortable chair out there, but damn is this thing nice to sit on. No more backpain for the rest of my life. The Gesture definitely has the better headrest and armrests (however I found them to move quite easily unwillingly) but the Please has just an amazing backrest, that forces me to sit in a pain-free position throughout the day.
Would love to see your opinion on that model, but I think it is not even available in the US, despite being amongst the - if not the - most popular Steelcase Chair in Europe.

NOTE: This is a temp chair so I am keeping it (for now). I put the Ticova together a couple of hours ago. But, since my new Logitech G413 is junk, I am finally trying to get this post made again, after an hour of playing with the junk and trying to get it to work properly, which it just will not. ... IMO, from the average size of Americans, Ticova needs at least another 2.5 inches of depth in the front of the seat. Yeah, that does not seem like much, but it feels too short. I guess I could get used to it?
I cannot comment on the armrests because I am not using them.
IMO, the adjustable lumbar support is a marketing gimmick. There is not enough in/out adjustability to brag about. And, there is no up or down adjustment. For me, it is too high and feels awkward.
I guess most people will be content with the headrest? I did not like it.
    The recline is satisfactory.
_It needs much better foam in the seat!_
Obviously, whatever chair you are considering, try to find one locally, on display, to check it out.
With all the price gouging/increases, the amount I paid was not terrible. However, I would not make this purchase again!
Well, that took way, way longer than it should have. Thanks, Logitech.
