    2:48 > John Boyd's Circle (OODA loop). Thanks for the explanation mate. (So many people don't understand the concept).
    0:55 to 2:35 > So many great points:
    1) "Escape and runaway from the knife."
    2) "You have NO interest in dealing with a knife." (Very important !!! Many peoples think that you can deal with a knife like in a movie / video game)
    3) "You will get cut."
    So many claimed "Self Defense Teacher" are not aware about the reality of knife. They always think (or tend to think) that everything is cool and fine against a knife.
    They also claimed that if you are involved in knife attack, you will not get cut. (Surely, you will get cut and even probably ... BLEEDING OUT).
    Thanks for TEACHING THE TRUTH; SHARING THE TRUTH AND TELLING THE TRUTH.

As your trying to control his arm with the knife, while wrapping his threat arm, try and control his bicep from pulling back, because the perp will be trying desperately to pull back and the primary muscle involved is his bicep. On eastern sunday this year I got into this situation, was just hopping off my racing bicycle (doing sports), had bicycling shoes on, so very slippery, standing on some grass. Suddenly an Arab dude came out of a train station nearby ''what are you looking?! i will fucking slit you open!'' and I was totally unprepared + as a 115kg dude, running away was no option. Everyone is faster than me. He was already at roughly 2-3 meter distance with an open spring knife, my only thought was to use my bicycle as a distance holder but otherwise no idea what I could have been done except fighting with my hands. He did not attack in the end, this was my luck otherwise I would be dead or have visible wounds for the rest of my life. If I was in the Netherlands I would train in your gym for sure.
    After the guy went away, I called the police to neutralize this thread for other people and they got him. turned out he got already 15 other cases running against him. In a weird way I had no fear but was just overwhelmed and tried not to say anything, basically give him the feeling that hes the boss for this moment. Helpless, but THIS time it worked.
    Especially if I had a daughter I would shit in my pants every time she goes out.

    Really like the aggression here. If someone attacks tou with a knife they deserve no mercy. It's literally a moment where your life could end there and then so absolute aggression is needed. (If there's no other choice)
    As much as I'd love to snap their arm or legs in half, hanging around is so dangerous. Chances are their mates are there.
    I have a problem with running though. If they decide to chase you and you get caught you've already used your energy. It's such a tough call to make.
    Obviously the easy way out is give them what they want, but if that includes your phone then you can't even call the police!

    • @schoolofselfprotection
      @schoolofselfprotection  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! Good points! If we get somebody down in the mentioned situation we try to stamp on the ankle/calve/knee. Now he needs to crawl to get you..also a phone is just a phone..just give it in that case I would say. When it’s a knife hold up and your awareness was not on point…then the phone is the price you pay for your mistake..but if somebody attack you with a blade you need to eliminate him! Because the prices is probably your life! Thanks for the feedback!

    I had a kitchen knife pulled on me when I was younger. It's a terrifying situation and most people will freeze. I was able to get out of the way and sprint off at speed. This is the first knife defence vid I've seen based on hard reality. At around 9.03 or 9.36 or 9.56, is a hard front shin kick below the attackers knee, or a hard 'foot jab' to the knee, also a viable counterattack that could be used? Because as you say you have to counterattack before you get overwhelmed.

    Boxed on and off since I've been 13, I wanted to go pro but didnt due to personal circumstances. This man is so correct, as a young man in Glasgow I seen knives pulled a few times and I ran like a motherfukcer, my legs are not wat they once were as I dont train hard enough. I made the same mistake this guy is on about, my neighbour wants my driveway and pulled a knife, the mans a lunatic and doesnt care tha i bought it. He came at me randomly and I stupidly out of suprise stepped into rather than out the garden, thankfully I took a fighting stance and made a jabs distance and moved my legs to keep a defense space until he realised I was going to fight back and I'm stronger from.gardening and boxing. There is no garuntee it's pretty scary shit and all you can do is resort motions for instinctive decisions in the moment to stay alive.

      Yes. Of course you do. Like I explain 100 times in the video. But we train also plan B! No guarantees! Sometimes running is not an option!!!!!!!!!

    OMG! Why TF would the attacker use an overhand right if he has a knife??

      Why not?? Underhand or overhand…the angle of the attack stays the same! Don’t be technical about something that is alsmost impossible to control!

    I am not gonna fight anybody with a knife no way if I have a gun or a sword fine. I grew up in north UK if anybody wanted kill you; usually they make sure. You don't see it coming small knives, apart from that head butt preferred weapon of choice for UK guys.

  • @mrks_motorcyclist
    @mrks_motorcyclist ปีที่แล้ว

    The problem with knife attacks is usually that the aggressor keeps the weapon hidden and suddenly stabs. You rarely have the opportunity to escape from these attacks, If you get a chance to see the knife, there is only one thing to do, run! If you have to fight, find something.. grab your keychain, throw it in his face and run. You have no chance to block a knife stab!!!

    • @schoolofselfprotection
      @schoolofselfprotection  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You didn’t watch the video huh. Because I say this all the time. But what if you cannot run?
      Because no time?
      Because I have an injury?
      Because escape route is blocked or not available?
      Because of a significant other?
      You are welcome.
