  • Dear Diary,
    Join me for a week in the life of an HVAC technician! In this HVAC vlog, I take you through my daily tasks, service calls, and challenges in the world of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. From diagnosing issues to completing repairs, you'll get a firsthand look at what it's like to work in the HVAC industry. If you're curious about the behind-the-scenes of HVAC techs, this vlog is for you! Stay tuned for a glimpse into the daily routine and responsibilities of an HVAC technician.
    This week's episode features a variety of HVAC work:
    found a dying condensate pump on a ductless mini split at a nail salon
    did HVAC maintenance at a new place with terrible roof access and really dirty filters
    found and repaired a refrigerant leak on a split AC unit
    replaced a fan motor and high pressure switch on a Lennox rooftop unit
    repaired the ice machine from last week (replaced a start relay and a toggle switch)
    found another bad capacitor on a water source heat pump unit in an office
    replaced a door heater on a walk-in freezer at a pet food warehouse
    attempted to replace the condensing unit in a catering truck
    Hope you enjoyed the vlog as much as I did making it.

    Pretty good imitation of a condensate-pump ! Ahhh - the sad sound of a dying HVAC appliance ! Hope you recommended a hinge-kit, on that roof-access hatch cover ! Good thing you learned to crawl, like the rest of us ! That was a new, tilt-up, pre-cast building underway - FYI. 19:40 - you brought it back to life ! Teamwork, on that new switch makes it happen ! Sweet sound of that falling ice-harvest must be music to your ears, now ! That`s a real challenge - Catering Truck, which won`t give-up what it has ! 😉

      Oh Glenn... sometimes we feel like rock stars and some times we are defeated. Take the good with the bad, and we just keep trying to do our best. I will keep working on my sound effects HAHA!!!

      Thanks so much for watching and for the nice comment. Yes, some days you feel like a rock star and some days are so defeating. It's all about having an interesting adventure. This is a good trade to be in. I visited Munich in 2014 :)

    It will be interesting how the refrigeration unit comes out of the truck, I think it will be easier than you realize. Enjoyed the video. Thank You...

      You were not wrong... we removed the rivets from the back panel and were able to get the old unit out of the truck. We still needed the metal fab guy to remove the roof - which he did - and we were able to get the job done. We also thought of using some flexible refrigerant piping. After the weekend, we had fresh minds!

    Jess, unlike most hvac people, I don't see you using gauges much to check superheat and subcooling ...

    • @hvacjess
      @hvacjess  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is such a strange comment because we use refrigerant gauges for 95% of our jobs. Maybe I didn't realize I wasn't filming our gauge manifold (dad still uses the old analogue ones) taking pressures, etc. But we use them all of the time.
      We also have some Fieldpiece pressure probes that are more "new school" but dad seems to still reach for the manifold.

    Heat exchange your damage. Like that is from excessive heat. Most likely gas pressure being incorrect, as well as contaminants being pulled up through the return, most likely when they were doing renovations. It was probably winter time.They got a bunch of drywall dust up in there

    Heat exchanger discolored because of poor air flow…over heating but the limit switch not shutting down the burners…check limit switches

    • @hvacjess

      Will definitely check that out next time we visit.

    I've found that every single Asian nail place has no extraction. Some of them actually fake it by having vents, and they never hook him up above the ceiling. Oh, they'll put the flex, and then no. Do not have anything on the roof i've ran into this probably fifteen times

    • @hvacjess
      @hvacjess  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wowwwww that's so tricky!! There are so many fumes from those products, not to mention all the particles in the air from filing all those nails - real ones and fake ones!!!
